Strap On a Gun for Dinner, Get 10% Off at this Restaurant

Walk into the Cajun Experience on Loudoun Street in downtown Leesburg on a Wednesday night, you are sure to be greeted with a smile and the smell of authentic food from the Mississippi Delta.

Glance down around the customers’ waists, and you will likely see a firearm. This is Open Carry Wednesday, the day at the New Orleans-style eatery when patrons are encouraged to bring their licensed firearms, and they’ll get a 10 percent discount on their meals.

This was the brainchild of owner Bryan Crosswhite, who started the special four weeks ago. Crosswhite is a native of Lafayette, LA, and said he has worked internationally as an economist, including in the Middle East.

“I’ve seen what the restricting of freedom is all about,” Crosswhite said. “It’s our legal right to carry. I want it to be [my customers’] right to carry in our restaurant.”

Crosswhite encourages his customers to carry licensed firearms every day, but the discount is only offered on Wednesdays. Many of those who come in are law enforcement and former military, he said, but others come in to enjoy the atmosphere among like-minded individuals.

UFC Suspends MMA Fighter Who Criticized Sex-Changed Man Who Fought Women

You really can’t make this stuff up. In the most recent iteration of ‘America gone wild,’ a man who impregnated his girlfriend at the age of 17, married, and then joined the Navy, later decided he was really a woman.

To make the outside match the inside, he left the Navy and then traveled to Bangkok, Thailand in 2006 where he underwent the knife in several gender reassignment, breast augmentation, and hair transplant surgeries. He named himself “Fallon Fox.”

He is now fighting as a woman in the UFC. Unfortunately for his original opponents, they didn’t know about his past.

In this clip, Fallon brutally knocks out his female opponent with a powerful knee to the head, just 39 seconds after entering the ring:

This didn’t set well with some long-time UFC participants. One, ringside announcer Joe Rogan, complained:

She wants to be able to fight women in MMA? I say no f***ing way. I say if you had a d**k at one point in time, you also have all the bone structure that comes with having a d**k. You have bigger hands, you have bigger shoulder joints. You’re a f***ing man. That’s a man, OK? …I don’t care if you don’t have a d**k any more.

Although Rogan’s distinctly un-PC statement does not appear to have been career ending for him, NFL player Matt Mitrione’s outrage earned him an indefinite suspension from the UFC:

“She’s not a he. He’s a he,” Mitrione said. “He’s chromosomally a man. He had a gender change, not a sex change. He’s still a man. He was a man for 31 years. Thirty-one years. That’s a couple years younger than I am. He’s a man. Six years of taking performance de-hancing drugs, you think is going to change all that? That’s ridiculous.

“That is a lying, sick, sociopathic, disgusting freak,” he continued. “And I mean that. Because you lied on your license to beat up women. That’s disgusting. You should be embarrassed yourself. And the fact that Florida licensed him because California licensed him or whoever the hell did it, it’s an embarrassment to us as fighters, as a sport, and we all should protest that. The woman that’s fighting him, props to you. I hope you beat his ass, and I hope he gets blackballed and never fights again, because that’s disgusting and I’m appalled by that.”

The reaction from the UFC was almost immediate:

“The UFC was appalled by the transphobic comments made by heavyweight Matt Mitrione today in an interview on ‘The MMA Hour.’

The organization finds Mr. Mitrione’s comments offensive and wholly unacceptable and – as a direct result of this significant breach of the UFC’s code of conduct – Mr. Mitrione’s UFC contract has been suspended and the incident is being investigated.

The UFC is a friend and ally of the LGBT community, and expects and requires all 450 of its athletes to treat others with dignity and respect.”

Yes, it’s an upside down world.

The reaction of UFC has drawn a flurry of responses from common sense folk on the web, like this articulate young lady:

We can only hope that most Americans think the same.

The Locusts are Coming! Locusts to Come in 'Biblical Proportions' to USA

Those living along the East Coast of America may soon look up into the sky and see what Pharaoh saw when Moses called down the plagues on the Egyptians.

A species of Cicadas could crawl out of the ground and number as many as one billion per square mile.

These insects live most of their lives underground and then every thirteen to seventeen years they come creeping out of the ground much like a horror movie.

The New York Daily news has reported that these will cover the earth sometimes in a swarm between mid-April and late May. “They will likely affect Connecticut, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C,” wrote National Geographic.

Clinton Pal Sued for Giving Woman Herpes

Arnold Simon, the former CEO of Calvin Klein and close friend of Bill Clinton, is being sued for allegedly infecting a woman with herpes.

While on the date, which was arranged on Match.com, Simon bragged that he had just had lunch with Clinton earlier that day. The date reportedly went well. However, she realized weeks later that Clinton’s pal had given her the sexually transmitted disease.

Now she is taking him to court, according to the New York Post. The woman, who filed the suit as a Jane Doe, told The Post, “He wrote an e-mail that he was very handsome and tall and a well-built man. He refers to himself as looking like Humphrey Bogart.”

The date went well, as Simon regaled her with anecdotes about his relationship to the ex-president, she says.

“He told me that he had just gotten back from a lunch with Clinton; he is a close personal friend with Bill Clinton,” she said, and records, in fact, show he shelled out at least $1 million to Clinton’s foundation.

Catholic University Won't Allow Catholic Students to Form Catholic Group

Roman Catholic, Jesuit-affiliated Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington has refused to recognize the Knights of Columbus as an official student group because — wait for it — the Knights of Columbus is a Catholic organization.

Gonzaga administrators notified the students who had sought the school’s official seal of approval last month, reports The Cardinal Newman Society’s Catholic Education Daily.

“The Knights of Columbus, by their very nature, is a men’s organization in which only Catholics may participate via membership,” reads a letter written by Sue Weitz, vice president for student life. “These criteria are inconsistent with the policy and practice of student organization recognition at Gonzaga University.”

Right here seems like a sufficiently good place to observe that Gonzaga is under the umbrella of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) — a men’s organization in which only Catholic men may participate via membership.

Anyway, Weitz’s letter went on to explain that she feels “strongly” about Gonzaga’s “commitment to non-discrimination and inclusivity” and is troubled by the fact that “all members of a student Knights of Columbus group must be Catholic.”

Obama Admin Spends $21,000 on Basketball Equipment

Ever since the election of the Best Left-Handed Shameless Gunner-in-Chief, America’s relationship with basketball has strengthened. The sport has a mystique. America has been hypnotized into thinking Obama Election Day pick-up games are somehow more competitive than MJ’s Bulls vs. Isiah’s Pistons.

At least the Oval Office just plays pick-up. The Departments of Interior and Transportation have caught the basketball fever so bad, they’ve dropped more than $20K on rebounding machines. Several rebounding machines. Meanwhile, the most the Department of Education spends on hoops is time wasted on Arne Duncan rebounding POTUS air balls.

Now, DOI and DOT haven’t spent their money on some run-of-the-mill rebounding machine. The Shoot-A-Way is a popular apparatus used by teams at all levels of basketball. In fact, two out of the final four use the Shoot-A-Way. Louisville, the favorite for this year’s NCAA Men’s Basketball Champion, owns eight. Only the best for our most superflous government agencies.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs inside the Department of the Interior spent close to $15,000 for Shoot-A-Ways, in 2009 and in 2012. Salazar’s 2012 order of a Shoot-A-Way was issued to Riverside Indian School in Anadarko, Ok. That’s $5,232 in U.S. tax dollars spent on teams in 2012-2013 that went 8-12 and 4-9.

Law Schools Sued for Misleading Applicants About Job Prospects

Numerous lawsuits have been filed against law schools across the nation by former graduates who allege that the law schools deceived them about the success rates of their former students.

Five of the nearly 20 lawsuits have been filed against California schools, four of which are Southwestern, Golden Gate University, the University of San Francisco and San Diego’s Thomas Jefferson and California Western schools of law, all of which charge roughly $40,000 per year in tuition.

Some graduates have taken low-paying jobs such as working in hourly jobs in department stores and restaurants, or finding work in temporary or part-time legal positions. Southwestern Law School, for example, once asserted that 97% of its graduates found jobs within nine months of graduation.

Some of the reasons for the dearth of job prospects for newly-graduated lawyers are:

The advent of computer availability for legal work, including as substitution for law libraries, so that much work can stay in-house at firms which once farmed the work out, Internet companies that offer litigants legal documents and help, The simple staggering number of lawyers in the market. Joseph Dunn, chief executive of the State Bar of California, said, “I don’t think any of them rival the situation we are seeing today. The legal community in all 50 states is being dramatically impacted.”

Video: McDonald's Cashier Requires Bachelor's Degree, Two Years Experience

With colleges producing more graduates, and youth unemployment at a sky-high 11.5 percent, even landing a job selling Big Macs is getting competitive.

Consider: A job opening at a Massachusetts McDonald’s restaurant for a full-time cashier requires one to two years experience and a bachelor’s degree.

“Get a weekly paycheck with a side order of food, folks and fun,” offered McDonalds.

It is not clear if the fast-food restaurant really wants that kind of experience or is fishing for the highest-qualified applicants…

Strange Sleep Disorder Makes People See 'Demons'

When filmmaker Carla MacKinnon started waking up several times a week unable to move, with the sense that a disturbing presence was in the room with her, she didn’t call up her local ghost hunter. She got researching.

Now, that research is becoming a short film and multiplatform art project exploring the strange and spooky phenomenon of sleep paralysis. The film, supported by the Wellcome Trust and set to screen at the Royal College of Arts in London, will debut in May.

Sleep paralysis happens when people become conscious while their muscles remain in the ultra-relaxed state that prevents them from acting out their dreams. The experience can be quite terrifying, with many people hallucinating a malevolent presence nearby, or even an attacker suffocating them. Surveys put the number of sleep paralysis sufferers between about 5 percent and 60 percent of the population.

“I was getting quite a lot of sleep paralysis over the summer, quite frequently, and I became quite interested in what was happening, what medically or scientifically, it was all about,” MacKinnon said. [Top 10 Spooky Sleep Disorders]

Her questions led her to talk with psychologists and scientists, as well as to people who experience the phenomenon. Myths and legends about sleep paralysis persist all over the globe, from the incubus and succubus (male and female demons, respectively) of European tales to a pink dolphin-turned-nighttime seducer in Brazil. Some of the stories MacKinnon uncovered reveal why these myths are so chilling.

Go Cheek to Whisker With Carnivores at Argentina’s Lujan Zoo: Wisdom and Track Record of the Zoo is Hotly Debated

Photo Credit: Zoo De Lujan Con Las Superguias

With the weather getting warmer, it’s time to get back outside and reconnect with the wildlife—and no place will let you get closer to the wildest of wild things than Lujan Zoo in Argentina…

Located just outside Buenos Aires, Lujan Zoo provides zoogoers the opportunity to bottle feed a bear, cuddle a tiger, or rub noses with a lion, and, if these pictures are accurate, walk away un-mauled.

While many visitors assert the animals are clearly drugged, the zoo insists the tameness is entirely natural, a product of raising each cub from birth and teaching them to be calm, permissive, and uninterested in eating humans.
