New Capitol Police Job Listing Sets off Alarms

A new listing on a federal government job board is raising constitutional questions, as Capitol Police are looking to hire their own prosecutors.

The listing for an attorney position, posted July 29 on USAJobs.gov, says in the description that the employee would “serve as a Special Assistant United States Attorney” in the Capitol Police’s District Offices. The salary is between $145,094 and $186,368 per year.

“This position is to represent the United States Government primarily prosecuting individuals and/or groups who have engaged in threats and/or acts of violence against Members of Congress, their staffs, United States Capitol Police employees, visitors to the Capitol complex, and facilities and properties within the Capitol Complex,” the listing says.

Notably, the agency listed for the prosecutor’s job is the Capitol Police, not the Department of Justice. Therein lies the problem, according to Mike Davis, founder of the Article 3 Project.

“It is constitutionally wrong to have prosecutors report to law enforcement. It should be the other way around,” Davis said. (Read more from “New Capitol Police Job Listing Sets off Alarms” HERE)

Wikipedia Changes Editing Rules as Users Fight Over Definition of ‘Recession’

Wikipedia has implemented restrictions for new and unregistered users who try to edit its page about recession. According to The Hill, new users and anonymous users will be able to make changes to the recession page, but their edits will be subject to review from volunteer editors.

The definition of recession has been under intense debate since last week, when the Commerce Department revealed U.S. gross domestic product (GDP) fell by an annualized rate of 0.9% during the second quarter of 2022. This followed a 1.6% contraction in the first quarter with an annualized rate of 1.6%.

Traditionally, two consecutive quarters of decreasing GDP — which measures the goods and services a country produces — is considered a recession. However, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has denied the U.S. is in a recession. During a recent appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Yellen stated, “This is not an economy that’s in recession. But we’re in a period of transition in which growth is slowing and that’s necessary and appropriate and we need to be growing at a steady and sustainable pace.” President Biden has similarly said that the current economic situation “doesn’t sound like a recession.”

Despite the common understanding of recession, there is no formal, universally accepted definition of recession. As The Hill notes, the National Bureau of Economic Research is the organization tasked with officially declaring a recession. The NBER defines a recession as “a significant decline in economic activity that is spread across the economy and lasts more than a few months.” NBER often waits until long after a recession has begun to declare that a recession is indeed under way, according to Fortune. Alex Jones Realized on the Stand That His Lawyers Accidentally Sent Private Texts to His Opposition

InfoWars host Alex Jones discovered in court Wednesday that his legal counsel, apparently in error, shared his text messages from the last two years with his opposition.

Jones lost his defamation trial in September 2021 for falsely claiming the Sandy Hook school massacre was a hoax. The current trial will determine how much he owes the plaintiffs – families of the murdered students – in restitution.

While under cross-examination, plaintiffs’ attorney Mark Bankston told Jones his cell phone records prove that he lied during a pretrial deposition about not being able to find any text messages about Sandy Hook cases. Jones has made this same claim for years, The New York Times reported.

“Mr. Jones, did you know that 12 days ago your attorneys messed up and sent me an entire digital copy of your entire cell phone with every text message you’ve sent for the past two years?” Bankston rhetorically asked Jones. “And when informed did not take any steps to identify it as privilege or protect it in anyway. And as of two days ago, it fell free and clear into my possession. And that is how I know you lied to me when you said you didn’t have text messages about Sandy Hook. Did you know that?”

Here’s What the Liberal Media Missed About Kansas’ Abortion Vote

They’re just wrong. It’s sad how the liberal media is clinging to hope regarding this abortion vote in Kansas. The state rejected a pro-life amendment to the state constitution. If it passed, it would have paved the way for a potential outright ban on abortion in the state. The voter initiative went down in flames 58/41. So, of course, the national news media popped open champagne, declaring that this spells big trouble for Republicans. No, it doesn’t. This jubilation from the liberal media is a classic sign that we’re watching another episode of ‘inside the bubble.’

Abortion isn’t going to save Democrats in 2022.

Liberal media members, I have some news for you. We’re in an economic recession. Joe Biden’s approvals are garbage, especially with Hispanics and Asian voters. Every demographic that isn’t whiny woke white women in college has shifted big league to the GOP. To Vox Media’s credit, they noted how the wording of this amendment was a disaster. Second, Kansas still has strict limits on abortion. The state prohibits public funding, a 22-week ban, and a parental consent law is in place.

Is it a total ban? No, but it could be where we’re heading on this issue. There is no outright ban, though there will be multiple attempts from the pro-life side. The Left is still an emotional wreck over the Dobbs decision. Then, before any talk about abortion, they need to decide whether men can or cannot get pregnant. Once that happens, they can go out there and defend their abortion at all times and without exception, a position that is not popular. State Department Warns of ‘Anti-American Violence’ After Al-Qaeda Killing

The U.S. Department of State on Tuesday warned American citizens overseas of an increased threat of “anti-American violence” following the announcement this week that an American airstrike had eliminated al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, Al Arabiya reported on Wednesday.

Washington issued the warning to U.S. embassies and consulates on August 2 as part of a “Worldwide Caution” notice. The U.S. State Department last updated its Worldwide Caution notice on January 15, 2019, demonstrating the significance of Tuesday’s announcement.

“Following al-Zawahiri’s death, supporters of al- Qa’ida, or its affiliated terrorist organizations, may seek to attack U.S. facilities, personnel, or citizens,” the press release read, in part.

The State Department said that it “believes there is a higher potential for anti-American violence given the death of Ayman al-Zawahiri on July 31, 2022.”

“Current information suggests that terrorist organizations continue to plan terrorist attacks against U.S. interests in multiple regions across the globe. These attacks may employ a wide variety of tactics including suicide operations, assassinations, kidnappings, hijackings, and bombings,” the bureau detailed. FBI Whistleblower LEAKS Bureau’s ‘Domestic Terrorism Symbols Guide’ on ‘Militia Violent Extremists’

Project Veritas released a newly leaked document today provided by an FBI whistleblower, which shows how the Bureau classifies American citizens it deems to be potential “Militia Violent Extremists” [MVEs].

In the document, the FBI cites symbols, images, phrases, events, and individuals that agents should look out for when identifying alleged domestic terrorists. . .

Of note, under the “Symbols” section, is a prominent citation of the Second Amendment, where it explains that “MVEs justify their existence with the Second Amendment, due to the mention of a ‘well regulated Militia,’ as well as the right to bear arms.”

Right below that, under the “Commonly Referenced Historical Imagery and Quotes” section, Revolutionary War images such as the Gadsden Flag and the Betsy Ross Flag are listed. Each flag displayed in the document comes with a brief description of what it means.

Under the “Common Phrases and References” section of the leaked document, Ashli Babbitt is cited as a person that MVEs consider to be a Martyr. (Read more from “FBI Whistleblower LEAKS Bureau’s ‘Domestic Terrorism Symbols Guide’ on ‘Militia Violent Extremists’” HERE)

Phones of Pentagon Trump Officials Wiped of Jan. 6 Messages

The Defense Department wiped the data from the phones belonging to top officials in the Trump administration, deleting text messages that were sent at about the time of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

American Oversight, a nonprofit watchdog organization, sought as part of a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit the records from the officials’ phones in the days after the Jan. 6 attack to gain insight into how the government responded while rioters breached the Capitol. However, the DOD responded in March, saying the requested records “were not preserved and therefore could not be searched” because “when an employee separates from DOD or Army he or she turns in the government issued phone, and the phone is wiped,” according to the court filings.

“It’s just astounding to believe that the agency did not understand the importance of preserving its records — particularly [with regards] to the top officials that might have captured: what they were doing, when they were doing it, why they were doing, it on that day,” Heather Sawyer, executive director of American Oversight, told CNN.

The lost communications between top Defense officials such as former acting Secretary of Defense Chris Miller, former chief of staff Kash Patel, and former Secretary of the Army Ryan McCarthy are considered crucial to understanding the government’s response during the Capitol riot. The Homeland Security Department inspector general has taken investigative steps looking into missing text messages between Secret Service members at about the time of the Capitol riot, though that inquiry has taken fire over allegations that the independent watchdog has participated in a cover-up. American Oversight called for an inquiry into the Defense Department, too. (Read more from “Phones of Pentagon Trump Officials Wiped of Jan. 6 Messages” HERE)

Kansas GOP Push to ‘Value Them Both’ on Abortion Law Fails

Kansas voters on Tuesday rejected a state constitutional amendment that would have declared there is no right to abortion, according to Decision Desk HQ. . .

Kansas voters delivered a victory to abortion rights advocates in a deeply conservative state.

“The vote, which comes just over a month after the U.S. Supreme Court revoked federal abortion rights, demonstrates once again that voters across the country do not want politicians interfering in their health care decisions,” Planned Parenthood Action wrote in a statement Tuesday night.

The vote was the first statewide referendum on abortion since the Supreme Court overturned the Roe v. Wade decision in June. The ballot question drew national attention as an early indicator of whether abortion rights will motivate voters in November’s midterm elections.

The amendment’s failure will prevent Kansas’ Republican-led legislature from passing severe abortion restrictions without violating the state constitution. (Read more from “Kansas GOP Push to ‘Value Them Both’ on Abortion Law Fails” HERE)

Doctors Use Virtual Reality Tech to Help Separate Conjoined Twins

Three-year-old twins Bernardo and Arthur Lima were separated by a medical team in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, with the assistance of Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, becoming the oldest pair of craniopagus conjoined twins to have ever been separated.

The pair underwent seven surgeries, and the final surgery alone took 27 hours to complete, as well as the efforts of more than 100 medical professionals.

The team spent months practicing for the surgery using virtual reality projections of the twins, using both CT and MRI scans of the cranial area as a base. During the simulated surgeries, doctors from both countries wore virtual reality headsets and operated together in a “virtual reality room” for the first time.

Surgeon Noor ul Owase Jeelani described the procedure as “space-age stuff.”

“It’s just wonderful,” he said. “It’s really great to see the anatomy and do the surgery before you actually put the children at any risk. You can imagine how reassuring that is for the surgeons.” (Read more from “Doctors Use Virtual Reality Tech to Help Separate Conjoined Twins” HERE)

China Makes Another Major Move With Pelosi in Taiwan

After threats from the Chinese Communist Party and groveling from the Biden administration, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi made it to Taiwan Tuesday.

During the daily briefing at the White House Monday, National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby stressed that nothing has changed with U.S. policy toward China and that President Biden does not support Taiwan’s independence. He also falsely claimed there had been “no drama” with Pelosi’s trip.

“The world has seen the United States government be very clear that nothing has changed — nothing has changed — about our One China policy, which is of course guided by the Taiwan Relations Act, the Three Joint U.S.-PRC Communiqués, and the Six Assurances,” Kirby said. “We have said, and we have repeatedly said, that we oppose any unilateral changes to the status quo from either side. We have said that we do not support Taiwan independence. And we have said that we expect cross-Strait differences to be resolved by peaceful means.”
