George Mason University students were shocked that President Donald Trump attempted to make compromises with Democrats to get the border wall built, as shown on a video from CampusReform.org posted Friday.
Cabot Phillips, the media director for CampusReform, went to the campus recently to talk to students. He asked them who they blamed the government shutdown on. All of the students in the video said Trump. . .
Phillips then asked students if Democrats should consider Trump’s offer for a wall if he agreed to provide protections for DREAMers, put 800 million dollars into humanitarian aid and increase funding for immigration judges to tackle the backlog of immigration cases. All of the students agreed.
Phillips then revealed that Trump made those offers to Democrats, and the students were stunned that Democrats didn’t take the deal into consideration. Many of them uttered laughs of shock and disbelief when they heard the truth. . .

Things got a little heated on the Senate floor Thursday afternoon as the chamber prepared to vote on two contrasting plans to end the partial government shutdown (both of which ultimately failed).
It all began with remarks from Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, making the case for passing a measure to pay members of the Coast Guard.
Sen. Michael Bennett, D-Colo., responded with a floor speech in which he likened Cruz’s concerns to “crocodile tears” and lambasted Republicans for partially shutting down the federal government over funding for what he called a “medieval wall.”

https://youtu.be/1LlCn-HZDuYSen. Ted Cruz, however, was not about to take Bennett’s rant lying down. He fired back with a passionate rebuttal, seizing on Bennet’s use of the word “medieval.”
“I find it amusing a new adjective has creeped in,” Cruz responded. “It’s medieval wall. “I don’t know if there’s something in there that has a moat and has catapults and they’re throwing burning tar. Medieval wall now.”
“It does raise the question,” Cruz continued. “If walls are medieval, why did the senator from Colorado and every other Democrat in 2013 vote for 350 miles of medieval wall? To the extent walls are medieval, they were presumably were medieval in 2013 just as much as they are now.”
For reference, Senate Democrats not only voted for physical border security, but also to axe chain migration and the visa lottery back in 2013.
But Cruz wasn’t finished. He went on to call out Bennet, who does not represent a border state, for taking to the Senate floor to lecture his colleagues “about what it’s like on the border and what works securing the border.”

A handful of Republican senators are trying to make it easier for hunters and recreational shooters to get equipment to better protect their hearing, but don’t expect the anti-gun crowd to go along with it.
On Thursday, GOP Sens. Mike Lee, Utah, John Cornyn, Texas, Rand Paul, Ky., James Risch, Id., and Mike Crapo, Id., introduced the “Silencers Helping Us Save Hearing Act of 2019,” which would “ensure the elimination of all federal regulations of suppressors.”
“Suppressors can make shooting safer for the millions of hunters and sportsmen that exercise their constitutional right to use firearms every year,” reads a statement from Lee’s office. “The current process for obtaining a suppressor is far too expensive and burdensome. Our bill would remove these unnecessary federal regulations and make it easier for firearms users to protect themselves.”
Given that there aren’t 60 Republicans to prevent a filibuster on this and the House speaker’s gavel is currently held by the vehemently anti-gun Nancy Pelosi, this legislation realistically has less than a snowball’s chance of making it to the president’s desk during this session of Congress.
But bills like this also spark conversations and debates to move cultural needle on an issue. And there’s a lot of complete misinformation out there about suppressors.
Suppressors, colloquially referred to as “silencers,” are non-lethal gun accessories that lower the volume of a gunshot, which, the press release notes, goes from around the level of an airplane takeoff to that of a running chainsaw.
If it’s been said once, it’s been said a thousand times, the term “silencer” is a gross and widespread misnomer. Suppressors don’t silence guns at all. They simply suppress the sound; hence the term. Don’t believe everything you see in movies. These devices aren’t as good at creating the kind of muffled “pew pew” sound that an international spy would need to discreetly assassinate someone outside a European cafe in broad daylight as Hollywood and the anti-gun lobby might lead you to believe. But they’re great at mitigating hearing damage for hunters and sportsmen who shoot on a regular basis.

Despite this reality, suppressors are regulated much in the same way that fully automatic machine guns and short-barreled shotguns are. This means that there’s an extensive, expensive, and bureaucratic process to get hold of one legally. That process is what this bill is trying to end. By The Blaze. President Donald Trump is planning to declare a national emergency at the border and use the powers from such a declaration to order the construction of a border wall, according to a draft of the order published by CNN. . .
“The massive amount of aliens who unlawfully enter the United States each day is a direct threat to the safety and security of our nation and constitutes a national emergency,” reads the draft order.
“Now, therefore, I, Donald J. Trump, by the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C 1601, et seq.), hereby declare that a national emergency exists at the southern border of the United States,” the draft says.
Critics of the president have warned that if he were to take such an action that it would likely be met with legal challenges. Even some Republicans have cautioned against using the emergency powers of the executive in this manner.

Trump Issues New Position on Border Wall as Congress Debates Deal to End Shutdown
By The Blaze. President Donald Trump signaled Thursday that he was willing to make a concession to Democrats on funding for his border wall in order to strike a deal and reopen the government.
The government has been partially shut down for 34 days, and is affecting about 800,000 federal employees directly.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders indicated that the president was willing to accept less than the $5.7 billion for border wall funding in a continuing resolution deal, as long as it contained a “down payment” for the wall.
Trump then addressed reporters on negotiations between Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) to reopen the government on a continuing budget resolution.

A Missouri gym owner reportedly told an Army veteran that his “racist” pro-Trump t-shirt was not to be worn in her gym, because she stands for “tolerance.”
Staff Sgt. Jake Talbot posted a short video to Facebook on Sunday recalling the incident. “The owner, Liz, came up to me and said that the Trump shirt I had on was offensive and said I needed to remove it in order to work out there, and that it is linked to racism,” Talbot said. “I hate the word, its used way too loosely. It’s 2019, get the hell over it, it’s not racism.” . . .
The gym owner, identified as Liz Drew by The Washington Post, told KMOV4 that she approached Talbot because the Trump shirt “made several members uncomfortable.”
Drew released a statement to the gym’s Facebook page, which appears to have been removed from Facebook.
“I am deeply saddened by the amount of hate this event has garnered,” the statement said, as reported by KMOV4. “I will personally and publicly continue to defend my stance for tolerance and against hate no matter the financial consequence… Allow me to clarify. I don’t believe our gym should be a political forum for anyone. I want everyone to feel safe and comfortable there. In yet another confirmation of Iran’s blatant violation of the terms of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), which is committed to translating into English otherwise-hidden primary source material from the Arab and Muslim world, has reported that the terrorist regime in Tehran secretly purchased replacements for its nuclear infrastructure that the nuclear deal had otherwise required it to destroy. Per MEMRI:
Ali Akbar Salehi, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, was interviewed on Channel 4 TV (Iran) on January 22, 2019. He said that the negotiations surrounding the JCPOA had required Iran to destroy the Arak reactor’s calandria by filling it with cement, but that Iran had secretly acquired replacement tubes ahead of time so that the reactor’s functionality would not be ultimately affected. He also said that pictures that had circulated that showed the Arak reactor’s pit filled with cement had been photoshopped. He explained that Iran has no intention to build a nuclear weapon, and that the Arak reactor is nonetheless incapable of producing weapons-grade plutonium. In addition, Salehi said that the yellowcake production facilities in Ardakan are operational and that Iran has been authorized to produce two additional IR-8 centrifuges. Salehi added that Iran has advanced rapidly in the field of nuclear propulsion.

. . .All I can say is…when the changing of the guard happens, and Democrats nominate someone, Republicans should no zero reservations if they want to wage a slash and burn campaign. It may be sad. A freshman Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee told constituents the panel will “likely” investigate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh for purportedly committing perjury during his confirmation hearings last fall.
In a video sent out by conservative activist group America Rising, Rep. Joe Neguse, D-Colo., was recorded Friday saying he believes the Supreme Court justice committed perjury while under questioning from Congress — though did not point to a specific statement.
“There’s no question [Kavanaugh] committed perjury during the confirmation hearings and so forth,” Neguse said, responding to a question about the possibility of impeaching Kavanaugh. “I think the Judiciary Committee is likely to take that up.”

John Kerry is spending a lot of time in foreign countries these days actively agitating against the president of the United States.
So it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that at the annual World Economic Forum in Davos on Tuesday, the former secretary of state called on President Trump to resign from office.
Asked whether he would have any words of advice for the president if he had the opportunity to talk to him directly, Kerry responded:
“I can’t play that. I just — I would — but I know that — you see, because he doesn’t take any of this seriously. He doesn’t have the ability to have that kind of conversation,” Kerry started, before concluding that he would tell the president: “Resign.”
Earlier in the conversation, the Obama administration official claimed that “people will die” because the Trump administration pulled out of the Paris climate accords, a decision that saved the American taxpayer hundreds of billions of dollars.
“People will die because of the president’s decision,” Kerry said at a “The Future of Our Oceans” panel.
This is far from the first time that John Kerry has registered his displeasure with the president. In fact, Kerry has frequently attempted to foil this administration’s American foreign policy. In the past year, Kerry has advised rogue adversarial regimes on how to get the best of the Trump administration
In September, Kerry was spotted in Europe advising representatives from the terrorist regime in Iran on how to thwart U.S. sanctions. President Trump condemned the disgraced former secretary of state, describing his actions as “illegal.”
Last year, the former secretary of state was advising Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on how to thwart President Trump’s Middle East initiatives.

By Daily Wire. On Saturday, a video went viral, seemingly showing a group of Catholic high school students confronting and harassing a Native American protester who appeared to be peacefully playing a drum, but by Saturday night it was clear the confrontation wasn’t the end of the story.
The three-minute video was posted online by a group of Native American protesters who claimed they were harassed and intimidated by a group of Covington Catholic High School students waiting for their bus near the Lincoln Memorial. The video is heavily clipped at the beginning and end, and shows only an apparent “confrontation” between a protester named Nathan Phillips and a Make America Great Again-hat wearing teen. . .
He and others accused the teens of chanting “build the wall” and hurling racial epithets at the group of Native Americans. Phillips said that the MAGA-hat wearing student closest to him taunted him — an assessment that was immediately adopted by most commentators, who compared the student to a white student taunting black customers at a Civil Rights lunch counter, and in some cases, even threatened the student outright.
Saturday night, a two-hour long, full video of the confrontation became widely available on social media, and that video shows a very different interaction than the one initally portrayed. The video, taken from the point of view of a second group of protesters who witnessed the interaction, shows that Phillips approached the teens — not the other way around, as Phillips claims — and that the teens were relatively peaceful during the incident, laughing and clapping along with Phillips’ drumming, and occasionally asking questions like, “what is going on here?”

Phillips and the students chanted together for a few minutes before the students appear to lose interest and filter away. During that time, though, Phillips claims he felt threatened, though separate videos seem to show that a handful of Native American protesters were taunting the students with racially tinged chants.

The Real Story Behind Native American Protest Revealed
By The Daily Caller. Catholic high school boys in MAGA hats became the villains in a weekend viral video storm that left out context and facts to drive a narrative — and media outlets were quick to promote the story without digging further.
The New York Times published an article titled “Boys in ‘Make America Great Again’ Hats Mob Native American Elder at Indigenous People’s March,” and multiple other outlets framed the story in the same way.
But as multiple sources began to provide context — background information and additional videos — the original story began to take on an entirely different shape. The boys, who certainly might have handled the situation better, were surrounded by adults who also might have done the same, and the media chose to report only one side of that story. . .
Although the posted videos did not include any of these things, it was reported that the person who took the video had heard the boys chanting “build the wall and other Trumpisms” and claimed that the boys were just looking for “ANY opportunity to get violent.”
All accounts and videos were in agreement on at least a few key points — namely that at one point, for at least a short time, Phillips and the others in his small group were more or less surrounded by the group of boys. By The Blaze. Police say that a tip led them to arrest an illegal alien as a suspect in four murders in Nevada that have stunned the community.
Wilbur Ernesto Martinez Guzman was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property and immigration law violations, but police say they are confident that he is connected to the murders.
The first two victims were found in their homes shot to death within four days of each other. The two women were 56 year-old Connie Koontz and 74 year-old Sophia Renken.
Two other victims were found killed in a similar fashion, and both aged 81 years old. They were identified as Gerald David and Sharon David.

Suspect Jailed in Connection With String of 4 Killings in Northern Nevada That Put Residents on Edge
By The Nevada Independent. Authorities say they have arrested a man they believe is connected to four killings that have shaken Northern Nevada and put residents on edge over the past two weeks.
Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam says Wilbur Ernesto Martinez Guzman, a Carson City resident who is either 19 or 20, was taken into custody Saturday afternoon on suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property and immigration law violations. He’s being held in the Carson City Detention Center under 24-hour watch from medical and mental health personnel. . .
The killings began in Gardnerville, the Douglas County community about 50 miles from Reno, when two women, Connie Koontz, 56, and Sophia Renken, 74, were killed inside their homes earlier this month only miles apart. The two victims were found Jan. 10 and Jan. 13 — within four days of each other.
They later learned from immigration officials that Martinez Guzman was likely in the country illegally and could be detained on those grounds. Furlong said activities that raised concern for public safety prompted immigration officials and Carson City deputies to take him into custody Saturday afternoon a few blocks south of the state capitol.
