The White House Sure Is Appreciative of Mitt Romney

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) is only in office for about another year, and it sure looks like he’s using his time to frustrate fellow Republicans while helping out President Joe Biden and the Democrats. On Sunday, the senator appeared on NBC News’ “Meet the Press,” during which he was asked about evidence for an impeachment inquiry against the president.

How he responded was worthy of getting the White House’s attention. The Biden-Harris HQ X account also shared a clip of the segment. “As you know, House Republicans have signaled that they may vote as early as this week on an impeachment inquiry into President Biden, despite the fact that they haven’t shown, yet, a direct link between Hunter Biden’s business dealings and President Biden,” host Kristen Welker claimed. “Have you seen any evidence that President Biden has committed high crimes and misdemeanors,” she went on to ask.

Although he stammered a bit with his response, Romney claimed he had not. “No. I–I–I don’t see any evidence of that at all. I think before you begin an impeachment inquiry, you ought to have some evidence, some inclination that there’s been wrongdoing. And so far, there’s nothing of that nature that’s been provided,” he shared.

As The Hill reported, a White House spokesperson sent out an email including a partial transcript and a clip of the segment, touting Romney’s opposition to impeachment. (Read more from “The White House Sure Is Appreciative of Mitt Romney” HERE)

A Funny Thing Happened When Kamala Harris Visited Texas

Trumpeting the Biden administration’s record to Latinos in Houston last week, Vice President Kamala Harris ignored the two biggest issues Hispanics — and everyone else in the Lone Star State — are facing today: wide-open borders and the failure of Bidenomics.

Texas Latinos weren’t impressed.

“Kamala Harris coming to Houston while continuing to ignore the crisis at our southern border is a slap in the face to every Texan, every American, and every Hispanic American in this country,” said former U.S. Rep. Mayra Flores.

Why did Harris — the administration’s appointed and anointed “border czar” — come to Texas anyway? It’s a sign that Democrats are rightly worried that the Latino portion of their traditional base is beginning to lose interest in what they have to offer.

And they’re right to be worried. Even the Washington Post acknowledged that “Hispanic voters are drifting toward the GOP,” citing not only President Donald Trump’s showing with Hispanics in 2020 but also kitchen table issues such as the economy and inflation. Chinese Military-Linked Hackers Infiltrate Critical U.S. Systems to Cause Societal Chaos

Hackers affiliated with China’s military have reportedly tapped into dozens of critical U.S. systems over the past year to test its capacity to create chaos in American life, according to U.S. and security industry officials.

The hacks appeared to be made with an intention toward some future action rather than disrupting systems in the moment and suggest that the People’s Liberation Army of China is testing its and the United States’ capabilities in case hostilities break out over Taiwan, experts told The Washington Post.

One of the agencies responsible for monitoring and combating foreign cyber threats is the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) at the Department of Homeland Security.

“It is very clear that Chinese attempts to compromise critical infrastructure are in part to pre-position themselves to be able to disrupt or destroy that critical infrastructure in the event of a conflict, to either prevent the United States from being able to project power into Asia or to cause societal chaos inside the United States — to affect our decision-making around a crisis,” CISA executive director Brandon Wales told the Post. “That is a significant change from Chinese cyber activity from seven to 10 years ago that was focused primarily on political and economic espionage.” (Read more from “Chinese Military-Linked Hackers Infiltrate Critical U.S. Systems to Cause Societal Chaos” HERE)

Hillary Clinton To Take Larger Role In Biden’s Re-Election Campaign — And Even Democrats Are Laughing

Former Secretary of State and failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is reportedly gearing up to take on a larger role inPresident Joe Biden’s re-election campaign — a decision that is receiving a fair amount of mockery from both sides of the political aisle.

Over the last month, although she is not officially a member of Biden’s campaign team, she has positioned herself as one of his most visible and influential surrogates. Clinton hosted a big-ticket fundraiser in late November, benefitting his re-election war chest — and two weeks earlier, she published an op-ed in The Atlantic defending the Biden administration’s response to the ongoing war between Israel and the terror group Hamas. . .

But not everyone was convinced that Clinton, who lost to former President Donald Trump in 2016, was the best person to help Biden defeat Trump — who still has a formidable lead on the rest of the Republican primary field — in 2024.

Supreme Court to Quickly Decide Whether or Not to Hear Trump Immunity Defense in Special Counsel Prosecution

The U.S. Supreme Court will decide in coming weeks whether or not to expedite deciding if former President Donald Trump is immune from prosecution on charges of attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 election, as Special Counsel Jack Smith petitioned the court Monday.

A federal trial court recently ruled in Smith’s favor that Trump is not immune from prosecution, but Smith’s request seeks to prevent a drawn-out Trump appeal that could delay his trial, currently set to begin March 4, 2024.

“It is of paramount public importance that respondent’s claims of immunity be resolved as expeditiously as possible,” Smith wrote in his petition to the Supreme Court.

Trump recently appealed Judge Tanya Chutkan’s immunity ruling, a step that suspended the trial until the question is resolved. By plucking the appeal from the appeals court, the Supreme Court could definitively resolve the question of Trump’s immunity earlier and prevent the beginning of Trump’s trial from slipping.

A federal grand jury in D.C. indicted Trump on four counts on August 1. Trump insists that his actions within the indictment fall within the “outer perimeter” of his official duties as president, and therefore he enjoys absolute immunity. He also argued that having been impeached for his actions on January 6 and then acquitted by the U.S. Senate preclude him from prosecution on double jeopardy grounds. Supreme Court Declines To Take Up Challenge To ‘Conversion Therapy’ Ban

The Supreme Court decided not to take up a challenge to Washington State’s ban on “conversion therapy” for minors on Monday, allowing a lower court decision upholding the law to stand.

The High Court was divided in its decision, with Justice Brett Kavanaugh indicating he would have heard the case and conservative Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito penning separate dissents. The law, called SB 5722, was passed in 2018 and adds “conversion therapy” for minors to the list of violations that could cost a therapist their license.

“Under SB 5722, licensed counselors can speak with minors about gender dysphoria, but only if they convey the state-approved message of encouraging minors to explore their gender identities,” Justice Thomas wrote, continuing:

Expressing any other message is forbidden—even if the counselor’s clients ask for help to accept their biological sex. That is viewpoint-based and content-based discrimination in its purest form. As a result, SB 5722 is presumptively unconstitutional, and the state must show that it can survive strict scrutiny before enforcing it.

Alex Jones Applauds Musk for Reinstating Him, Warns the ‘Establishment’ Will ‘Come After Him’

By Daily Caller. Infowars founder Alex Jones applauded billionaire Elon Musk on Sunday for reinstating him to X (formerly Twitter), but gave a sharp warning that “big establishment sponsors” will “come after him.”

Jones was reinstated on the social media platform Saturday night following a Twitter poll asking users if they would want the Infowars founder back on the site. After almost 2 million votes, results showed that 70.1% of responders wanted Jones back on.

The Infowars founder joined his first Twitter space Sunday afternoon to discuss his thoughts on how it feels to be back on the platform since being banned in 2018 for alleged abusive behavior. When asked if he believed that Musk would possibly receive backlash for reinstating him, Jones stated that while it might “monetarily” hurt the platform, Musk is a “rebel.”

“Well, I think you said that yesterday … But he basically said it’s the right thing to do because the principle and it’s also what the majority of the vote said. So this probably will hurt X monetarily but ‘justice be done, may the heavens fall’ basically,” Jones stated. “But at the end of the day, it already has way more traffic and way more people — it’s avant-garde, it’s revolutionary, it’s rebel, it’s Maverick.”

“I’m not kissing [Elon Musk’s] ass, it’s true. And the fact that he could take over Twitter, free it and bring back one of the most demonized people — if not the most demonized in the world, talk about a witch hunt — shows he put his money where his mouth is and is the Maverick’s Maverick.”

Escalating Iranian-Backed Terrorist Attacks in the Middle East Heighten Concerns Over U.S. Response

In recent developments, the Middle East has witnessed a surge in attacks against U.S. forces by Iranian-backed terrorist groups, leading to growing frustrations among U.S. officials over President Joe Biden’s perceived lack of a forceful response. Fox News correspondent Jennifer Griffin reports that approximately a dozen attacks were launched within a 48-hour period, targeting various sites, including Al Asad Air Base, Mission Support Site Euphrates, Rumalyn Landing Zone, Patrol Base Shaddadi, Erbil, Green Village, and the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad.

The onslaught, comprising missile and drone strikes, represents an alarming escalation in hostilities, with U.S. forces being targeted multiple times since October 17 by Islamic terrorist groups supported by Iran. Notably, these attacks have extended beyond ground forces, with missiles and drones being used against U.S. Navy warships in the Red Sea.

U.S. Central Command disclosed on Saturday that the French Navy successfully intercepted two Houthi drones in the Red Sea, originating from Yemen. The situation has prompted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to express concern directly to President Biden, indicating that Israel is prepared to take action against the Houthi terrorists if the U.S. fails to respond adequately. This warning follows repeated attacks by the Houthi group on shipping vessels associated with Israel.

Criticism of President Biden’s handling of the situation has intensified, with numerous U.S. defense officials expressing concern about the lack of a robust response. Critics argue that Biden’s approach, intended to avoid escalation, is inadvertently fueling an increase in attacks. Former CIA official Marc Polymeropoulos emphasized the need for immediate strikes on Houthi targets, stating that action is imperative.

Retired Vice Adm. John Miller, former commander of U.S. 5th Fleet, echoed these concerns, asserting that the U.S. is not taking the situation seriously, as the attacks have gone largely unanswered. Miller emphasized the failure to deter the perpetrators, stating that the current approach is not effectively preventing further acts of aggression.

Blinken: Hamas’ Sexual Violence Against Israel ‘Beyond Anything That I Have Seen’ (VIDEO)

Secretary of State Antony Blinken said over the weekend that the evidence he has seen of the sexual violence inflicted against Israelis on October 7 is unlike anything he has ever witnessed.

Blinken made the remarks during a Sunday interview on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Jake Tapper when asked why the United Nations and the international community has been so slow to condemn Hamas’ sexual atrocities. . .

“The atrocities that we saw on October 7 are almost beyond human description or beyond our capacity to digest,” he said. “And we have talked about them before. But the sexual violence that we saw on October 7 is beyond anything that I have seen either.”

“And, look, I don’t have a good answer to that question,” he added. “I think it’s a question that these organizations, these countries need to ask themselves.” (Read more from “Blinken: Hamas’ Sexual Violence Against Israel ‘Beyond Anything That I Have Seen’” HERE)

Newsom Humiliated By Disastrous Budget Report One Week After Bragging About California’s Economy

California is facing a fiscal crisis with a record $68 billion budget deficit under the leadership of Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA.).

This week, reports from the nonpartisan Legislative Analyst Office found that California must undergo significant spending cuts and dip into its reserve fund, forcing Newsom to make substantial changes for next year.

The Associated Press details the crisis:

Newsom and the state Legislature now must come up with a plan to cover this deficit. Newsom will present his plan in January and then negotiate with state lawmakers through June. The next budget year begins July 1. Newsom’s first term in office was buoyed by record-smashing surpluses of more than $100 billion in some years. The money allowed him and his Democratic allies in the state Legislature to greatly expand government, including paying for guaranteed health insurance for all low-income adults regardless of their immigration status and free lunches for all public school students. Now, in his second term, growing budget deficits could threaten some of Newsom’s accomplishments at a time when he is building his national profile that could lead to a run for president beyond 2024. The Legislative Analyst Office says their projections, from 2022-2023 through 2027-2028, show a cumulative deficit of $155 billion. Still, even in the face of deficits, Newsom and the state Legislature last year gave a lucrative tax break to the state’s film and television industry while also agreeing to gradually raise the minimum wage for health care workers to $25 per hour. That wage increase will cost the state about $20 billion this year in increased labor costs and Medicaid payments to hospitals.
