The ‘It’s Easier to Buy a Gun Than Cold Medicine’ Crowd Just Got Slapped with Reality; Trump to Release Gun Control Proposals

By Townhall. Okay—let’s look at the positives of this story. A Business Insider reporter, Hayley Peterson, tried to buy a gun at Walmart to test “the placement, selection, marketing, and security of firearms in Walmart’s stores, and to learn more about the retailer’s processes governing gun sales.” In other words, she wanted to make sure that background checks work. So, she’s going to try and buy a gun, which is something that tens of millions of Americans have already done. And she walked into a Walmart—a family-owned business that’s anathema to the Left. After the mass shooting in El Paso, Texas, Walmart has been hit with a petition to end all gun sales.

During the process, Peterson admits that the process was more complicated than the false narrative that’s peddled by the liberal media, the most popular being that it’s easier to buy a gun than cold medicine. Well, her journey just slapped all those clowns who thought that with reality. Background checks are effective. Everyone who goes through a Federal Firearms Licensed dealer to buy their firearms, which is the vast majority of sales in this country, has to undergo a background check. Period. Walmart stopped selling handguns in the 1990s and removed semiautomatic rifles, such as the AR-15, from stores in 2015. . .

A Walmart spokesman later told me that to sell firearms, employees must pass both an enhanced criminal background check and annual online training, provided by Walmart, that includes a mock gun transaction.

Walmart also complies with state-specific requirements where applicable. Illinois, for example, requires people who sell guns to have a firearm-owner identification card, issued by state police.

Trump to Release Gun Control Proposals, Including Background Check Updates

By Politico. President Donald Trump will unveil a series of proposals — including suggested changes to background checks — in the coming weeks, according to the White House, following mass shootings in Texas and Ohio.

It remains unclear exactly what Trump will recommend, though, adding little clarity to the president’s confounding remarks on the subject in recent weeks. Trump and his aides on Wednesday would only say that the president will offer ways to close “loopholes” in the background check system, while declining to reveal any details.

The White House did not give a timetable for the proposals — which will likely include other legislation and executive actions addressing domestic terrorism, violent video games and mental health treatment — but suggested that the package would be timed to Congress’s return in early September. The president received a formal briefing on Tuesday from his staff about the possible options, according to a White House official. David Gelernter, prominent writer and Yale University professor, believes it’s high time for people to drop Charles Darwin’s outdated theory of evolution. . .

Gelernter, who has been a proponent of Darwinism since childhood, argued that the longstanding theory of evolution simply doesn’t give a thorough enough explanation of, perhaps, the most important component of modern science: the actual origin of species. . .

He pointed out that the concept of intelligent design is not necessarily his favorite theory, but insists that it is an “absolutely serious argument,” pointing out that the theory is the very “first, and obviously most intuitive that comes to mind.” . . .

“I have to distinguish between the way I’ve been treated personally, which has been a very courteous and collegial way by my colleagues at Yale, they’re nice guys and I like them, they’re my friends,” he said in June remarks. “On the other hand, when I look at their intellectual behavior, what they publish, and, much more important, what they tell their students, Darwinism has indeed passed beyond a scientific argument.” . . .

“[I haven’t seen anything] approaching free speech on this topic,” Gelernter admitted. “It’s a bitter rejection, not just — a sort of bitter, fundamental, angry, outraged, violent rejection, which comes nowhere near scientific of intellectual discussion. I’ve seen that happen again and again. ‘I’m a Darwinist, don’t you say a word against it, or, I don’t wanna hear it, period.'”

Tea Party Republican Mulling Primary Challenge Against President Trump; 2020 Candidates Starting to Drop; The Thrill Is Gone? Dems Seem Bored with Their Presidential Candidates

By The Blaze. Tea Party Republican and former Illinois congressman Joe Walsh is considering a primary challenge against President Donald Trump, and the now-talk radio host says if he does announce a run, “it’s going to be before Labor Day.” . . .

The New York Times reported Wednesday that Walsh “is expected to announce he is running for president as early as this weekend.” He told The Times, “If I do it, it’s going to be before Labor Day.”

Walsh went from passionately supporting President Trump’s candidacy in 2016 to regularly — and adamantly — speaking out against the president and calling him “unfit” for the office. The former congressman from Illinois told WTTW-TV this week that the turning point for him came when President Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2018. . .

But Walsh has a tough row to hoe in presenting any significant threat to President Trump according to the current political landscape, where the president enjoys strong polling numbers from Republican voters and the “undivided” support of the Republican National Committee. . .

So far, one Republican is formally challenging President Trump in the primary. Former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld threw his hat in the ring earlier this year, after running as the Libertarian Party’s vice presidential nominee in the 2016 election. Climate Alarmist Candidate Jay Inslee Drops Out of 2020 Presidential Race

By PJ Media. Gov. Jay Inslee (D-Wash.) announced he was dropping out of the 2020 presidential race on Wednesday. Having decided to make his presidential campaign all about climate change, Inslee found himself in a race packed to the gills with far-left climate activists just as radical as he is. He made many desperate gambits for attention, like calling President Trump a “white nationalist” (fact check: false) and hinting that he would prosecute fossil fuel executives for murder.

“This show has been so good to me, this has been sort of the bookends of my campaign,” Inslee told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow. “It’s become clear that I’m not going to be carrying the ball. I’m not going to be president, so tonight I’m withdrawing from the race.”

The Thrill Is Gone? Dems Seem Bored with Their Presidential Candidates

By PJ Media. It’s a long way down from “Hope and Change” to “Succumb to the Inevitable,” but that’s the level of excitement generated by the 2020 Dem contenders. Sad!

Jonathan Easley writes for The Hill that “soft levels of support mark this year’s Democratic primary” and is the defining feature of this year’s frontrunners, “even after an intense focus on the race by the national media.” You can shine a light on Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, and Elizabeth Warren, but it seems you can’t make any of them shine. . . .

What does all this voter confusion mean for the candidates themselves? Kamala Harris, once thought to be the youngish/intersectional/progressive alternative to Biden, now faces a “crossroads” in a campaign that has “lost steam” in recent weeks. Bernie Sanders, whose support seems to have softened since his electrifying (well, if you’re into that kind of thing) 2016 effort? He’s now punching down, as it were, at Harris, and also at Elizabeth Warren. Edward Hardy writes for The Independent that “the increase in attacks clearly reveals that Sanders and his campaign team are concerned” with softening poll numbers. . .

If electability is the goal, then where is the money, the oil that fuels every campaign? The Daily Caller reported yesterday that DNC chair Tom Perez “will hold three fundraisers for American ex-patriots [sic] in Mexico, as Democrats struggle to keep pace with Republicans in fundraising.” Just make sure they’re all genuine Americans, Tom, because taking campaign funds from foreigners is wrong… and something Democrats would never, ever do. Wink-wink, nudge-nudge. . .

Disgusting Actress Says Her ‘Life Would Be Completely Lacking’ If Not for Her Abortions

. . .According to Yahoo News, the former “Charmed” actress and noted feminist activist revealed in the latest of her podcast “Sorry Not Sorry” that she had two abortions in her early twenties when her relationship with her boyfriend went south.

“In 1993, I had two abortions,” Milano said. “I was in love for the first time in the breathless way you can only be in love when you are young. It was huge — overwhelming even. It filled every part of living. It was a joyful and exciting and powerful time in my life.”

Milano did not say who the man was, though Yahoo News noted that she “fell in love with actor Scott Wolf that year while making ‘Double Dragon,'” which eventually resulted in the two getting engaged after moving in together.

Despite being on the birth control, Milano admitted that she still got pregnant, which caused a great deal of emotion in her due to her Catholic background. She did know, however, that she was “not equipped to be a mother and so I chose to have an abortion. I chose. It was my choice. And it was absolutely the right choice for me.” . . .

“I would not have my children — my beautiful, perfect, loving, kind an inquisitive children — who have a mother who was so very, very ready for them,” she continued. “Fifteen years after that first love had fizzled, my life would be completely lacking all its great joys. This Encrypted Email Address Was Created in Order to Transfer All of Hillary Clinton’s Emails

Remember Hillary Clinton’s emails, the 30,000 or so that went missing that were subpoenaed? Well, we might be able to find them. We just need to ask Google. At The Daily Caller, investigative reporter Luke Rosiak said that the former first lady’s IT guy, who ignored a congressional subpoena, might have created an encrypted Gmail account and forwarded all those communications to that address. So, it looks like the Russians don’t need to look for them after all, a joke that Trump said at a press conference during the 2016 election that sent the liberal media into a tailspin. No, he wasn’t asking the Russians to spy it was in jest. It was sarcastic—and if you think otherwise, pat yourself on the back. You’re one of the reasons why Trump won because he, along with his team, knows the liberal media is corrupt, stupid, or both. And when you know that—you can make these clowns do anything. And he’s done that repeatedly since he won the election.

Anyway, back to Clinton’s IT guy, Rosiak notes the timeline and details, including the discovery that this transfer, which did not seem to spark much interest with now-fired and disgraced FBI Agent Peter Strzok who was a key person in the bureau’s investigation into Hillary’s server (via Daily Caller):

Virtually every single one of Hillary Clinton’s emails were sent, potentially secretly, to a cryptically named Gmail address, according to a new Senate report.

The finding, which has not been previously reported, means that Clinton’s emails, including classified ones and ones which were later deleted, likely existed on Google’s U.S.-based servers. The FBI said in the report that it knew this — and of the suspicious explanation for it — but did not alert other intelligence agencies or the public, according to the report.

The FBI says that the suspicious Gmail address was set up by an IT aide, Paul Combetta, who worked for a company that managed Clinton’s server. Combetta is the same IT aide who used BleachBit to permanently erase copies of Clinton’s emails after they were subpoenaed by the House, misled the FBI about it, and was given immunity from prosecution, all while asking for basic computing advice on Reddit.

Now Those Who Fight AGAINST ISIS Get Prosecuted

By WND Staff. . .Judith Bergman, a columnist, lawyer, political analyst and senior fellow at the Gatestone Institute wrote about the problem.

“Some European countries are actually in the process of prosecuting nationals who travelled to Syria and Iraq to fight against ISIS,” she explained. “In the U.K., it is estimated that just a few dozen British volunteers fought against ISIS. By comparison, approximately 850 U.K. nationals travelled from the U.K. to join ISIS.”

Jim Matthews was the first person prosecuted in the U.K. for fighting with the Kurdish People’s Protection Units, or YPG, which is not a proscribed terrorist group in Britain.

“A second British national, Aidan James, who fought with the YPG against ISIS, was arrested and charged with terror offences in February 2018,” Bergman wrote. “James was charged with receiving training from the PKK, before going on to fight with Kurdish YPG units in Syria. James’s case, tried in April, was inconclusive: the jury failed to reach a verdict on whether he had committed terror offences by fighting against ISIS. Prosecutors said they would be seeking a retrial of his case.”

Jihadi Jack: IS Recruit Jack Letts Loses UK Citizenship

By BBC. A Muslim convert who joined the Islamic State group as a teenager has had his British citizenship revoked.

Jack Letts – nicknamed Jihadi Jack in the press – was 18 when he left school in Oxfordshire in 2014 to join IS fighters in Raqqa, Syria.

Mr Letts, who is a dual UK-Canadian national, was jailed after being captured by Kurdish YPG forces while trying to flee to Turkey in May 2017.

The Canadian government said the UK had “off-loaded” its responsibilities.

Why Was Jeffrey Epstein Allowed to Purchase Small Women’s Panties From the Palm Beach Jail?

By Miami Herald. A decade ago, during a brief stint in Palm Beach County Jail, convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein made an odd purchase at the facility’s store: two pairs of small women’s panties, size 5.

It was just one of thousands of dollars of purchases made by the disgraced financier while in jail after pleading guilty in 2008 to soliciting a minor for sex, according to a purchase log. (His top purchase was single-serve cups of coffee, of which he bought more than 800 in 13 months.) But the panties raise questions about why a childless male inmate, accused of sexually abusing girls as young as 14, would be allowed to buy female undergarments so small that they wouldn’t fit an average-sized adult woman.

The panties were certainly too small for Epstein, who also purchased his briefs in men’s medium and sweatshirts ranging from XL to 3XL, and size-12 shoes. So what, or who, were they for, and why wouldn’t the purchase raise eyebrows under the circumstances? It’s one of many questions that arise from thousands of pages of records obtained by the Miami Herald from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Jeffrey Epstein’s Lawyers Break Their Silence After Official Cause of Death Revealed

By The Blaze. Three lawyers representing accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein broke their silence Friday evening, announcing they plan to conduct their own thorough investigation into Epstein’s shocking death.

“We are not satisfied with the conclusions of the medical examiner,” lawyers Martin G. Weinberg, Reid Weingarten, and Michael Miller said in a statement. . .

The lawyers claimed Epstein was imprisoned under “harsh, even medieval conditions” at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in lower Manhattan. And because it is “indisputable that the authorities violated their own protocols,” the lawyers said they would conduct their own investigation.

“The defense team fully intends to conduct its own independent investigation into the circumstances and cause of Mr. Epstein’s death including if necessary legal action to view the pivotal videos — if they exist as they should — of the area proximate to Mr. Epstein’s cell during the time period leading to his death,” the lawyers said. . .

However, questions swirled around the official cause of Epstein’s death on Thursday after the Washington Post reported that Epstein’s autopsy revealed he had several broken neck bones more consistent with homicide by strangulation than suicide by hanging. Google Insider Goes Public, Says Restoring Liberty Was Intentionally Discriminated Against by “Highly Biased” Internet Giant

By Project Veritas. A Google insider who anonymously leaked internal documents to Project Veritas made the decision to go public in an on-the-record video interview. The insider, Zachary Vorhies, decided to go public after receiving a letter from Google, and after he says Google allegedly called the police to perform a “wellness check” on him.

Along with the interview, Vorhies asked Project Veritas to publish more of the internal Google documents he had previously leaked. Said Vorhies:

“I gave the documents to Project Veritas, I had been collecting the documents for over a year. And the reason why I collected these documents was because I saw something dark and nefarious going on with the company and I realized that there were going to not only tamper with the elections, but use that tampering with the elections to essentially overthrow the United States.”

Project Veritas has released hundreds of internal Google documents leaked by Vorhies. Among those documents is a file called “news black list site for google now.” The document, according to Vorhies, is a “black list,” which restricts certain websites from appearing on news feeds for an Android Google product. The list includes conservative and progressive websites, such as newsbusters.org and mediamatters.org. The document says that some sites are listed with or because of a “high user block rate.”

Another newly published document titled “Fringe ranking/classifer: Defining channel quality” lists an example ranking of various news sites, including CNN and FOX News. CHILLING CLAIM: Pedophile Jeffrey Epstein Given 3 Young Girls as Birthday Present

The disturbing allegations resurfaced in light of Epstein’s apparent suicide in his Metropolitan Correction Center jail cell last week.

“The worst one that I heard from his own mouth was this pretty 12 year old girls he had flown in for his birthday,” alleged victim Virginia Roberts, who now goes by Virginia Giuffre, said of Epstein, according to The Sun.

“It was a surprise birthday gift from one of his friends and they were from France. I did see them, I did meet them,” she said, noting, “Jeffrey bragged afterwards after he met them that they were 12-year-olds and flown over from France because they’re really poor over there, and their parents needed the money or whatever the case is and they were absolutely free to stay and flew out.”

Constitution Party Gets Fraud-Laced Voting System Thrown Out, State May Have to Return to Paper Ballots; State Officials Were “Not Credible”

Thursday Judge Amy Totenberg of the U.S. District Court of North Georgia banned the current Direct Recording Electronic (DRE) voting systems from further use in Georgia elections beginning in 2020. The DRE system produces results that cannot be verified by the voter, audited by election officials or recounted for candidates. The court found the system impairs Georgia voters’ Constitutional right to vote in any federal election.

Constitution Party of Georgia (CPGA) Chairman Ricardo Davis is a plaintiff in the case that obtained the landmark ruling; no other political party had leadership that participated as plaintiffs in the lawsuit. It was the second federal election court win for CPGA plaintiffs in three years. CPGA plaintiffs participated in a successful ballot access lawsuit that reduced Presidential ballot access petitioning requirements by 85% in the 2016 election cycle.

The landmark ruling essentially reverses a 2008 Georgia Supreme Court decision where the court refused to apply a strict scrutiny legal standard to the Constitutional right to vote for Georgia voters. Davis and CPGA Elections Director Garland Favorito where plaintiffs in that case.

The ruling Thursday came as no surprise to those who attended a July hearing that revealed the state had concealed key internet exposures and vulnerabilities from the court. Totenberg’s comments cited “inconsistent candor” by the defendants in “denial and dodging” of the “broad scale vulnerability” involving the 2017 internet breach of the election servers at Kennesaw State. She concluded: “the Defendants’ contention that the servers were … not intentionally destroyed or wiped is flatly not credible.”

Judge Totenberg’s ruling requires the state to implement a backup plan of hand marked paper ballots if the system replacing the current DRE system is not ready for the March Presidential Primary.
