Judge: Sperm-Donor Baby Belongs With Mother and Father, Not Mom’s Lesbian Ex

An Oklahoma judge ruled on Thursday that a baby created for a lesbian couple using purchased sperm belongs with his biological mother and father, not his mom’s female ex.

Kris Williams argued that because she helped raise the toddler with her now ex-wife Rebekah Wilson and since she is listed on his birth certificate, she deserves full parental rights. Oklahoma County District Judge Lynne McGuire rejected that claim and said that Oklahoma law detailing parentage trumps the state’s legalization of same-sex marriage.

“[The act] does not take into account same-sex marriage, and there is no presumption that the wife of the mother is automatically presumed the parent of a child born during the marriage,” McGuire wrote.

Williams, McGuire said, “was able to prove by a preponderance of the evidence that she acted in a parental role during her marriage” but ultimately, “there was no evidence presented regarding the length of time it would take to establish a ‘meaningful emotional relationship with the child.’”

That meant giving Harlan Vaughn, the couple’s sperm supplier who is now in a relationship with Wilson, full parental rights. McGuire said Williams, who never legally adopted the child nor birthed him, did not qualify for a “mother–child relationship” under state law. Poll: Majority of Black Americans Believe Gender Is ‘Determined by Sex Assigned at Birth’

A Pew Research poll for February 2023 reveals that over two-thirds of black Americans believe gender is “determined by the sex assigned at birth.”

The poll, titled “Black Americans’ views on transgender and nonbinary issues,” asks about gender, discrimination, and transgender issues.

When asked if a person is determined to be a man or a woman “by the sex assigned at birth” or if people can be different from the sex they were “assigned at birth,” 68% of all black adults said a person’s gender is the same as the sex at birth, with 31% saying it can change.

For those who agree that gender is determined by sex at birth, more college-educated and degree recipients say the same (72% and 70%), as opposed to 64% of high school-educated individuals.

Conservatives agree with the statement at a 70% rate, with moderates at 75%, and liberals at just 51%. (Read more from “Poll: Majority of Black Americans Believe Gender Is ‘Determined by Sex Assigned at Birth’ HERE)

New York Times Publishes Op-Ed Defending J.K. Rowling’s Trans Views Amid Accusations of Anti-Trans Bias

An op-ed article in The New York Times has expressed support for J.K. Rowling’s views on transgender issues, following the publication of two open letters on Wednesday alleging the paper’s past coverage of child sex changes was biased against transgender people.

The New York Times published an op-ed titled “In Defense of J.K. Rowling” by columnist Pamela Paul one day after nearly 200 of the newspaper’s contributors signed a joint letter accusing The New York Times of “anti-trans bias” and aligning their views with “far-right hate groups,” which was followed by a second letter led by LGBT advocacy group GLAAD and signed by activists and public figures.

“Our journalism strives to explore, interrogate and reflect the experiences, ideas and debates in society — to help readers understand them. Our reporting did exactly that and we’re proud of it,” said Charlie Stadtlander, a spokesman for the Times, adding that on the subject of transgender issues, the consideration that went into their reporting was done “deeply and empathetically.”

The New York Times has found itself embroiled in a heated debate on transgender issues after publishing articles in recent months that attempted to take a fair and balanced approach on the subject of pediatric social and medical transition.

Backlash from the reporting culminated in two open letters that were published on Wednesday, one from 200 New York Times staff and contributors to Philip B. Corbett, associate managing editor for standards at the Times, and the other from GLAAD, an LGBT advocacy organization, signed by celebrities and activists. Harrison Butker Was Wearing a Scapular When He Kicked Super Bowl-Winning Field Goal

NFL kicker Harrison Butker was spotted wearing a Brown Scapular before nailing a Super Bowl-winning 27-yard field goal for his Kansas City Chiefs over the Philadelphia Eagles.

In his postgame press conference Sunday night, the practicing Catholic once again gave “all glory to God,” just like he did two weeks prior after kicking the Chiefs to an AFC Championship victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

“You just got to go out and focus on what you can control — and I kind of had the easy job there,” he said, according to Arrowhead Pride. “The offensive line did a great job blocking. Great snap, great hold — and thankfully, that ball went through. All glory to God.”

Butker is a noted devotee of the Traditional Latin Mass. Last year, in an interview with National Catholic Register, Butker defended the Latin Mass from the restrictions imposed by Pope Francis’ motu proprio Traditionis custodes.

“I feel like I’m almost not welcome in the Church for wanting to go to the Latin Mass and for wanting to have a traditional confirmation for my children,” he said. “I feel like I’m a lesser-than Catholic and not part of the Church because I want to attend the traditional rite. But that’s not the reality at all. I want to be obedient to the Church. I want to stay within the Church. It seems like I’m getting persecuted just because I have a love for the traditional rite.”

University Hosts Disturbing ‘Anal Sex 101’ Discussion: ‘Safe and Pleasurable’

University of Louisville’s (UofL) held a discussion Monday about how to have “safe and pleasurable anal sex” as part of its week-long sex education program.

“Bang: Sex Ed Week at UofL” is being held this week and features a daily event to “promote sexual health education, destigmatize conversations around sexuality, and deconstruct shame,” according to its website. The week kicked off on Monday with a lesson in “Anal Sex 101” at the Cultural & Equity Center, during which students could learn about how to have “safe and pleasurable anal sex.”

“There is a lot of stigma around anal sex, from who engages in it to the risks involved,” reads an Instagram post promoting the event. “We’re here to demystify this sexual activity and discuss the ways in which stigma, cultural norms, and misinformation might impact butt play!”

The event flyer poses questions about “poppers,” whether people who engage in anal sex “have to douche” and how people can “figure out if [they’re] a top of bottom.” (Read more from “University Hosts Disturbing ‘Anal Sex 101’ Discussion: ‘Safe and Pleasurable’” HERE)

U.K.’s Largest Pediatric Gender Clinic Ignored Autism Connection in Teens Seeking Sex Changes, New Book Claims

The U.K.’s largest pediatric gender clinic has been accused in a new book of medicalizing teens with comorbidities, including more than a third of patients who showed signs of “moderate to severe” autism.

The book, “Time to Think: The Inside Story of the Collapse of the Tavistock’s Gender Service for Children” by BBC Newsnight journalist Hannah Barnes, alleges that the the Tavistock Clinic, an NHS facility in the U.K. officially called the Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS), ignored evidence that 97.5% of children seeking chemical and surgical sex reassignment services had autism, depression, or other problems that may have explained their unhappiness.

“Some staff feared they could be unnecessarily medicating autistic children,” Barnes wrote.

After conducting over 100 hours of interviews with clinicians and patients during research for the book, Barnes found that staff at the facility sought to push a pro-transgender policy and, as one whistleblower put it, treated children who might not have been transgender as “collateral damage.”

According to the book, former staff said many children, including those with neurodevelopmental disorders like autism and ADHD, were unnecessarily prescribed drugs and even surgery. The book reports that less than 2% of children in the U.K. have an autism spectrum disorder, but approximately 35% of GIDS referrals “present with moderate to severe autistic traits.” (Read more from “U.K.’s Largest Pediatric Gender Clinic Ignored Autism Connection in Teens Seeking Sex Changes, New Book Claims” HERE)

Democrat Posts Obscene Message on ‘Thoughts and Prayers,’ Calls for Gun Control

A top Democratic lawmaker in Michigan derided offering “thoughts and prayers” while pushing stricter gun regulations after a shooting at Michigan State University on Monday.

State Rep. Ranjeev Puri, the majority whip in Michigan’s Democrat-controlled House, issued a statement just after midnight on Tuesday after, according to police, a 43-year-old gunman killed three students and wounded five more. The suspected gunman died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

“Today, we begin to collectively heal from the horrific events which transpired, tomorrow we work,” Puri said in his early morning post on social media. “My official statement regarding the Michigan State University shooting is below: F*** your thoughts and prayers.”

In a longer statement attached to the post, Puri called thoughts and prayers “meaningless” without “action and change” before calling for stricter restrictions on firearms.

“What happened in East Lansing is unfortunately far too common,” Puri said. “Going to school in America, whether it’s pre-school or college, means risking your life every day to the threat of a mass shooting. Yet all we have offered up are empty solutions – traumatizing active shooter drills and bulletproof backpacks.” (Read more from “Democrat Posts Obscene Message on ‘Thoughts and Prayers,’ Calls for Gun Control” HERE)

State Reports Disturbing Increase in Babies Born With Syphilis

Mississippi reported a 900 percent increase in babies born with congenital syphilis in the last five years, according to an analysis published Saturday.

Hospitals in Mississippi treated at least 102 cases of congenital syphilis in 2021, compared to just 10 cases in 2016, according to data shared by NBC News. Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease that passes from mother to child during pregnancy, and is a life-threatening disorder that can sometimes go months without showing symptoms.

Children born with syphilis who go more than three months without treatment can suffer significant complications, NBC noted. The disease can have wide-ranging impacts, including the deformation of bone structure, jaundice, liver and spleen enlargement and significant brain and nerve problems such as blindness and deafness, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. . .

The growth in congenital syphilis is not unique to Mississippi. National data from the CDC suggest that the frequency of its diagnosis has doubled from 941 in 2017 to 2,677 in 2021. A majority of children born with syphilis in Mississippi were born to black mothers, NBC noted. (Read more from “State Reports Disturbing Increase in Babies Born With Syphilis” HERE)

M&M’s ‘Spokescandies’ Return After Short Hiatus With LGBT, Gendered and Racial Equity Partnerships

M&M’s has brought back its “spokescandies,” just three weeks after pausing its marketing campaign that saw backlash for introducing a female-focused candy product line.

A Super Bowl advertisement announced the return of the mascots, and the Mars-owned company quickly launched a new web page to celebrate its new partnerships.

“We believe in the power of fun to bring people together. Over the past year, the conversation around our iconic spokescandies reached new heights but at times got a bit ‘lively’,” the candy website reads.

“Now, we can get on with what we are here to do: create a world where everyone feels they belong,” the text reads, before launching into its partnerships.

Included in the campaigns the company has “contributed millions to” are organizations such as True Colors United. This organization aims to specifically assist “LGBTQ young people” who are homeless. The Navy Quietly Reshuffled the Super Bowl Flyover Team to All-Female Aviators

The U.S. Navy pushed out the original team of aviators for the annual Super Bowl flyover, instead replacing them with an all-female group of flyers.

The final roster will feature 11 female pilots and flight officers. Seven of the pilots will perform the opening ceremony. According to the Daily Caller, The purported reason for the sudden change was to more adequately celebrate the 50th anniversary of women being allowed to fly in the Navy’s aviation program.

“The flyover also commemorates 50 years of women flying in the U.S. Navy. In 1973 the first eight women began flight school in Pensacola, Fla., and one year later six of those eight women, titled “The First Six,” earned their Wings of Gold,” a press release regarding the change stated. “Since then, women have served, operated and led at every level of Naval Aviation.”

The original group of 15 officers had three women on the team, and received several angry responses on social media for the lack of diversity in a lineup put together to honor female navy pilots. (Read more from “The Navy Quietly Reshuffled the Super Bowl Flyover Team to All-Female Aviators” HERE)
