Christian Student Silenced by School Gets Massive Payday

A college student will receive a massive settlement from his school after it tried to silence him from speaking about his faith, according to a Wednesday press release from Alliance Defending Freedom.

Georgia Gwinnett College settled with Chike Uzuegbunam for $80,000 six years after the lawsuit was first filed, which alleged that the school repeatedly denied him the right to speak about his Christian faith to other students, the press release said.

The college told Uzuegbunam he had to use the free speech zones on campus with permission from the college in order to speak about his faith, the lawsuit stated. After acquiring one of the zones, Uzuegbunam was asked by the college to stop because he had prompted complaints and the college wished to appease students “who were or might be offended by his expression.”

“Chike Uzuegbunam’s case and this settlement illustrate the priceless nature of our constitutional rights,” Travis Barham, senior counsel at Alliance Defending Freedom told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “With this settlement, not only has the College’s dodging finally ended, and not only has Chike received the justice he has long deserved, but other colleges and universities are on notice that if they violate their students’ liberties, they can expect consequences.” (Read more from “Christian Student Silenced by School Gets Massive Payday” HERE)

Cheney Pulls a Murkowski: Asks Democrats to Vote for Her to Save Her Seat

As Rep. Liz Cheney faces a tough reelection battle in Wyoming, she’s turning to Democrats in her home state to help her chances in the August 16 Republican primary.

Cheney’s campaign has mailed instructions to Wyoming Democrats on how to change their party affiliation to vote for the incumbent congresswoman, The New York Times reported on Thursday. Under Wyoming law, voters must be registered as a Democrat or a Republican in order to vote in that party’s primary election.

The instructions, also listed on Cheney’s campaign website, direct voters to fill out a registration form and submit it to their county clerk’s office at least two weeks before the primary. Voters may also change their party affiliation at the polls on primary day or when they request an absentee ballot.

“Liz is proud to represent all Wyomingites and is working hard to earn every vote,” Jeremy Adler, a campaign spokesperson, told Insider in a statement on Thursday.

This call comes as some Democrats in the red state have expressed support for Cheney’s defiance of former President Donald Trump and plan to vote for her reelection. Though Republicans are a majority in the state, it’s not unusual for candidates to reach out to Democrats during campaign season to boost their election bids. Studies on voter data in the state have shown that party-switch voters have not made a difference in past elections. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin Vows Access to Abortions for Troops

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Friday vowed to provide service members with “seamless access” to reproductive health care in the wake of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade.

He said in a statement:

Nothing is more important to me or to this Department than the health and well-being of our Service members, the civilian workforce and DOD families. I am committed to taking care of our people and ensuring the readiness and resilience of our Force. The Department is examining this decision closely and evaluating our policies to ensure we continue to provide seamless access to reproductive health care as permitted by federal law.

Without Trump, Today’s Supreme Court Ruling Would Not Have Been Possible

In 2016, one of Donald Trump’s campaign promises was to appoint Supreme Court justices to overturn Roe v. Wade. Today, his promise became a reality. It’s the latest example of a Trump promise made and a Trump promise kept. Everyone who is against infanticide should be thankful for Donald Trump, regardless of one’s personal feelings about him. . .

Despite all his flaws, Trump was arguably, and surprisingly, the best president for the pro-life movement. He touted his pro-life stance during a presidential debate with Hillary Clinton, in which he promised to appoint pro-life justices. It was an important statement, especially given some of the Supreme Court appointees Republicans have had over the years. But Trump’s promise felt different. Consider his statements from 2016.

“Well, if we put another two or perhaps three justices on, that … will happen automatically, in my opinion, because I am putting pro-life justices on the court,” Trump proclaimed back then.

The promise to nominate Supreme Court justices who would overturn Roe had been met with suspicion by pro-life voters. More often than not, these voters were seduced with the pledges of these nominees, only to live with the reality of their failure to overturn it. But, unlike many previous Republican presidents, Trump delivered.

Furthermore, he demonstrated his commitment to the pro-life movement during his presidency. After all, he was the first sitting president to attend and speak at the annual March for Life Rally, a list that includes those deemed morally superior, such as George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan. Abortion Clinics Shutter in Pro-Life States Following Supreme Court Decision

Abortion clinics in multiple states where pro-life laws are now, or will soon be, in effect ceased operations Friday after the Supreme Court overturned its Roe v. Wade decision.

In a 6-3 decision for Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the court upheld a Mississippi law that bans abortion procedures after 15 weeks or pregnancy, ruling that the Constitution does not protect a woman’s right to kill her unborn child. The ruling lets states individually decide how they will regulate abortion, if at all, opening the door for at least 26 states with pro-life governments to enact new limits on abortion.

In some states that already have pro-life laws on the books, including so-called trigger laws that will now go into effect after the court’s decision, abortion clinics have already halted scheduled abortion procedures and closed their doors.

Texas, for example, has a law that will ban most abortions from the moment of conception forward, excepting medical emergencies where the life of the mother is at risk. State Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) announced Friday that the law will go into effect in 30 days after the court issues its judgement in Dobbs — a judgement is a legal document to be issued by the court that is separate from its opinion, which was released Friday. FBI Raids Multiple Churches — Including Texas Church Said to Be ‘Recruiting’ Fort Hood Soldiers: Report

On Thursday, KWTX reported that the FBI has raided three churches across the South — including a church in Killeen, Texas said to be targeting servicemembers from the nation’s largest Army base.

“‘I can confirm the FBI was executing court authorized law enforcement activity today in the vicinity of the intersection of Massey St. and E. Rancier Ave., in Killeen, Texas. No additional information will be released at this time,’ FBI Special Agent Carmen Portillo said in an emailed statement to KWTX,” said the report. “Assembly of Prayer Christian Church is located at 1013 Massey Street in North Killeen. Videos shared on social media on Thursday show law enforcement officers at the church. According to the Killeen Daily Herald, dozens of Google and Facebook reviews of the church refer to it as a ‘cult’ with a ‘habit of recruiting Fort Hood soldiers.'”

Also raided were the House of Prayer Church in Hinesville, Georgia, near Fort Stewart and the Assembly of Prayer church in Augusta, Georgia, near Fort Gordon. (Read more from “FBI Raids Multiple Churches — Including Texas Church Said to Be ‘Recruiting’ Fort Hood Soldiers: Report” HERE)

Second Amendment Win: Supreme Court Says Constitution Protects Right to Carry a Gun Outside the Home; Biden DOJ Releases Bizarre Statement in Response to SCOTUS Opinion

By CNN. The Supreme Court on Thursday struck down a New York gun law enacted more than a century ago that places restrictions on carrying a concealed handgun outside the home — an opinion marking the widest expansion of gun rights in a decade.

“Because the State of New York issues public-carry licenses only when an applicant demonstrates a special need for self-defense, we conclude that the State’s licensing regime violates the Constitution,” Justice Clarence Thomas wrote for the court’s 6-3 majority.

The opinion changes the framework that lower courts will use going forward as they analyze other gun restrictions, which could include the proposals currently before Congress if they eventually become law. Biden DOJ Releases Bizarre Statement in Response to SCOTUS Opinion

By Townhall. The Department of Justice is weighing in after the Supreme Court struck down restrictive “may issue” concealed carry laws Thursday morning, bizarrely stating they do not agree with the decision.

“We respectfully disagree with the Court’s conclusion that the Second Amendment forbids New York’s reasonable requirement that individuals seeking to carry a concealed handgun must show that they need to do so for self-defense. The Department of Justice remains committed to saving innocent lives by enforcing and defending federal firearms laws, partnering with state, local and tribal authorities and using all legally available tools to tackle the epidemic of gun violence plaguing our communities,” DOJ Spokesperson Dena Iverson released in a statement.

Over a Third of GOP Voters to Back Candidate Who Embraces Trump’s Stolen-Election Claims, Says Poll

More than a third of Republicans say they are more likely to vote for a candidate who says the 2020 election was stolen from former President Donald Trump, a new poll shows.

A Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday found that 35% of Republicans say they are more likely to support a candidate who embraces the stolen election claims, compared to 17% who said they would be less likely.

The remaining 44% of Republicans in the nationwide survey of adults said it makes “no difference.”

Conversely, 81% of Democrats said they would be less likely to vote for a candidate who embraces the stolen election claim, while 2% said they would be more likely to back one. Forty-four percent of independents said they would be less likely to support a stolen-election candidate, while 11% said they would be more likely to back one.

Mr. Trump’s stolen election claims and efforts to challenge the results of the 2020 election have taken center stage on Capitol Hill, where the Democratic-led Jan. 6 committee is holding hearings examining the events that led to last year’s riot at the U.S. Capitol. Reporter Says Democrats in Congress Told Her ‘Nobody Gives a Bleep About Jan. 6’

. . .Politico national correspondent Betsy Woodruff Swan shared what she heard as Capitol Hill gears up for the 2022 midterm elections during a segment Wednesday on the streaming service NBC News NOW. The exchange took place as the Jan. 6 committee is in the midst of holding a slate of summer hearings in which members are working to tie former President Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election results to the Capitol riot.

“Does the Jan. 6 hearing break through at all?” anchor Chuck Todd asked after he noted polling that shows most Republicans think Trump truly believed there was widespread fraud in the 2020 election.

“I don’t think it does. I’ve talked to two separate Democratic members of Congress in the last couple weeks about Jan. 6 — obviously, I can’t say who — and both of them have said, offhandedly, nobody gives a bleep about Jan. 6 when they are talking about their districts and the way that elections play out,” she said. Joe Biden Claims His Personal COVID Czar Is ‘Running the CDC’

President Joe Biden said Tuesday that his personal COVID-19 czar, Dr. Ashish Jha, is “basically running the CDC” at an event celebrating the authorization of COVID-19 vaccines for young children.

Biden made the remark Tuesday at a vaccination clinic sponsored by the District of Columbia Department of Health, which he visited with his wife Jill Biden. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended COVID-19 vaccines for kids under five years old last week. Biden pointed at Jha amidst a crowd to laud him for his efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Is the doctor here? I’m sorry, you see Dr. Jha, see that guy up there? He’s the guy that’s running the CDC for me these days,” Biden said. “And he’s up there, he’s standing on stage ready to perform.”

Dr. Jha does not, at least formally, run the CDC. (Read more from “Joe Biden Claims His Personal COVID Czar Is ‘Running the CDC'” HERE)
