Listen to Muslim Call to Prayer at Duke University (+video)

Every Friday at 1 p.m. for three minutes, the Muslim call to prayer (played in the video below) will be blasted throughout campus on Duke University’s PA system. [Editor’s note: please see the update to this story HERE]

Duke, founded as an explicitly Christian college, is doing this under the guise of “religious pluralism.” But this is the same university that actually tried to cancel a pro-life event at their women’s center not so long ago.

After the Muslim call to prayer, how about having evangelical students get on the PA and quote John 3:16? Probably won’t happen. . .

Listen to the Muslim call to prayer to be broadcast throughout Duke University and this great exchange between Dallas Pastor Robert Jeffress and Fox News.

Fox Host Declares He is an Islamophobe

On Monday, Bob Beckel, a liberal member of Fox’s, The Five, declared on air that he is a proud Islamophobe.

The hosts of the show began to criticize the Muslim community for their refusal to condemn the terrorists who attacked Charlie Hebdo’s office and the kosher grocery store in Paris.

“If you say, ‘It’s not Islamic terror,’ then when we kill terrorists, or I talk about terrorism, or we talk about terrorists, it’s not about Islam,” co-host Greg Gutfeld said. “You can’t accuse me of Islamophobia anymore if it’s not about Islam.”

“I just wrote a piece for USA Today that’ll be in next week. It said, ‘I’m an Islamophobe,’” Beckel chimed in later. “That’s right, you can call me that all you want.” (Read more about the self-proclaimed Islamophobe HERE)

Is Islamophobia a Myth?

By Brendan O’Neill. . . Across Europe, among the right-thinking sections of society, among the political classes, the response to the massacre of the cartoonists and satirists has been the same: to panic about how Them, the native masses, especially the more right-wing sections of the French population, might respond to it. The blood on the floor of the Charlie Hebdo offices was still wet when brow-furrowed observers started saying: “Oh no, the Muslims! Will they be attacked?” It’s the same after every terrorist attack: from 9/11 to 7/7 in London to last year’s Sydney siege to Paris today: Liberals’ instant, almost Pavlovian response to Islamist terror attacks in the West is to worry about a violent uprising of the ill-educated against Muslims. The uprising never comes, but that doesn’t halt their fantasy fears. What’s it all about?

. . .Islamophobia is a myth. Sure, some folks in Europe and elsewhere no doubt dislike Muslims, just as other losers hate the Irish or blacks or women. But the idea that there is a climate of Islamophobia, a culture of hot-headed, violent-minded hatred for Muslims that could be awoken and unleashed by the next terror attack, is an invention. Islamophobia is a code word for mainstream European elites’ fear of their own populations, of their native hordes, whom they imagine to be unenlightened, prejudiced, easily led by the tabloid media, and given to outbursts of spite and violence. The thing that keeps the Islamophobia panic alive is not actual violence against Muslims but the right-on politicos’ ill-founded yet deeply held view of ordinary Europeans, especially those of a working-class variety, as racist and stupid. This is the terrible irony of the Islamophobia panic: The fearers of anti-Muslim violence claim to be challenging prejudice but actually they reveal their own prejudices, their distrust of and disdain for those who come from the other side of the tracks, read different newspapers, hold different beliefs, live different lives. They accuse stupid white communities of viewing Muslims as an indistinguishable mob who threaten the fabric of European society, which is exactly what they think of stupid white communities. Watch: Disney Cruise Line Rescues Man at Sea, All Caught on Video

A man who fell overboard from a Royal Caribbean cruise ship off the coast of Cozumel, Mexico, was rescued hours later by a passing Disney Cruise Line ship after a passenger heard him calling for help, ABC News reported on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old man, who was not identified by authorities, somehow fell off the Royal Caribbean ship during the early-morning hours of Jan. 8, according to ABC.

Scott Campbell, a passenger on the Disney Cruise Line, told ABC that he was on his balcony with his daughter at about 6:30 a.m. when he heard the man calling for help.

“I’ll never forget the scream, ‘Somebody help me,'” Campbell told the network.

A Disney spokeswoman confirmed that the Disney Magic cruise ship picked up a passenger who had fallen overboard from another cruise ship on Jan. 8 but declined further comment. (Read more about the man rescued by Disney cruise line HERE)

As New Video Emerges of Brutal Attacks, Obama Doubles-Down in Refusing to Describe Paris Attacks as ‘Islamic Terrorism’

Photo Credit: Breitbart By Charlie Spiering. Press Secretary Josh Earnest defended President Obama and White House officials for refusing to describe the terrorist attacks in Paris as a consequence of radical Islamic terrorism.

Earnest explained to White House reporters during the press briefing that this is a question of “accuracy.”

“We want to describe exactly what happened. These are individuals who carried out an act of terrorism, and they later tried to justify that act of terrorism by invoking the religion of Islam in their own deviant view of it,” he said.

Critics of Obama have questioned his refusal to identify the terrorist actions as an act of radical Islamic terrorism. (Read more from this story HERE)

Surviving Staff of Charlie Hebdo Publishes Defiant Issue TODAY

By Fran Blandy. The surviving staff of Charlie Hebdo will publish a defiant issue with a Prophet Mohammed cartoon on the cover Wednesday, a week after jihadist gunmen killed 12 people at the satirical weekly’s Paris office.

France’s Prime Minister Manuel Valls on Tuesday declared a “war against terrorism” and, amid a national outpouring of emotion, a packed parliament sang a stirring rendition of the national “Marseillaise” anthem, a first since the end of World War I.

The special sitting came after President Francois Hollande led a solemn ceremony paying tribute to three police officers killed in France’s bloodiest week in decades, while four Jews who were shot dead in one of the attacks in Paris were laid to rest in Israel.

“Our great and beautiful France will never break, will never yield, never bend” in the face of the Islamist threat that is “still there, inside and outside” the country, Hollande told weeping families and uniformed colleagues at the ceremony. (Read more from this story HERE)

Feds: Cincinnati Bartender Plotted to Kill John Boehner

Ebola, evil voices and the devil.

Those are just a few of the things a Butler County bartender cited as reasons he was going to kill House Speaker John Boehner this past fall, federal agents said.

Michael Robert Hoyt, 44, was indicted Jan. 7 on charges of threatening to murder the congressman in a plot authorities said included poisoning his drink at a country club.

Hoyt served drinks to Boehner for more than five years at the Wetherington Country Club in West Chester and was known as “Bartender Mike” to employees there.

Hoyt called police on Oct. 29, a week after being fired from the club, and blamed Boehner for his woes, police said. (Read more about the bartender who plotted to kill John Boehner HERE)

Rand Paul on Mitt Romney’s 2016 Run: ‘It’s Time for Some Fresh Blood’ (+video)

Photo Credit: Getty Images Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney doesn’t have the support of Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul as he explores a presidential bid.

In an exclusive interview with The Daily Signal today, Paul dismissed Romney’s possible third run and said that Romney had previously failed to “attract a big enough constituency to win.”

“I think he’s had his chance,” Paul said, “and I think it’s time for some fresh blood.”

Romney won the Republican presidential nomination in 2012 but lost to President Barack Obama in the general election. (Read more on what Rand Paul says about the 2016 run HERE)

Boy Gets 3D Printed ‘Storm Trooper’ Prosthetic Arm (+video)

By Alex Heigl. Liam Porter is 7 years old. He lives in Augusta, Georgia, and recently, he got a new arm.

Born without part of his left arm, Porter had a traditional prosthetic when he was younger, but his mom Ryan told the The Augusta Chronicle that it was cumbersome for a growing boy.

“It didn’t really move,” she said. “So to a little kid, it was nothing but dead weight. He did a lot without it.”

His new arm, though, is an improvement in every way.

Not only is it lighter and easier to move, it’s also aesthetically modeled after the armor worn by the Imperial Stormtroopers in Star Wars. (Read more about the boy who received the 3D printed prosthetic arm HERE)

Russian Battle Robots Near Testing for Military Use

By The Moscow Times. Machine-gun wielding battle robots are going to be tested in Russia’s Astrakhan region for use by the country’s Strategic Missile Forces, the Interfax news agency reported Friday.

Major Dmitry Andreyev, a representative for the Defense Ministry’s Strategic Missile Forces, was cited as saying that preparation for the testing is currently in its final stage.

The trials will be focused on “exploring mobile and stationary robotic systems, including those that are responsible for the formulation of remote-controlled means of stealth technology and signaling,” Andreyev said. (Read more from this story HERE)

Hilarious: Robbery Suspect Caught After Shooting Himself in the Leg (+video)

Friday apparently was burglary-spree day for Bradley Parrish, 25, and David Dempsey, 27.

They reportedly robbed a Comfort Inn and a Holiday Inn, tried to rob a Checkers in North Augusta, South Carolina, and then made their way to a Quality Inn in Aiken . . .

Dempsey allegedly was seen on surveillance video entering the hotel lobby about 10:30 p.m. and talking to the front-desk attendant.

All of a sudden he goes, ‘Give me all your money,’ so I started pulling out bills and everything,” Pat Coats told WRDW-TV, adding that Dempsey had a gun and was waving it around . . .

Dempsey started to walk away with nearly $300 — but was stopped in his tracks by his own firearm. (Read more about the robbery suspect caught after he shot himself HERE)

The Last Tempation of Mitt

By McKay Coppins. It wasn’t long after Mitt Romney tottered off the national stage in November, 2012, bringing an end — it seemed — to the long, tragic story of his political career, when Spencer Zwick started getting phone calls from conservative millionaires who were clamoring for one last sequel.

Zwick, the square-jawed finance wunderkind who masterminded the candidate’s phenomenally successful fundraising operation in 2012, had returned after the election to the private equity firm he co-founded with Romney’s son, Tagg — but Mitt’s network of GOP money men wouldn’t stop hounding him. Inside Solamere Capital’s pristine, white-walled offices on Boston’s trendy Newbury Street, Zwick often found himself on the phone with major Republican fundraisers, bundlers, and donors putting the same questions to him.

“I got calls from people every day asking, ‘Do you think he’ll do it? How can we convince him to do it?’” Zwick said in an interview with BuzzFeed News.

With Friday’s news that Romney told a group of donors he was now actively considering a third presidential bid in 2016, it appears the boosters have gotten through. “Everybody in here can go tell your friends that I’m considering a run,” the former candidate told the gathering in midtown Manhattan, according to Politico. But insiders who spoke to BuzzFeed News about Romney’s evolution on the 2016 question said he only began to entertain the possibility recently, and that he still needs to weigh a number of factors — including Jeb Bush’s electability — before he decides to take the plunge. Martin Dempsey: ISIS Will ‘Collapse Under It’s Own Contradictions’

By Greg Richter. While the United States is committed to defeating the Islamic State (ISIS or ISIL) and other terrorist groups, General Martin Dempsy, current chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said eventually ISIS will collapse on its own.

In a pre-taped interview that aired on “Fox News Sunday,” Dempsey said he has long maintained that a group that embraces radical ideology has to maintain momentum to succeed.

The United States has destroyed a lot of their equipment and reversed some of their territorial gains and has had an impact on their leadership and command and control, Dempsey said, but added, “What will eventually cause the defeat of ISIL is that it will collapse under its own contradictions, frankly. When the populations in which it tries to maneuver realize that that ideology is not to their future benefit.” (Read more from this story HERE)
