CDC Official: Syphilis Rates Among Gay Men Highest Since Before Start of HIV Epidemic

US-CDC-Logo (1)The rate of syphilis infection among homosexual men has increased to a level not seen since the start of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the 1980s, an official with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said on Capitol Hill Wednesday.

“We’re concerned about our high levels of syphilis among men who have sex with men – really we’re back to the level of disease – burden of disease – in gay men that we were seeing before HIV in this country,” said Gail Bolan, director of the CDC’s Division of STD Prevention.

She was speaking at an event held to lobby for federal funding to fight sexually transmitted diseases in the United States.

A CDC fact sheet on sexually-transmitted disease (STD) surveillance in 2014 refers to a “troubling rise in syphilis infections among men, particularly gay and bisexual men” . . .

“Men who have sex with men (MSM) account for 83 percent of male cases where the sex of the sex partner is known,” the fact sheet states. “Primary and secondary syphilis are the most infectious stages of the disease, and if not adequately treated, can lead to long-term infection, which can cause visual impairment and stroke.” (Read more from “CDC Official: Syphilis Rates Among Gay Men Highest Since Before Start of HIV Epidemic” HERE)

N.C. Governor Signs Order That Clarifies Controversial ‘Gender Identity’ Bill

Public_toilet_in_JapanResponding to criticisms over his state’s controversial new law that voids cities’ anti-discrimination rules protecting members of the LGBT community, North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory has issued an executive order that “seeks legislation to reinstate the right to sue in state court for discrimination.”

The law, HB2, spawned a lawsuit by the ACLU and brought cancellations of high-profile events that were planned to take place in North Carolina — everything from a Bruce Springsteen concert to an expansion by PayPal.

The governor said he is acting “to protect the privacy and equality of all North Carolinians,” by both clarifying the law and adding new protections.

“I have come to the conclusion that there is a great deal of misinformation, misinterpretation, confusion, a lot of passion and frankly, selective outrage and hypocrisy, especially against the great state of North Carolina,” McCrory said in a video address Tuesday, citing feedback about the bill.

The North Carolina chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union is calling McCrory’s order “a poor effort to save face,” with Acting Executive Director Sarah Preston saying that the governor’s actions “fall far short of correcting the damage done” by the bill. She added that legal protections are still lacking and that “transgender people are still explicitly targeted by being forced to use the wrong restroom.” (Read more from “N.C. Parents Enraged by LGBTQ Week at School

drapeau-arc-en-ciel-lgbtA controversial LGBTQ Appreciation Week at Windemere Ranch Middle School in San Ramon, [California] got underway Monday morning and it appears some students are choosing not to take part, even after the school modified the curriculum due to parental concerns.

More than 100 kids’ parents still don’t want their kids to hear the message, so they will go to the multi-purpose room during the lesson or will just go home early . . .

One mother said her daughter is on that leadership team but she will not be teaching the lessons with the rest of the team because of religious reasons.

“The teacher told me she had to teach to students about LGBT so I am not comfortable with that, because my daughter is a Christian, she grow up in a Christian environment, so we are not comfortable,” parent Cindy Seo said.

Other parents worried middle school kids are too young for the subject. “We talk about things pretty openly, I have my views. He’s going to develop his views. I kinda figure, well, I wish it was maybe a little later into high school period of time but it’s here, it’s what it is,” parent Phil Lim said. Pay Gap Alert: Clinton Foundation Male Execs Earn 38% More Than Women

24505995061_371b856f39_bMale executives at the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation earn 38 percent more than women executives, according to a Daily Caller News Foundation review of the foundation’s latest IRS tax filings . . .

The numbers were in stark contrast to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s campaign-oriented “Equal Pay Day” speech, which she delivered in Silicon Valley Tuesday. She charged that equal pay for women was “long overdue.”

Pay equity at The Clinton Foundation, however, doesn’t quite meet those standards.

The foundation’s highest paid executive is Frederick Post, director of “sponsor and marketing,” who has built the foundation’s assets to $247 million. He received $484,000 in annual compensation.

The highest paid woman is CEO Virginia Ehrlich. Her pay is only $201,000, less than half that of Post’s. (Read more from “Pay Gap Alert: Clinton Foundation Male Execs Earn 38% More Than Women” HERE)

Holy Bible on List of ‘Challenged’ Books at Libraries

The_Holy_BibleOn the latest list of books most objected to at public schools and libraries, one title [the Bible] has been targeted nationwide, at times for the sex and violence it contains, but mostly for the legal issues it raises . . .

“You have people who feel that if a school library buys a copy of the Bible, it’s a violation of church and state,” says James LaRue, who directs the Office for Intellectual Freedom for the American Library Association, which released its annual 10 top snapshot of “challenged” books on Monday, part of the association’s “State of Libraries Report” for 2016.

LaRue emphasized that the library association does not oppose having Bibles in public schools. Guidelines for the Office for Intellectual Freedom note that the Bible “does not violate the separation of church and state as long as the library does not endorse or promote the views included in the Bible.” The ALA also favors including a wide range of religious materials, from the Quran to the Bhagavad Gita to the Book of Mormon. LaRue added that the association does hear of complaints about the Quran, but fewer than for the Bible. (Read more from “Holy Bible on List of ‘Challenged’ Books at Libraries” HERE)

University Reportedly Expels Student From Social Work Course Over Gay Marriage Comment — but He’s Not Backing Down

Gay Marriages NYCA Masters student who posted a Facebook comment earlier this year that was critical of gay marriage was purportedly expelled from a university course as a result — and has now lost a subsequent challenge to that decision.

Felix Ngole, 38, was reportedly kicked out of the University of Sheffield two months after publishing a message on his personal page that was supportive of Kentucky clerk Kim Davis — the local government official who was briefly jailed after refusing to issue gay marriage licenses . . .

He posted the comment, which purportedly quoted from Leviticus and was critical of homosexuality, on a Facebook thread that included arguments from both sides of the debate, but after a student complained, the school reportedly took action.

The University of Sheffield’s Fitness to Practice Committee reportedly decided that his message was problematic and that he had ”transgressed boundaries which are not deemed appropriate for someone entering the Social Work profession,” so he was subsequently cut off from the class . . .

“The way I was treated made me feel that their duty of care to me immediately ended from the day they received that complaint,” he told the Telegraph before the appeal. ”I am not against people who are in same-sex relationships, that is their choice, but I am a Christian and if asked for my views I should be free to express that.” (Read more from “University Reportedly Expels Student From Social Work Course Over Gay Marriage Comment — but He’s Not Backing Down” HERE)

A Disgusting Claim Was Just Made Against This Former House Speaker – If True, It Will Ruin Him

Federal prosecutors for the first time Friday disclosed allegations of sexual misconduct against former House Speaker Dennis Hastert, saying the accusations should be considered when he is sentenced later this month in a criminal case connected to alleged hush-money payments.

According to a court filing by prosecutors, the sexual abuse took place decades ago when Hastert was a wrestling coach and teacher at Yorkville High School before being elected to Congress. Prosecutors detailed sexual encounters with teenage boys, which included inappropriate touching and having oral sex, for which the statute of limitation has expired . . .

Prosecutors hadn’t detailed the misconduct until Friday’s court filing. They said the man whom Hastert had paid was allegedly touched inappropriately by the former coach. The man, who was 14 years old at the time, gave Hastert a massage and slept in the same bed with him during a team trip to a wrestling camp. Prosecutors described encounters with three other teenagers on the wrestling team and allegations made by a woman whose now deceased brother told her Hastert abused him when he was in high school, according to the court filing. Abortionist Strangled Baby Born Alive While Nurses Stood and Watched

On March 2, 1977, Mary arrived at Westminster Community Hospital for a saline abortion . . .

The abortionist injected the saline and then left, leaving the nurses to tend to Mary. It was common for abortion doctors to inject their patients with saline and then leave, forcing the nurses to bear the emotional brunt of the abortion procedures and to dispose of the dead babies. In this case, however, Mary gave birth to a living 2-lb., 8-oz. baby girl.

At first the nurse did not realize that the baby was still alive. She clamped the cord as normal and placed her in a bucket to be taken to the pathology lab. Then the baby began moving and crying. The nurses gathered around the baby. Unsure what to do, they summoned their supervisor, who called Dr. Waddill at home. Mary was not told that her baby had been born alive – the infant was whisked away from her before she realized what had happened . . .

Dr. Waddill requested potassium chloride to inject into the baby’s heart and stop it. Dr. Cornelson prevented the nurse from getting it. Waddill then discussed throwing the baby into a bucket of water . . .

Finally, Waddill began strangling the child in full view of Cornelson and other nurses. No one stopped him. He was quoted saying, “This baby won’t stop breathing!”…He did not lose his medical license. In fact, he continued to perform abortions, and as of the year 2000, he was working for the Family Planning Associates’ chain of abortion clinics. Parents Furious Over ‘Privilege’ Quiz

Florida parents are livid at a Spanish teacher who assigned middle-school students a form titled “How privileged are you?” during class.

Seventh- and eighth-grade students at Monroe Middle School in Tampa were asked questions about race, gender, sexual orientation, disabilities, and religion during a Spanish lesson. The teacher, who has been pulled from the classroom while officials investigate, allegedly used the form as a way to promote “diversity.”

“Her sexuality and all that has nothing to do with the school,” parent Regina Stiles told WTSP-10 on Tuesday. “You’re here to teach my child a foreign language – not anything else.”

Stiles’ daughter revealed her ADHD in the form’s “mentality disability” box due to the teacher’s opinion on the condition. The child was also asked to consider boxes labeled “genderqueer” and “pansexual.” (Read more from “Parents Furious Over ‘Privilege’ Quiz” HERE)
