Senate to Vote on Abortion Ban After 20 Weeks

The U.S. Senate will soon vote on a pro-life Senate bill to ban late-term abortions — a bill that would save as many as 18,000 unborn babies form abortions each and every year.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) informed members of the Senate lat Thursday that the Senate will vote on the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act next week. During his remarks, McConnell lamented how the United States is one of just a handful of nations worldwide that allow babies to be killed in late-term abortions.

“Last week, Americans from all across the country—including many from Kentucky—came here to Washington to speak up for unborn children whom our legal system has denied the right to life. Now, Congress has an opportunity to take a step forward,” said.

“The United States is currently one of just seven countries – including China and North Korea – that permits elective abortion after 20 weeks. It is time we begin to remedy this obvious and tragic moral wrong. This long-overdue legislation would do just that,” the Senate Republican leader added. “I am pleased to have filed cloture on this bill to protect unborn children who are capable of feeling pain. I am proud to co-sponsor it, along with many of my colleagues. And I look forward to voting for it early next week.”

The House has already approved the legislation but Democrats are expected to filibuster the bill in the Senate, requiring it to get 60 votes to move forward. (Read more from “Senate to Vote on Abortion Ban After 20 Weeks” HERE)

USA Gymnastics Doctor Gets 175 Years

As his victims wept in a Michigan courtroom on Wednesday, disgraced long-time USA Gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar was sentenced to up to 175 years in prison for abusing young female gymnasts who were entrusted to his care.

“I’ve signed your death warrant,” Ingham County Circuit Court Judge Rosemarie Aquilina told Nassar, following days of accounts from about 160 of his victims.

Spectators and victims cried, applauded and embraced as Nassar, 54, wearing a dark blue jailhouse jumpsuit, was led out of the courtroom. Rachael Denhollander, the first woman to publicly accuse him in 2016, shared a hug with Angela Povilaitis, the lead prosecutor.

After the sentence decision, the president of Michigan State University, where Nassar also worked, said she was resigning after facing a barrage of criticism for not doing enough to halt the abuse . . .

Nassar, who served as the program’s physician through four Olympic Games, apologized to his victims during the hearing, telling them, “I will carry your words with me for the rest of my days.” (Read more from “USA Gymnastics Doctor Gets 175 Years” HERE)

Pathetic Atheists Attack ‘Secretive’ White House Bible Studies

The weekly Bible study attended by members of President Donald Trump’s Cabinet is once again under attack, this time from an atheist group.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) and Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) is suing the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), led by Secretary Ben Carson.

The group has issued Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests to agencies led by Cabinet secretaries who attend the Bible study to see if government resources are being used or if agency staffers feel “coerced into organizing or even participating in the religious event,” according to a press release.

No staff members attend the Bible studies, it’s for cabinet secretaries only.

FFRF and CREW sued HUD when it failed to waive fees for its FOIA requests. (Read more from “Pathetic Atheists Attack ‘Secretive’ White House Bible Studies” HERE)

Teacher Sued for Teaching Islam as ‘the True Faith’

A lawsuit has been filed against social-studies teacher Christine Jakowski and others in the Chatham School District in New Jersey for teaching public school students that Islam is “the true faith.”

Jakowski’s lesson included an explanation on how to become a Muslim and ended with a plea: “May god help us all find the true faith, Islam. Ameen.”

The Thomas More Law Center said its complaint was filed on behalf of Libby Hilsenrath and her son, a minor, after seventh-grade students at the school “were forced to endure Islamic propaganda and an explicit call to convert to Islam.”

It came during the World Cultures and Geography class.

Richard Thompson, president of Thomas More, explained: “What would people say if our public schools taught Christianity as the true faith? After watching this video, I can’t imagine any reasonable person saying this is not Islamic indoctrination. Chatham Middle School made a mockery of the First Amendment’s Establishment Clause.” (Read more from “Teacher Sued for Teaching Islam as ‘the True Faith'” HERE)

#Metoo Mom Does Something Unthinkable with Refugee Lover

A middle-age Swedish woman who took an 18-year-old Afghan refugee into her home as her lover refused to report the young man to police when he sexually assaulted her daughter, 12, reported the Swedish news site, FriaTider.

“I was afraid he would be sent back to Afghanistan,” said the unidentified woman, who works in a residential-care home for children and teens.

Ironically, the woman is active in Sweden’s #MeToo movement against sexual assault, reports FriaTider.

The #MeToo movement has been particularly active in Sweden. In the fall of 2017, tens of thousands in different industries signed petitions through their unions against sexual abuse and harassment. Thousands of women have published testimonials, exposing their alleged perpetrators . . .

The woman, 45, reportedly started a relationship with the young man while working at the home in Sölvesborg. When he “became official” and no longer qualified for HVB housing, she allowed him to move into her home that she shared with her daughter. He is identified as Abdul Dostmohammadi by the Daily Mail. ‘Muslim Land’: Woman Sets Catholic University Ablaze in Series of Revenge Attacks

A 19-year-old former student is being accused of lighting eight fires around a Catholic university’s campus in Minnesota.

Prosecutors say Tnuza J. Hassan, of Minneapolis, set the fires on the campus of St. Catherine’s University in retaliation against U.S. actions in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Star Tribune reported.

Hassan, who used to attend the school, has been charged with one count of felony first-degree arson. She allegedly told police “she wanted the school to burn to the ground and that her intent was to hurt people,” according to a complaint filed in Ramsey County District Court.

Hassan reportedly claimed that similar incidents happened on “Muslim land,” but in those cases, no one cared if any Muslims were hurt.

“You guys are lucky that I don’t know how to build a bomb because I would have done that,” she told police and fire investigators.

An earlier report from the Tribune indicated that no one was injured during the incidents, which started late Wednesday morning.

Objects such as books, toilet paper and sanitary napkins were among the items to be set on fire across St. Catherine’s campus.

Trash cans were used to start all but one of the eight fires, officials said.

The fires didn’t cause any major damage, with a chair being the largest item that was burned.

A sprinkler system in the residence hall was responsible for putting out that blaze.

Meanwhile, firefighters put out other fires by either stomping on them or using fire extinguishers.

“All of the fires were quite small and contained quite easily,” said university spokeswoman Sara Berhow.

Hassan was caught after authorities found surveillance footage of her going into a building before one of the fires broke out. She was later arrested at a residence hall.

Moreover, she reportedly told police she had written a letter to her roommate that included “radical ideas about supporting Muslims and bringing back the caliphate,” according to the complaint. Her roommates were scared by the letter, and gave it to campus security.

Hassan appeared in court on Friday. She had to surrender her passport, and bond was set at $100,000.

The former student arrived dressed in an orange jumpsuit, and what the Tribune described as a “makeshift hijab,” as she used some sort of black face covering and a white sheet wrapped around her head, leaving only her eyes exposed.

Patrick Nwaneri, an attorney representing Hassan, asked for $5,000 bail. His request was rejected by Ramsey County District Judge Sophia Vuelo, who said the accused was a threat to public safety.

Hassan is due back in court on Feb. 28 for an omnibus hearing. (For more from the author of “‘Muslim Land’: Woman Sets Catholic University Ablaze in Series of Revenge Attacks” please click HERE)

Sick: Activist Uses Photo of Disabled Girl to Promote Eugenic Abortions. The Girl’s Mother Fights Back.

An advocate for children with disabilities and complex medical needs fought back when a left-wing activist used her disabled daughter’s photo to promote eugenic abortions.

Natalie Weaver, who co-founded Advocates for Medically Fragile Kids NC, expressed outrage over the vile post featuring her 9-year-old daughter Sophia, and urged Twitter to remove it from their site. Sophia was born with Rhett syndrome and has a facial deformity.

The account using Sophia’s photo to promote abortion, @OBSIDIANSMOAK, has since been suspended.

“It is ok to think that every child matters however a lot of them do not hence the amnio test which should be a mandatory test and if it proves negative and the woman does not want to abort then all bills accrued after that is on her and the father,” said the activist’s post . . .

@TwitterSupport Just received an email that Twitter doesn’t think a person using my child’s image as the poster child to ABORT & to weed out all the “defectives” in utero is a violation. Why? Bc they won’t recognize hate toward ppl w/ disabilities in their regulations/reports. pic.twitter.com/PQLLEyQhPy

— Natalie Weaver (@Nataliew1020) January 22, 2018

Later in the day, Twitter suspended the abortion activist’s account.

Satanic Temple Fights Abortion Restrictions, on ‘Religious Grounds’

The Missouri Supreme Court is considering whether some of the state’s abortion restrictions violate the religious beliefs of a woman who is part of the Satanic Temple.

An attorney for the woman made the unusual argument Tuesday as he asked Missouri’s highest court to block the state’s mandatory three-day waiting period for abortions and requirements that doctors providing abortions give women a booklet that says “the life of each human being begins at conception,” offer them an ultrasound and give them an opportunity to hear the fetal heartbeat.

The woman traveled from southeastern Missouri to St. Louis for an abortion at a Planned Parenthood clinic in 2015. The woman, whose name is not revealed in court documents, did eventually obtain an abortion. But in a letter to her doctors that was included in court documents, she wrote that some of the state’s restrictions on abortion conflict with her beliefs to follow scientific understanding of the world.

The Satanic Temple, based in Salem, Mass., doesn’t believe in a literal Satan but sees the biblical Satan as a metaphor for rebellion against tyranny. The group has waged religious battles around the U.S. in recent years, including pushing unsuccessfully to install a statute of the goat-headed idol Baphomet outside the Arkansas and Oklahoma state capitols as counterpoints to Ten Commandments monuments. Members also proposed “After School Satan Clubs” in elementary schools from Oregon to Georgia where evangelical Christian “Good News Clubs” are operating.

James MacNaughton, an attorney for the Satanic Temple member suing over Missouri’s abortion restrictions, told the state Supreme Court that the government “should not be in the business of preaching.” (Read more from “Satanic Temple Fights Abortion Restrictions, on ‘Religious Grounds'” HERE)

By CBS News. A 15-year-old boy shot 14 people Tuesday morning at southwestern Kentucky high school, Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin said. A 15-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl died.

Five others suffered non-gunshot injuries, the governor said. The suspect in the incident at Marshall County High School in Benton, Kentucky, has been apprehended, according to officials with Marshall County Emergency Management. It was the nation’s first fatal school shooting of 2018.

Police were seen leading a teenager away in handcuffs. The shooter will be charged with murder and attempted murder, Kentucky State Police Lt. Michael Webb said.

“He was apprehended by the sheriff’s department here on site, at the school, thankfully before any more lives could be taken,” Webb said.

Police did not release any identities, nor did they describe a motive. Webb said detectives are looking into his home and background. (Read more from “14 Shot at School, at Least 2 Dead” HERE)

Kentucky School Shooting: 2 Students Killed and 17 Others Injured

By CNN. A 15-year-old male student was arrested at the scene and will be charged with murder and attempted murder, Bevin said. Marshall County Attorney Jeff Edwards said it’s likely the suspect will be charged as an adult, but his name won’t be released unless he’s indicted . . .

Daniel Austin, a 17-year-old special needs student, was hospitalized. His parents called his cell phone incessantly until someone in the emergency room picked up and said Daniel had been shot . . .

Five male students were taken to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, about 100 miles away by helicopter.

Three of them were shot in the head, one in the arm and one in the abdomen, Dr. Oscar Guillamondegui, medical director of the trauma intensive care unit, said at a news conference. He didn’t identify the students. (Read more from “Kentucky School Shooting: 2 Students Killed and 17 Others Injured” HERE)

Trump Administration Clears the Way for States to De-Fund Planned Parenthood

States who manage Medicaid in concert with the federal government will now be able to cut Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood clinics and other abortion providers, thanks to the Trump Administration.

According to the Washington Examiner, the Trump Administration has issued an order rescinding an Obama-era directive from April 2016, warning states that “restricting Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood could violate federal law.”

The Obama directive was issued as a rebuke to mostly Republican state legislators who floated the idea of blocking Planned Parenthood from receiving Medicare payments — a key part of Planned Parenthood’s funding — after several Planned Parenthood clinics were caught on video offering to sell fetal tissue and other aborted baby parts for medical research.

The Department of Justice opened its own investigation into Planned Parenthood’s fetal tissue sales in December, and an assistant attorney general requested complete copies of redacted documents obtained during a Senate Judiciary Committee investigation into the gruesome practice.

It is against the law to profit from the sale of any human organ or tissue. (Read more from “Trump Administration Clears the Way for States to De-Fund Planned Parenthood” HERE)
