The Left Is Schizoid on Sexuality‏

The left is hopelessly schizoid on the issue of sexuality. Those on the left celebrate changes in gender but want to criminalize those who help others make changes in sexual orientation.

This is illustrated by two stories currently in the news. One is, of course, the celebrated gender “change” in Bruce Jenner, who now claims to be a woman even though he is still a man in every single solitary cell of his body, and will be until the day he dies.

He has been lionized by the media, celebrated as a hero (or, heroine, as the case may be) and granted an award by ESPN for courage. He has sold a record number of magazines as the cover boy on Vanity Fair . . .

There is now a concerted effort underway to squash all conversion therapy everywhere in the United States. Three states, Oregon, California, and New Jersey, along with Washington D.C., have banned such therapy for minors, and a bill has been introduced in Congress that will ban reparative therapy for anybody of any age everywhere.

The American Psychological Association wrote in 2009, “Enduring change to an individual’s sexual orientation is uncommon.” Well, “uncommon” is hardly the same as “impossible.” The APA’s own report on sexual orientation change says that “for some, sexual-orientation identity is fluid or has an indefinite outcome.” If it’s “fluid,” then logic dictates that change can take place from gay to straight as well as from straight to gay. Parents Outraged Over This Disgusting High School Extra Credit Assignment

The teacher’s extra-credit assignment requested that Encinal High School students scour through their parent’s dresser drawers in search of condoms, sex toys or anything provocative and snap a selfie of themselves, according to KPIX-TV.

It is unclear whether any students actually turned in the assignment or what the teacher may have done with the assignments. It’s also unknown which class this was an assignment for and why.

When high school officials heard about the teacher’s homework assignment, they contacted the administrators with the Alameda Unified School District, who launched an investigation into the allegations, district spokeswoman Susan Davis said . . .

“We take reports like this seriously,” Davis said. “We know that it’s hard for the public, and especially for parents, to hear that we can’t talk about the details of the investigation in public. But that information has to be kept confidential, both to protect the rights of all involved and to preserve the integrity of the investigation” . . .

District officials expect to wrap up their investigation next week, but by then, school will be over for the year. (Read more from “Parents Outraged Over This Disgusting High School Extra Credit Assignment” HERE)

Women’s College Votes to Admit Transgender Women; US Air Force Changes Rules on Transgenders

Photo Credit: AP By Associated Press. Barnard College has decided to admit transgender women, becoming the latest women’s college to issue a new policy acknowledging the fluidity of gender.

The new policy, announced Thursday, says Barnard will consider applicants who consistently live and identify as women. That excludes transgender men — those born female but identifying as male. The decision is an attempt to balance Barnard’s identity as a women’s college with what the school calls “an evolving understanding of gender identity.” (Read more from “Women’s College Votes to Admit Transgender Women” HERE)

Air Force Eases Rules on Transgender Troops

By Mark Hensch. The Air Force will announce Thursday that it will offer more protections for its transgender service members against potential discharge.

Troops diagnosed with gender dysphoria or who identified as transgender were typically discharged in the past on medical grounds, according to USA Today.

Doctors and unit commanders were previously in charge of those diagnoses, it reported.

The Air Force’s new measures will require such judgments to receive review from high-level officials at the military branch’s headquarters.

“Though the Air Force policy regarding involuntary separation of gender dysphoric Airmen has not changed, the elevation of decision authority to the Director, Air Force Review Boards Agency, ensures the ability to consistently apply the existing policy,” Daniel Sitterly, a top Air Force personnel, said in a statement. 101 Arrested in Child Sex, Prostitution Sting in Lake, Polk Counties

By Dave D’Marko. More than 100 people have been arrested in a large-scale, two-county operation that targeted cyber crimes and prostitution, authorities said Tuesday.

The two-week joint sting, known as “Operation L and P,” netted 101 arrests in both Lake and Polk counties. The investigation concluded late last week . . .

Many of the people arrested had jobs working with children, including theme park workers at Universal Orlando and SeaWorld, and a former Walt Disney World cast member who left that job before his arrest . . .

Ahmed Saleem, a Muslim youth coordinator, was also one of the men arrested. Investigators said the men all traveled to a home in Clermont with the hopes of having sex with a child . . .

Saleem is also the founder of the Saleem Academy, an organization empowering Muslim youth globally and also served as the Orlando coordinator for CAIR, the Counsel On Islamic American Relations. (Read more from this story HERE)

Huckabee Won’t Be Bullied Into Bruce-Love: I Wish I’d Known If I ‘Felt Like a Woman’ I’d Get to Shower With Them

Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee is pulling no punches in going after accommodations being made for transgender people.

In a video released by World Net Daily and uncovered by Buzzfeed, the former Arkansas governor told the crowd at the February National Religious Broadcasters Convention in Nashville, Tenn., that changes to accommodate men and women who want to live as the opposite gender pose a “threat” to society.

“For those who do not think that we are under threat, simply recognize that the fact that we are now in city after city watching ordinances say that your 7-year-old daughter, if she goes into the restroom, cannot be offended and you can’t be offended if she’s greeted there by a 42-year-old man who feels more like a woman than he does a man,” Huckabee said.

“I wish that someone told me that when I was in high school that I could have felt like a woman when it came time to take showers in P.E.,” he added. “I’m pretty sure that I would have found my feminine side and said, ‘Coach, I think I’d rather shower with the girls today.’

“There’s something inherently wrong with forcing little children to be a part of this social experiment,” Huckabee said. “I’m not against anybody, I’d just like for somebody to bring their brain to work someday and not leave it on the bed stand when they show up to govern.” (Read more from “Huckabee Won’t Be Bullied Into Bruce-Love: I Wish I’d Known If I ‘Felt Like a Woman’ I’d Get to Shower With Them'” HERE)

Emails Suggest Bias in Case Against Bakers Who Refused to Bake Homosexual Cake [+video]

Photo Credit: The Daily Signal The Daily Signal has exclusively learned that the government agency responsible for enforcing Oregon’s anti-discrimination law appears to be working closely with a powerful gay rights advocacy group in its case against Aaron and Melissa Klein, owners of Sweet Cakes by Melissa.

Communications between the agency, the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries, and the LGBT organization, Basic Rights Oregon, raise questions about potential bias in the state’s decision to charge the Kleins with discrimination for refusing to make a cake for a same-sex wedding.

In April, a judge for the agency recommended the Kleins be fined $135,000.

Communications obtained through a public records request show employees of the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries—which pursued the case against the Kleins—participating in phone calls, texting, and attending meetings with Basic Rights Oregon, the largest LGBT advocacy group in the state . . .

It is unclear what occurred during these meetings and phone calls, but the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries commissioner, who is in charge of determining the Kleins’ final punishment, met with Basic Rights Oregon on multiple occasions and purchased tickets costing hundreds of dollars benefiting the advocacy group. Teacher Threatened With Fine for Violating Michelle O’s School Snack Rules

Students and parents are rallying to the defense of a teacher who is accused of violating federal school snack rules.

The Williamson PreK-8 teacher, who was not identified, would give her students “wrapped candy” as a reward for their hard work and good behavior.

Because the practice was an alleged violation of the federal rules championed by first lady Michelle Obama, Mingo County Schools Director of Child Nutrition Kay Maynard “placed a call to officials at the West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) to report the incident,” the Williamson Daily News reports.

Maynard also spoke to Williamson PreK-8 principal Shannon Blackburn, telling him about the possibility of a monetary fine for the teacher . . .

Administrators at the WVDE decided the teacher’s violation was not a “deliberate attempt” to break Michelle Obama’s rules and said instead of fining the teacher, they required the department to “develop a corrective action plan to include training on child nutrition policies.” (Read more from “Teacher Threatened With Fine for Violating Michelle O’s School Snack Rules” HERE)

BACKLASH: Football Fans Tackle Atheist Group Trying to Blitz Pre-Game Prayers [+video]

The Freedom From Religion Foundation, which seems to rear its ugly head any time someone mentions God, alleges that the University of Toledo head football coach Matt Campbell violated the Constitution by leading his team in a prayer before a Sept. 15, 2012 game against Bowling Green State University, according to the Toledo Blade.

To get an idea of just how ridiculous the foundation’s case is this time, it didn’t write to University of Toledo President Dr. Sharon L. Gaber until May 21, 2015, after it was contacted by an alumnus who watched a video of the prayer titled “All Access: Toledo Rockets Pre-Game” taking place on YouTube.

In the letter, the foundation claims the prayer was “a serious and flagrant violation of the First Amendment” and it is “afraid it still continues” as Campbell is still the head coach of the team . . .

On the Blade article’s comment section many fans expressed anger over the Freedom From Religion Foundation’s latest contrived controversy.

Texas Floods 2015: After Devastation, Houston Churches Turn to God for Support

Photo Credit: International Business Times As Houston was ravaged by floods starting last weekend and continuing through Saturday night, church members here sprang into action. The Southern Baptists of Texas Convention sent 50 volunteers out to deliver food, Houston’s First Baptist Church donated money to disaster relief and Riceville Mount Olive prepared for increased applications to its benevolence fund from which members can request financial aid for rent or bills.

“That’s part of what we believe a church is supposed to do, is assist,” said Deacon Reginald Fields of Riceville Mount Olive. “It’s one of the foundations of Christianity to help those that cannot help themselves.” Speaking slowly from an office inside the church, he continued: “Jesus Christ came and gave his ultimate that we might have and because of him, we feel an obligation to do the same. We realize we can’t do it on the same scale he did, but we’re called to do it.”

In an arena a few miles away, superstar the Rev. Joel Osteen aimed to inspire the thousands who attended Sunday service at Lakewood Church, the nation’s largest. Between rambunctious band performances and colorful light shows, Osteen solemnly preached about the purpose of pain. He urged churchgoers to believe in God’s higher purpose and said God would look out for them.

“We just pray for Your comfort for their families,” he prayed out loud on stage, eyes closed. “We pray that You will help those who have lost and they will recover all.”

During the rain, drivers on Texas highways were forced to abandon their cars to floodwaters. Police pulled bodies from bayous amid mandatory evacuations. Rescue boats capsized in the surging water. Family members were reported missing. (Read more from “Texas Floods 2015: After Devastation, Houston Churches Turn to God for Support” HERE)

So Sexist, Right?: Feminists Upset Over Statue of Man and Woman Talking

Scene: You’re a woman, sitting on a bench reading a book. Your male friend sees you on the quad and comes over to say hello and talk. You put down your book, lean back against the bench and smile. He doesn’t sit next to you; instead, he puts his foot on the bench and leans over his knee.

So sexist, right?

That scene is depicted in a statue at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas, and despite no sign of distress or physical assertion, some women have decided it is a statue of “mansplaining” — a term used to describe men condescendingly explaining something to a woman.

Seriously. Here’s the actual statue and the claim of misogyny:

That tweet went viral over Memorial Day weekend. It all started when Ash Hernandez saw the statue on her way to take a teacher’s certification test. She was so outraged that she ran back to her car to get her phone to snap a picture (Read more from “So Sexist, Right?: Feminists Upset Over Statue of Man and Woman Talking” HERE)
