New Poll Asks Americans if They Would Vote for Trump or DeSantis

A new poll released this week asked New Hampshire Republicans if they would vote for Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis or Trump if they ran against each other in the Republican primary in 2024.

A new University of New Hampshire Granite State poll published Wednesday found Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis received 39 percent of support from likely Republican primary voters in New Hampshire. Thirty-seven percent of likely Republican primary voters said they would vote for Trump. Nine percent of voters said they would vote for former Vice President Mike Pence. Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley garned 6 percent.

The Hill noted that the difference between DeSantis and Trump is “insignificant” and within the margin of error. (Read more from “New Poll Asks Americans if They Would Vote for Trump or Desantis” HERE)

Feds Raid Home of Trump DOJ Official: ‘Put Him in Streets in Pajamas’

The Feds have stepped up their January 6 law enforcement activity as the Democrats’ partisan hearings continue, serving a search warrant on Nevada Republican chairman Michael McDonald and state party secretary James DeGraffenreid, as well as raiding Trump-era Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark’s home this week.

According to reports, agents obtained McDonald’s cell phone “reportedly as part of an investigation into the fake elector scheme initiated at the end of the 2020 presidential election,” according to 8 News Now. In 2020, six Nevada electors cast symbolic votes for Trump in the wake of the controversy over Biden’s victory, as the Democrat, according to official figures, won the state by less than three percent:

The Feds have stepped up their January 6 law enforcement activity as the Democrats’ partisan hearings continue, serving a search warrant on Nevada Republican chairman Michael McDonald and state party secretary James DeGraffenreid, as well as raiding Trump-era Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark’s home this week.

“A second search warrant was issued for state party secretary James DeGraffenreid, who also signed the document, but FBI agents could not locate him Wednesday, sources told Knapp,” according to the outlet.

The list does not end there, either. On Wednesday, agents also searched the home of Trump-era Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark, who reportedly pushed letters to states to consider overturning their election results, urging them to investigate claims of voter fraud.

Joe Biden’s America: 92 Percent of Americans Say Gas Prices a ‘Serious’ Problem; Biden’s New Gas Tax Plan Will Backfire on Him – Here’s Why

By Breitbart. The vast majority of voters say the rising cost of gas is a “serious” problem in President Biden’s America, mere months ahead of the midterm elections, a Rasmussen Reports survey released Tuesday found.

Rising gas prices have emerged as a top voter issue heading into the midterms, which does not bode well for President Biden and Democrats, both of whom have continued to deflect, constantly blaming others for the current state of affairs in the country.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) in April, for example, tied rising gas prices to “Russia’s unprovoked, vicious, nasty, bitter, invasion of Ukraine.” (Read more from “Joe Biden’s America: 92 Percent of Americans Say Gas Prices a ‘Serious’ Problem” HERE)

After Demonizing ‘Greedy’ Gas Companies, Biden’s New Plan Will Increase Their Profits

By Townhall. As President Biden makes his call for a federal tax holiday for unleaded and diesel gas taxes, there is — as usual — an irony that undercuts his supposedly brilliant idea to help Americans who’ve seen gas prices more than double in the less than two years since he took office.

The president’s plan, which relies on Congress for implementation, is to suspend federal fuel taxes for three months, a timeframe that conveniently runs up until just before the midterm elections as Biden’s party receives continually sinking approval for its handling of the economy. Biden also called for states to similarly waive their taxes on regular and diesel fuel, which a few have done already.

While state gas taxes vary, the federal taxes Biden is hoping Democrats in Congress will suspend amount to 18.4 cents per gallon for gasoline and 24.4 cents per gallon for diesel — saving Americans around 3.5 percent at the pump. According to Forbes, the average American would save less than $10 each month if the federal tax were suspended.

Not ‘Putin’s Price Hike’: Fed Chair Breaks With Biden on Inflation

Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell on Wednesday broke with President Biden’s repeated attempts to blame Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine for the highest inflation in 40 years.

Powell, confirmed last month to a second term as chairman, explained to the Senate Banking Committee that “inflation was high before” the Feb. 24 Russian invasion of Ukraine, which increased global food and energy prices.

Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.) elicited the remark from Powell at a committee hearing after laying out the fact that inflation grew higher over the course of 2021.

“I realize there are a number of factors that play a role in those historic inflation that we’re experiencing — supply chain disruptions, regulations that constrain supply, we’ve got rising inflation expectations and excessive fiscal spending, but the problem hasn’t sprung out of nowhere,” Hagerty said.

“In January of 2021, inflation was at 1.4%. By December of 2021, it had risen to 7% — a fivefold increase. Now, since the war in Ukraine began in late February, the rate of inflation has risen incrementally another 1.6% to a current level of 8.6%. So again, from 7% to 8.6%.” (Read more from “Not ‘Putin’s Price Hike’: Fed Chair Breaks With Biden on Inflation” HERE)

Gun Rights Groups Explain the Problems With the Senate Gun Control Bill

Gun rights organizations slammed the new bipartisan gun control bill that 14 Republican senators backed, warning that the bill creates new problems. . .

“The package extends current prohibitions on gun sales to those who have disqualifying juvenile records and those convicted of misdemeanor violent crimes against ‘dating partners,’” The Reload reported. “The bill also includes a new background check process for those 18 to 20 years old, funding for ‘Red Flag’ laws or other state crisis intervention programs, the reclassification of who must obtain federal gun dealing licenses, and several other proposals.”

Some of the more troubling aspects of the bill were highlighted in an analysis conducted by the Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC)[.] . .

“The proposal seeks to chill the right to keep and bear arms by incentivizing local disarmament proceedings, of which many states currently employ secret ex-parte hearings, massive penalties and enhancements reminiscent of the mass incarceration of the so-called war on drugs, naked discrimination against young adults, and an aggressive assault on peaceable conduct,” FPC said in a separate statement. “Should this package be adopted, it will result in the imprisonment, injury, and death of peaceable people.” (Read more from “Gun Rights Groups Explain the Problems With the Senate Gun Control Bill” HERE)

ExxonMobil CEO Predicts Oil Market Turbulence Will Go On for Years

ExxonMobil CEO Darren Woods predicted Tuesday the global oil market will continue to be “tight” for years to come, indicating cost relief at the gas pump is not on the horizon.

Speaking at the Bloomberg Qatar Economic Forum in Doha, Woods predicted that turbulence within the global oil market will not subside for three to five years.

“You are probably looking at three to five years of continued fairly tight markets,” Woods said. “How that manifests itself in price will obviously be a big function of demand, which is difficult to predict.”

Woods added that protection from market volatility will require governments and oil companies to enact “more thoughtful policies.” (Read more from “ExxonMobil CEO Predicts Oil Market Turbulence Will Go On for Years” HERE)

Jan. 6 Witness Who Blasted Trump Admits He’d Vote for the Former President Again

Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers plans to vote for former President Donald Trump if he is the nominee in 2024 despite his disparagement of the president’s actions.

During a public hearing Tuesday before the House Jan. 6 committee, Bowers recalled how Trump pressured him to “break his oath” and engage in a “circus” gambit to thwart the election over bogus election fraud claims. Despite the former president’s antics, the state speaker contended that Trump is better than the alternative.

“If he is the nominee, if he was up against Biden, I’d vote for him again simply because what he did the first time, before COVID, was so good for the county,” Bowers told the Associated Press after the hearing. “In my view, it was great.”

Bowers reiterated his rebuke of Trump supporters peddling debunked claims about a “rigged” election depriving Trump of victory in 2020, underscoring how the claims had undermined public faith in elections. J6 Committee Focuses on Election Fraud Claims While Ignoring Tactics Used to Rig the 2020 Election

That there was no widespread fraud in November 2020 doesn’t mean that the election was not rigged to keep Donald Trump out of the White House.

The Jan. 6 show trial continues this week in the House, with several partisan aims remaining in focus, chief among them conditioning the public to believe the Nov. 3, 2020 election was the most secure in American history. By limiting their focus to select and disproven claims of election fraud, the Democrat-stacked House committee provides a bait-and-switch prime-time presentation designed to convince the country that Trump lied to his supporters when he declared the election was stolen.

But stealing an election by fraud is not the only way to rig an outcome. Elections are rigged when systemic violations of election law occur, disparately favoring one candidate and allowing for tens of thousands of illegal votes to be counted.

And the election was rigged with every illegal drop box placed in Democrat-heavy precincts. (Read more from “J6 Committee Focuses on Election Fraud Claims While Ignoring Tactics Used to Rig the 2020 Election” HERE)

VP Harris Botches Juneteenth History Lesson About ‘400 Years of Slavery’

Vice President Kamala Harris bungled a history lesson about the Juneteenth holiday Monday, telling kids that black people were enslaved in America for 400 years — overstating the actual time period by more than 150 years.

“I think that we all know today is a day to celebrate the principle of freedom,” Harris told a group of about two dozen elementary school-age children at the National Museum of African American History & Culture in Washington. “And think about it in terms of the context of history, knowing that black people in America were not free for 400 years of slavery.”

“Let this be a day that is a day to celebrate the principle of freedom, but to speak about it honestly and accurately, both in the context of history and current application,” Harris went on during her apparently extemporaneous remarks.

The first African slaves in the American colonies arrived in 1619 in Virginia. Slavery was abolished through the 13th Amendment, which was ratified in 1865 — ending 246 years of the practice, not 400.

A White House official acknowledged Harris’ error, telling The Post that “the vice president was referring to 400 years since slavery began.” (Read more from “VP Harris Botches Juneteenth History Lesson About ‘400 Years of Slavery’” HERE)

Senate Gun Control Bill Released – Here’s What May Change

By Townhall. A bipartisan working group of U.S. Senators — 10 Democrats and 10 Republicans — finally unveiled the result of their work on federal firearm legislation spurred by the tragic shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, one that increasingly looks to have been worsened by a failure in local authorities’ response.

The text’s release was delayed this week by some last-minute negotiations over a ban on any healthcare-related funds in the bill being used to pay for abortions, but that hurdle was cleared by Tuesday afternoon when the final text was released. . .

As Townhall reported previously, a framework agreement for the bill was reached on June 12 that included “crisis intervention orders” and an “enhanced review period” for purchasers under 21 years old. The framework, even though it contained increased funding for mental health care, safety measures in schools, and training for staff, set off alarm bells for some Second Amendment advocates worried about what would end up in the final text of the bill.

Senators Strike Deal on Gun Control Bill—Here’s What May Change (And What Won’t)

By Forbes. The two lead negotiators on a bipartisan gun control bill announced Tuesday they reached a deal on the language of legislation, which, if passed, would be the most significant federal gun control measures enacted in decades.

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), the top Democratic negotiator, said on the Senate floor the bill would fund a federal program to encourage states to invest in red-flag laws, which allow courts to suspend gun access for individuals considered a danger to themselves or others.

The bill would also mandate “enhanced background checks” for gun purchasers under 21, including “a call to the local police department” to rule out buyers law enforcement suspects could pose a threat, according to Murphy.

Murphy and Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) said the bill closes what’s known as the “boyfriend” loophole by prohibiting those convicted of misdemeanor non-spousal domestic abuse from purchasing a firearm for at least five years. . .

A “historic investment in mental health,” funding for school-based health centers and new statutes to prevent gun trafficking are also in the bill, Murphy said. (Read more from “Senators Strike Deal on Gun Control Bill—Here’s What May Change (And What Won’t)” HERE)
