US Home Prices Just Did Something They Haven’t Done Since 2012

US home prices in February posted their first year-over-year decline in more than a decade as surging mortgage rates put the squeeze on the market.

The average US home sold for $350,246 for the four weeks ending on Feb. 26, according to an analysis by real estate firm Redfin this week. The sale price plunged by 0.6% compared to the same month one year ago — the first annual decline since February 2012.

“Prices falling from a year ago is a milestone because it hasn’t happened since the housing market was recovering from the 2008 subprime mortgage crisis,” Redfin deputy chief economist Taylor Marr said in a statement.

“Home prices skyrocketed so much over the last few years that they were likely to come down once rates rose from historic lows,” Marr added.

Mortgage rates have jumped again in recent weeks as worse-than-expected inflation reports sparked fear that the Federal Reserve will continue hiking interest rates. The average 30-year mortgage rate rose steadily throughout the month of February and hit a whopping 7.1% as of this week. Joe Biden to Fight for Tax Hikes in 2024 Budget: ‘I’m Gonna Raise Some Taxes’

President Joe Biden will fight to force taxpayers to pay even more corporate taxes in next week’s 2024 proposed budget, which is likely to impact both large and small businesses.

Although the business term “corporation” is widely associated with large companies like Chevron, Berkshire Hathaway, and McDonald’s, C-corporations can be both large and small businesses.

According to the Small Business Administration (SBA), 31.7 million small businesses exist in the United States. Eighty-one percent, or 25.7 million, have no employees (run and operated by a single person) and 19 percent, or 6 million, have paid employees.

The SBA also estimates that small businesses account for 65.1 percent (10.5 million) of net new job created from 2000 to 2019 and comprise 99.7 percent of firms with paid employees.

LGBTQ-Activist Dem Mayor, Who Was ‘Mentored’ by Buttigieg, Arrested for Vile Charge

The gay-activist Democrat mayor of College Park, Maryland, who has branded himself as something of a role model for LGBTQ youth, was arrested Thursday morning on dozens of counts of possessing and distributing child pornography, totaling 56 child sex offenses.

47-year-old Patrick Lewis Wojahn, a regular White House guest and the first openly gay man to take mayoral office in his city, is charged with 40 counts of possession of child sexual exploitative material and 16 felony counts of distribution of child porn.

Wojahn, who ran for mayor in 2015 following eight years of service on the city council “to help College Park realize its unfulfilled promise of becoming a top-tier college town,” was busted after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) notified the Prince George’s County Police Department on Feb. 17 that images and videos of child sexual abuse were uploaded in January to a social media account operating in its jurisdiction. PGPD investigators soon discovered that the account in question belonged to Wojahn, according to a press release issued Thursday by the police department. PGPD detectives served a search warrant Tuesday at Wojahn’s home in College Park, where investigators recovered multiple cell phones, a storage device, a tablet, and a computer before the mayor was handcuffed Thursday by the police department’s Internet Crimes Against Child Unit.

As journalist Andy Ngo reported, Wojahn used to have the Instagram username and Twitter handle, “Patrick4CP,” his re-election tagline, Patrick for College Park. President’s Physician Says Biden Had ‘Cancerous Tissue’ Removed Last Month

In mid-February, Townhall reported on President Biden’s delayed annual physical. The president’s physician, Kevin O’Connor, said at the time that “Biden remains a healthy, vigorous, 80-year-old male, who is fit to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency, to include those as Chief Executive, Head of State and Commander in Chief.”

O’Connor also said in his evaluation that the president continued to undergo skin cancer surveillance after previously having “several localized, non-melanoma skin cancers removed with Mohs surgery before he started his presidency,” and noted “several small areas of actinic change on his face and head were treated with liquid nitrogen cryotherapy” while “one small lesion on the President’s chest was excised today and sent for traditional biopsy.”

On Friday afternoon, the White House released an update following the biopsy from Biden’s doctor: “As expected, the biopsy confirmed that the small lesion was basal cell carcinoma,” O’Connor reported. “All cancerous tissue was successfully removed,” he continued. “The area around the biopsy site was treated presumptively with electrodessication and curettage at the time of biopsy. No further treatment is required,” Biden’s physician concluded.

Jim Jordan Seeks Testimony From 16 FBI Employees Amid Probes Into Whistleblower Allegations

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) took another step in his investigation into numerous FBI whistleblower allegations by requesting testimony from 16 individuals who are current or recent employees at the bureau, according to a letter sent Friday to FBI Director Christopher Wray and obtained by Breitbart News.

Jordan, who chairs the Weaponization of the Federal Government Select Subcommittee, sought the testimonies after conducting closed-door interviews with three FBI witnesses who had contacted Jordan’s office during the past year and alleged misconduct of higher-ups at their jobs.

Jordan wrote to Wray:

From the documentary and testimonial information that we have obtained to date, we have identified several FBI employees who we believe possess information that is necessary for our oversight.

…

We anticipate that we may require testimony from additional FBI employees as our oversight continues, and we expect your cooperation in facilitating these future interviews as well.

‘How Dare You?’: Mom Rips ‘Despicable’ Biden for Laughing at Blame Claim for Sons’ Fentanyl Deaths

A Michigan mom whose two sons died of fentanyl overdoses has slammed President Biden as “despicable” after he laughed off the false claim that his administration was to blame for their deaths.

Rebecca Kiessling, whose sons Caleb, 20, and Kyler, 18, died in July 2020 after taking fentanyl-laced Percocet pills, took aim at Biden on Wednesday night after he used her family’s story to knock GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s suggestion he was responsible for the fatalities.

“This is how you speak about the death of my sons? Because a congresswoman misspoke? You mock the loss of my sons?” Kiessling said in a scathing video posted on Facebook.

Kiessling had testified before the House Homeland Security Committee on Tuesday about the loss of her sons, telling Congress that more should be done to stop fentanyl imports.

Greene (R-Ga.) quickly seized on Kiessling’s testimony, suggesting that the brothers might still be alive if the Biden administration had secured the border and stopped the flow of drugs into the US. Is It Safe? Unions Say Rail Workers Suffering From Migraines, Nausea at Ohio Crash Site

On the administrative front, the toxic train crash in East Palestine, Ohio, has made Pete Buttigieg do something in his capacity as transportation secretary. Okay, maybe that’s a stretch, but the former South Bend mayor’s presidential ambitions fall squarely on how he handles this derailment that caught the Biden administration off guard. Residents of the town, and the surrounding areas, are stricken with fear over the safety of the drinking water. The air quality is also suspect since local wildlife has been absent for days; deer and birds specifically have fled the area. Thousands of fish have died, and the updates on the region’s safety are scattered at best. Given the gross incompetence that infests this administration, I would also have misgivings.

Multiple railway unions have contacted Buttigieg to deliver more troubling news: their workers are getting sick at the crash site, stricken with migraines and nausea. Is it safe? Or will we have to wait another 20 days until we get an answer from Petey on this one (via NBC News):

The presidents of U.S. railroad unions told Biden administration officials that rail workers have fallen ill at the Norfolk Southern derailment site in East Palestine, Ohio, in a push for more train safety.

Leaders from 12 unions met with Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Amit Bose, administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration, in Washington, D.C., Wednesday to discuss the derailment, aftermath and needed safety improvements.

According to the letter, Norfolk Southern rail workers who have worked or continue to work the cleanup site have reported experiencing “migraines and nausea.” One worker reportedly asked his supervisor to be transferred off the derailment site because of his symptoms, but never heard back from his supervisor and was left at the job site.

Top FBI Agents Did Not Want to Raid Mar-a-Lago — But DOJ Prosecutors Pushed Them Anyway: Report

Senior FBI agents reportedly voiced opposition to raiding Mar-a-Lago last year, but Department of Justice prosecutors made them go ahead anyway.

Months before the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago to recover classified documents, there were intense internal deliberations between the FBI and DOJ prosecutors, the Washington Post reported.

On one hand, FBI agents urged cooperation with the former president, knowing the political and public ramifications of aggressive tactics, like a surprise raid. But aggressive is reportedly what prosecutors wanted. From the Post:

On one side, federal prosecutors in the department’s national security division advocated aggressive ways to secure some of the country’s most closely guarded secrets, which they feared Trump was intentionally hiding at Mar-a-Lago; on the other, FBI agents in the Washington field office urged more caution with such a high-profile matter, recommending they take a cooperative rather than confrontational approach.

Eventually, after months of discussions, prosecutors won. On Aug. 8, Trump revealed that the FBI had searched his property, setting off a political firestorm just months before the midterm elections. Tucker Carlson Calls Out ‘Professional Christian’ Leaders for Silence as Canadian Pastor Arrested for Protesting Drag Queen Event

Fox News host Tucker Carlson reacted on Thursday evening to the arrest of a Canadian minister who protested a drag queen event for children.

Derek Riemer of Mission7 was arrested after he protested a drag queen story hour at Calgary Public Library on Saturday; video shows him shoved to the ground by attendees as he proclaimed that “Jesus Christ is Lord” and quoted biblical passages about homosexuality.

“We are disgusted and disturbed and appalled at the perversion and the indoctrination of the centralization and the normalization of this homosexual agenda and drag queen transgender agenda on the children,” Reimer said in an interview with LifeSiteNews. “We feel compelled to take a stand in the name of Jesus against this and to speak out and to preach the gospel, and to rebuke and to expose this.”

Carlson noted that the administration of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has actively opposed Christian and conservative movements in recent years. “On some level, all governments hate religious people, because it’s competition. And revolutionary governments, totalitarian governments, go after religious people first,” he observed. “That is the measure of a free country in the end: are you allowed to believe that there’s an authority higher than the people in charge of your government?”

Alex Murdaugh Found Guilty of Killing Wife, Son

A jury has found Alex Murdaugh, the disgraced South Carolina attorney on trial for the murder of his wife and son, guilty.

The decision comes after just a few hours of deliberation and a six-week trial where more than 70 witnesses testified. Murdaugh has maintained his innocence, suggesting his son Paul was the main target for the murders due to his involvement in a 2019 boat crash that killed 19-year-old Mallory Beach.

The guilty verdict followed two distinct closing arguments from the defense and the prosecution. The prosecution argued that Murdaugh was the only person with the means, motive, and opportunity to kill his wife and son, while the defense claimed the sloppy investigation misses potential other suspects.

“This defendant … has fooled everyone, everyone, everyone who thought they were close to him,” lead prosecutor Creighton Waters told jurors, according to CNN. “Everyone who thought they knew who he was, he’s fooled them all. He fooled Maggie and Paul, too, and they paid for it with their lives. Don’t let him fool you, too.”
