Talking to Biden, Preparing for War — U.S. Panel Sees Xi Bracing China for Conflict to Come

Chinese President Xi Jinping is preparing his military forces for war and directing the rest of the country to prepare for economic hardships that conflict would bring, according to the latest annual report from a congressional commission on China.

The Chinese leader, who also heads the ruling Communist Party and is scheduled to have his first face-to-face meeting in a year with President Biden on Wednesday, has called on government officials and the population to prepare for “worst-case” and “extreme” scenarios as a result of heightened tensions with the United States and its allies in the region.

The 753-page report to Congress by the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission includes an alarming list of indicators that Beijing is preparing for war with the United States.

“Throughout 2023, China accelerated its political, military, economic and information pressure against Taiwan, raising further concerns of potential military action,” Commission co-Chair Carolyn Bartholomew said in releasing the report from the influential advisory body.

On the eve of the meeting with Mr. Biden, the panel said Washington had little to show for a flurry of meetings between senior leaders in recent months trying to moderate Beijing’s policies. Congressional Report Highlights China’s Evasion of Biden’s Semiconductor Sanctions, Gaining Access to Advanced Technology

President Joe Biden’s semiconductor sanctions are not sufficiently preventing China from gaining access to the advanced technology, a Tuesday congressional report asserts.

Chinese firms have been procuring American chip manufacturing machinery to produce cutting-edge semiconductors, which are used in artificial intelligence (AI), according to the report by the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission. Biden administration sanctions have aimed at impeding China’s progress in the semiconductor sector, but it has successfully found ways to circumvent them through dubious claims, self-reliance and other countries.

Chinese “importers are often able to purchase the equipment if they claim it is being used on an older production line, and with limited capacity for end-use inspections it is difficult to verify the equipment is not being used to produce more advanced chips,” the report found.

Biden’s 2022 CHIPS and Science Act is designed to advance America’s semiconductor industry while also taking on China, according to a White House fact sheet. The funds provided in the act prohibit constructing certain factories in China. Israeli Military Enters Gaza’s Largest Hospital in Targeted Operation Against Hamas

The Israeli military said it had entered Gaza’s largest hospital early Wednesday local time, breaking a standoff against the facility thought to serve as a hub of Hamas military activities, according to Israel’s military and media reports.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it was carrying out “a precise and targeted operation” against Hamas in a localized area of the Al-Shifa Hospital, which it has so far balked at entering due to the medical personnel and patients in the facility, s, according to The Associated Press. But Israeli authorities have said it serves as a primary nodes for the Hamas terrorist groups‘ military operations.

“IDF forces are carrying out a precise and targeted operation against Hamas in a specified area in the Shifa Hospital, based on intelligence information and an operational necessity,” Israel’s military said in a social media statement. “The IDF is conducting a ground operation in Gaza to defeat Hamas and rescue our hostages. Israel is at war with Hamas, not with the civilians in Gaza.”

The IDF said it warned multiple times over recent weeks that Hamas’ continued use of the hospital for military purposes was endangering its status as a protected non-military target under international law. IDF Discovers Arabic Copy of Hitler’s ‘Mein Kampf’ in Gaza Child’s Room Used as Hamas Terrorist Base

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) found an Arabic copy of Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” — in a children’s room at a home inside Gaza — as its forces continue to root out Hamas terrorists inside the territory.

President Isaac Herzog first revealed the discovered book during an interview with the BBC and showed that terrorists had written various notes in Arabic and highlighted passages in the book.

“IDF forces discovered a copy of Hitler’s infamous book ‘Mein Kampf’ — translated into Arabic — in a child’s bedroom used as a Hamas terrorist base in Gaza,” the IDF said on X. “The book was discovered among the personal belongings of one of the terrorists, featuring annotations and highlights.”

“Hamas embraces the ideology of Hitler, the one responsible for the annihilation of the Jewish people,” the IDF added.

Judges Deny Parents’ Plea to Take Ailing Daughter to Italy for Treatment

A panel of judges in the United Kingdom denied an appeal from parents to take their daughter, who suffers from a rare disease, to Italy for treatment.

The judges said that Italy’s desire to take 8-month-old Indi Gregory in for treatment under Hague Convention rules was “wholly misconceived” and “not in the spirit of the convention.” Italy has granted the infant citizenship and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has reached out to the U.K.’s Lord Chancellor to coordinate travel to bring the young child to Italy.

The parents of Indi, supported by the Christian Legal Centre, have sought to leave the U.K. to find treatment for a rare mitochondrial disease their daughter has. Judges with the Court of Appeal denied their requests, upholding a previous ruling from Justice Robert Peel that Indi must be taken off life support.

“Claire and I are again disgusted by another one-sided decision from the judges and the Trust. The whole world is watching and is shocked at how we have been treated,” Dean Gregory, Indi’s father, said.

“Claire and I have always wanted what is in Indi’s best interests. She has human rights and we wanted her to have the best treatment possible. If the UK did not want to fund it, why can she not go to Italy and receive the treatment and care which the amazing Italian Prime Minister and government has offered,” he added. Man Raised By Hamas Tells Horrifying Story Of Their Brutal Indoctrination

A former Hamas terrorist-in-training told an Israeli news station of his brutal upbringing — including watching other children being beheaded and being forced to lie in graves to practice being a martyr — as he was indoctrinated by Hamas in Gaza during his childhood.

Yaron Abraham was born in Lod, an Israeli city near Tel Aviv, before he was transported to Gaza for Hamas jihadi training at one of the most “extreme” mosques in the region. Abraham later escaped and was taken in by an Israeli family, after which Abraham joined the Israeli military and converted to Judaism.

Abraham told his story in an interview on Channel 13 News. The interview was conducted in Hebrew. The Daily Wire obtained an English transcript of what was said.

Abraham lived in Lod until he turned 9. One of his sisters, the one he was closest with among his siblings, was murdered over “family honor,” he said.

“I started asking questions, wanting to understand what happened,” he said. His family, fearing he would “complicate things” for them if he stayed in Lod, sent Abraham to an extremist mosque in Gaza for his education. Report: Israel Killed Ballistic Missile Attack in Space (VIDEO)

A new report at the Telegraph says Israel shot down a ballistic missile that was aimed at it, while the weapon was in space.

The report explains the Middle East democracy’s famed Arrow missile-defense system took out the rocket than had been fired by the Houthi rebels in Yemen, who are backed by Iran, “outside the earth’s atmosphere.”

The report said it was believed to be the first combat ever to take place in space, and it resulted in the takedown of the bomb launched from Yemen, some 1,000 miles away and heading for the Israeli port city of Eilat.

Few details were released about the intercept, but the Israel Defense Forces released a video, explaining a cruise missile “launched from the southeast toward Israeli airspace was successfully intercepted by F-35I fighter jets.”

Then it added, “On the same day, the AIF’s Arrow Aerial Defense System intercepted a surface-to-surface missile in the Red Sea area.”

Philippines Drops China’s Belt and Road as Tensions Flare

The Philippines in late October became the latest country to back out of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), with Transport Minister Jaime Bautista telling reporters the sudden withdrawal came after Beijing did not respond to funding requests on railway projects.

China had pledged almost $5 billion (€4.7 billion) to build three rail lines — two in Luzon and one in Mindanao — under the BRI, a keystone of Beijing’s foreign policy offering Chinese-backed loans for major infrastructure projects mostly in developing parts of the world.

However, China and the Philippines have been locked in a years-long dispute over maritime territory in the South China Sea, which China has claimed in its entirety.

In the most recent incident, a Chinese coast guard ship rammed a Philippine fishing vessel in contested waters near Second Thomas Shoal.

However, Philippine officials did not mention territorial tension as the reason behind the pull out. (Read more from “Philippines Drops China’s Belt and Road as Tensions Flare” HERE)

Israel Eliminates 130 Hamas Tunnels in Gaza as Airstrike Kills Weapons Maker

The Israeli military on Wednesday said it destroyed an infamous Hamas tunnel network that spans hundreds of miles below the Gaza Strip — as air strikes reportedly took out a key weapon maker for the terror organization.

More than 130 tunnel shafts underneath Gaza were blown up by combat engineers who are “destroying the enemy’s weapons and are locating, exposing and detonating tunnel shafts,” the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement.

Meanwhile, above-ground bombardments killed Hamas weapons maker Mahsein Abu Zina, the Israeli military said.

IDF troops also discovered a structure with multiple car batteries sitting next to several tunnel entrances which they believe was used to power the tunnel’s air filtration systems.

Israeli soldiers also captured a Hamas training camp in northern Gaza, IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari wrote on X. (Read more from “Israel Eliminates 130 Hamas Tunnels in Gaza as Airstrike Kills Weapons Maker” HERE)

Netanyahu Signals Affinity for Zelensky as Israel’s Ties With Russia Worsen

Israel intends to host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for a visit to show solidarity in response to the Hamas terrorist attack last month despite Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s careful management of ties with Russia.

“If President Zelensky comes, he will be welcomed with open arms,” an unnamed Israeli official told the Times of Israel.

Zelensky had planned to arrive in Israel on Monday, according to reports, which would have positioned him to mark the passage of a month since the unprecedented rampage that ignited a major war in Gaza. The visit was canceled after his plans leaked, but points in any case to the worsening relationship between Israel and Russia.

“It’s kind of an extension of this rhetorical signaling … to the Russians that [they should] measure your support to the Palestinians or those who are supporting Palestinians,” former Estonian diplomat Peeter Raudsik, who specialized in Middle East issues at the Estonian mission to the United Nations from 2019 to 2022, told the Washington Examiner.
