More Marines Deploy to Eastern Europe

Three Marine Corps aviation units have joined more than 10,000 U.S. troops mobilized to Eastern Europe and Germany in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the Defense Department announced Tuesday.

The Marines already had been on the continent as part of NATO’s Cold Response exercise in Norway, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby told Military Times. Now, 200 members of Marine Air Control Unit 28, based at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, are in Lithuania.

At the same time, 10 F/A-18 Hornets and some C-130 Hercules transport planes from Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South Carolina, will head to an as-yet-undetermined location, Kirby added, with another 200 personnel.

That brings the number of U.S. troops deployed in response to the war in Ukraine to more than 12,000. To date, the vast majority of troops have been Army and Air Force personnel, though the Navy threw its hat in the ring by sending six EA-18G Growlers to Germany, Kirby announced Monday.

Since the beginning of February, U.S. troops have been building up a presence along NATO’s eastern front and in Germany. The Pentagon started with a commitment of U.S. 7,000 troops mobilizing to individual countries, then later committed another 7,000 as part of the NATO Response Force, though not every one of that group has been mobilized. FDA Authorizes Second COVID-19 Booster Shots for Adults 50 and Up

The Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday signed off on a second booster shot for older Americans and people who are immunocompromised.

The second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna booster shots was authorized by the federal agency for people ages 50 and up and those with severely weakened immune systems at least four months following their first booster.

The FDA had previously only cleared the fourth doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines for people ages 12 and older who were immunocompromised. That group can now get a fifth shot — three doses and two boosters — with Tuesday’s FDA authorization.

“Current evidence suggests some waning of protection over time against serious outcomes from COVID-19 in older and immunocompromised individuals,” the FDA’s vaccine chief, Dr. Peter Marks, said in a statement.

Data shows an initial booster dose is critical to protect all adults from “potentially severe outcomes” of COVID-19, Marks said. (Read more from “FDA Authorizes Second COVID-19 Booster Shots for Adults 50 and Up” HERE)

Ron Desantis Leads 21-State Lawsuit Against Feds to End Mask Mandates for Travel

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Tuesday announced a lawsuit by 21 states seeking to end federal masking mandates for air travel and public transportation.

“It is well past time to get rid of this unnecessary mandate and get back to normal life,” DeSantis said at a press conference announcing the legal action against the Biden administration.

“It’s amazing that this has gone on as long as it has,” the governor said.

The Transportation Security Administration said earlier this month that the mandate would be extended to April 18. . .

DeSantis blasted that decision, asserting that the masking requirements were applied arbitrarily and no longer rooted in science. (Read more from “Ron Desantis Leads 21-State Lawsuit Against Feds to End Mask Mandates for Travel” HERE)

Funny Business? Biden Got a Mass Amount of Excess Votes in Key Swing States

. . .[A] new study from John R. Lott reportedly shows how Biden received 255,000 excess ballots in key swing states. He doesn’t want this study used to challenge the 2020 results, though that’s exactly what’s going to happen. He merely wanted to show how easy it is to count invalid ballots. It’s a peer-reviewed study (via Washington Times):

Looking at six swing states, the data he crunched found that voter turnout in Republican areas increased from 2016 to 2020 while voter turnout among Democrats dropped — except in places where voter fraud was claimed.

That accounted for 255,000 “excess” votes for Mr. Biden above what would be expected, Mr. Lott said. His paper has been accepted for publication in Public Choice, a peer-reviewed journal specializing in the intersection of economics and political science.

“More heavily Democratic counties actually had a slightly lower turnout in 2020, except for counties where vote fraud was alleged. In those counties, you had a huge increase in turnout,” Mr. Lott told The Washington Times in an interview explaining his findings.

“In some of those swing states, you had counties where vote fraud was alleged. In some of those swing states, you had counties where vote fraud wasn’t alleged. And yet you only had huge increases in turnout where vote fraud was alleged,” he said.

Biden Defiant Over Europe Trip Gaffes on Russia/Ukraine: ‘None of the Three Occurred’; Why Biden’s Off-Script Remarks About Putin Are So Dangerous

By Breitbart. President Joe Biden appeared frustrated on Monday when he was asked to clarify his comment about chemical weapons and other comments during his trip to Europe. . .

When Biden was asked by Fox News reporter Peter Doocy to clarify his assertion that Russian President Vladimir Putin would trigger a “response in kind” if he used chemical weapons, the president grew indignant.

“I’m not gonna tell you. Why would I tell you?” he replied. “You gotta be silly.” . . .

Biden was asked about his other two comments that required clarification from the White House, including a comment to American troops about what they would see when they got to Ukraine and his comment about regime change in Russia.

“None of the three occurred, you interpreted the language that way,” he complained. (Read more from “Biden Defiant Over Europe Trip Gaffes on Russia/Ukraine: ‘None of the Three Occurred’” HERE)

Why Biden’s Off-Script Remarks About Putin Are So Dangerous

By BBC News. Over the past week, US President Joe Biden has made a series of unscripted remarks that have upped the temperature of US-Russia relations to near boiling point. . .

Earlier in the day, the US president had called Mr Putin a “butcher”. Last week, he seemed to get ahead of his own administration’s diplomatic process by accusing the Russian leader of war crimes. In both cases, Mr Biden’s remarks prompted condemnations and warnings from Moscow that US-Russia diplomatic relations were being frayed to the point of breaking.

There’s a line between condemning a nation’s leader – the sometimes overheated rhetoric of diplomacy – and calling for his removal. It was a line both the Americans and the Soviets respected even at the height of the Cold War. And it is a line that Mr Biden had apparently crossed. . .

In Washington, congressional leaders were also expressing concern. Idaho Republican Jim Risch, the senior Republican on the Senate foreign relations committee, called Mr Biden’s remarks a “horrendous gaffe”.

“My gosh, I wish they would keep him on script,” he said. “Any time you say or even, as he did, suggest that the policy was regime change, it’s going to cause a huge problem. This administration has done everything they can to stop escalating. There’s not a whole lot more you can do to escalate than to call for regime change.” (Read more from “Why Biden’s Off-Script Remarks About Putin Are So Dangerous” HERE)

Justice Orders Trump Organization to Comply With New York AG Subpoena

A New York judge ordered the Trump Organization to comply with a subpoena from state Attorney General Letitia James by the end of April.

Lawyers for the Trump Organization agreed to a schedule to comply with the subpoena issued against the company more than two years ago seeking material from employees’ devices and to produce reports about which devices had been searched.

“I hope we are winding down this whole investigation,” state Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron said during a hearing Monday, per the Wall Street Journal. “One thing all of us can agree on is we want this to end at some point.”

The company plans to produce most of the relevant documents by April 15 but has until April 29 to turn over everything requested. Trump Organization lawyers contend that the only device left to be searched in the investigation was a phone that belonged to Alan Garten, a lawyer for the company, according to CNN.

Engoron ordered both the Trump organization and forensics company HaystackID, which was hired to monitor the Trump Organization’s compliance with the subpoena, to produce weekly reports on the company’s progress. It Shouldn’t Be Hard to Condemn Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Leniency for Child Predators

Joe Biden has nominated Ketanji Brown Jackson to be the newest Supreme Court justice, a seat held for life. Immediately, Sen. Josh Hawley brought forward concerns about Jackson’s history of leniency toward child predators.

National Review’s Andrew McCarthy weighed in to say that Republicans like Hawley are making a big mistake, and a big deal out of nothing. McCarthy correctly points out that if Republicans are so concerned about this issue, they should make sentences on child predators tougher.

But McCarthy wasn’t arguing for tougher sentences, just making a rhetorical point. He went on to compare child sexual abuse imagery to drugs, and claimed the only justification for making these materials illegal is “market theory”—that the consumption of these illicit materials drives the abuse of children in the materials, even though the persons viewing the materials supposedly aren’t abusers themselves. . .

In jumps fellow National Reviewer Ramesh Ponnuru with an article that says our child porn laws “might” be too weak. Ponnuru correctly points out how wrong the Supreme Court was in 2002 to allow “virtual” child sexual abuse imagery where real children aren’t being abused, and then quickly argues that McCarthy’s view is wrong because these materials certainly harm “our moral ecology.” (Read more from “It Shouldn’t Be Hard to Condemn Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Leniency for Child Predators” HERE)

Hunter Biden’s Laptops Are Now an Active National Security Threat

On Friday, The Daily Mail reported that emails recovered from Hunter Biden’s laptop show he helped an infectious disease research company pursue projects in Ukraine. Those emails confirm portions of charges Russia made the previous day that an investment group run by the now-president’s son had funded a company conducting research at biological laboratories in Ukraine.

While these developments add another scandal to the long list of Biden family dirty laundry, the more urgent concern for the country should be the continuing threat to our national security posed by a compromised President Biden and the possibility that Russia has access to the catalog of compromising material contained on Hunter’s laptop. . .

What distinguishes the emails contained in last week’s Daily Mail article from those published last year is that the most recent release came the day after Russia’s State Duma speaker, Vyacheslav Volodin accused President Biden with being “involved in the creation of bio laboratories in Ukraine,” with Volodin claiming that “an investment fund run by his son Hunter Biden funded research and the implementation of the United States’ military biological program.”

Soon after Volodin made the charge on Thursday, the Telegraph called Russia’s accusation of Hunter Biden funding Ukrainian biological laboratories an “unsubstantiated claim” “designed to build on negative coverage about [the] president’s son in Right-wing US media.” But with Friday’s release of previously undisclosed emails from Hunter Biden’s laptop, Russia’s claim, at least concerning Hunter Biden’s connection to Ukrainian biological laboratories, appears accurate. . .

Russia’s ability to point to the Hunter Biden emails as confirmation of its claims of a biolab in Ukraine raises a serious question with huge national security implications: How did Russia know the day before The Daily Mail’s exclusive that the Hunter Biden’s investment fund, Rosemont Seneca, had invested in Metabiota and been involved in Metabiota’s operations in Ukraine? Biden Used Cheat Sheet While Doubling Down on Unscripted Message to Oust Putin

President Joe Biden once again referred to a printed cheat sheet sheet as he doubled down on his unscripted weekend claim that Vladimir Putin “cannot remain in power.”

On Monday Biden, 79, told reporters he made “no apologies” for his remarks — made off the cuff and not part of his prepared speech in a nationally televised address from Poland Saturday — and did not view it as a provocation to Russia. . .

His comments closely aligned with notes printed on a small piece of paper that he was photographed holding in his left hand as he spoke that began as follows:

If you weren’t advocating for regime change, what did you mean? Can you clarify?

I was expressing the moral outrage I felt towards the actions of this man

Poll: Americans ‘Not Willing’ to Risk American Lives in Ukraine

Most Americans are “not willing” to risk American lives to carry out a peacekeeping mission or enforce a ‘no-fly’ zone in Ukraine, a Convention of States Action/Trafalgar Group survey released Monday found.

The survey asked, “How willing are you to risk the lives of America’s young people to enforce a ‘nofly zone’ or peacekeeping mission in Ukraine?”

Overall, 66.3 percent indicated that they are not very willing to support that. Of those, 32.4 percent said they are “not willing at all,” and 33.9 percent said they are “not very willing.”

Another 26.3 percent said they are “somewhat” willing, but just 7.5 percent said they are “very willing.” (Read more from “Poll: Americans ‘Not Willing’ to Risk American Lives in Ukraine” HERE)
