UK Government Urging People to Wear Three Layer Masks

Susan Hopkins, a specialist in infectious diseases at Public Health England, said that Britons should wear masks made with at least two, or even three, layers, and left open the possibility that the UK might follow the U.S.’s lead and recommend double masking.

The British government made wearing masks, or any kind of face covering, in shops mandatory in July 2020, with the government advising they be made with at least two layers of fabric.

Responding to a question on U.S. President Joe Biden ‘double masking’, Dr Hopkins said during a Downing Street press briefing on Monday: “The more layers you have, the better.”

“What we recommend is at least two layers and ideally three layers in a mask. That is really important to reduce the virus transmission both from you to others and others to you,” Hopkins added, according to The Times.

She then appeared to suggest that double masking could be coming to the United Kingdom, describing discussions about mask regulations as “ongoing”: “We have got a facemasks and face coverings advisory group who meet on a regular basis and look at new and emerging evidence. Biden State Department Nominee Is a Defender of China Propaganda Program

A top State Department nominee is a defender of the Confucius Institute, a Chinese government program that disseminates pro-Beijing propaganda on American college campuses.

Victoria Nuland, President Biden’s choice for undersecretary of state for political affairs, voiced support for the expansion of the Chinese government-funded Confucius Institute at American universities in a 2012 press conference. Nuland, then an Obama administration spokeswoman, praised the campus institutes as a crucial part of “people-to-people exchange” between the two superpowers, dismissing concerns about Chinese ambition.

A reporter asked Nuland if the Obama administration was concerned about “the Confucius Institute’s expansion in the U.S. as the strongest Chinese soft power?”

“No,” Nuland responded. “This [Confucius Institute] is something that we support. It’s part of the people-to-people understanding.”

The Confucius Institute quickly expanded its influence during the Obama era, establishing itself at more than 100 American universities and colleges during its peak in 2017, despite warnings about the Chinese Communist Party’s influence. Several government reports found the Chinese government exercised high degrees of control over campus institutes, barring their instructors from teaching taboo topics such as Tibet or Hong Kong. Frequently, instructors were contractually obligated to follow Chinese law even when teaching on American soil. Canada PM Gives up on Keystone XL Pipeline, Says Biden ‘Administration Has Made Its Decision’

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Sunday that he won’t be fighting to restart the Keystone XL pipeline because the Biden administration “has made its decision on that.”

Trudeau was asked by NBC’s “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd, “Are are you going to stop advocating for it here? Do you feel as though the Keystone pipeline is now dead?”

“I think it’s fairly clear that the U.S. administration has made its decision on that,” Trudeau responded. “We’re much more interested in ensuring that we’re moving forward in ways that are good for both of our countries. I think there’s so much we can do together that I don’t spend too much time worrying about the tension points.”

On his first day in office, President Joe Biden signed an executive order cancelling a federal permit that was crucial to the Keystone XL pipeline’s completion. The pipeline was designed to transport crude oil from Alberta to U.S. refineries. Scrapping the pipeline immediately eliminated thousands of high-paying jobs on both sides of the border. U.S. Strikes Facilities in Syria Used by Iran-Backed Militia in Retaliatory Action

The United States launched airstrikes in Syria on Thursday, targeting facilities near the Iraqi border used by militia groups backed by the Iranian regime. The Pentagon said the strikes were retaliation for a rocket attack in Iraq earlier this month that killed one civilian contractor and wounded a U.S. service member and other coalition troops.

The airstrike was the first military action undertaken by the Biden administration, which in its first weeks has emphasized its intent to put more focus on the challenges posed by China’s communist party.

“This proportionate military response was conducted together with diplomatic measures, including consultation with coalition partners,” the Pentagon’s chief spokesperson, John Kirby, said in announcing the strikes.

“The operation sends an unambiguous message: President Biden will act to protect American and coalition personnel. At the same time, we have acted in a deliberate manner that aims to deescalate the overall situation in eastern Syria and Iraq.”

Another Boeing Plane Falls Apart Mid-Flight

A second Boeing plane was forced to conduct an emergency landing over the weekend after a flight departing the Netherlands experienced significant engine failure.

The Boeing 747-400 cargo plane, operated by the charter airline service Longtail Aviation and traveling from Maastricht, Netherlands, to New York, was forced to land shortly after taking off Saturday due to a significant engine failure, CNN reported. After airplane parts fell from the plane onto the town of Meerssen, Netherlands, injuring two people, the plane’s crew conducted an emergency landing in Belgium.

“Our flight crew dealt with this situation professionally and in accordance with the correct aviation standards, resulting in a safe and uneventful landing,” said Martin Amick, accountable manager for Longtail Aviation, according to CNN. “We are now in the process of working closely with the Dutch, Belgian, Bermuda and UK authorities to understand the cause of this incident.”

Evidence Shows Iran Violating Nuclear Deal Biden Wants to Rejoin

There’s evidence that Iran has been violating the nuclear deal that President Biden wants America to rejoin.

“One of the most basic requirements of the Non-Proliferation Treaty, to which Iran is a party, as well as one of the terms of the 2015 ‘nuclear deal,’ was that the Iranian regime is required to reveal its nuclear activities to the IAEA – a condition with which it also failed to comply,” explained Majid Rafizadeh, in a report at Gatestone Institute.

He’s a Harvard-educated scholar, political scientist, board member of Harvard International Review and president of the International American Council on the Middle East. And he’s authored books on Islam and U.S. foreign policy.

The violations were first brought to the world’s attention in 2018, he noted, when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urged International Atomic Energy Agency Director-General Yukiya Amano to inspect an “atomic warehouse” in Iran.

China, World Champion of Forced Abortion, Worries Pfizer Vaccine May Hurt Pregnant Women

. . .China’s harsh population control policies made it the world champion of forced abortions for four decades running, and it is currently working overtime to reduce the birth rates for racial minorities with forced sterilization and abortion. The Chinese Communist Party’s recent effort to look on the bright side of ethnic cleansing by noting the lack of children gives women more free time to pursue their dreams was not well received.

The Global Times nevertheless claimed to be deeply concerned about pregnant women signing up for trials of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine:

Some Chinese health experts believe it’s too risky and pregnant women should not get any vaccination for trials, while some said the health risks of pregnant women getting vaccinated are much lower than after contracting the virus.

In China, pregnant women are not recommended to receive COVID-19 vaccines, and other vaccines are also generally not recommended for them due to limited research data, Wang Huaqing, the chief immunologist at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said at a press conference in December 2020.

Pfizer’s clinical trials for pregnant women gained much attention from Chinese netizens. Many of them questioned whether it’s ethical to run tests on pregnant women especially when the death incidents in some Western countries involving elderly people have raised wide concern on the safety of the Pfizer vaccine.

The Wuhan Lab Will Receive U.S. Taxpayer Funding Through 2024

The Wuhan Institute of Virology is authorized to receive taxpayer funding for animal research until January 2024, the National Institute of Health told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The WIV is at the center of widespread speculation that COVID-19 could have entered the human population in China due to an accidental lab leak. Researchers at the lab were studying bat-based coronaviruses prior to the outbreak, a project partially backed by $600,000 in U.S. taxpayer funds routed to the lab through the nonprofit group EcoHealth Alliance.

The president of EcoHealth Alliance, Peter Daszak, was the sole U.S. member of the World Health Organization delegation that investigated the origins of the pandemic on the ground in China in January and February. While the WHO delegation has yet to release a report on their findings, Daszak said the White House should blindly accept their conclusion that it’s highly unlikely the virus could have leaked from the WIV.

Israel Suggests It May Ignore Joe Biden on Iran, After Biden Ignores Netanyahu

Israel may ignore U.S. President Joe Biden in dealing with Iran if he pushes toward reviving the nuclear deal, according to Ambassador to the U.S. Gilad Erdan.

Biden campaigned on restoring the Iran deal, even though it allowed the regime to pursue nuclear weapons after roughly a decade, and did not include provisions preventing Iran’s development of nuclear-capable ballistic missiles or its support for terrorist proxies in the region and around the world.

Israel may be forced to pursue its own strategy, according to a report in Israel Hayom on Tuesday:

Israel held out the possibility on Tuesday that it would not engage with US President Joe Biden on strategy regarding the Iranian nuclear program, urging tougher sanctions and a “credible military threat.”

“We will not be able to be part of such a process if the new administration returns to that deal,” Ambassador Gilad Erdan told Israel’s Army Radio.

China Warns Biden After Dual Aircraft Carrier Drill

China has delivered a warning to the new U.S. administration not to meddle in the sensitive South China Sea region, where President Joe Biden has ordered his first naval moves since assuming the commander-in-chief title just weeks ago.

The U.S. Navy’s Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group joined the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group on Tuesday for rare dual aircraft carrier exercises involving the massive Nimitz-class warships alongside accompanying vessels and aircraft. . .

“The United States frequently sent vessels and aircraft to the South China Sea to flex its muscles,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin told reporters. “This is not conducive to peace and stability in the region.”

“The US move is a repeat of its old trick to manipulate the cross-Strait situation in mixed ways, which has seriously violated China’s sovereignty and security, gravely undermined regional peace and stability, and deliberately disrupted the good atmosphere of peace, friendship and cooperation in the South China Sea,” Tian said in a statement published Friday by the Chinese Defense Ministry.
