It wasn’t exactly the roaring, adoring, campaign-style crowd President Barack Obama is accustomed to.

On Tuesday, the president spoke to the American Legion’s national convention, facing a crowd of veterans deeply concerned about widespread corruption at the Veterans Administration and the resultant deaths of some veterans awaiting health care.

So when Obama began by lecturing the veterans about cynicism and explaining his most recent foreign policy choices — instead of addressing the VA crisis — the audience clearly wasn’t pleased.

KARL ROVE: I think he did something of a good job. We have two narratives here. One narrative emerging from the black community that the police killed a young black man who was approaching with his arms up, saying don’t shoot. We have a second narrative which is we have a young – a violent young black man who assaulted a police officer and the police officer felt threatened. We won’t know until the justice system works its way through which narrative is correct. I think Holder did a good thing by going to the community and saying, as a chief law enforcement officer in the country, I understand where you’re coming from because I have felt racial prejudice in my own life, even when I was a prosecutor.

WATCH: Gaza Children Cheer for Rockets to Hit America

The terrorist group Hamas fired at least 117 rockets into Israel Sunday, CNN reported, as violence there escalated again. But major U.S. media have censored Palestinian’s anti-American reaction to this ongoing attack on an ally. In one Al Jazeera America video, children cheered on the rockets, wishing they would land in the United States.

For Al Jazeera’s “America Tonight,” foreign correspondent Nick Schifrin reported during an older segment entitled “Israel invades Gaza” on July 17. “Palestinian fighters fire a barrage of rockets,” he noted, with two flying towards Tel Aviv. As the camera focused on children clapping and cheering, Schifrin translated, “They tell me they hope they land not on Israel, but in the United States.

If You Want To Stop ISIS, Here Is What It Will Take

The Islamic State’ video-dissemination of one of its goons beheading an American is an existential challenge from which we cannot afford to shrink. Until the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS) did that, it made sense for the U.S. government to help contain it because the Islamic world, which the IS threatens most directly, must destroy it sooner or later. But internetting that beheading was a gory declaration of America’s impotence—a dare-by-deed that is sure to move countless young persons around the globe to get in on killing us, anywhere they can. The longer the Islamic State survives, the more will take up its dare. Either we kill the IS, or we will deserve the wave of terrorism that will engulf us.

Killing the IS requires neither more nor less than waging war—not as the former administration waged its “war on terror,” nor by the current administration’s pinpricks, nor according to the too-clever-by-half stratagems taught in today’s politically correct military war colleges, but rather by war in the dictionary meaning of the word. To make war is to kill the spirit as well as the body of the enemy, so terribly as to make sure that it will not rise again, and that nobody will want to imitate it.

That requires first isolating the Islamic State politically and physically to deprive all within it of the capacity to make war, and even to eat. Then it requires killing all who bear arms and all who are near them.

Why It’s Now Our Business

The Islamic State is a lot more than a bunch of religious extremists. Its diverse composition as well as its friends and enemies in the region define its strength and its vulnerabilities. Its dependence on outside resources, its proximity to countries with the capacity and incentive to strike serious blows, and its desert location, make its destruction possible with little U.S. involvement on the ground, and providing the United States uses its economic and diplomatic power in a decisive manner.

Rep. Mike Rogers (R.-Mich.), the chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” today that the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) is “one plane ticket away from U.S. shores” and that terrorists carrying European passports could get into the United States without a visa.

“Oh, it’s a very real threat,” Rogers said of the threat to the United States from ISIS.

“You saw the very barbaric behavior,” he said. “And one of the problems is it’s gone unabated for nearly two years, and that draws people from Britain to across Europe, even the United States, to go and join the fight. They see that as a winning ideology, a winning strategy, and they want to be a part of it. And that’s what makes it so dangerous. They are one plane ticket away from U.S. shores. And that’s why we’re so concerned about it.”

Host Chris Jansing asked: “But we’ve heard the Pentagon say that, right now, they are not in a position to launch an attack on the United States. Is there any credible intelligence that ISIS is either planning that or has the capability to do it?

“Well, I’m going to dispute that,” said Rogers. “So we know that, and the number 2,000 of Westerners with Western passports is low. Intelligence has a very different number and it’s much higher than that. And the very fight between Al Qaeda [and ISIS} that allowed ISIS to separate from Al Qaeda in Syria was the fact that they wanted to conduct Western-style operations.

Graham: ‘Gold Medal Will Be Awarded to the Group That Can Hit America’

ISIS/ISIL is competing with other jihadist groups for money and recruits, and “the gold medal will be awarded to the group that can hit America,” Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) warned on Sunday.

“It’s about time now to assume the worst about these guys, rather than underestimating them. They’re not the J.V. team anymore,” Graham told CNN’s “State of the Union” with Candy Crowley. “They’re the most prominent terrorist organization in the world, but they’re not the only one. They’re in competition with the other jihadist groups.

“And the gold medal will be awarded to the group that can hit America. They’re fighting for status with al Qaeda, al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, al-Nusra. All of these guys are bidding for future recruits and status, and the gold medal goes to the one that can hit us here at home. To those who underestimate this threat, you do so at America’s peril.”

Graham said President Obama needs to change his strategy, because “what he’s doing now is not working.”

Sen. Inhofe: ISIS Developing Plan to Blow Up Major US City

The administration can deny that the Islamic State (ISIS) is not at war with America all it wants, but their rhetoric, numerous threats, and recent beheading of an American journalist suggest otherwise. And according to one senator, they’re already developing a plan to blow up a major U.S. city.

It is a serious warning coming from Oklahoma Senator Jim Inhofe as he warns of the potential of another attack on American soil. The senator sat down with Fox 25 to talk about a variety of topics, but as ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, the top issue was national security.

“We’re in the most dangerous position we’ve ever been in as a nation,” Senator Inhofe told Fox 25’s Phil Cross.

“ISIS, they are really bad terrorists, they’re so bad even Al Qaida is afraid of them,” Inhofe said reflecting on the recent beheading of American journalist James Foley. Beyond the beheading, Inhofe said the current terror organizations are not going to stay contained to the Middle East. “They’re crazy out there and they’re rapidly developing a method of blowing up a major U.S. city and people just can’t believe that’s happening.”

FBI chief calls Islamic terror group ‘savages’

Islamic State extremists who executed journalist James Foley are “savages” who must be brought to justice, said FBI Director James Comey, whose agents are directly involved in the investigation into the killing.

Comey said his agency had been investigating Foley’s kidnapping for two years until Tuesday, when the militants released a video showing his beheading in Syria. They also threatened to kill a second hostage, Steven Sotloff, if U.S. airstrikes against the militants in Iraq continued.

“These savages have turned it into a homicide investigation,” Comey said, speaking to reporters during a visit to the FBI’s Denver field office. “I’m highly confident the U.S. government will bring justice to these people. We are very patient and dogged, and we will never forget.”

Comey wouldn’t say whether authorities have determined when the video of Foley’s killing was taken. But he said it underscores the urgent danger posed by the extremists in Syria, which he said has become a “safe haven and training ground” for terrorists from Western Europe, North America and elsewhere.

“Their going there is very worrisome. They will come out with the worst kind of relationships and the worst kind of training,” Comey said. Of the Islamic State extremists, he added, “We’re up against savages. These are people who make ordinary terrorists look civilized.”

Obama: “No God Would Stand For What [ISIL] Did Yesterday”

Speaking from Martha’s Vineyard on Wednesday, President Obama delivered a somber yet moving speech eulogizing the life of the late American journalist James Wright Foley, who U.S. intelligence officials confirmed today was beheaded by ISIL.

“Jim was taken from us in an act of violence that shocks the conscience of the civilized world,” the president said before eviscerating the evil and gruesome tactics of his killers.

“Let’s be clear about ISIL,” he said. “They have rampaged across cities and villages killing innocent civilians.”

“They’ve murdered Muslims [by] the thousands,” he continued. “They target Christians and religious minorities, driving them from their homes whenever they can.”

Obama’s Deputies Release 169 Foreign Killers Into US Neighborhoods (+video)

President Barack Obama’s deputies released at least 169 foreign murderers into 24 states last year.

The data shows the ZIP codes where the foreign murderers were released back into American society.

Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley dragged the data out of the federal government. ”The public needs to know when a person is in the country illegally, and who has been convicted of a homicide, is released into their communities,” Grassley said in a statement.

“We’ve introduced legislation that would reverse the court case that the Obama administration is relying on to excuse its irresponsible release of thousands of criminally convicted aliens,” he added.

Grassley fought for the data after Obama’s deputies at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement freed 36,007 aliens — usually illegal immigrants — last year.

The official jail-break included 193 people convicted on homicide charges. But the feds provided Grassley with information on only 169 released murderers.

Scarborough said this morning, according to The Daily Caller:

“And so they are negotiating with Spock with a pitching wedge here,” he quipped, referencing the emotionless alien from Star Trek. “No, they really are. He is Spock. And I’m sure there may be one or two terrorists over in Syria looking at him going, ‘Wow, that’s one cold bastard.’”

The chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, was on Fusion’s America With Jorge Ramos when she was asked about immigration reform. DWS, as usual, had some interesting thoughts on the subject.

Wasserman Schultz says that illegal immigrants are the “backbone of the economy”, which means she must not think very highly of American workers or even legal immigrants. Schultz also says there hasn’t been any immigration reform because bigotry is “deeply embedded” in House Republicans.

Congressman Trey Gowdy (R-SC) really delivered when he took a stand to uplift the House members, reminding them of the purpose in their roles as leaders.

Gowdy also discussed Obama’s role as President of the United States, describing the way he has managed the duties and powers entrusted to him.

His speech is nothing short of thought-provoking.

“I want us to talk as colleagues, because our foundational document gave us as the House unique powers and responsibilities. We run every two years because they intended for us to be closest to the people. The President was given different duties and powers. The President was given the duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, so my question, Mr. Speaker, is what does that mean to you?”

“We know the President can veto a bill for any reason or for no reason,” he continued. “We know the President can refuse to defend the constitutionality of a statute – even one that he signs into law. We know the President can issue pardons for violations of the very laws that we pass, and we know that the President has prosecutorial discretion as evidenced and used through his U.S. attorneys.
