Poll: Most Americans Believe In Biblical God, Heaven and Hell, and Purpose for Suffering

If you only watched corporate media’s coverage of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Organization abortion case before the Supreme Court last week, you’d think very few people still believed in Christianity and its values, prominent among which is the belief that life is divinely created and precious. But a recent poll suggests the majority of Americans do express a belief in God.

In a survey of some 6,500 American adults, Pew Research Center found that many Americans still hold religious convictions including a deep and abiding belief in God, belief in heaven and hell, and the belief that God is not to blame for human suffering. . .

In the survey, a majority of Americans (58 percent) define their God as the one described in the Bible. Another one-third (32 percent) believe in a god or spiritual power, although not necessarily that of the Bible. All told, nine in 10 Americans believe in some higher power working in our world.

As for respondents’ religious affiliation, Pew found some 66 percent identified as Christian — 42 percent Protestant and 21 percent Catholic. Another 28 percent claimed no religious affiliation, including 10 percent who were atheist or agnostic and another 18 percent who said they believed “nothing in particular.” . . .

Transgender “Female” Shattering Records Against Women

Lia Thomas, 22, competed as Will Thomas for several years on the University of Pennsylvania men’s swim team.

Now Thomas is breaking records – on the women’s team. . .

And the situation has triggered another round of fights over the idea that men can become women, and also that they should be allowed to compete against biological women.

Thomas recently “raced away” from other competitors at the Zippy Invitational event in Akron, Ohio, winning the 1,650-yard freestyle by 38 seconds, according to the Daily Mail.

Report: School Shooter’s Neighbor Warned Authorities About Parents’ Neglect

A neighbor of accused Michigan high school shooter Ethan Crumbley says she warned authorities about his parents’ alleged neglect of him before last week’s slaughter, a new report reveals.

Kayla LeMieux, who lives near Ethan and his parents, James and Jennifer Crumbley, said she alerted child-abuse authorities that the pair would leave their son — then 8 or 9 years old — home alone while they went out bar-hopping, according to a report in the Detroit Free Press.

“When they were gone, he would come knock on our door,” LeMieux, 28, told the outlet. “They didn’t leave him with a phone.”

LeMieux said she notified Child Protective Services but doesn’t know if they took action — noting that the alleged neglect continued.

“It was really when I finally started to say more, because I was just like, even after calling CPS, they were still doing it and even me saying something to them, they were still like, ‘Oh, he is fine,’ ” she said. Critical Race Trove From School District Tells Students How to Use Witchcraft on People Who Say ‘All Lives Matter’

. . .Campbell Union High School District has promoted more than 100 “equity resources” to students and staff, including a document that taught students how to put a curse on those who say “all lives matter.” . . .

CUHSD also links to the Black Lives Matter Resource Guide, specifically their section labeled “high school,” which itself includes 45 different texts. Amid a wide variety of CRT inspired assignments is a document that includes writing prompts on police brutality and racist violence.

One section titled “Hex” tells the reader, “Hexing people is an important way to get out anger and frustration.” It becomes increasingly deranged, suggesting that those who say “all lives matter” or commit “microaggressions,” should be targeted. “Write your own hex poem, cursing that person,” it instructs.

When asked her thoughts on the document that instructed K-12 students to use witchcraft on political opponents, Branham teacher Meredith Allen told The Federalist she hasn’t read the documents her district recommends, so she “can’t comment,” but that she is generally “opposed to the ‘all lives matter’ message.”

Health Officials Say Christian Beliefs ‘Incompatible With Human Dignity’

Officials for the North Bristol National Health Service Trust in the United Kingdom are claiming the Christian beliefs of a former employee are “incompatible with human dignity,” especially when they touch on Islam and marriage.

The claims arise as part of their defense against a lawsuit brought on behalf of Brian Walker, 66, who has alleged discrimination, victimization and harassment on the part of NHS officials who say his Christian faith fails to qualify as religious or philosophical beliefs under the Equality Act.

Christian Concern is reporting on the case brought by the Christian Legal Center against the health officials for constructive dismissal when Walker resigned because of a “totalitarian” investigation of him.

Health officials treated Walker as a “terrorist,” the report explained, forcing him out of work even though he was pressured by the need to support his disabled children.

Driving Husband Catches Baby One-Handed While Wife Gives Birth en Route to Hospital

Ryan and Kelli Emge had to act fast when Kelli began giving birth to their newborn baby Rebecca on the way to the Mercy Health Fairfield Hospital just outside of Cincinnati, Fox 19 reports.

The Ohio couple was still cruising down the highway when “Rebecca made it evident that she was coming and not waiting,” Kelli Emge told Fox 19. . .

“Real quickly, [Kelli] took her seatbelt off, put her knees on the seat facing the back and started giving birth in the passenger seat while I was driving on the highway,” Ryan told Fox 19.

Ryan says he “had kind of a freakout.”

“I was like, ‘Honey, do you want me to pull over? LGBT Ambassador Insults Christians as Bearded Virgin Mary

An LGBT ambassador to the European Union Parliament has used one of the world Christian community’s biggest holidays, Christmas, to insult that community, appearing as a bearded Virgin Mary.

The images of Riccardo Simonetti appeared on the cover of a German magazine.

The Daily Caller News Foundation reported, “The photos show a bearded Simonetti in a tunic and veil, holding a baby who is presumably representing Jesus. In another photo he is holding the baby with another man, who appears to represent Joseph, wrapping his arms around Simonetti.”

Simonetti, on social media, taunted, “If we ignore the fact that Jesus wasn’t white, we could as well believe the Virgin Mary had a beard, why not?”

Justice Thomas Asks: Where Is the Right to Abortion in the Constitution?

During oral arguments for Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization Wednesday, the case that could effectively overturn Roe v. Wade, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas asked a number of questions. Typically, Thomas stays silent.

During one exchange with U.S. Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar, Thomas pointed out a number of constitutional amendments that very clearly protect specific rights of Americans. He then asked Prelogar where abortion fits in.

Supreme Court Seems Poised to Consider New Limits on “Right” to Abortion

A majority of Supreme Court justices appeared poised to consider setting new limits on the right to abortion during oral arguments Wednesday over a Mississippi law that takes direct aim at the landmark 1973 decision in Roe v. Wade.

The Mississippi law at issue, which bans virtually all abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy, conflicts with the nearly five-decade rule that says states cannot prohibit abortion prior to when a fetus can live outside the womb, known as fetal viability, which occurs around 24 weeks.

But on Wednesday, the court’s conservatives, who constitute a six-member majority on the bench, posed sharp questions about how firmly rooted Roe’s viability standard is in the Constitution.

“If you think that the issue is one of choice, that women should have the choice to terminate their pregnancy, that supposes that there is a point at which they’ve had the fair choice, the opportunity to choice. And why would 15 weeks be an inappropriate line? Viability, it seems to me, doesn’t have anything to do with choice. But if it really is an issue about choice, why is 15 weeks not enough time?” Chief Justice John Roberts asked.

The scene of dueling pro- and anti-abortion activists outside the Supreme Court on Wednesday underscored the enormous stakes and political gravity of a case that sits at the intersection of women’s health and bodily autonomy, deeply held religious belief about the sanctity of human life and the potential cost in the court’s legitimacy if the justices depart from past abortion rulings that have been relied upon for generations. Professor Fired After He Accidentally Called Two Black Students by Wrong Name

A professor at Fordham University, a private Jesuit college in New York City, abruptly lost his job after an incident in which he accidentally called two black students by the wrong name. . .

While teaching his Composition II class on Sept. 24, Christopher Trogan, a now-former English lecturer at the school, accidentally called two students by the wrong name. The Fordham Observer characterized the incident as a “name mix-up” in which Trogan became briefly “confused.”

The students responded to the incident by emailing Trogan after class, telling him they were offended that he confused their names, and alleging that he did so because they are black.

Trogan, however, did not hide from his mistake. He sent his entire Composition II class an email apologizing for the “innocent mistake.” He said had suffered a “confused brain” because the two students whose names he confused walked into his class late at the same time he was reading the work of another student.

“The offended student assumed my mistake was because I confused that student with another Black student,” Trogan’s email said. “I have done my best to validate and reassure the offended student that I made a simple, human, error.
