Convicted Child Killer Charged With First-degree Murder After Being Released From Prison

A convicted child murderer who was released from jail in 2020 was charged Saturday with first-degree murder for the brutal killing of a woman found dead in a South Florida canal.

Eric Pierson, 54, allegedly killed 33-year-old Erika Verdecia, whose body was found stabbed four times with a screwdriver on Sept. 25, Sunrise police said. . .

In September 2020, Pierson was released from prison after carrying out 27 years of a 40-year sentence for the 1993 murder of Kristina Whitaker, 17.

Before that, in 1985, he was condemned to an 18-year sentence for attempted murder after breaking into a woman’s home and slitting her throat, but authorities said he was paroled.

Her daughter’s friends told Verdecia’s mother on social media that they had seen Verdecia with Pierson three days after she went missing, the mother said. (Read more from “Convicted Child Killer Charged With First-degree Murder After Being Released From Prison” HERE)

Report: Coronavirus ‘Contributed to a Significant Spike in Child Sexual Exploitation’

WeProtect Global Alliance, an international coalition of private entities and government agencies dedicated to protecting children from online sexual exploitation, released a report on Tuesday that found child sexual abuse increased significantly during the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the Alliance’s Global Threat Assessment 2021, pandemic lockdowns and social distancing produced a dramatic increase in Internet use by children, which in turn led to a surge of online exploitation.

“The scale of child sexual exploitation and abuse online is increasing. This sustained growth is outstripping our global capacity to respond,” the report warned.

To depict the scale of the problem, the report noted that the ten most harmful child sexual abuse sites on the “dark web” have over three million users between them. One site taken down by Europol in May 2021 had over 400,000 registered users.

The number of reports pouring into cyber abuse hotlines doubled last year, an increase WeProtect Global Alliance called “unprecedented.” (Read more from “Report: Coronavirus ‘Contributed to a Significant Spike in Child Sexual Exploitation’” HERE)

Records Suggest Loudoun Sent Team of Police To Deal With ‘Upset Parent,’ Not Alleged Rape of Female Student

Dispatch records from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office suggest that a school administrator and school resource officer (SRO) did not act urgently to involve police specialists in a reported rape on May 28 at Stone Bridge High School.

At 1:33 pm, the SRO — who works full-time at the school handling routine matters but officially works for the sheriff’s office — radioed that he “was briefed by assistant principal of a student that has made allegations of being possibly raped or touched unwanted by another student a couple of hours ago. Investigating at this time and parents are and have been notified at this time by admin.”

It is unclear whether the assistant principal learned of the rape “a couple of hours ago,” or whether the alleged rape occurred then and the administrator did not learn of it until some later time period.

The SRO then “investigated” for nearly an hour without calling for outside police officers.

At 2:21, 2:28, and 2:30, three calls for police are finally placed — one requesting a supervisor, one requesting “another unit,” and one noted as “upset parent.” Given that these calls came in a nine-minute window well after officials first learned of the rape, it seems likely that the impetus for all three was the “upset parent.” (Read more from “Records Suggest Loudoun Sent Team of Police To Deal With ‘Upset Parent,’ Not Alleged Rape of Female Student” HERE)

Report: State Excludes Religious Educators From Pro-Abortion Sex-Education Talks

Employees of the Nebraska Department of Education were offended that an associate director for the Nebraska Catholic Conference wanted to be part of the discussions about state sex education requirements and standards, and they deliberately excluded those with a religious affiliation.

According to the Free Beacon, which obtained state emails on the issue, one state agency worker warned another, “Jeremy is coming on pretty strong,” and the second responded,” I know. I really think they want to advocate for abstinence only education as well as gender identity, sexual orientation, etc.; but that is only my assumption.”

They were referring to Jeremy Ekeler, an associate director of education policy at the Nebraska Catholic Conference, who asked multiple times to be included in an advisory team that was to discuss plans to teach elementary school students about gender identity and transgender hormone therapy.

The state department “excluded input from religious education groups,” the report confirmed.

Ekeler is a former principal at a Nebraska Catholic school and asked the state agency three times about the process to develop those ideas, and eventually obtained a Zoom meeting with state officials after being told the advisory team was “full.” (Read more from “Report: State Excludes Religious Educators From Pro-Abortion Sex-Education Talks” HERE)

Parents Outraged as Doctor Schedules Abortion Without Permission

Zoey-Lea O’Hehir and her husband Jake are speaking out about the cruel way they found out their daughter Arlee has Down syndrome.

In an interview with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, O’Hehir said she was in the middle of teaching when she received the phone call delivering the diagnosis. She was told that her daughter had Down syndrome and that the doctor had already scheduled an abortion. “It was very scary and just the mention of termination struck a nerve,” she said. “Before I could say anything, before I could process anything or even breathe [he’d scheduled the termination].”

After trying for three years, the O’Hehirs were thrilled to be pregnant. But after the diagnosis, the care they received plummeted. After they refused the abortion, they were told that there were only three outcomes to expect: lifelong dialysis treatment, stillbirth, or neonatal death. Yet Arlee, now seven months old, is thriving and meeting all developmental milestones.

“She’s amazing and has brought so much happiness to our life,” her mother said. “She may have a little bit of low muscle tone, which comes with Down syndrome, but other than that she’s honestly just like a normal baby.”

Sadly, O’Hehir’s experience is far from rare. Down Syndrome Australia (DSA) said families were routinely pressured to have an abortion, or are not given enough support. “To hear families being repeatedly asked about termination and not supported in their decision [to proceed with the pregnancy] is a case of neglect,” DSA chief executive Ellen Skladzien said. “We heard about doctors who told families that their child would have a lifetime of suffering or that they would never achieve anything.” (Read more from “Parents Outraged as Doctor Schedules Abortion Without Permission” HERE)

Woman Raped On Train As Bystanders Did Absolutely Nothing To Help Her

A woman was raped Wednesday night on a Philadelphia train while bystanders did nothing to help her, authorities said Friday.

Authorities arrested the suspect, 35-year-old Fiston Ngoy, at the 69th Street Transportation Center after a Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) employee noticed the attack and called police, law enforcement officials said, according to NBC 10. Authorities believe Ngoy is homeless and did not know the victim, NBC 10 reported.

Timothy Bernhardt, Superintendent of the Upper Darby Police Department, reportedly said the rape was captured on security cameras and expressed shock that passengers on the train did not intervene or alert authorities.

“It’s disturbing that there were definitely people on the el and no one did anything to intervene or help this woman,” Bernhardt said. “The el” is a reference to Philadelphia’s elevated train line that runs between Upper Darby and the Frankford section of the city.

“The assault was observed by a SEPTA employee, who called 911, enabling SEPTA officers to respond immediately and apprehend the suspect in the act,” SEPTA spokesman Andrew Busch said, according to NBC 10. “There were other people on the train who witnessed this horrific act, and it may have been stopped sooner if a rider called 911.” (Read more from “Woman Raped on Train as Bystanders Did Absolutely Nothing To Help Her” HERE)

Bill Clinton has been released from the hospital, where he was being treated for an infection, The Associated Press (AP) reported.

Former President Clinton was released around 8 a.m. from the University of California Irvine Medical Center. Clinton was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday, with an infection unrelated to COVID-19, The AP reported.

“President Clinton was discharged from UC Irvine Medical Center today. His fever and white blood cell count are normalized and he will return home to New York to finish his course of antibiotics. On behalf of everyone at UC Irvine Medical Center, we were honored to treat him, and will continue to monitor his progress.” Dr. Alpesh N. Amin said in a statement.

Netflix Has Fired Trans Employee Who Led Walkout Over Chapelle Special, Allegedly Leaked Data

. . .Netflix’s “Dave Chappelle: The Closer” triggered trans employees enough at Netflix that they took part in a walkout. The employee who led the walkout has since been fired, as they also allegedly leaked data.

The fired employee, who is Black and currently pregnant and did not wish to be named, declined comment for The Verge. Another Netflix employee, however, did speak to the outlet. As Zoe Schiffler reported:

“All these white people are going around talking to the press and speaking publicly on Twitter and the only person who gets fired is the Black person who was quiet the entire time,” says a former employee in an interview with The Verge. “That’s absurd, and just further shows that Black trans people are the ones being targeted in this conversation.”

Schiffler referenced how metrics ended up in reporting with Bloomberg. That report in question, by Lucas Shaw from October 13, notes specifics about the reach and profitability of Chapelle’s specials. Shaw also writes:

Netflix shares lots of company data, including salaries and quarterly results, with employees as part of its culture of freedom and responsibility. It does so on the condition that those employees don’t share financial results or the performance of individual titles with the public. But the Chappelle special has prompted leaks unprecedented in the company’s history.

Why Is the Left Waging a War on ‘Gifted’ Children?

Public schools across the country are eliminating gifted and talented programs, removing advanced courses and overhauling admissions processes to achieve equity across racial categories.

Removing gifted and advanced courses is a no-cost way to cover up the racial achievement gap while ignoring its root causes, according to Harry Jackson, president of the Thomas Jefferson High School Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA).

“Gifted programs and advanced courses provide a mechanism for low-income households to achieve a stellar education for their children and serve as a ‘great equalizer’ to those families that opt for private education,” Jackson told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “By eliminating gifted programs and advanced courses in the name of equity, they will create greater inequities,” he said.

Black students make up 15% of the student population and 10% of the gifted student population, while Hispanic students make up 27.6% of the student population and 20.8% of the gifted student population, according to a Fordham Institute study. Those student groups are 49% and 23% less likely to participate in Advanced Placement programs than their peers, respectively, according to the Fordham Institute.

Public interest in racial inequities increased following George Floyd’s death with pressure on public schools to resolve racial disparities coming from parents, activist groups, school board members and officials in the U.S. Department of Education. Nurses Sue Hospital for ‘Blanket Denial’ of Religious Vaccine Exemptions

Nurses facing being fired from their Illinois hospital are suing their employer for refusing to grant them exemptions from the COVID-19 vaccine mandate, a move they claim violates state law.

Last month, Riverside Healthcare in Kankakee, Illinois, told all employees who filed for exemptions to the hospital’s vaccine mandate that their requests had been denied, saying that the health care system could not have unvaccinated employees caring for patients.

“Based on our review of your declination request and our COVID Vaccination Program Policy, your request has been denied. Although your religious or strongly held belief may otherwise qualify for an exemption, Riverside has decided to deny your request because you are in a patient-facing position,” the health care system’s letter stated, according to the Daily Journal.

“We take all requests very seriously and respect the time you invested to submit it,” Riverside said, adding that employees who do not want the vaccine could apply for non-patient-facing positions.

On Wednesday, six nurses at Riverside who filed for exemptions and were told they would be fired for refusing the vaccine filed a lawsuit in Circuit Court for the Twenty-First Circuit in Kankakee County.
