Biden Replaces Women With ‘Birthing People’ in New Budget

President Biden’s promise to “build back better” apparently also applies to “birthing people,” according to the 2022 budget proposal from his administration’s Office of Management and Budget.

In the section on “strengthening public health infrastructure and meeting crisis-related needs,” President Biden claims his budget “reduces maternal mortality rate and ends race-based disparities in maternal mortality.”

The United States has the highest maternal mortality rate among developed nations, with an unacceptably high mortality rate for Black, American Indian/Alaska Native, and other women of color. To help end this high rate of maternal mortality and race-based disparities in outcomes among birthing people—and in addition to the investment in maternal health included in the American Families Plan—the Budget includes more than $200 million to: reduce maternal mortality and morbidity rates nationwide; bolster Maternal Mortality Review Committees; expand the Rural Maternity and Obstetrics Management Strategies program; help cities place early childhood development experts in pediatrician offices with a high percentage of Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program patients; implement implicit bias training for healthcare providers; and create State pregnancy medical home programs.

Biden Pulls Trigger on Next Gun Control Move

. . .On Monday his Department of Justice announced two moves to further Biden’s demands.

The first was a proposal for laws that would allow someone to complain to a judge, who could remove that targeted person’s guns.

The second is a plan to reclassify a category of weapons so that owners would have to obtain $200 permits to keep them, and have them registered.

“The Justice Department is determined to take concrete steps to reduce the tragic toll of gun violence in our communities,” said Attorney General Merrick B. Garland. “Today we continue to deliver on our promise to help save lives while protecting the rights of law-abiding Americans. We welcome the opportunity to work with communities in the weeks and months ahead in our shared commitment to end gun violence.”

One move was to suggest wording to states for those “extreme risk protection orders” that allow courts to “bar people in crisis from accessing firearms.” (Read more from “Biden Pulls Trigger on Next Gun Control Move” HERE)

Interracial Couple Says Critical Race Theory ‘Hurts’ People of Color

An interracial couple from Chicago has condemned the controversial critical race theory movement — arguing that it “hurts” the black community by victimizing people of color.

“When I hear the ideas of critical race theory, they don’t remind me of my experience here in Chicago at all,” Takyrica Kokoszka, a black woman and Chicago public school teacher, told Fox News. . .

The couple spoke to the outlet about their experience living in the long-integrated neighborhood, where they say the local school administration tells teachers that “all schools are rooted in white supremacy” and that “racism… is truly all around us.” . . .

“We are looking to explain it away using critical race theory. Instead of us actually digging deep and looking into all the nuances that are involved with school achievement, we’ve watered it down. We’ve dumbed down the reason now to ‘It’s because the system is racist.’” . . .

“We believe that it hurts our black and brown community that the message is: ‘You’re a victim. You can never make it until we tear down all these systems and structures,” Martin said. (Read more from “Interracial Couple Says Critical Race Theory ‘Hurts’ People of Color” HERE)

Democrat Defeat: Manchin Kills Election Takeover Bill; Obama Accuses GOP States Pushing Voter Integrity Laws of ‘Rigging’ Elections

By Breitbart. Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) announced Sunday he will vote against the For the People Act to federalize local elections.

“I believe that partisan voting legislation will destroy the already weakening binds of our democracy, and for that reason, I will vote against the For the People Act. Furthermore, I will not vote to weaken or eliminate the filibuster,” he wrote in Charleston Gazette-Mail.

“As such, congressional action on federal voting rights legislation must be the result of both Democrats and Republicans coming together to find a pathway forward or we risk further dividing and destroying the republic we swore to protect and defend as elected officials,” he continued. . .

“With that in mind, some Democrats have again proposed eliminating the Senate filibuster rule in order to pass the For the People Act with only Democratic support,” he said. “They’ve attempted to demonize the filibuster and conveniently ignore how it has been critical to protecting the rights of Democrats in the past.” (Read more from “Democrat Defeat: Manchin Kills Election Takeover Bill” HERE)

Obama Accuses GOP States Pushing Voter Integrity Laws of ‘Rigging’ Elections

By Townhall. Former President Obama criticized voting laws being passed by Republicans across the country, saying that such changes to the voting system is “rigging the game.”

He said during an Economic Club of Chicago event Friday about the new election integrity law in Georgia:

That’s the kind of dangerous behavior that we’re going to have to push back on.

. . .

The former president suggested that in passing laws aimed at protecting the validity of elections, Republican lawmakers were attempting to rig elections.

Are we going to stick to those rules or are we going to start rigging the game in a way that breaks it? And that’s not going to be good for business, not to mention not good for our soul.

NYC Mayoral Candidate Wants to Defund NYPD — While Her Home Is Protected by Private Security Patrol

Democratic mayoral candidate Maya Wiley wants to cut $1 billion from the NYPD’s budget — at the same time her home is being protected by a private security patrol in her Brooklyn neighborhood.

Wiley — who on Sunday clashed with rival Eric Adams over her plan to defund the police if elected — claimed in December that she thought the private security was “ridiculous and we shouldn’t have it.”

But she said her life partner, Harlan Mandel, began paying the annual fees without her knowledge to the Prospect Park South Charitable Trust to fund a guard who drives around the area.

An outraged NYPD source called Wiley’s stance regarding the police budget “asinine” and accused her of “pandering for votes.”

“Here they are wanting to defund the police — but to keep my family safe, we hire private security, which is probably staffed by retired cops or military,” the source said. (Read more from “NYC Mayoral Candidate Wants to Defund NYPD — While Her Home Is Protected by Private Security Patrol” HERE)

Biden Minimum Wage Czar Demands Federal $15 Wage, but Students Under Him as Dean Make $13.50

While President Joe Biden’s nominee for Wage and Hour Administrator at the Department of Labor frequently calls for a $15 an hour minimum wage, the nominee has not called for students at the university he works at to receive the same.

David Weil, who Biden announced as a federal nominee last week, has backed a $15 an hour wage while not instituting such a policy at Brandeis, where he is a dean and professor.

According to the Office of Student Financial Services, the minimum wage at the private school in Massachusetts is $13.50 an hour, the same minimum wage set by the state. Given the dean’s influence and position as a staunch progressive, it is curious why he would work at a school that does not provide the same compensation he seemingly determines is necessary.

“As my co-author @EDerenoncourt eloquently points out, wage spillovers shown in our research arise from market power,” tweeted Weil in March, in relation to a post that a University of California at Berkley professor who called for a $15 minimum wage. “Unions create countervailing power to allow sharing of gains w/ workers. That’s what’s at stake in Bessemer, Alabama.” (Read more from “Biden Minimum Wage Czar Demands Federal $15 Wage, but Students Under Him as Dean Make $13.50” HERE)

WH Compares ‘Rightwing’ Reporters to Russian and Chinese Propagandists

Joe Biden’s White House press secretary, Jen Psaki, has likened reporters from Fox News and other rightwing outlets to “representatives of the Russian and Chinese media asking questions directed by their government … propaganda pushers” to be treated with extreme caution.

Psaki was speaking to CNN’s Reliable Sources in an interview broadcast on Sunday… But clashes with reporters including Peter Doocy of Fox News have made headlines.

Asked by Doocy if Fauci should be “held accountable” for “saying one thing in email and then coming to this microphone and saying something else”, Psaki called Fauci “a renowned public servant” who has “overseen management of multiple global health crises”. . .

Doocy asked about US funding for Chinese research laboratories, a key part of Republican attacks on Fauci as the theory that Covid-19 escaped such a lab gains renewed attention.

Psaki deflected the question. (Read more from “WH Compares ‘Rightwing’ Reporters to Russian and Chinese Propagandists” HERE)

Black Americans Ignore Biden’s Vaccine Push

The Biden administration knew the key to a successful Covid vaccination campaign would be reaching the most vulnerable populations. But more than five months in, even a blueprint that’s worked with other ethnic and racial groups isn’t doing enough to win over Black Americans.

Less than a quarter of Black Americans had received their first Covid-19 shot as of June 7 based on available federal data, amid a weekslong stagnation that has defied the government’s ramped-up effort to accelerate vaccinations and reach the nation’s most vulnerable communities.

One of the task force’s first assignments was recommending ways to build trust in the vaccines and effectively roll them out to those marginalized communities — chief among them Black Americans who are dying from Covid-19 at disproportionate rates. Some early ideas were incorporated into the administration vaccination plan crafted within the White House, task force members said. Yet as the panel has shifted its focus to other, long-term health equity issues in recent months, vaccine disparities have persisted. . .

The White House has intensified the equity push in the past month in particular, as it races to hit President Joe Biden’s July 4 deadline for getting 70 percent of U.S. adults to take at least one dose of a Covid vaccine. (Read more from “Black Americans Ignore Biden’s Vaccine Push” HERE)

Supreme Court Punts on Including Women in the Draft

The Supreme Court on Monday punted on a case that could have required women to be included in the Selective Service System – the military draft – citing Congress’ ongoing consideration of the issue.

The court denied a petition from the National Coalition for Men to hear the case on the system that currently requires all men from 18 to 25 to register for potential military service in a national crisis. The group said that the continued integration of women into the military and the reversal of the ban on women in combat removed the basis of the 1981 case that upheld the selection of only men for the draft.

The Selective Service System, opposing a change that would mandate women register for the draft, emphasized that the court previously “deferred to Congress’s judgment” on the Selective Service System. . .

In the precedent that upheld the men-only draft, Sotomayor wrote, “this Court upheld the Act’s gender-based registration requirement against an equal protection challenge, citing the fact that women were ‘excluded from combat’ roles and hence ‘would not be needed in the event of a draft.’”

“The role of women in the military has changed dramatically since then. Beginning in 1991, thousands of women have served with distinction in a wide range of combat roles, from operating military aircraft and naval vessels to participating in boots-on-the-ground infantry missions,” Sotomayor continued. “Women have passed the military’s demanding tests to become U. S. Army Rangers, Navy SEALs, and Green Berets… As of 2015, there are no longer any positions in the United States Armed Forces closed to women.” (Read more from “Supreme Court Punts on Including Women in the Draft” HERE)

GOING DARK: Scientist Who Warned Fauci About COVID Being Manmade Deactivates Social Media

Kristian Andersen, a virologist at California’s Scripps Research Institute who emailed Dr. Anthony Fauci in January 2020 to raise the possibility that the coronavirus may have been engineered, has deactivated his Twitter account.

Andersen’s email to Fauci appeared in a trove of documents obtained last week following a Freedom of Information Act request. The email in question, sent on Jan. 31, 2020, pointed to a report in Science magazine about the global race to share “full sequences of the virus from patients” in order to understand the origins of the virus and learn how it “fits on the family tree of related viruses found in bats and other species.”

Andersen was quoted in the article, in which he talked about the difficulties scientists face in trying to determine natural hosts. . .

“The unusual features of the virus make up a really small part of the genome (<0.1%) so one has to look really closely at all the sequences to see that some of the features (potentially) look engineered," he wrote. He wrote that his team was in the early stages of looking critically at the data but found "the genome inconsistent with expectations from evolutionary theory. But we have to look at this much more closely and there are still further analyses to be done, so those options could still change."
