BACKLASH: Football Fans Tackle Atheist Group Trying to Blitz Pre-Game Prayers [+video]

The Freedom From Religion Foundation, which seems to rear its ugly head any time someone mentions God, alleges that the University of Toledo head football coach Matt Campbell violated the Constitution by leading his team in a prayer before a Sept. 15, 2012 game against Bowling Green State University, according to the Toledo Blade.

To get an idea of just how ridiculous the foundation’s case is this time, it didn’t write to University of Toledo President Dr. Sharon L. Gaber until May 21, 2015, after it was contacted by an alumnus who watched a video of the prayer titled “All Access: Toledo Rockets Pre-Game” taking place on YouTube.

In the letter, the foundation claims the prayer was “a serious and flagrant violation of the First Amendment” and it is “afraid it still continues” as Campbell is still the head coach of the team . . .

On the Blade article’s comment section many fans expressed anger over the Freedom From Religion Foundation’s latest contrived controversy.

Texas Floods 2015: After Devastation, Houston Churches Turn to God for Support

Photo Credit: International Business Times As Houston was ravaged by floods starting last weekend and continuing through Saturday night, church members here sprang into action. The Southern Baptists of Texas Convention sent 50 volunteers out to deliver food, Houston’s First Baptist Church donated money to disaster relief and Riceville Mount Olive prepared for increased applications to its benevolence fund from which members can request financial aid for rent or bills.

“That’s part of what we believe a church is supposed to do, is assist,” said Deacon Reginald Fields of Riceville Mount Olive. “It’s one of the foundations of Christianity to help those that cannot help themselves.” Speaking slowly from an office inside the church, he continued: “Jesus Christ came and gave his ultimate that we might have and because of him, we feel an obligation to do the same. We realize we can’t do it on the same scale he did, but we’re called to do it.”

In an arena a few miles away, superstar the Rev. Joel Osteen aimed to inspire the thousands who attended Sunday service at Lakewood Church, the nation’s largest. Between rambunctious band performances and colorful light shows, Osteen solemnly preached about the purpose of pain. He urged churchgoers to believe in God’s higher purpose and said God would look out for them.

“We just pray for Your comfort for their families,” he prayed out loud on stage, eyes closed. “We pray that You will help those who have lost and they will recover all.”

During the rain, drivers on Texas highways were forced to abandon their cars to floodwaters. Police pulled bodies from bayous amid mandatory evacuations. Rescue boats capsized in the surging water. Family members were reported missing. (Read more from “Texas Floods 2015: After Devastation, Houston Churches Turn to God for Support” HERE)

So Sexist, Right?: Feminists Upset Over Statue of Man and Woman Talking

Scene: You’re a woman, sitting on a bench reading a book. Your male friend sees you on the quad and comes over to say hello and talk. You put down your book, lean back against the bench and smile. He doesn’t sit next to you; instead, he puts his foot on the bench and leans over his knee.

So sexist, right?

That scene is depicted in a statue at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas, and despite no sign of distress or physical assertion, some women have decided it is a statue of “mansplaining” — a term used to describe men condescendingly explaining something to a woman.

Seriously. Here’s the actual statue and the claim of misogyny:

That tweet went viral over Memorial Day weekend. It all started when Ash Hernandez saw the statue on her way to take a teacher’s certification test. She was so outraged that she ran back to her car to get her phone to snap a picture (Read more from “So Sexist, Right?: Feminists Upset Over Statue of Man and Woman Talking” HERE)

After Doctors Advised Mom to Remove ‘Dead’ Unborn Child, Something Incredible Happened

Photo Credit: Life News Understandably, medical professionals don’t like it when they are wrong about a diagnosis, especially when it relates to a woman’s pregnancy. This is because in the past doctors and hospitals have been sued for giving incorrect information to women about their unborn babies.

For example, in 2013, a mother in England filed suit against a hospital where doctors told her she should have an abortion of her supposedly “brain dead” unborn baby. She followed their advice and took an abortion drug but her baby was still born perfectly healthy without any brain damage.

In a story published on a her website, a Jewish woman named Hadassah Sabo Milner explains how she almost lost her baby after doctors told her that her child was no longer viable. When Milner first discovered that she was pregnant, she was cautiously excited because she had already suffered two miscarriages . . .

Immediately, the Ob-Gyn wanted to perform a D&C because she believed the baby was gone and that Milner’s health could be in jeopardy. Thankfully, Milner refused because she wanted to give it more time and speak with her Rabbi about the situation. Her doctor was very reluctant to wait but granted her request and performed another ultrasound the next day . . .

Although the remainder of Milner’s pregnancy was very difficult, she delivered a healthy baby boy at 37-weeks who weighed 5lbs 12ozs. After her son was born, her doctor told her that from now on she would listen to women when they want to wait a few days before having a D&C. California Assembly Passes Bill to Make Pregnancy Centers Promote Abortions

Thousands of pregnancy centers across the nation are the counterbalance to the abortion industry by providing women with tangible help and real alternatives to abortion. But pregnancy centers in California may soon find themselves forced to promote abortions under legislation pending in the California legislature.

The state Assembly has passed AB 77, the Pregnancy Counseling Discrimination Rule, would require all pregnancy centers to promote abortions to their clients. There is no conscience clause or opt out for centers that provide pregnant women assistance without abortions or abortion referrals. Failure to comply carries a $500 fine for first offense and $1,000 for each subsequent offense. The bill authorizes the Attorney General, city attorney, or county counsel to impose the civil fines.

Lori Arnold of the California Family Alliance, says pro-life Californians need to speak up against the bill now that it heads to the California Senate.

Despite passionate opposition from pro-life legislators and thousands of concerned citizens, the California Assembly today voted 46-25 to pass AB 775, the so-called “Reproductive FACT ACT.” This highly controversial and anti-free speech bill now advances to the Senate.

“This bill strikes at the heart of free association, free political and religious speech and practice, and the self-evident truth of biology,” said Assemblyman Jim Patterson (R-Fresno). “Privately-funded Pregnancy Resource Centers, and the compassionate women who volunteer at them, have a First Amendment right to Freedom of Speech. And it is our duty as officers of the state of California to protect that right, not to assault it.” (Read more from “California Assembly Passes Bill to Make Pregnancy Centers Promote Abortions” HERE)

Boy Scouts Welcome Homosexual Adult Leaders

Robert Gates, president of the Boy Scouts of America, told a meeting of the National Organization last Thursday that the time has come to end the ban on homosexual adult leaders. Gates cited the many cultural changes taking place under threat from homosexual activists, which occurred much faster than he expected. Given anti-discrimination laws in several states, and same-sex marriage decisions where the courts had overthrown State Constitutional Amendments (such as has occurred in Alaska), Gates stated “The status quo in our movement’s membership standards cannot be sustained.”

Robert Gate’s background includes service as Secretary of Defense, where he has trod this path before, knuckling under to gay activists and repealing the “Don’t Ask – Don’t Tell” policy. Since then, gay and lesbian “marriage” and associated publicly funded benefits have been forced on the military. Military Chaplains, consequently, have been vigorously prosecuted for offering a biblical opinion, even in private counseling situations.

Despite erroneous media reports, the BSA change is not yet in effect. However, Gates is giving public notice that fundamental changes are coming. To his credit, he made clear that he desires to “change our policy to allow charter partners – Unit Sponsoring Organizations – to determine the standards for their Scout leaders. Such an approach would allow all churches, which sponsor some 70% of our Scout Units, to establish leadership standards consistent with their faith. We must, at all costs, preserve the religious freedom of our church partners to do this.”

However, this approach is problematic for several reasons: First; it throws the burden of legally defending traditional values upon the churches and Christ-centered non-profits which charter BSA Troops across the country. Once activists target one or two out of the thousands of these churches in selected lawsuits, precedent will be set and deferral to faith-based Chartering Organizations will be at great risk.

In addition, this approach may put the churches themselves at risk beyond their affiliation with BSA: The BSA is not a Christ centered program, so the church is at risk when it charters a BSA unit, and then claims a religious expression exemption as to why it won’t accept gay leaders.

Overall, Gate’s announcement highlights the fact that a character-development organization can scarcely accomplish it’s mission if it lacks what C.S. Lewis called “an eternal reference point.” For Christians, this is Scripture, and Scripture makes clear reference to what is appropriate, moral sexual behavior, and what is not.

Gate’s announcement comes as BSA membership plunged for a second year following the adoption of it’s most recent policy, which allows gay youth but not gay adult leaders. Deeper analysis is even more troubling, in that Cub Scouts are suffering an even steeper decline in many Councils.

Of course, the truly “tolerant” approach would be to live and let live. Activists could establish another scouting organization to advance and promote leftist values, and leave the Boy Scouts alone. However, just as homosexual activists have used raw governmental power to silence Christians in the military, they are now using all tools available to remake America’s bedrock institutions into their own image, and with the help of a complicit, leftist judiciary, silencing all dissent.

AFC encourages parents to be vigilant, and carefully monitor the upcoming proposal. Those who care about our youth, and Scouting in particular, would do well to read the text of Robert Gates comments HERE to gain a full understanding of the issues.

And the Girl Scouts…

Girl-Scouts-Transgender-Males.jpgThe previous week, Girl Scouts USA published it’s policy allowing the enrollment of transgendered youth: “If the child is recognized by the family and school/community as a girl and lives culturally as a girl, then Girl Scouts is an organization that can serve her in a setting that is both emotionally and physically safe.”

The complete policy may be found HERE.

This means girls in the organization will be learn from an early age to recognize and accept transgenderism as a normal lifestyle.

As with BSA,, Girl Scouts USA is losing members – down over a million since 2003. While there are many outstanding Girl Scout volunteers, the national organization’s curriculum continues to point girls toward leftist, “progressive” role models and organizations. More well-documented concerns about the GS USA national organization can be found at Speak Now Girl Scouts.

Alaska Family Council urges parents to be familiar with the leaders and policies of any organization that they entrust to influence the character formation of their children. We recall the words of our Savior “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.” Mark 9:42

Western Women Who Join Islamic State Defy ‘Jihadi Bride’ Stereotype

Western women joining Islamic State are increasingly from comfortable backgrounds and often well educated with romantic notions of adventure often quickly dispelled by the harshness of life as a “Jihadi bride”, according to a British research report.

Some 550 women from Western countries have left their homelands to join Islamic State, which has captured swathes of Syria and Iraq, said the report by the Institute for Strategic Dialogue and the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation at King’s College, London.

However, very little was being done to explain why there had been this “unprecedented surge” to Islamic State, also known as ISIS, or to take preventative action.

“Western female recruits to ISIS are breaking previous stereotypes about who is ‘at risk’ of radicalization into jihadism and violent extremist networks,” said the report titled “Till Martyrdom Do Us Part” . . .

“The responsibility of Western women under ISIS-controlled territory is first and foremost to be a good wife to the jihadist husband they are betrothed to and to become a mother to the next generation of jihadism,” the report said. Should Transgender Parents Be Able to Adopt? A Daughter of A “Transgender” Man Begs America to Wake Up!

Photo Credit: Newscom I can testify to the emotional strain and confusion that my [transgender] father’s life played in my sexual and gender identity. I sought out our neighbors for a foster father. Many times I pretended that one of my uncles or a friend’s father was my make-believe father. . .

My father experimented with my make-up and clothes, and by 7th grade I had decided that alcohol was the easiest method to numb my own pain. By the beginning of high school, I wondered if life was worth living.

There is nothing more painful for a daughter than to watch her dad put on a bra or have him wear your clothes. No daughter should have to place her clothes in her dresser drawers by a code so she can know if he had been pawing through her underclothes.

It is not fair or healthy for a daughter to feel guilty about her developing body, or about becoming a woman. But in today’s world we encourage children to accept their parent’s sexual desires. We prioritize adult’s sexual preferences ahead of what is best for their children.

I’m begging America to wake up to what is being done for the sake of society and for children worldwide! This cultural celebration of transgenderism, for me as a daughter of a transgender father, is misguided and insensitive. (Read more from “Should Transgender Parents Be Able to Adopt? Bristol Palin Addresses ‘Elephant-In-The-Room,’ Opens up About Wedding That Didn’t Happen

Photo Credit: Bristol Palin By Oliver Darcy. Bristol Palin turned to her blog Tuesday to address the “elephant-in-the-room” and open up to fans about her wedding to Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer that was suddenly called off.

“I feel like I need to address the elephant-in-the-room on this blog, since you guys have been with me through thick and thin. When I first got engaged, you were the first ones I wanted to tell,” wrote Bristol, daughter of former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

“I guess you have seen by now that the wedding — that was supposed to happen last weekend — was called off,” she continued. “I’m sure you’ve seen this has been all over the media, but this is a painful time for family and friends and I would just really appreciate your prayers.” (Read more from “Bristol Palin Addresses ‘Elephant-In-The-Room,’ Opens up About Wedding That Didn’t Happen” HERE)

Examiner Reports Bristol Palin Fiancé Dakota Meyer Already Married

By Victoria Miller. Bristol Palin and her fiancé Dakota Meyer made headlines for their recent engagement, but a new report reveals that the war hero has already been married. On Friday, Radar Online posted a marriage certificate that reveals Meyer was married to a Michigan woman. The official document shows Meyer and Cassandra Wain were married in Campbellsville, Kentucky, on May 20, 2008. It’s unclear if the two are now officially divorced because information about the marriage is sealed. While it’s impossible to determine the current status of the union, the news of Meyer’s first wife is a surprise.

In March, Palin announced her engagement to Meyer, a former U.S. Marine who received the U.S. Medal of Honor in 2011, making him the third living recipient of the award since Vietnam. Bristol’s mom, Sarah Palin, posted a lengthy message about her daughter’s engagement to Meyer on Facebook, revealing that her family is honored to welcome the war hero into their clan. Descriving her future son-in-law as an “American hero,” the onetime vice-presidential candidate said Meyer is a kind man who loves both Bristol and her young son, Tripp. (Read more from this story HERE)

Illinois Couple Who Welcomed 100th Grandchild: ‘We Just Love Them All’

Baby Jaxton Leo Zanger recently became the 100th grandchild for one Illinois couple. Technically, the little guy entered the world as their 46th great-grandchild. He joins 53 grandchildren and one great-great grandchild . . .

“We just love them all and they’re all so precious,” said Leo Zanger, who calls his newest family member, born April 8, “just another precious little bundle.”

Leo and his wife, Ruth, recently celebrated their 59th anniversary. They have 12 children: The oldest is 58 and the youngest, now 31, was an uncle to 10 kids by the time he was born.

Most of the family still lives in or near Quincy, Illinois, where Leo runs a real estate agency that also employs four sons, one daughter and two daughters-in-law.

The grandchild who lives the farthest away — about a three-hour drive — is also the oldest at 39, said Donna Lane, one of Zanger’s 12 children and the unofficial family historian. (Read more from “Illinois Couple Who Welcomed 100th Grandchild: ‘We Just Love Them All'” HERE)
