Judge Orders Baker to Serve Gay Couples Despite his Religious Beliefs

A Colorado judge says a baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a same-sex ceremony must serve gay couples despite his religious beliefs, a ruling that a civil rights group hailed as a victory for gay rights.

Administrative Law Judge Robert N. Spencer ruled Friday that Jack Phillips, the owner of the Masterpiece Cakeshop in suburban Denver, will face fines if he continues to turn away gay couples who want to buy wedding cakes.

“The undisputed facts show that Respondents (Phillips) discriminated against Complainants because of their sexual orientation by refusing to sell them a wedding cake for their same-sex marriage,” Spencer wrote.

Last year, David Mullins and Charlie Craig visited the Masterpiece Cakeshop to order a cake for their upcoming wedding reception. The couple had planned to marry in Massachusetts and hold a reception in Colorado.

Phillips told the men that he could not bake their cake because of his religious beliefs opposing same-sex marriage. He offered to make them any other baked item, but not a wedding cake. The couple immediately left the shop and later filed a complaint with the Colorado Civil Rights Division.

Abortion Rates Fall to Their Lowest Points in Over 30 Years

Photo Credit: LifeNews The CDC expanded on its figures it released last week showing that abortions dropped another three percent in 2010 and are down 8 percent over the last two years. The new report shows the abortion rate has fallen to its lowest point in over 30 years.

The new report said: “The abortion rate was the lowest recorded during the 1976–2009 period and has dropped almost continuously since 1980. The abortion rate in 2009 (18.5) was 32% lower than in 1990 (27.4). The 2009 abortion rate for teenagers (16.6 per 1,000) was less than one-half the rate in 1991 (37.4) and 1990 (40.3).”

Among pregnant unmarried women, the abortion rate fell from 47.7 per 1,000 in 1990 to 28.9 per 1,000 in 2009. Among pregnant married women, the abortion rate fell from 10.6 per 1,000 to 6.1 per 1,000 over the same time. Combined, the rate fell about a third and is the lowest since 1976 — just three years after the Supreme Court allowed virtually unlimited abortions in Roe v. Wade..

Abortion Destroying Minority Communities: 82% of Abortions in NYC, 64% in Texas, Black and Hispanic Babies

Photo Credit: LifeNewsThe new report from the Centers for Disease Control had good numbers across the nation when it came to abortion — with abortions declining three percent in 2010 after a five percent decrease in 2009. But they also contained shocking figures showing abortion targets blacks and Hispanics.

The CDC Abortion Surveillance Report dated November 29, 2013 reveals that in 2010, 56.7% of abortions reported to the CDC nationwide were done on Hispanic and Black women.

According to the report, there were 415,479 abortions for known ethnicity reported for selected states in 2010 and 153,045 (or 36.8 percent) were non-Hispanic white babies, 148,261 (or 35.7 percent) were non-Hispanic black babies, 87,240 (or 21.0 percent) were Hispanic babies, and 26,933 (or 6.5 percent) were babies of other races or ethnicities.

The report reveals that a majority of Black or Hispanic babies were aborted in New Jersey (55.9 percent), the District of Columbia (64.8 percent) and Georgia (73.2 percent). In New York City alone 81.9 percent of the babies aborted were Black or Hispanic while in the state of Texas 63.7 percent were Black or Hispanic an increase from 2009.

One leading pro-life activist tells LifeNews the CDC report confirms what many pro-life groups have been saying about abortion and the founder of the Planned Parenthood abortion business, that a eugenics-based racial discrimination is involved.

Women File Hundreds of Complaints Against Indiana Abortionist

Women have filed more than 600 complaints against an Indiana-based abortion practitioner saying he submitted false and misleading reports to state health officials about their abortions.

Representatives from Indiana Right to Life and Lake County Right to Life held a press conference late Tuesday announcing that 626 consumer complaints were filed against Gary’s Friendship Family Planning abortion doctor Ulrich Klopfer, who lives in Illinois but does abortions in Indiana. Each complaint is the result of a terminated pregnancy report containing errors or omissions, the group says.

Klopfer is the same abortion practitioner who has come under fire for failing to report abortions on teen girls who were victims of rape.

Indiana law requires abortion doctors to submit terminated pregnancy reports to the Indiana State Department of Health for every abortion performed. Complaints were sent today to the Indiana Attorney General and delivered to the Lake County Prosecutor. The complaints come less than two months after 17 women filed nearly 500 complaints against Klopfer for improper terminated pregnancy reports for abortions done in Allen County, Indiana.

As the groups informed LifeNews, “Lake County Right to Life and Indiana Right to Life requested copies of the publicly-available terminated pregnancy reports from the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) and reviewed each report supplied by ISDH for abortions done between July 2011 and June 2013. Every terminated pregnancy report had errors or omissions, ranging between one and 15 mistakes per report. In total, pro-life officials found 3,678 errors and omissions on the 626 reports.

Notre Dame Sues Obama: We Won’t Obey the HHS Mandate

Photo Credit: LifeNews The University of Notre Dame is back in court taking on the Obama administration and its pro-abortion HHS mandate that forces religious companies, organizations, and schools to pay for birth control and abortion-causing drugs for their employees.

Earlier this year, a federal judge dismissed the lawsuit Notre Dame filed against the HHS mandate. U.S. District Judge Robert L. Miller Jr. dismissed the suit, claiming that Notre Dame is sufficiently protected by a very narrowly-drawn religious exemption in the mandate — that pro-life legal groups say does not apply to every religious entity.

Notre Dame, Franciscan University of Steubenville, and dozens of Catholic hospitals and organizations have filed multiple lawsuits against Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and the Obama administration over the controversial HHS mandate.

The lawsuit challenges the Obama administration’s unprecedented mandate that attacks the freedom to practice religion without government interference. Under the HHS mandate, employers must provide insurance coverage that includes abortion-inducing drugs, as well as contraceptives and sterilization procedures.

“Our abiding concern in both the original filing of May 21, 2012, and this re-filing has been Notre Dame’s freedom — and indeed the freedom of many religious organizations in this country — to live out a religious mission,” Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., Notre Dame’s president, said. “We have sought neither to prevent women from having access to services, nor even to prevent the government from providing them.”

Top Planned Parenthood Official ‘Disappointed’ Plan B Hasn’t Changed Unplanned Pregnancy Rate

Photo Credit: LifeSiteNews “Plan B,” the “morning-after” contraceptive pill, which can be taken up to 72 hours after sex, was supposed to be the “magic bullet” for women who failed to plan ahead.

But Planned Parenthood’s chief medical official admitted this week to NPR that despite the widespread availability of “Plan B,” the rate of unintended pregnancy in the U.S. has held steady, representing about 50 percent of all pregnancies.

“While there’s a lot of data to show it can prevent pregnancy in individual women, we’ve all been disappointed that on the population level, it just hasn’t had the effect we hoped,” Deborah Nucatola, senior director of medical services at the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, told NPR. “The unintended pregnancy rate hasn’t changed at all.”

Previously, Nucatola and others at Planned Parenthood had touted the high-dose hormone pill – which prevents pregnancy by blocking ovulation, or prevents a fertilized egg from implanting – as the definitive answer to stopping unintended pregnancy.

Forgot to take your birth control pills? No problem. The condom broke? No problem. You’re twelve years old and afraid to talk to your parents about sex, but you’ve been having it anyway? No problem. “Plan B” was supposed to have you covered.

Mother With Multiple Sclerosis Loses Her Health Coverage Due to Obamacare

Photo Credit: Life News Please pray for Whitney Johnson. We shared her story on the Sean Hannity show on Friday and have been promoting her story nationwide. Today she sent us an update and prayer request, and she said we could share with you.

She’s a beautiful 26-year-old mother with M.S. and, due to ObamaCare, her health plan was canceled. The problems are getting worse. Please read and pray. This is happening to real Americans.

Whitney’s request, “Pray for me this morning, I actually just found out moments ago that in order to be added to my husband’s insurance (which is the route I thought I was going to be able to go) it is going to cost me $900 per month, and the insurance is awful. It doesn’t cover my treatments, and I have to pay $5k out of pocket before any co-insurance even picks up! We simply can not afford $900 per month for my health care alone. I also got word that my friend with type 1 diabetes just got quoted a premium of $600 per month with a $14,000 deductible!!! This is just outrageous. I trust The Lord will provide for me and my family or just heal my body so I no longer need treatments. I ask for you to pray.” #teamwhitney

Here is Whitney’s original letter to us at CWA:

I am one of the Americans that have already been affected by the Affordable Care Act. I am one of many who have been lied to over and over again by our president. I am one of many other fellow countrymen who have preexisting conditions. I am one who has already received my termination of coverage letter from my current insurance company. The letter informed me, as of December 31, I no longer have medical insurance coverage through my current provider because my plan “does not conform to the Affordable Care Act.” I too, as well as you, sat and listened to Obama promise that if “you like your current insurance, you can keep your current insurance.” We also heard him tell us as a nation that we would save on average of $2,500 per household. So when I opened my letter I received from my insurance company, I felt like I was living what Nancy Pelosi said back in 2010, that “we have to pass the Healthcare bill so that we can find out what is in it.” When I opened my letter I did indeed find out firsthand what was in ObamaCare — lies, lies, and more lies. Before you tune me out and accuse me of being a radical conservative, understand that I’m neither a democrat nor republican; I’m an American. An American that wants to see our country restored to its original intent. A country for the people, by the people. A country that once again can stand up and say, “In God we trust!” I want my little boy to be raised in an America where he still has opportunities. Where he learns to work hard for what he earns; not stand in line and wait for a hand out.

Common Core Being Rammed Through West Virginia

Photo Credit: Jim MullenThe Parkersburg News (Parkersburg, West Virginia) report of Tuesday’s Wood County Board of Education meeting stated board members were presented a one hour and 40-minute presentation on the next-generation standards (sanitized new code words for Common Core State Standards Initiative.) The article stated the talk was tailored to answer a lot of pointed questions directed to the board by this writer concerning Common Core.

It’s true this writer asked many questions about Common Core and about what is going on with education in this county. However, I also asked the board and administration to address their answers to the parents, voters, and taxpayers of Wood County in a well-advertised Town Hall-style meeting where public questions could be aired, and the board and administration could interact with taxpayers and parents in discussions about education in our county; and Common Core.

Noticeably, this staged performance was veiled under “curriculum report” on the agenda. No one reading the agenda could have known the discussion would cover Common Core.

Trey Gowdy: Obama Deceived Women

Photo Credit: APSpeaking out against the contraceptive mandate, South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy accused the president of winning the election by misleading women voters.

“The president knows he is not going to win this case. But what he did win was an election. He won election in part by deceiving women and the so-called war on women,” Gowdy said Wednesday on Fox News’s “On the Record.” “He knows he is not going to win this in Supreme Court, but he won in 2012. That was his real objective.”
