How Did 50K Dockworkers Strike at U.S. Ports With Only 25K Jobs?

Nearly 50,000 dockworkers launched a strike this week at ports from Maine to Texas — but, in a bizarre quirk that has resulted from massive concessions to the union over the decades, the affected ports only employ 25,000.

There’s a massive gulf in the numbers between those who show up for work and total membership in the powerful International Longshoremen’s Association, which won a deal late Thursday for a 62% wage increase over the next six years.

That’s because half of the dockworkers at the East and Gulf coast ports are allowed to sit at home collecting “container royalties” negotiated decades ago to protect against job losses that result from innovation, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The impact of these no-show jobs at the ports — controlled by ILA’s highly-paid and foul-mouthed president Harold Daggett — were part of an explosive 2019-2020 Waterfront Commission report cited by The Journal’s editorial board on Friday.

As you know, Trump is famous for his letter-writing—whether it’s heartwarming or brutally savage, he knows how to make an impact. And after Cuban’s show “The Benefactor” got axed, Trump sent him one of those classic, slicing-and-dicing letters. It’s a doozy.

PATHETIC: Kamala Announces $750 for Helene Victims After WH Pledged Another $8B for Ukraine

By Breitbart. Vice President Kamala Harris announced $750 in aid for Hurricane Helene victims, just days after her and President Joe Biden’s administration announced $8 billion in a new installment of aid for Ukraine.

Harris spent the weekend campaigning on the West Coast as the hurricane unleashed deadly destruction across the nation’s southwest, killing hundreds of Americans, with hundreds more still missing.

On Wednesday, Harris visited Georgia — two days after former President Donald Trump visited — and announced what many are criticizing as a measly amount of aid for hurricane victims: $750.

Harris touted during remarks in Augusta, Georgia, “The federal relief and assistance that we have been providing has included FEMA providing $750 for folks who need immediate needs being met, such as food, baby formula, and the like. And you can apply now.”

Sorry, Hurricane Victims: Harris-Biden Already Spent Your Relief Funds on Migrants

By New York Post. The next Americans to get slammed by the Harris-Biden border disaster: hurricane victims!

Homeland Security chief Alejandro Mayorkas, who also oversees the Federal Emergency Management Agency, announced Wednesday that “FEMA does not have the funds to make it” through the rest of hurricane season — because it’s already emptied its emergency kitty on illegal-migrant expenses.

It’s now sending Helene victims $750 checks to finish off of a fund of just $10 million to help hurricane survivors buy groceries. . .

Meanwhile, FEMA’s devoted $641 million this year just to help state and local governments handle the influx.

(Of course, Mayor Adams will point out that this federal help is far short of what localities need to cover their migrant costs. But Biden’s not asking for an appropriation to pay for that, because then he’d have to admit the cost of his open-border policies: Far better to just deplete FEMA’s funds, then tell Adams and other mayors to just suck it up, or else).

To be fair, it’s not just Mayorkas who didn’t prep properly for this year’s hurricanes: Kamala Harris reportedly skipped the annual pre-storm-season briefing, indeed has opted out every year she’s been veep. Medical Doctor Who Lost Her License for Protesting on January 6 Shot and Killed

A woman who had her medical license suspended after attending the Jan. 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol was shot and killed by a man serving her papers on Tuesday.

The woman has been identified by King County Medical Examiner as Tamara Towers Parry, known by online communities as Dr. Tammy.

The Seattle Police Department confirmed that Parry was shot and killed by one of two individuals who came to her house on Tuesday intending to serve her papers when she exited the house with a shotgun. The man then shot the 57-year-old with his handgun.

“The shotgun was not fired.” said SPD spokesperson Det. Brian Pritchard.

According to Zillow, Parry’s house is listed as being in pre-foreclosure/auction status due to a $225,000 unpaid balance. Furthermore, the property was scheduled to be auctioned two weeks ago, in accordance with a “notice of trustee sale” filed with King County in May. Bombshell Allegations: Kamala’s Husband Accused of Assaulting Woman in 2012

In a troubling development, Doug Emhoff, the husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, has been credibly accused of physically assaulting a woman during the Cannes Film Festival in May 2012. The allegations come from three friends of the alleged victim, who has been identified only by the pseudonym “Jane.”

According to reports from the Daily Mail, the incident occurred late at night while Jane and Emhoff were waiting in a valet line after a festival event. It is claimed that after a night of drinking, Jane attempted to expedite her exit by offering a valet a tip to move to the front of the line. One friend recounted that Jane “put her hand on [the valet’s] shoulder,” a gesture that reportedly prompted Emhoff to perceive as flirtation.

The friend alleged that Emhoff confronted Jane, resulting in an unexpected and violent response. “Doug apparently thought that she was flirting, and came over and slapped her in the face,” the friend stated. The altercation allegedly led to Jane slapping him back before deciding to end their relationship that night.

Describing the emotional aftermath, the friend recalled receiving a sobbing phone call from Jane. “It was hard to hear her because she was sobbing. She told me she was with a guy, and he hit her,” she said. Another friend reiterated the shock and fury Jane experienced after the incident, stating, “She said she was in utter shock [and] so furious, she slapped him.”

The friends further alleged that as Jane attempted to leave following the altercation, Emhoff forced his way into her taxi. According to the accounts, Emhoff showed no remorse the following day, as Jane confided to her friends that he was “unapologetic about the alleged abuse.”

Supporting their claims, Jane’s friends provided the Daily Mail with documentation, including a photograph of Emhoff with Jane, whose face is obscured, along with travel documents from the trip. It has been reported that Jane and Emhoff had a serious relationship prior to the alleged assault.

As this shocking allegation comes to light, the political ramifications for Emhoff and the broader implications for the Biden administration remain to be seen.

‘They Have Decided to Go Silent’: Springfield Police Cut Radio Access as Springfield Descends Into ‘Absolute Turmoil,’ Says Ohio Police Chief

Tremont City Police Chief Chad Duncan says Springfield, Ohio, has fallen into “absolute turmoil” since the arrival of approximately 20,000 Haitian nationals.

Blaze News’ Julio Rosas returned to Tremont City, located approximately eight miles outside Springfield, this week to speak with local officials and residents to learn their perspective on the impact of the new arrivals.

Duncan told Rosas that Springfield has descended into lawlessness and that he is concerned it is spreading to nearby towns, including Tremont City.

“You’ve got a city that’s in absolute turmoil,” he said, referring to Springfield. “Everybody’s against everybody.”

One of Duncan’s most significant concerns is the increase in traffic accidents caused by Haitian drivers, who often are not licensed to operate vehicles, he said.

He told Blaze News that Tremont City law enforcement is doing everything possible to crack down on the potentially deadly crashes but noted that Springfield appears to be protecting Haitian nationals from facing any real consequences for reckless driving.

Bomb Dropped During WWII Finally Explodes

A dormant U.S.-made World War II-era bomb exploded Wednesday morning at an airport in southwestern Japan, prompting a runway closure and multiple flight cancellations, according to reports.

The shell exploded without warning on a taxiway at Miyazaki Airport at about 8 a.m., leaving a crater nearly 23 feet wide and just over three feet deep, Japan’s Kyodo News reported.

The Japanese army’s explosive ordnance disposal unit investigated the site, the outlet added. No injuries were reported. Local firefighters and police also responded, and the police issued a localized evacuation order.

A video of the explosion obtained by Kyodo News from a nearby aviation college shows black debris shooting skyward and a damaged portion of the tarmac. An airplane had passed nearby only two minutes before, the outlet reported.
