Alan Dershowitz Sues CNN For $300 Million

Harvard Law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz on Tuesday filed a lawsuit against CNN, claiming the cable news network, together with their hosts and panelists, intentionally created a false narrative about what the famed criminal defense attorney argued while defending the president during impeachment proceedings earlier this year.

Dershowitz’s allegations stem from news coverage of his argument about the kind of quid pro quos a sitting president may engage in while office—provided that the exchange is done with the intent of winning re-election in the public interest and not in violation of some law. While his theory was widely panned by attorneys and legal experts across the media, Dershowitz claimed that CNN intentionally omitted portions of his argument to make it appear as though he was arguing “the exact opposite of what he said.”

The specific exchange at the crux of the controversy came when Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) asked Dershowitz if it mattered whether there was a quid pro quo arrangement in Trump’s dealings with Ukraine.

“The only thing that would make a quid pro quo unlawful is if the ‘quo’ were in some way illegal,” Dershowitz responded, saying there were “three possible motives” a political figure could have for their conduct: a motive in the public interest, a motive in his own political interest, and a motive in his own financial interest. . .

In his lawsuit, Dershowitz claims that CNN only aired him saying the latter sentence to promulgate “a one-sided and false narrative that Professor Dershowitz believes and argued that as long as the President believes his reelection is in the public interest, that he could do anything at all – including illegal acts – and be immune from impeachment.” (Read more from “Alan Dershowitz Sues CNN for $300 Million” HERE)

City Hid COVID-19 Info From Public to Continue Lockdown Restrictions

In a disturbing revelation, emails discovered by local press show that Nashville’s leadership hid information about the virility of the COVID-19 virus in order to keep city lockdowns in place.

According to Fox affiliate, WZTV in Nashville, Tennessee, emails between the Mayor’s senior advisor and the Health Department show that information was given to them about the Coronavirus that showed cases resulting from bars and restaurants were incredibly low. City leadership’s reaction was to keep this away from the public’s view and keep the city in an unnecessary lockdown:

On June 30th, contact tracing was given a small view of coronavirus clusters. Construction and nursing homes were found to be causing problems with more than a thousand cases traced to each category, but bars and restaurants reported just 22 cases.

Leslie Waller from the health department asks, “This isn’t going to be publicly released, right? Just info for Mayor’s Office?”

“Correct, not for public consumption,” writes senior advisor Benjamin Eagles.

Trump Vows: U.S. Will Have Vaccine Doses for All Americans in April (VIDEO)

President Donald Trump said Friday that there will be enough doses of coronavirus vaccine for every American by April, contradicting administration health officials who have projected the country would not reach that point until mid-2021.

“Hundreds of millions of doses will be available every month and we expect to have enough vaccines for every American by April,” he said at a White House press briefing. Trump earlier in the week said that doses would be broadly available by March.

Trump touted the timeline as evidence of “historic progress,” and said of a vaccine, “we essentially have it — we will be announcing it soon.” Notably, the president did not repeat his familiar prediction that the government would authorize a vaccine by election day, which top government scientists have said would be unlikely.

The Food and Drug Administration has not yet given emergency authorization or approval to any of the coronavirus vaccines now in development. Vaccines from Moderna, Pfizer and AstraZeneca are now in the final stage of clinical trials in the United States, and the government has pre-purchased hundreds of millions of doses of at least a half-dozen experimental shots. WATCH: Biden’s Painful Town Hall Event Shows Why CNN Isn’t Moderating the Presidential Debates

By Townhall. In stark contrast to President Trump’s town hall event with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos earlier this week, CNN’s Anderson Cooper and a crowd of mostly friendly supporters took turns asking the 77-year-old candidate softball questions.

Biden told all sorts of lies during the one-hour event on CNN, a fitting location for such fake news. Biden lied when he accused President Trump of not mentioning the coronavirus in his State of the Union Address. . .

Biden also repeated debunked conspiracy theories about the Post Office and mail collection boxes, though he couldn’t remember the name of “those, those, those, um, places where you mail your ballots.”

It also looks like CNN went to great lengths to find Biden supporters to ask friendly questions of the candidate. Here’s one example:

Mollie Hemingway Compares Media Treatment of Trump vs. Biden: ‘It Is Beyond Propaganda’

By Fox News. President Trump and Joe Biden have both been hitting the campaign trail this week and it’s noticeable there’s a stark contrast in media treatment between the two, Fox News contributor Mollie Hemingway said Thursday night.

“It is beyond propaganda,” Hemingway said during an appearance on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle.”

In a town hall on CNN earlier in the evening, Biden was reportedly confronted by friendly supporters who delivered “softball” questions. Meanwhile, Trump’s town hall with ABC News on Tuesday was nothing of the sort and the president instead was criticized in his interactions.

“It used to be said that the media acted as a public relations arm of the Democrat Party,” Hemingway said. “I think it’s much easier to just understand them as essentially running the Biden campaign, particularly with the trouble that Biden is having in terms of typical campaigning.” (Read more from “Mollie Hemingway Compares Media Treatment of Trump vs. Biden: ‘It Is Beyond Propaganda’” HERE)

Democratic Voters Toss Joe Biden Softballs During CNN Town Hall

By New York Post. Joe Biden was tossed softball questions from mostly all Democratic voters at a 75-minute CNN town hall on Thursday night in the battleground state of Pennsylvania, two nights after President Trump was hammered by uncommitted voters in Philadelphia.

The septuagenarian candidate was asked such questions as how he would keep American workplaces safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, whether he’d benefited from white privilege, and how he would bring the nation together, with little follow up from moderator Anderson Cooper.

With only 12 days until the first presidential debate, Biden attempted to dodge any questions that were remotely difficult and was confronted with only three people who voted for Trump in 2016 — appearing to mock one of them for that vote.

“How ya feeling now, Julie?” a smirking Biden asked Julie Masser Ballay when Cooper said she voted for the president four years ago. . .

Biden also avoided directly answering another Trump supporter’s question on how he would get Americans off federal benefits and back to work amid the pandemic, and entirely dodged one woman who asked him if he supported the Green New Deal being pushed by the left flank of his party. Poof! the Portland Riots Just Stopped. Why?; Trump Goes After BLM

By PJ Media. Have Portland’s Professional Protesters™ been smoked out? Since May 29th, Portland has been the back drop of more than 100 nights of antifa, anarchist and Black Lives Matter, Inc™ terroristic riots. They set fires, looted, and intimidated people by threatening to burn them alive in their homes. . .

I certainly don’t want to tempt these thugs, but it can’t go without saying that Portland’s 100 plus days of riots appeared to end after Wednesday, September 9th.

That was the last time the Portland Police Bureau warned about protests. . .

By September 10th, the overworked cops from Portland Police Bureau were offered out to assist other agencies. Suddenly, instead of being required to work the riots lines, they were free. . .

The riots have stopped. Did they go to San Francisco or Lancaster, Pennsylvania to raise hell? Did they stop because of the smokey skies and air quality numbers that are off the charts? It seems unlikely that a group that spawned a murderer, multiple arsonists and police assaulters would be dissuaded by smoky quality air. Is it because the media are busy covering the wildfires and there’s nothing in rioting for the terrorists? Or is it because of something else? (Read more from “Poof! the Portland Riots Just Stopped. Why?” HERE)

Trump Goes After Black Lives Matter, ‘Toxic Propaganda’ in Schools

By Politico. President Donald Trump leaned into the culture wars on Thursday, railing against the Black Lives Matter movement, the 1619 Project and what he called “toxic propaganda” in school curriculum.

“We are here today to declare that we will never submit to tyranny,” Trump said. “We will reclaim our history, and our country, for citizens of every race, color, religion and creed.”

Trump unleashed a cascade of grievances from the National Archives Museum at an event timed to coincide with the anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787. Unlike his often-freewheeling rhetoric, Trump hewed closely to his prepared remarks during the speech.

“Left-wing mobs have torn down statues of our founders, desecrated our memorials and carried out a campaign of violence and anarchy,” Trump said. “Whether it is the mob on the street, or the cancel culture in the boardroom, the goal is the same: to silence dissent, to scare you out of speaking the truth and to bully Americans into abandoning their values.” (Read more from “Trump Goes After Black Lives Matter, ‘Toxic Propaganda’ in Schools” HERE)

COVID-19 Pandemic May Permanently Replace Workers With Robots

The coronavirus pandemic is accelerating the trend of robots replacing humans in the workplace, which could result in a recovery from recession that nonetheless costs jobs, according to a new report.

Workers whose jobs can be done by machines suffered more layoffs per capita than those with jobs that aren’t as easily automated, the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia said in a report released Monday. People of color were especially harmed, possibly because of their concentration in service jobs at risk of automation.

The report noted that most job losses during the health crisis are expected to be temporary. Yet, cashiers, hotel staffers, parking attendants, and others are at risk of permanently losing work if companies become satisfied with labor-saving technology, or if fears over future pandemics convince firms to stick with machines. The report added that previous recessions resulted in technology replacing laid-off workers too, leading to “jobless recoveries.”

There has already been anecdotal evidence that the coronavirus has exacerbated job losses to machines. Besides harming business balance sheets, COVID-19 has forced companies to limit contact between customers and employees. The result has been hotels replacing humans with self-check-in kiosks, meatpacking plants deploying slaughterhouse robots, and call centers using artificial intelligence to hold conversations. The study specifically cited the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, which went cashless and laid off 500 toll workers. WATCH: Trump Announces Military Will Administer COVID Vaccine to Public

Speaking from the White House Wednesday afternoon, President Trump announced he has ordered the military to help administer a Wuhan coronavirus vaccine to the American public when it becomes available. The move comes as part of the newly released National Vaccine Distribution Plan, which was sent out to governors of all 50 states today.

“Today my administration released our detailed National Vaccine Distribution Plan and that includes a plan to ensure that we swiftly deliver the vaccine directly to America’s senior citizens in nursing homes and it’s all set. We have our military lined up. Everybody is lined up and we think that’s going to go nicely,” Trump said. “We’re fully mobilizing the awesome power of American industry and also our military.”

“We’re on track to deliver and distribute the vaccine in a very, very safe and effective manner,” Trump continued, saying December will be the latest date 100,000 doses will be distributed with the possibility of an October start date. “We’re ready to move and it will be a full distribution.”

Minneapolis City Council, Which Voted to Dismantle Police, Unsettled by Rise of Crime and Demand Action From Law Enforcement

Minneapolis City Council members, who recently voted to defund the police department, demanded answers from the city’s police chief for the recent uptick in crime.

“What I am sort of flabbergasted by right now is colleagues, who a very short time ago were calling for abolition, are now suggesting we should be putting more resources and funding into MPD,” Councilmember Phillipe Cunningham, who supported defunding the department, said during a police reform meeting Tuesday.

The council took more than $1 million from the police budget this summer to hire “violence interrupters,” who are supposed to defuse potentially violent situations instead of police officers. The impetus for the policy came in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death during his arrest by Minneapolis police officers on May 25, sparking protests all over the country.

In June, the council voted unanimously to dismantle the police department in favor of a “Department of Community Safety.” That plan was delayed in August when the Minneapolis Charter Commission voted to take more time to review the plan.

According to Minneapolis Police Department crime data, violent crimes such as assaults, robberies, and homicides are up in 2020. In August, the city passed the grim milestone of seeing more homicides in 2020 than in all of 2019. Arsons are also up 55%. Trump Warns: Kamala Harris Must Not Become President Through the Back Door

President Donald Trump on Thursday warned that Sen. Kamala Harris might become the President of the United States if former Vice President Joe Biden was elected and unable to finish his presidency.

“If a woman is going to become the first president of the United States, it can’t be her,” Trump said. “That would rip our country apart. This is not what people want. And she comes in through the back door.”

The president spoke about Harris, Biden’s running mate, during a campaign rally in Wisconsin on Thursday night. . .

The president recalled that Biden referred to a “Harris-Biden administration” hinting that the former vice president believed that Harris was the president. He also referred to Harris’ comment about a “Harris administration with Biden as president.” (Read more from “Trump Warns: Kamala Harris Must Not Become President Through the Back Door” HERE)

FBI: Chinese, Russian Hackers Pose ‘Very, Very Real Threat’ to Vaccine Research

FBI Director Christopher Wray told a House panel Thursday that foreign hackers, particularly from China and Russia, are trying to steal U.S. coronavirus vaccine research and testing technology and engaging in efforts to disrupt the government’s response to the ongoing pandemic.

During a hearing on threats to America held by the House Homeland Security Committee, Rep. Xochitl Torres Small (D-NM) noted:

According to U.S. intelligence officials, Chinese and Russian hackers are using cyber tools to steal American biomedical research used for the development of a COVID-19 [coronavirus disease] vaccine. Officials have also expressed concern about the possibility of Chinese and Russian hackers damaging American efforts to develop a vaccine.

She went on to ask Wray, “What is the department doing to combat foreign hackers and to work with pharmaceutical and academic institutions to strengthen [its] cyber defense capabilities?”

“You’re correct that we are seeing efforts by our foreign adversaries to engage in cyber targeting of [coronavirus disease] vaccine research, testing technology, treatment technology, and efforts to disrupt our national response to the pandemic,” the FBI chief responded.
