Islamic Professor Taken into Custody for Rape Charges

The prominent Swiss academic Tariq Ramadan, a professor of contemporary Islamic studies at the University of Oxford, has been taken into custody by French police following accusations of rape.

A judicial source confirmed to Reuters that Ramadan was taken into custody on Wednesday. A preliminary investigation was opened after two women filed police complaints against him late last year, accusing him of rape.

Ramadan, a senior research fellow of St Antony’s College, took a leave of absence from the university last November after the two women filed complaints. He has denied the allegations and filed a complaint for slander against the author Henda Ayari, one of his accusers.

In October, Ayari, 40, who heads the women’s organisation Les Libératrices, filed a complaint with prosecutors in Rouen, France, alleging rape, sexual violence, harassment and intimidation by Ramadan. She said she was assaulted by him in a Paris hotel room in 2012.

Ayari said she had described the rape in a chapter of her book, I Chose to be Free, published in France in November 2016, giving her attacker a made-up name. In the book, Ayari describes a sex attack by an intellectual in a Paris hotel room after a conference, saying she fought back but was insulted, slapped and treated violently. 2 Basic Cable Channels Are Now Allowing the Use of the F-Word

Two basic cable channels are now allowing the use of the word “f—” on television, and more will probably follow suit.

Premium channels, like HBO and Showtime, have used the word frequently, but cable channels are accountable to advertisers and generally keep the swearing to a minimum.

“Basic cable is not subject to the guidelines of the Federal Communications Commission, so the channels’ self-regulation is based on standard mores, and what advertisers are perceived to tolerate,” Buzzfeed wrote according to The Daily Wire. “So it makes sense that in a world in which President Trump uses the word s—hole during a policy meeting, which was then followed by news divisions’ divisions to repeat the obscenity, these standards are always evolving.”

Now, Syfy and the USA Network will allow the use of the coarse word whenever they see fit, The Daily Wire reported.

“Syfy declined to put an executive on the phone to discuss the change in the internal rules, but a spokesperson said that when language — f— specifically — is deemed important to the style or plot of a show, Syfy and USA now allow it,” Buzzfeed continued. “Any show with f— airs with the TV-MA guideline, denoting that the program is meant for adult viewers.”

AMC and FX are following their lead, according to The Daily Wire.

According to Buzzfeed, the “first purposeful, uncensored ‘f—‘” was aired in 2003.

“But it was nearly 15 years ago — on July 4, 2003 — that Comedy Central aired what seems to be the first purposeful, uncensored ‘f—‘ on basic cable, during the kickoff of its programming block ‘Secret Stash,’” Buzzfeed wrote. “Secret Stash” was aired Saturdays and Sundays at 1 a.m., but it no longer exists.

Uncensored programs on Comedy Central air after midnight and are rated TV-MA.

In 2016, FX president John Landgraf addressed the use of profanity at the Television Critic Association’s 2015 summer press tour, The Washington Post reported.

“We’ve used the f-word on air now multiple times in the last several years,” Landgraf said. “So we’re on the verge of being, kind of, done with the debate or battle over language. It’s close anyway.”

According to the Daily Wire, this all started when CNN covered President Donald Trump’s alleged comment that African nations were “s—hole countries.”

The network said the word almost 200 times in one day, flashed it across the screen without censoring it and even the morning show wrote it out on a whiteboard, The Daily Wire reported. The morning show which airs from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. reportedly used the word 33 times.

“There’s no question that some of the policies and rules and words that we use have changed over the years because society has changed,” Alan Wurtzel, overseer of research and broadcast standards for NBC, told The Post in 2016.

Co-creator of Syfy’s “The Magicians” Sera Gamble said that they now “feel more like ourselves” by being able to use the word.

“We all just feel more like ourselves when we can use the word ‘f—.’ It feels honest. Over 50 Lawmakers Defend Rights of Christian Adoption Agencies

The evidence already is overwhelming that homosexual activists don’t just want their rights protected, they want Christians’ rights removed . . .

Now a related case, this time over adoption, is underway in Michigan.

Same-sex duos have filed suit against a law allowing the state to work with religious adoption agencies.

The Alliance Defending Freedom filed a friend-of-the-court brief on behalf of 53 state lawmakers there who want the challenge to the state law thrown out.

Policeman Who Adopts a Baby from Addict Gets Huge Surprise from Trump

Late last year, the nation was touched by the story of a New Mexico police officer who adopted a homeless drug addict’s newborn daughter.

But the moving story didn’t just catch the attention of millions of people across the country — the White House noticed as well.

Now, Albuquerque Police Officer Ryan Holets will attend the 2018 State of the Union address on Tuesday as the guest of President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania.

Holets, 27, will join 14 other guests seated in the fist lady’s box as the president delivers his first State of the Union. All of these guests, said White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, “represent the unbreakable American spirit.”

In a recent interview with CNN, Holets pondered the weight of being invited to one of the most important speeches of the year as a guest of the president and first lady. He even likened the experience to being in the “twilight zone.”

“We have entered the twilight zone for sure,” he said.

The Trump administration reportedly wants to highlight the story of Holets and his family as it attempts to show how hard it is working to fight the opioid epidemic.

But for the police officer himself, the message he wants to send is an even simpler one. `

“It’s changed my perspective forever,” he said. “I can’t drive anywhere without noticing people that are homeless. I can’t help but notice people that are panhandling. Then I think about everything they’ve gone through.”

Holets first entered the life of his new baby daughter in September 2017, when he responded to a report of a possible theft at a convenience store. As he was leaving, he noticed a couple injecting themselves with heroin behind the store.

The woman, 35-year-old Crystal Champ, was pregnant at the time. Holets turned on his body camera and walked up to the couple.

“Why do you have to be doing that stuff?” he can be heard asking Champ. “It’s going to ruin your baby. You’re going to kill your baby.”

Champ started crying. Later she told CNN she is addicted to crystal meth and heroin. “I’m the first one to know how bad my situation is,” she said, adding, “I know what a horrible person I am.”

At that point, Holets, who already had four children, decided to help.

“I’ve gotten so tired of seeing so many situations where I want to help but can’t,” he said. “And in that moment, I realized I had a chance to help and to heck with the risks.”

His wife, Rebecca Holets, explained that they felt called by God to adopt.

“We feel God has called us to do that,” Rebecca said. “It’s been on our hearts for a while.”

Both Champ and the baby’s father, Tom Key, agreed to let the family adopt their child, and on Oct. 12, the baby — named Hope — came into the world.

Hope needed treatment from doctors to address her withdrawals, but her adopted parents were allowed to take her home after about a week and a half.

Several months later, Hope is doing well.

“She’s gaining weight, eating well, sleeping well,” Ryan told The Washington Post. “We’re just praying and hoping for the best for her. As far as development goes, we won’t know the effects until she’s older.”

Teen in Shock: Attacked in Nightclub After Rejecting Groper

A Swedish teenager was attacked at a nightclub after turning away a man who groped her, leaving her face badly bloodied as shown in horrifying snapshots that soon went viral.

Sophie Johansson, 19, was partying at Babel in Malmö on Saturday night when an unknown man on the dance floor pulled on her bag. She told Swedish outlet Aftonbladet that when she turned around, the man grabbed her butt and between her legs. She then says she hit him to get him to stop, but he punched her in the face.

Hoping to avoid a further escalation, Johansson and her friend decided to leave — but as she was on her way out, she says the man struck her over the head with a bottle.

Graphic photos of Johansson show her face and chest covered in blood from where the bottle struck the left side of her face. She was soon brought to a hospital, where she received several stitches.

Police have yet to identify the man, whom Johansson described to the paper as being around 25 years old, 5-foot-7, with a muscular build. She also said he had dark hair and wore a dark long-sleeve shirt. Law enforcement chose not to open an investigation since the man is unknown, but is asking for tips from anyone who saw what happened. Homosexuals Lash out at Prayer, Call It the Ultimate ‘Conversion Therapy’

A woman who testified of her departure from a “wild” life as a lesbian through prayer after joining a Bible study is being blasted by a writer for the London Guardian newspaper.

“Prayer,” concludes a dismissive Josiah Hesse in the Guardian, apparently has become a new form of the much-maligned “conversion therapy.”

The reaction was prompted by a video of Emily Thomes’ testimony released by Anchored North, an evangelical media company . . .

While packaged similar to pro-LGBT marketing campaigns, Thomes’ message is that a person can be freed from same-sex attractions through the power of Jesus Christ.

Hillary Admits She Mishandled Claims Against Aide

Hillary Clinton acknowledged Tuesday evening that she mishandled the 2008 sexual-harassment claims against a male campaign staffer.

The former first lady said in a lengthy Facebook post that she understood why she was being asked in this “#MeToo” moment why she overruled her advisers and kept Burns Strider on the job despite ”his inappropriate workplace behavior.”

“The short answer is this: If I had it to do again, I wouldn’t,” Mrs. Clinton wrote in a post released just 15 minutes before President Trump’s State of the Union address.

Mrs. Clinton said she “didn’t think firing [Mr. Strider] was the best solution to the problem. He needed to be punished, change his behavior, and understand why his actions were wrong. The young woman needed to be able to thrive and feel safe. I thought both could happen without him losing his job.”

Democrats Defeat Pro-Life Senate Bill Banning Late-Term Abortions After 20 Weeks

Senate Democrats today blocked a vote on a pro-life Senate bill to ban late-term abortions — a bill that would save as many as 18,000 unborn babies form abortions each and every year.

The Senate voted today on whether to stop the Democrats’ filibuster of the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, legislation that would ban abortions after 20 weeks — as neither Congress nor state legislatures can vote to ban all abortions under Roe v. Wade. The bill highlights how unborn babies feel intense pain when they are killed in abortions. Fifty-one senators (forty-eight Republicans and three Democrats) voted to take the bill up for debate, but 60 votes were required.

Unfortunately, because Republicans don’t have 60 votes in the chamber to overcome the filibuster, Democrats successfully stopped the bill. The vote came after the White House indicated President Donald Trump would sign the bill into law.

Leading pro-life advocates blasted Democrats for preventing passage of the late-term abortion ban.

“Americans should be outraged that pro-abortion Senate Democrats refuse to protect unborn babies who can feel pain. An overwhelming majority of Americans support this bill, including 56% of Democrats and 56% of those who identify as ‘pro-choice’,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. Black Woman Sues Walmart, Claims Cosmetic Section Is ‘Racist’

By Fox News. A woman is suing Walmart over alleged instances of racial discrimination in its beauty aisles.

Essie Grundy, who was shopping at a Walmart in Southern California, was upset to find beauty products targeted toward African-Americans locked behind a glass case, while other, sometimes more expensive products were placed on open shelving.

“When I walked down the aisle and saw that Walmart had placed all of the African-American hair and skin products under lock and key, I had to pause,” Grundy said at a press conference on Friday.

Grundy also said that employees told her she needed to be brought to the register by an employee if she wanted to purchase anything, and was not allowed to touch the product prior to buying it.

Walmart Responds to Furious Customers’ Claims That It Only Locks up Beauty Products for African Americans

By Business Insider. Walmart has responded to allegations that it is racially discriminating against its customers.

On Friday news broke that the store is being sued by a customer who claims that it is segregating products by the race of the people who use them.

The plaintiff, Essie Grundy, was shopping for a comb in her local store when she found it was locked in a cabinet: “That’s when I noticed that all of the African-American products were locked up under lock and key,” Grundy told reporters at a news conference on Friday.

Walmart immediately stamped out these allegations.

Disgusting Use of Household Bleach for Children

Desperate to “cure” them of autism, some parents in the United Kingdom have started force-feeding their children bleach and turpentine. The treatment, called the Miracle or Master Mineral Solution (MMS) by advocates, is being attempted on children as young as 2 years old. MMS is made by blending a potent mixture of harsh chemicals that, combined, cook up industrial-strength bleach.

The bleach, easily purchased online, is either fed or inserted into the child through an enema. One parent who attempted the treatment told the Mirror – whose reporters investigated a Facebook group promoting the practice – that her 2-year-old child “cried really hard” when he was given his first enemas, but that things are getting “better and better.” Other misguided parents claim that behaviors associated with autism, such as rocking and chewing, decrease after the treatment is administered.

However, these perceived improvements in the child’s psychology are likely reactions of fear after experiencing the brutal treatment, experts told the Mirror. Drinking bleach can cause an intense burning sensation, chemical corrosion of the skin, and many other graphic and painful symptoms. Repeated consumption of such a harsh chemical substance can result in death.

The Mirror reports that posters to the closed Facebook group believe autism is caused by pathogens and parasites; the bleach is rumored to kill the parasites and therefore “cure” the child. These claims, however, have no scientific backing. Autism is not a result of parasites or pathogens at all – and this grim misunderstanding of autism is risking children’s lives.
