‘Impeachment August’ Campaign a Dud (VIDEO)

Progressive groups were hoping to make this month “Impeachment August,” but with only 12 days to go, they are falling short of their self-stated goals.

Twelve progressive groups joined together to launch a campaign on August 1 with a goal to pressure House Democrats to come out in support of President Trump’s impeachment. While the American public remains deeply divided on impeachment, Democrats overwhelmingly support it.

The groups had planned to pressure their representatives at town halls and other public appearances after they returned to their districts for the August recess, in hopes of getting them to back impeachment if they had not done so already. . .

However — according to a recent Post piece, they have failed to convince any vulnerable Democrat freshman or any vulnerable Democrat to back impeachment. The Post reported on August 15:

The focus of ‘Impeachment August’ is on the minority of House Democrats who have not endorsed impeachment proceedings yet, with a particular goal of getting the freshmen elected in swing districts to take a firm position. So far, no swing-seat Democrat who was skeptical about impeachment before the start of the recess has been converted.

Jeffrey Epstein Found Dead; Fake News Concludes Suicide; Jail Isn’t So Sure

(Editor’s note: Restoring Liberty has been reporting on Jeffrey Epstein’s corruption of powerful politicians – both Republican and Democrat – for years. His death was almost certainly a result of the numerous politicians and others he had compromised. If you want to read more about Epstein, please follow THIS LINK)

Law Enforcement Gives Contradictory Information After Epstein Found Dead

By Lucia Sang. Disgraced multimillionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who was accused of sex trafficking minors, died from an apparent suicide inside in Manhattan jail cell and the FBI is investigating, the Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed Saturday.

The 66-year-old Epstein was found unresponsive inside his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City around 6:30 a.m. Life-saving measures were initiated immediately by responding staff. He was transported to the New York Presbyterian-Lower Manhattan Hospital and was dead on arrival, officials said.

Law enforcement sources told Fox News that the initial call to the jail was cardiac arrest. Multiple reports claimed that he hanged himself. . .

NBC News reported that Epstein was in his own cell at the time of his death and was no longer on suicide watch. (Read more about Epstein found dead HERE)

Former MCC Inmate Writes: There’s ‘no way’ Jeffrey Epstein killed himself

By Bruce Golding and Brad Hamilton. There’s no way that man could have killed himself. I’ve done too much time in those units. It’s an impossibility.

Between the floor and the ceiling is like eight or nine feet. There’s no way for you to connect to anything.

You have sheets, but they’re paper level, not strong enough. He was 200 pounds — it would never happen.

When you’re on suicide watch, they put you in this white smock, a straight jacket. They know a person cannot be injurious to themselves. . .

Could he have done it from the bed? No sir. There’s a steel frame, but you can’t move it. There’s no light fixture. There’s no bars.

They don’t give you enough in there that could successfully create an instrument of death. You want to write a letter, they give you rubber pens and maybe once a week a piece of paper. (Read more from this ex-inmate’s take on Epstein found dead HERE)

Trump Re-Tweets Theory that Epstein was Murdered While Democratic Congressman Says “A Lot of Very Powerful People Wanted to See This Man Dead”

[Trump retweeted] a message from conservative actor and comedian Terrence K. Williams, who suggested Epstein’s death might be tied to former president Bill Clinton. Williams also questioned how Epstein could have died by suicide if he had been on suicide watch. . .

A Clinton spokesman responded on Twitter: “Ridiculous, and of course not true — and Donald Trump knows it. Has he triggered the 25th Amendment yet?” The 25th Amendment spells out a process for the president’s cabinet to remove him from office. . .

Rep. Lois Frankel (D-Fla.), who has demanded congressional investigations into Epstein’s past crimes, questioned whether Epstein’s death really was a suicide Saturday, suggesting without evidence that there might be a link between his death and the powerful people he associated with.

“There are a lot of very powerful people who wanted to see this man dead. So was it really just a suicide?” Frankel told NPR. “Was it just negligence by the officials who had custody of him? I don’t know, but I definitely think it needs to be investigated.” (Read more from this Washington Post article about Epstein found dead HERE)

Government Approves Bringing Animal-Human Hybrids to Term

. . .After years of planning, the persistent researcher has at last received approval from a government willing to pursue one of the most controversial scientific studies there is: human-animal embryo experiments.

While many countries around the world have restricted, defunded or outright banned these ethically-fraught practices, Japan has now officially lifted the lid on this proverbial Pandora’s box. Earlier this year, the country made it legal to not only transplant hybrid embryos into surrogate animals, but also to bring them to term.

As a lead stem cell researcher at the University of Tokyo and Stanford University, Nakauchi has gone from country to country, chasing his dream of one day growing customised human organs in animals like sheep or pigs. . .

That ultimate goal is still a long way off, but the next step in his research has at last been given the green light by ministry officials in Japan. As the first researcher to receive government approval since the 2014 ban, Nakauchi plans on taking things slowly so that public understanding and trust can catch up. . .

The goal is for the rodent embryo to use the human cells to build itself a pancreas, and for two years, the team plans on watching these rodents develop and grow, carefully monitoring their organs and brains in the process. Only then will the researchers ask for approval to do the same with pigs. (Read more from “Government Approves Bringing Animal-Human Hybrids to Term” HERE)

Nearly Half of Americans Left Unfazed by Mueller’s Testimony

The opinions of many Americans on whether or not President Trump should be impeached remain unchanged after former special counsel Robert Mueller’s congressional testimony.

An ABC News/Ipsos poll released Sunday shows that 47% of Americans were not at all moved on the impeachment question after Mueller’s testimony. The people who were moved one way or the other were closely split at 27% more likely to support impeachment and 26% less likely. . .

Mueller testified in front of the House Judiciary and Intelligence committees Wednesday. Democrats pushed Mueller to clarify his report and his position on whether or not Trump should be charged with obstruction of justice. Republicans focused largely on why the investigation was launched and how the Russian collusion conspiracy gained so much traction.

Mueller was halting and slow throughout his testimony, often seeming unfamiliar with facts and passages in his report. He evaded answering roughly 200 questions during the nearly seven-hour affair by referring the questioner back to the report or asserting that the question was outside of his purview. Trump Is Ready to Label Antifa a Terrorist Organization

President Donald Trump took to Twitter on Saturday night to say he supports labeling Antifa a terrorist organization.

. . .

The declaration appears to come after conservative journalist Andy Ngo appeared on Fox News to discuss the Antifa attack he sustained last month. Ngo was beaten, had “milkshakes” filled with cement mixers thrown at him and his GoPro camera was stolen. He suffered a brain injury as a result of the beating.

Earlier this month, Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Bill Cassidy (R-LA) introduced legislation that would label Antifa a terrorist organization. Cruz and Cassidy’s resolution was in direct response to Antifa’s attacks on Ngo in Portland last month.

GOP Governor Who ‘Vanished for Sex’ May Run Against Trump

Mark Sanford, the former governor of South Carolina who once vanished without word to his office or family for nearly a week, is considering a primary challenge to President Trump.

His explanation for his 2009 vanishing act was that he was hiking the Appalachian trail. But it turned out he had secretly flown to Brazil to spend six days with his mistress.

The Post and Courier of Charleston, South Carolina, reports Sanford said “he will take the next month to formulate whether he will mount a potential run against Trump.”

He said a run for president would be “a way of pushing a national debate about America’s mounting debt, deficit and government spending.”

Sanford retired from Congress last year. He previously served as governor of South Carolina and was popular among Republicans nationally. (Read more from “GOP Governor Who ‘Vanished for Sex’ May Run Against Trump” HERE)

British Ambassador to U.S. Resigns After Trump’s Wrath

The British ambassador to the United States resigned Wednesday after leaked memos showed he called the Trump administration “inept.”

“Since the leak of official documents from this Embassy there has been a great deal of speculation surrounding my position and the duration of my remaining term as ambassador,” Kim Darroch said in a letter released by the Foreign Office. “I want to put an end to that speculation. The current situation is making it impossible for me to carry out my role as I would like.”

He continued: “Although my posting is not due to end until the end of this year, I believe in the current circumstances the responsible course is to allow the appointment of a new ambassador.” . .

“I have been very critical about the way the U.K. and Prime Minister Theresa May handled Brexit. What a mess she and her representatives have created. I told her how it should be done, but she decided to go another way. I do not know the Ambassador, but he is not liked or well thought of within the U.S. We will no longer deal with him,” he tweeted. “The good news for the wonderful United Kingdom is that they will soon have a new Prime Minister. While I thoroughly enjoyed the magnificent State Visit last month, it was the Queen who I was most impressed with!”

‘Impeach Trump’ Justin Amash Leaves the GOP

Michigan Rep. Justin Amash announced Thursday that he is leaving the Republican Party, saying he is disenchanted and “frightened” by party politics — a move that was quickly described as “great news” by President Trump.

Amash, a libertarian and a critic of President Trump, made the announcement in an op-ed for The Washington Post, in which he said he had once run as a Republican due to the GOP’s belief in limited government, economic freedom and individual liberty.

“In recent years, though, I’ve become disenchanted with party politics and frightened by what I see from it,” he said in the op-ed. “The two-party system has evolved into an existential threat to American principles and institutions.” . . .

Amash is the only House Republican to have called for Trump’s impeachment, and his announcement comes weeks after he resigned from the conservative House Freedom Caucus in June. Amash had said he didn’t want to be a “further distraction” for the caucus. . .

However, despite his clashes with Trump, Amash did not mention the president in his op-ed Thursday, citing instead “the consolidation of political power and near disintegration of representative democracy.” (Read more from “‘Impeach Trump’ Justin Amash Leaves the GOP” HERE)

U.S. On pace for ANOTHER Record Month in Illegal Immigration

After the new record numbers of family units coming to the border almost every month this fiscal year, some might have thought the crisis would have maxed out in April and the numbers would begin decreasing. But preliminary data from Customs and Border Protection (CBP) apprehensions so far in May show that numbers continue to skyrocket.

According to preliminary weekly data used internally by CBP and given to CR by a Border Patrol agent who must remain anonymous because he is not authorized to speak to the press, 71,834 illegal aliens were apprehended between points of entry in the state of Texas from May 1 to May 28. That works out to a daily pace of 2,565.5 per day or a flow of 936,408 annually – just in the state of Texas alone. One has to go back to fiscal year 2006 to find this level of annual apprehensions in all four border states combined.

This ensures that May will now crush April’s unfathomable numbers. The same internal, preliminary CBP data for April shows that 60,476 illegals were apprehended in Texas during an equivalent 28-day period from April 3 through April 30. That means that illegal immigration into Texas likely increased roughly 18.8 percent in May over April.

Overall, in April, almost 99,000 illegal immigrants were caught between points of entry at the entire southwestern border, in addition to roughly 10,000 inadmissible immigrants at points of entry. Given that approximately 60 percent of the aliens have been coming in through Texas and Texas’ numbers increased almost 19 percent in May, it’s likely that when the final numbers are tallied for the entire border, May will easily set another overall record. Axios is reporting that 75,000 families have arrived, absolutely blowing out the record 58,000 in April.

On Wednesday, a record 1,036 illegal immigrants came in one large group at El Paso, which is the most of any single group coming in at once. Clearly, the situation is getting worse, not better.

While the overwhelming majority of the illegal aliens hailed from the three northern triangle countries in Central America, there were also a number of people from other Latin American countries and even other parts of the world. There were 1,045 from Brazil, 1,787 from Cuba, 1,118 from Ecuador, and 1,301 from Nicaragua. This suggests that a number of people in other countries relatively close to the smuggling routes are catching on to the de facto open border for those coming in with a child.

There were also illegal aliens caught from countries of possible terror concern, including 67 from Bangladesh and 40 from Uzbekistan. Special interest aliens (SIAs) usually pay smugglers much more to get smuggled in while agents are tied down with Central American family units, so it’s very likely that the apprehension rate for those from countries of particular concern is lower.

Yesterday, Politico reported that the president would be announcing a shutoff of asylum for those who could have claimed asylum in Mexico or other countries. When reading the Immigration and Nationality Act and the UN treaty on refugees, it’s striking how they are all written in singular language referencing individuals claiming asylum. Nothing in our laws would ever define a mass cartel smuggling operation accounting for a significant percentage of a country’s population as asylum. It’s an invasion. Whether the president is prepared to treat it as such is yet to be determined, but the clock is ticking on his legacy. In 2015, when Trump referred to the border situation as making America a “dumping ground,” we were apprehending 38,000 illegal aliens per month. Now, we are seeing twice that number just in Texas alone. (For more from the author of “U.S. On pace for ANOTHER Record Month in Illegal Immigration” please click HERE)

Trump Admin Announces Rollback of Obamacare Reg That Defined Sex as Gender Identity

The Trump administration announced plans to roll back an Obamacare non-discrimination regulation that redefined discrimination “on the basis of sex” to include both gender identity and the termination of pregnancy, i.e. abortion.

In a Friday morning press call, Office of Civil Rights Director Roger Severino at the Department of Health and Human Services told reporters that the agency would move forward on reform of a rule enforcing section 1557 of Obamacare. The current regulation in question was issued during the waning months of the Obama administration in 2016, but blocked by federal judges before it could take effect.

“Plaintiffs will be forced to either violate their religious beliefs or maintain their current policies, which seem to be in direct conflict with the rule and risk the severe consequences of enforcement,” federal Judge Reed O’Connor wrote at the time.

To date, Severino explained Friday, the department during the previous and current administrations has been enjoined from enacting the Obama-era rule and now plans to replace it, bringing the department’s official enforcement mechanisms back in line with the original intent of the legislation passed by Congress.

“When Congress prohibited sex discrimination, it did so according to the plain meaning of the term, and we are making our regulations conform,” Severino explained in a statement.

“The American people want vigorous protection of civil rights and faithfulness to the text of the laws passed by their representatives,” the statement continues. “The proposed rule would accomplish both goals.”

The administration also claims that the announced rule change would come with the added benefit of saving the American taxpayer over $3 billion per year in regulatory compliance costs alone. An HHS fact sheet explains that the costs come from a part of the 2016 regulation that requires that “every significant publication in healthcare larger than a postcard sent to a member of the public” has to include a notice of non-discrimination and another notice translated into at least 15 different foreign languages.

The added postage and paper cost for those notices adds up, Severino says, but the notices have proven ineffective at their intended purpose of ensuring that people who speak other languages are more informed about health care policy.

“As a child of Hispanic immigrants, I know how vitally important it is that people receive quality healthcare services regardless of the language they speak, and this proposal grants providers the needed flexibility for achieving that goal,” Severino’s statement says, adding, “The American people are tired of unnecessary regulations getting in the way of access to affordable healthcare.”

Elsewhere in the administration, the Department of Housing and Urban Development also announced a rule change that would eliminate an Obama-era regulation transgender mandate requiring HUD homeless shelters to accommodate people based on gender identity rather than sex.

Democratic efforts to redefine sex discrimination to include gender identity and abortion protections didn’t end with the Obama administration; they’ve simply moved their fight from the executive branch to the legislative.

The Democrat-controlled House recently passed the “Equality Act,” which seeks to rewrite the definition of sex discrimination in federal civil rights law; it would also create a “a universal right to abortion, up until birth,” according to one Republican congresswoman.
