Grocery Store Worker Fired After Apprehending Purse Snatcher

This good Samaritan stopped a thief from stealing a woman’s purse, and his reward was losing his job.

A Vermont grocery store worker nabbed a purse snatcher — and was fired for his efforts.

Amir Shedyak, 20, who worked at the Hannaford supermarket in his hometown of Essex for four years, and was even an employee of the month, was canned after a heroic act in August. . .

“And he was like — an old lady’s purse just got stolen,” Shedyak, who is also a volunteer fireman, told local CBS station WCAX3. “I look to my right and I see a gentleman running across the parking lot and he had the purse in his hand.”

Shedyak grabbed the suspect from behind and held him down before calling the police. The suspect got away, but Shedyak was able to return the purse.

I got fired from Hannafords after working there for four years. I started out as a bagger and worked my way up to the…

Trump Approves TikTok App Deal

President Donald Trump approved a deal for Oracle and Walmart to acquire stakes in the US operations of popular video app TikTok, postponing a potential ban that was scheduled to go into effect on Sunday.

Oracle will own a 12.5% in TikTok’s global business, which is headquartered in the US, and will provide secure cloud services that satisfy national security concerns about the Chinese-owned app. Retail giant Walmart will also take a stake. . .

“Both companies will take part in a TikTok Global pre-IPO financing round in which they can take up to a 20% cumulative stake in the company,” TikTok said in a statement. “We will also maintain and expand TikTok Global’s headquarters in the US, while bringing 25,000 jobs across the country.” . . .

The deal, which still requires the approval of the Chinese government, came just hours before a ban on new downloads of TIkTok was set to take place. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said Saturday that the ban would be pushed out to Sept. 27 at 11:59 p.m. as the deal is finalized.

The agreement follows a tumultuous period for TikTok, which Trump has called a national security threat because it’s owned by ByteDance, a Chinese tech company. The administration alleges that the Chinese government could use data gathered by the TikTok app to “track the locations of Federal employees and contractors, build dossiers of personal information for blackmail, and conduct corporate espionage.” TikTok has repeatedly pushed back, noting that it wouldn’t turn over data to the Chinese government even if it were asked to. Despite Catholic Faith, Nancy Pelosi Wants to Keep Churches Closed

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), a Catholic, doesn’t think churches should open until it is “scientifically safe” to do so.

Pelosi was asked at a Friday press conference to respond to Archbishop of San Francisco Salvatore Joseph Cordileone’s recent article urging California leaders to consider reopening churches. Despite her own violation of the COVID-19 government lockdown orders in San Francisco by booking and attending an illegal indoor hair appointment, Pelosi stated that going to in-person church services might be ” jeopardizing people’s health.”

“I don’t know if he was speaking as our pastor or as a lobbyist or advocate, but whatever it is, I’m sure that he must have meant if it is scientifically safe rather than jeopardizing people’s health if they want to go to church,” she explained.

While Pelosi admitted that she misses “going to church regularly,” she claims that she and the archbishop have “some areas of agreement and some areas of disagreement.”

“With all due respect to my Archbishop, I think we should follow science on this. And again with faith and science, sometimes they’re countered to each other,” Pelosi said. (Read more from “Despite Catholic Faith, Nancy Pelosi Wants to Keep Churches Closed” HERE)

Player Goes Against NFL, Will Decide Who He Honors on His Helmet

Pittsburgh Steelers center and co-captain Maurkice Pouncey announced that he would decide whose name is on the back of his helmet, not who the Steelers or the NFL tell him to honor. Pouncey is going against the league, which is honoring a victim of a police shooting, who was also reportedly involved in a drive-by shooting. . .

The Steelers played the New York Giants on Monday night. The Pittsburgh players, including Pouncey, had the name “Antwon Rose Jr.” on the back of their helmets. On Thursday, Pouncey announced that he regretted wearing the tribute and would not wear Antwon Rose’s name on the back of his helmet for the rest of the season.

“I was given limited information on the situation regarding Antwon, and I was unaware of the whole story surrounding his death and what transpired during the trial following the tragedy,” said Pouncey, who was named the Steelers’ 2019 nominee as the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award for “exceptional character and work off the football field.” “I should have done more research to fully understand what occurred in its entirety.”

“My work with the police, both in Pittsburgh and back home in Florida, is well documented,” the Pittsburgh lineman said. “I don’t always feel the need to highlight what I do with the police departments, but I also want to make sure they understand I inadvertently supported a cause of which I did not fully comprehend the entire background of the case. I take responsibility for not doing more investigating into something that is sensitive to the community and his family, but it is a lesson learned as it relates to political issues that occur every day in our society.

“Moving forward, I will make my own decision about what to wear on the back of my helmet,” Pouncey continued. “Make no mistake, I am against racism and I believe the best thing I can do is to continue helping repair relationships between the police and their communities. Systemic racism issues have occurred in our country for too long, and that needs to stop.” (Read more from “Player Goes Against NFL, Will Decide Who He Honors on His Helmet” HERE)

School Under Fire After One of Its Teachers Lists Kyle Rittenhouse as a Choice for a Modern Hero (VIDEO)

A Texas school is facing criticism after one of its teacher’s assignments listed Kyle Rittenhouse as a “hero for the modern age.” . . .

According to Newsweek, students at W.T. White High School in Dallas were directed to complete the assignment, which named Rittenhouse — alongside people such as César Chávez, George Floyd, Mahatma Gandhi, Malcolm X, and Joseph D. Rosenbaum, one of the people Rittenhouse purportedly killed — as subjects of an assignment titled “Hero for the Modern Age.”

Part one of the assignment directed students to choose a “hero” from the list and write a half-page biography about the subject.

Part two of the assignment directed students to write a page-long essay on the individual from the list who best demonstrates their “concept of a hero.” . . .

A spokesperson for the Dallas Independent School District told the outlet, “An unapproved assignment posted in Google Classroom yesterday has been brought to our attention.”

Wounded Veteran Blasts Biden for Telling Shocking Story About Marine With PTSD (VIDEO)

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s story about a Marine veteran with post-traumatic stress disorder was “abhorrent,” retired Marine Johnny “Joey” Jones told “Fox & Friends” on Wednesday.

Jones, who lost both of his legs in an IED explosion in Afghanistan, added that the story “shows how out of touch he is, and I’m personally offended by it.”

Jones, a Fox News contributor, made the comments reacting to a story the former vice president shared during his first general election campaign visit to Florida, the largest traditional general election battleground state, where Biden touted veteran issues.

“There was a Marine veteran that had been deployed a total of six times… Dodge Ram started down the street in front of his house. .. [He] saw a woman walking her dog, ran over her, killed her, killed the dog, put her in the back of his pickup truck… molested her … came home … and called the state police and said, ‘I just killed someone,’” Biden said in Tampa on Tuesday. . .

“It’s the worst thing I’ve ever heard a presidential candidate say about men and women serving,” Jones said reacting to Biden’s story. (Read more from “Wounded Veteran Blasts Biden for Telling Shocking Story About Marine With PTSD (VIDEO)” HERE)

GOP Senator Asks DOJ to Investigate Netflix Over Child Sexploitation Movie ‘Cuties’

Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is making the pro-pedophile left crazy and all it took was asking the Department of Justice (DOJ) to investigate Netflix for violating U.S. child pornography laws. Today’s Democrats are so focused on attacking followers of QAnon that they are in the process of publicly defending child exploitation. Aaron Rupar, a journalist at Vox, tweeted out this interview with Ted Cruz asking the DOJ to investigate Netflix for distributing the film Cuties — a film that appears to violate U.S. law. Rupar declared this as evidence that he is “tossing some red meat to GOP’s QAnon base.” In reality, Senator Cruz is asking our law-enforcement agencies to do their jobs.

The fact that QAnon followers are concerned with child-trafficking and child exploitation should not make any rational person decide “I’m against stopping child-trafficking or exploitation now,” just because some people who have some weird theories are against it. This is just evidence that the opposition to Republicans is so unhinged that no matter what Donald Trump or Republicans do (including trying to rescue sex-trafficked kids), the other side will declare it double-plus ungood. Stopping the exploitation of children on Netflix is somehow evil because Republicans are doing it, or something. Here’s a blue-checked journalist saying he would let his daughter perform sexually for an audience.

But Cruz isn’t going to let that stop him. He sent a letter to the Department of Justice asking for an official investigation into Netflix and its movie Cuties that shows underaged little girls in sexual situations, performing for sexual titillation, with close-ups of their genitals while doing suggestive twerking dances, flashing their underwear, among other horrors. Cruz wrote:

The video streaming service and content-producer Netflix is currently hosting a film entitled “Cuties” that sexualizes young girls, including through dance scenes that simulate sexual activities and a scene exposing a minor’s bare breast. I urge the Department of Justice to investigate the production and distribution of this film to determine whether Netflix, its executives, or the individuals involved in the filming and production of “Cuties” violated any federal laws against the production and distribution of child pornography.

Student Suspended for 5 Days After Showing up at High School in Person (VIDEO)

In another sign of the irregularities of life during the coronavirus pandemic, a high school senior in New York has been suspended because he wanted to attend classes in person on a day he was supposed to be learning from home. . .

He further explained that when he arrived on school grounds staff there took his temperature and he proceeded to his first-period class.

Once in class, however, his teacher noted that he was not on the class roster for the day and informed administrators who asked him to report to the principal’s office.

Stow said administrators asked him to leave the school grounds because he wasn’t supposed to be there on that day, but he refused. . .

Stow said he remained at school for the rest of the day and finished his classes but at day’s end, he was told by school officials that he was being suspended for five days. (Read more from “Student Suspended for 5 Days After Showing up at High School in Person” HERE)

University to Remove World War II Murals Because They Show Too Many White People

The University of Rhode Island recently announced plans to remove two murals depicting World War II veterans because it lacks “diversity and a sensitivity to today’s complex and painful problems,” according to the university.

Kathy Collins, vice president of student affairs, told CBS 12 she received complaints because the two folk-art murals portraying life in the GI Bill era of the 1950s “portray a very homogeneous population” and that most of the people depicted in the murals are “predominantly white.”

Collins also told the CBS news affiliate that some students told the school they “didn’t feel comfortable sitting in that space.” . . .

The public university announced the plans to cover up and replace the murals in the school’s Memorial Union in a September 3 news release. The murals are currently covered up and the school said it wants the paintings replaced before classes start. The student union is currently undergoing renovations.

At the request of the university, Arthur Sherman, a World War II veteran and alumnus of the university, painted the murals depicting students socializing and traveling to campus in 1953. (Read more from “University to Remove World War II Murals Because They Show Too Many White People” HERE)
