Todd Palin slams “stalker” McGinniss as having “creepy obsession” with Sarah

Todd Palin released a statement late Wednesday condemning claims author Joe McGinniss makes about former Alaska governor Sarah Palin in his upcoming book, “The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin.”

“This is a man who has been relentlessly stalking my family to the point of moving in right next door to us to harass us and spy on us to satisfy his creepy obsession with my wife,” Todd Palin said via SarahPAC’s Rebecca Mansour. “His book is full of disgusting lies, innuendo, and smears. Even The New York Times called this book ‘dated, petty,’ and that it ‘chases caustic, unsubstantiated gossip.”

In his book, McGinniss claims that Palin used cocaine, had a one night stand with retired NBA player Glen Rice, and engaged in an extramarital affair.

Meanwhile, on Facebook Wednesday night, Sarah Palin condemned President Barack Obama’s “crony capitalism” following his jobs speech, taking specific aim at Jeffrey Immelt. She made no mention of McGinniss’ book.

“President Obama has his sights set on raising $1 billion for his reelection campaign,” she wrote. “Raising that money won’t be easy. But if you can hand out other people’s money to friends, it must get a whole lot easier. This crony capitalism and government waste is at the heart of our economic problems. It will destroy us if we don’t root it out. It’s not just a Democrat problem or a Republican problem. It’s a problem of our permanent political class.”

Obama’s new effort to “monitor, hunt down, & attack critics”

By Victor Davis Hanson (Ricochet.com):

There are a lot of disturbing—and ironic—things about the new Obama effort (AttackWatch.com) to monitor, hunt down, and attack its critics. It used to be a classically liberal idea that conservatives and liberals would debate policies, put their views out, and let the public decide the validity of their positions. Supposedly disinterested newspapers would occasionally weigh in on disingenuous or especially egregious transgressions of good manners and basic professionalism

At certain times—so the liberal narrative went—this notion of an arena of ideas was perverted by the paranoid and vindictive right-wingers, like a Joe McCarthy shaking papers “with the names of known communists”, or Richard Nixon with his enemies lists.

Yet go onto the new (“Paid for by Obama for America”) AttackWatch.com website. It reads and looks like some sort of Stasi file (“file” is their vocabulary, not mine). It asks readers to inform them of criticism of Obama. The format is, I guess by intent, supposed to resemble a government intelligence dossier (“Attack files”), with its blaring black and red headers: “Attack” /”Attackers” (followed by names and pictures of the supposed bad guys)/”Attack Type” /(“public statements”) followed by check off boxes like  “Have your seen or heard this attack?” “Yes/No”. It reminds me of of living in 1973 dictatorial Greece, when we all kept silent about the Colonels upon entering the apartment building, lest the government-paid concierge write something down not nice in her black book.

Apparently no one in the administration learned from the spooky tone of the now defunct Journolist. That obtuseness begs the question, what is it with these extra-journalistic efforts to intimidate critics, as if the 2012 campaign will be based around deterrence: e.g., as if: “Beware: if you criticize Barack Obama, your name and picture will appear on our “Attack File”. We are watching you, so you watch out!”

So creepier still is the request to snoop around and collect evidence for what the Roman emperors and French monarchs used to call maiestas/Lèse-majesté—supposed crimes against the head of state, by circulating criticism of his authority that might lessen his proper sense of majesty. Indeed, on AttackWatch.com there is a special pop-up window that is reminiscent of Crimestoppers.com that supposedly will help form some sort of a clearing house: “Your email”/”content of attack or link”/”Attack type”, “Attach” with a link “Report” that pops up yet another window.

Michelle Obama shows extreme disrespect to US flag?

Here’s a link to the video: https://www.joemiller.us/2011/09/video-is-michelle-obama-disrespecting-american-flag/

By James Robbins (Washington Times):

The internet was buzzing Tuesday night with video of First Lady Michelle Obama apparently showing extreme disrespect to the American flag at a ceremony in honor of the victims of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks. As police and firefighters fold the flag to the sound of marching bagpipers, a skeptical looking Mrs. Obama leans to her husband and appears to say, “all this just for a flag.” She then purses her lips and shakes her head slightly as Mr. Obama nods.

Just for a flag? Even with all her years being around those who hold high public office Mrs. Obama does not seem to understand the purpose and importance of ceremonies. They reaffirm the bonds of loyalty and fellowship that cement our national unity. Yes, at one level a flag is just a colorful piece of cloth. But it symbolizes much more. It is the emblem of our land and all its ideals. It has been present at every major event of any importance to the country, battles, celebrations, meetings, and the lunar landings. It is a symbol of unity that transcends party, faction and time. It is something uniquely and explicitly American. Men and women have fought and died for it. Our enemies hate us for it and burn it in the streets. All that should mean something.

Imminent Financial Collapse in Europe?

By Michael Snyder (September 12, 2011):

Are we on the verge of a massive financial collapse in Europe?  Rumors of an imminent default by Greece are flying around all over the place and Greek government officials are openly admitting that they are running out of money.  Without more bailout funds it is absolutely certain that Greece will soon default on their debts.  But German officials are threatening to hold up more bailout payments until the Greeks “do what they agreed to do”.  The attitude in Germany is that the Greeks must now pay the price for going into so much debt.  Officials in the Greek government are becoming frustrated because the more austerity measures they implement, the more their economy shrinks.  As the economy shrinks, so do tax payments and the budget deficit gets even larger.  Meanwhile, hordes of very angry Greek citizens are violently protesting in the streets.  If Germany allows Greece to default, that is going to start financial dominoes tumbling around the globe and it is going to be a signal to the financial markets that there is a very real possibility that Portugal, Italy and Spain will be allowed to default as well.  Needless to say, all hell would break loose at that point.

So why is Greece so important?

Well, there are two reasons why Greece is so important.

Number one, major banks all over Europe are heavily invested in Greek debt.  Since many of those banks are also very highly leveraged, if they are forced to take huge losses on Greek debt it could wipe many of them out.

Secondly, if Greece defaults, it tells the markets that Portugal, Italy and Spain would likely not be rescued either.  It would suddenly become much, much more expensive for those countries to borrow money, which would make their already huge debt problems far worse.

If Italy or Spain were to go down, it would wipe out major banks all over the globe.

Recently, Paul Krugman of the New York Times summarized the scale of the problem the world financial system is now facing….

Financial turmoil in Europe is no longer a problem of small, peripheral economies like Greece. What’s under way right now is a full-scale market run on the much larger economies of Spain and Italy. At this point countries in crisis account for about a third of the euro area’s G.D.P., so the common European currency itself is under existential threat.

Most Americans don’t spend a lot of time thinking about the financial condition of Europe.

But they should.

Right now, the U.S. economy is really struggling to stay out of another recession.  If Europe has a financial meltdown, there is no way that the United States is going to be able to avoid another huge economic downturn.

If you think that things are bad now, just wait.  After the next major financial crisis what we are going through right now is going to look like a Sunday picnic.

The following are 20 signs of imminent financial collapse in Europe….

#1 The yield on 2 year Greek bonds is now over 60 percent.  The yield on 1 year Greek bonds is now over 110 percent.  Basically, world financial markets now fully expect that Greece will default.

#2 European bank stocks are getting absolutely killed once again today.  We have seen this happen time after time in the last few weeks.  What we are now witnessing is a clear trend.  Just like back in 2008, major banking stocks are leading the way down the financial toilet.

#3 The German government is now making preparations to bail out major German banks when Greece defaults.  Reportedly, the German government is telling banks and financial institutions to be prepared for a 50 percent “haircut” on Greek debt obligations.

#4 With thousands upon thousands of angry citizens protesting in the streets, the Greek government seems hesitant to fully implement the austerity measures that are being required of them.  But if Greece does not do what they are being told to do, Germany may withhold further aid.  German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble says that Greece is now “on a knife’s edge”.

#5 Germany is increasingly taking a hard line with Greece, and the Greeks are feeling very pushed around by the Germans at this point.  Ambrose Evans-Pritchard made this point very eloquently in a recent article for the Telegraph….

Germany’s EU commissioner Günther Oettinger said Europe should send blue helmets to take control of Greek tax collection and liquidate state assets. They had better be well armed. The headlines in the Greek press have been “Unconditional Capitulation”, and “Terrorization of Greeks”, and even “Fourth Reich”.

#6 Everyone knows that Greece simply cannot last much longer without continued bailouts.  John Mauldin explained why this is so in a recent article….

It is elementary school arithmetic. The Greek debt-to-GDP is currently at 140%. It will be close to 180% by year’s end (assuming someone gives them the money). The deficit is north of 15%. They simply cannot afford to make the interest payments. True market (not Eurozone-subsidized) interest rates on Greek short-term debt are close to 100%, as I read the press. Their long-term debt simply cannot be refinanced without Eurozone bailouts.

#7 The austerity measures that have already been implemented are causing the Greek economy to shrink rapidly.  Greek Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos has announced that the Greek government is now projecting that the economy will shrink by 5.3% in 2011.

#8 Greek Deputy Finance Minister Filippos Sachinidis says that Greece only has enough cash to continue operating until next month.

#9 Major banks in the U.S., in Japan and in Europe have a tremendous amount of exposure to Greek debt.  If they are forced to take major losses on Greek debt, quite a few major banks that are very highly leveraged could suddenly be in danger of being wiped out.

National Review Reports on Joe Miller

By Robert Costa (National Review):

Yardley, Pa.— A year ago, Joe Miller, a low-key attorney with a Chuck-Norris–style beard, was Alaska’s Republican Senate nominee, waging an uphill battle against incumbent GOP senator Lisa Murkowski, who ultimately won reelection via write-in votes. No longer in the national spotlight, Miller remains active in politics, speaking at tea-party rallies. I caught up with him in this small, suburban town, just north of Philadelphia, about an hour before he spoke at a tea-party event at a local farm, where he endorsed upstart Senate candidate Marc Scaringi, a former Rick Santorum aide, who is challenging Sen. Bob Casey (D., Pa.).

Over coffee, Miller told me that he is not ready to endorse a presidential candidate, but finds Rick Perry and Michele Bachmann near the top of his list. He also thinks that Sarah Palin, despite the buzz, will jump in. “My gut is that she’s going for it,” he says. “I know the polling data and facts on the ground may suggest otherwise, but she would be a wonderful addition to the fray. I think she would enliven the debate. She would embolden and motivate the tea-party base, bringing an outside-the-establishment perspective, which is really needed.”

Miller worries that Mitt Romney, whom he describes as a “well-organized moderate,” will potentially “split the tea-party vote” and cruise to the nomination early next year. “All in all, however, what I’m seeing from the field is encouraging,” he says. The tea-party movement, he predicts, is already playing a major role in shaping the race, keeping candidates on their toes and forcing constitutional issues to feature prominently at debates.

In coming months, expect Miller to pop up around the country. Through his political-action committee, Restoring Liberty, he will attempt to be the Last Frontier’s Jim DeMint, endorsing conservative challengers and criticizing GOP leaders, should they stray from tea-party principles.

“There are efforts to point to my race — Sharron Angle, Christine O’Donnell — and say that the Tea Party can’t be effective; that in reality, it can’t be translated into real political victory,” Miller says. “But in reality, what happened in 2010, I think, was a harbinger of what’s to come in 2012. People are waking up to what government is done, to how broken it is. That new knowledge, that education, is going to be instrumental in seeing more conservatives gain office next year.”

Obama’s Arab Spring Buddies in Libya include jihadists, al Qaeda, & other Islamists

By Bill Gertz (Washington Times):

Jihadists among the Libyan rebels revealed plans last week on the Internet to subvert the post-Moammar Gadhafi government and create an Islamist state, according to U.S. intelligence agencies.

U.S. officials said spy agencies are stepping up surveillance of Islamist-oriented elements among Libyan rebels. A government report circulated Tuesday said extremists were observed “strategizing” on Internet forums about how to set up an Islamist state in Libya after the regime of Col. Gadhafi is defeated.

“Several forum participants have suggested that, following a transitional stage, the battle should turn against secularist rebels and members of the [rebels’] Transitional National Council,” the unclassified report stated.

Some U.S. officials sought to play down the remarks by noting that such Internet postings are not always accurate measures of jihadist plans.

The report said the jihadists’ strength and influence on the ground “are uncertain at this time.”

However, the report said the jihadist plotting coincided with the high-profile emergence of Abu Abdallah al-Sadiq, a former leader of the al Qaeda-linked Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) and now a leading rebel. He is currently known as Abdel Hakim al-Khulidi Belhaj and led rebels in overrunning Col. Gadhafi’s Tripoli compound.

A U.S. official familiar with intelligence reports on the region said there are concerns that some LIFG members remain committed to al Qaeda and others may be temporarily renouncing their ties to the terrorist group for “show.”

I am a Tea Party Patriot

In recent days, freedom-loving Americans who support the Tea Party have been called racists, been told to go to hell, and have been accussed of wanting to hang blacks on trees. The mass media has contributed to this defamation, blaming the tea party for the debt downgrade, as well as many problems that plague America as they can think of.

Now, we the people of the United States of America, are speaking out. We are not terrorists, we are not racists, and we are not backing down because of threats from the media, congress, or the executive office. Watch, and discover, real American tea party patriots tell us who they are in their own words, not the words of Washington insiders and pundits.

If you are a Tea Party patriot, spread the word, and post your own video on YouTube. Tell us who you are what you stand for. Let’s show the world who tea party patriots really are. Make sure you go to each and every page and see who we are. Spread the word and share this page with your friends.

Obama Administration: Children Are ‘Sexual Beings’

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is offering advice to parents and teens about sex education, including assurances that teens may “experiment” with homosexuality as part of “exploring their own sexuality,” and that masturbation should be of concern only “if a child seems preoccupied with it to the exclusion of other activities.”

The information, located on a “Questions and Answers About Sex” link on the “Quick Guide to Healthy Living” portion of the HHS Web site, also describes children and infants as “sexual beings.”

Under the question “When Do Kids Start Becoming Curious About Sex?” the answer notes that infants have curiosity about their bodies.

“Children are human beings and therefore sexual beings,” the Q&A Web page says. “It’s hard for parents to acknowledge this, just as it’s hard for kids to think of their parents as sexually active. But even infants have curiosity about their own bodies, which is healthy and normal.”

As for masturbation and “what sort of ‘sexual’ behavior do young kids exhibit?” the page says, “Parents should only be concerned about masturbation if a child seems preoccupied with it to the exclusion of other activities. Victims of sexual abuse sometimes become preoccupied with self-stimulation.”

A link at the bottom of the Q&A page, entitled “Sexual Attraction and Orientation,” includes information on sexual experimentation, including homosexuality.

“Thinking sexually about both the same sex and the opposite sex is quite common as teens sort through their emerging sexual feelings,” the page says. “This type of imagining about people of the same or opposite sex doesn’t necessarily mean that a person fits into a particular type of sexual orientation.”

“Some teens may also experiment with sexual experiences, including those with members of the same sex, during the years they are exploring their own sexuality,” the page reads. “These experiences, by themselves, do not necessarily mean that a teen is gay or straight.”

Obama Admin. Prosecutes Peaceful 79 year old Pro-Life Protester under FACE

By Brad Mattes (LifeNews.com):

I’d like to introduce you to Richard Retta, a 79-year-old grandfather. He’s being prosecuted by President Obama’s Department of Justice (DOJ).

Richard’s crime is that he walks alongside women on the sidewalk outside a Planned Parenthood abortion mill. He gently offers them hope that they can carry their babies to full term and save these innocent children from the deadly claws of the abortion industry.

For the first time in over a decade, Richard is being sued for obstruction. The DOJ claims that his actions violate the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, which Congress enacted in 1994. He now faces a $10,000 civil penalty for “violating” FACE and another $15,000 in fines to alleged victims. We predicted then that the FACE Act would ultimately be used to prosecute law abiding pro-life advocates.

Never mind that this statute permits him to walk besides women coming to or going from a so-called “clinic” like Planned Parenthood. Furthermore, the FACE Act forbids only physical obstruction, intimidation, or the use of force. It actually goes so far as to specifically protect Richard’s actions; namely, “any expressive conduct (including peaceful picketing or other peaceful demonstration).”

The handling of Richard Retta by the DOJ is a stark contrast to their dismissal of a recent New Black Panther voter-obstruction case in 2008. The pro-abortion Justice Department—an irony in itself—appears to consider peaceful sidewalk counselors more of a physical threat than men armed with night sticks who intimidate voters outside a polling place.

Despite the DOJ’s efforts to silence sidewalk counselors like Richard with misconduct allegations, the work of these good people cannot go unnoticed. Along with other volunteers, Richard’s faithful stand for life and hope is estimated to have helped over 1,300 women change their minds about aborting their babies. He and the many other pro-lifers who stand in the gap to protect America’s unborn children and their mothers deserve our gratitude, not political harassment.

Maxine Waters: ‘The tea party can go straight to hell’

(by The Dailey Caller):  So much for dialing back the rhetoric, right?

On Saturday in Inglewood, Calif., Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters had some harsh words for the tea party.

“I’m not afraid of anybody,” the California congresswoman told constituents in footage that appeared on ABC affiliate KABC in Los Angeles, not backing down from comments made about President Obama earlier in the week. “This is a tough game. You can’t be intimidated. You can’t be frightened. And as far as I’m concerned — the tea party can go straight to hell.” (RELATED: House ethics committee hires outside counsel for Waters case)

That proclamation was met with cheers from the audience, including attendees sporting purple SEIU T-shirts.
