Man Arrested for Planning ‘Mass Casualty Event’ at Cybertruck Event With Elon Musk: Report

A man was arrested late last week for planning a “mass casualty event” at Tesla’s headquarters in Texas during an event to celebrate the much anticipated release of the electric car company’s new Cybertruck, according to law enforcement officials.

A SWAT team tracked down and arrested 28-year-old Paul Ryan Overeem at a McDonald’s parking lot and arrested him after he allegedly threatened to attack the event in messages he wrote on social media.

Tesla was notified on November 10 about the messages and they subsequently contacted local law enforcement officials who then began investigating, according to the Austin American-Statesman. Gold Bars and Allegations: Federal Investigators Uncover Links Between Menendez and Accused Bribery

A startling revelation has emerged in the ongoing legal saga surrounding Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ), as federal investigators have uncovered a direct connection between at least four gold bars recovered during a search of Menendez’s home and one of the individuals accused of bribing the senator.

The intricate web of allegations began in 2013 when businessman Fred Daibes reported an armed robbery, claiming that assailants had stolen $500,000 in cash and nearly two dozen gold bars from him. The police later apprehended the suspects, and Daibes’ property, including the gold bars, was returned to him. Crucially, Daibes attested that each gold bar had a unique serial number, a feature that would prevent duplication.

However, a recent twist in the Menendez case indicates that four of the gold bars recovered from Menendez’s residence share the same serial numbers as four of the 22 gold bars stolen from Daibes and subsequently returned. Daibes himself faces charges in the federal indictment, accused of conspiring to bribe Menendez and engaging in fraud.

The indictment outlines a corrupt relationship between Menendez, his wife, and New Jersey businessmen Wael Hana, Jose Uribe, and Fred Daibes. Allegedly, these businessmen provided the senator with bribes totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars, with the intention of securing protection and advancing interests related to Egypt.

Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) has called for Menendez’s expulsion from the Senate, drawing parallels to the recent expulsion of now-former Rep. George Santos (R-NY) by the U.S. House of Representatives. Fetterman argued that Menendez’s alleged actions are more serious and warrant his removal from the Senate, emphasizing the need to make a decisive decision despite Menendez’s right to a day in court.

As the legal proceedings unfold, Menendez finds himself entangled in a high-stakes controversy, with the gold bars serving as a tangible link between the accused bribers and the senator, potentially influencing the trajectory of the case and Menendez’s political future.

Leftist Outlets Stoke Fear of Second Trump Administration

Leftist media outlets — the Washington Post, the New York Times, and the Atlantic — are stoking fear about a second Trump administration as former President Donald Trump leads President Joe Biden in key polling.

On Friday, Washington Post Editor-at-Large Robert Kagan wrote an op-ed titled “A Trump dictatorship is increasingly inevitable. We should stop pretending.” That was followed by a Monday excerpt labeled “The Fear of a Looming Trump Dictatorship” by columnist Ishaan Tharoor in the Post’s Today’s WorldView Newsletter.

“In just a few years, we have gone from being relatively secure in our democracy to being a few short steps, and a matter of months, away from the possibility of dictatorship,” wrote Kagan.

He expressed worry that if Trump were to win back the White House, he could potentially seek a third term and disregard the Twenty-Second Amendment:

What about the desire for reelection, a factor that constrains most presidents? Trump might not want or need a third term, but were he to decide he wanted one, as he has sometimes indicated, would the 22nd Amendment block him any more effectively from being president for life than the Supreme Court, if he refused to be blocked? Why should anyone think that amendment would be more sacrosanct than any other part of the Constitution for a man like Trump, or perhaps more importantly, for his devoted supporters?

SCOTUS Dockets Emergency Application Over ‘Assault Weapons’ Ban

The Supreme Court of the United States received and docketed an emergency application seeking an injunction against enforcement of Illinois’ “assault weapons” ban while the appeal process is ongoing.

The case is National Association for Gun Rights v. City of Naperville, Illinois. The plaintiffs include the National Association for Gun Rights, Robert C. Bevis, and Law Weapons, Inc. d/b/a Law Weapons and Supply.

The plaintiffs seek an en banc hearing before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and an injunction against enforcement of the Protect Illinois Communities Act until the hearing is held.

CNN host Dana Bash hit back against Democratic Rep. Pramila Jayapal of Washington Sunday on the issue of sexual violence against women by Hamas.

“I’ve seen a lot of Progressive women. Generally speaking, they’re quick to defend women’s rights and to speak out against using rape as a weapon of war, but downright silent on what we saw on Oct. 7 and what might be happening inside Gaza right now to these hostages,” Bash told Jayapal in an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

“I already answered your question, Dana,” Jayapal said. “I said it’s horrific, and I think that rape is horrific. Sexual assault is horrific. I think that it happens in war situations. Terrorist organizations like Hamas obviously are using these as tools. However, I think we have to be balanced about bringing in the outrages against Palestinians. Biden’s Efforts to Wreak Havoc on Russia Seem to Have Failed Miserably

The Biden administration’s efforts to destabilize Russia’s economy and damage the Kremlin’s public approval have not materialized, according to a review of multiple sources.

The United States, the European Union (E.U.), the United Kingdom (U.K.) and other Western allies have taken several steps to undermine public opinion in Moscow and throttle Russia’s economy following the country’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. However, Russia’s economy is recovering – despite forced isolation from the West – and Moscow appears to have retained the trust of its citizens as the war against Ukraine continues, according to a review of several sources.

Following the beginning of the 2022 invasion of Ukraine, many Western nations introduced or inflated sanctions against Russia and its citizens, resulting in over $300 billion in Russian banking assets being frozen as of October, according to the European Council. The Biden administration continues to enforce its sanctions against Russia to hold it “accountable for its war of aggression,” and Congress has also approved roughly $100 billion in aid to Ukraine since the war started.

“Imagine what happens if we, in fact, unite all of Europe, and [Russian President Vladimir] Putin is finally put down where he cannot cause the kind of trouble he’s been causing,” President Joe Biden said in October on “60 Minutes.” “We have enormous opportunities, enormous opportunities to make it a better world.”

Muslim American Leaders in Swing States Vow to Defeat Biden in 2024

Muslim American leaders from swing states launched the #AbandonBiden campaign on Saturday, vowing to defeat President Joe Biden in 2024 due to his unwillingness to call for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.

During a press conference in Michigan, about a dozen leaders from swing states Michigan, Minnesota, Arizona, Wisconsin, Florida, Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania vowed not to vote for him, accusing him of abandoning Muslim Americans who helped him win in 2020.

“Muslim Americans have come together finally to state in completely clear terms that the position of the Biden administration … is a red line for all Muslim Americans,” said Hassan Abdel Salam, leader of the #AbandonBiden National Coalition and assistant professor of sociology at the University of Minnesota.

While some of the leaders delivered a warning to Biden to change his stance, others said he had already lost their votes.

Texas Gets One Step Closer to Leaving US

Advocates for Texas’ secession from the United States believe they are on the verge of scoring a crucial victory.

The Texas Republican Party’s executive committee is set to vote over the weekend on which ballot propositions voters will decide during the Republican primary elections in March 2024. One measure would ask Republican voters, “Should the State of Texas reassert its status as an independent nation?”

Ahead of the vote, the Texas Nationalist Movement, an organization that supports Texas’ independence from the U.S., warned the GOP they have enough signatures to force a vote on the question of whether they support secession.

Texas nationalists have for years pushed for a referendum on Texas secession, despite the fact there is no provision for a state to secede in the U.S. Constitution. The state seceded from Mexico in 1836 and spent nine years as its own nation before becoming a U.S. state. IRS Doubles Penalty for this Common Mistake

The Internal Revenue Service penalty for tax underpayments has nearly tripled since 2021, putting gig economy workers and consultants at the largest risk of having to cough up big bucks to Uncle Sam.

As of Oct. 1, the IRS will now charge 8% interest on estimated tax underpayments, up from 3% two years ago, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The penalties are largely applied to pay-as-you-go workers who do not have taxes withheld and fail to make estimated quarterly payments before filing their taxes in April.

Workers who do have taxes withheld would still be hit with the new higher penalty if they don’t accurately calculate and pay taxes on any additional income, as would people earning higher-than-expected dividend payments.

Karla Dennis, a La Palma, Calif., enrolled agent, said taxpayers who change their withholding to get more weekly cash could also run into trouble. (Read more from “IRS Doubles Penalty for this Common Mistake” HERE)

Millions of Foreign-Born Citizens Have Flooded Into the U.S. Since Biden, Highest Percentage in Nation’s History

The Census Bureau’s Current Population Survey (CPS) shows that the total foreign-born or immigrant population (legal and illegal) was 49.5 million in October 2023 — a 4.5 million increase since President Biden took office and a new record high. At 15 percent, the foreign-born share of the U.S. population is also the highest ever recorded in American history. As the debate rages over the ongoing border crisis, this finding is important because administrative numbers such as border encounters or even legal immigrant arrivals do not measure the actual size of the immigrant population, which is what ultimately determines immigration’s impact on the country.

Among the findings:

In October 2023, the CPS shows that 15 percent of the U.S. population is now foreign-born — higher than any U.S. government survey or census has ever recorded.

The 49.5 million foreign-born residents (legal and illegal) in October 2023 is also a new record high.
Since President Biden took office in January 2021, the foreign-born population has grown by 4.5 million — larger than the individual populations of 25 U.S. states.

Based on our prior estimates of illegal immigrants, more than half (2.5 million) of the 4.5 million increase in the foreign-born population since January 2021 is likely due to illegal immigration. If adjusted for those missed by the survey, the increase would be larger.

The 4.5 million increase overall and the 2.5 million increase in illegal immigrants are both net figures. The number of new arrivals was significantly higher, but was offset by outmigration and natural mortality among the foreign-born already here.

The foreign-born population has grown on average by 137,000 a month since President Biden took office, compared to 42,000 a month during Trump’s presidency before Covid-19 hit, and 68,000 a month during President Obama’s two terms.

The scale of immigration is so high that it appears to have made the new Census Bureau population projections, published on November 9 of this year, obsolete. The bureau projected that the foreign-born share was not supposed to hit 15 percent until 2033.

The largest percentage increases since January 2021 are for immigrants from South America (up 28 percent); Central America (up 25 percent); Sub-Saharan Africa (up 21 percent); the Caribbean (up 20 percent); and the Middle East (up 14 percent).
