These High Blood Pressure Drugs May Protect Against Parkinson’s, Dementia, Huntington’s

In several recent studies, scientists have found that common high blood pressure drugs may help protect the brain and prevent chronic brain diseases.

For example, researchers from the University of Cambridge found that a prescribed high blood pressure drug felodipine may help prevent Huntington’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. . .

The researchers tested the drug on mice and found that the drug was effective to reduce the risk of Huntington’s and Parkinson’s disease. . .

In another study, researchers from the University of Leipzig in Germany shows that several high blood pressure drugs are linked to lower dementia risk.

The drugs include angiotensin II receptor blockers, ACE inhibitors, calcium channel blockers, calcium channel blockers, and beta-blockers. (Read more from “These High Blood Pressure Drugs May Protect Against Parkinson’s, Dementia, Huntington’s” HERE)

NASA, Scientists Crush Climate Change Hysteria Around Amazon Fires — Here’s the Truth

While climate change alarmists spread fear over wildfires in the Amazon rainforest, data from NASA shows there is no reason for concern — or there should have been concern in past years.

From media outlets to politicians, the wildfires have sparked a wave of misinformation and hysteria. The wildfires are so frightening because the Amazon produces 20 percent of the world’s oxygen, they claim. Others alleged the fires could speed up climate change.

And even though fires are common, NASA analysis shows that current fire activity is at or below average.

As of August 16, 2019, an analysis of NASA satellite data indicated that total fire activity across the Amazon basin this year has been close to the average in comparison to the past 15 years. (The Amazon spreads across Brazil, Peru, Colombia, and parts of other countries.)

Though activity appears to be above average in the states of Amazonas and Rondônia, it has so far appeared below average in Mato Grosso and Pará, according to estimates from the Global Fire Emissions Database, a research project that compiles and analyzes NASA data.

WATCH: Dan Crenshaw Corrects Democrat Pastor for Supporting Socialism

Matt covered the insanity brought on by climate change protesters at the Democratic National Committee’s summer meeting this week. But, it isn’t just the party crashers who are saying truly outlandish things, it’s also the invited speakers. Progressive Pastor Rev. William Barber challenged Republicans on whether or not socialism is moral. He even invited the debate, saying Jesus would support the economic system. Luckily, we have Texas Republican Congressman Dan Crenshaw to explain to the preacher just how wrong he is.

“When we embrace moral language, we must ask does our policy care for the least of these? Does it lift up those who are most marginalized and dejected in our society? Does it establish justice? That is the moral question,” Rev. William Barber said to applause.

“If someone calls it socialism, then we must compel them to acknowledge that the Bible must then promote socialism, because Jesus offered free health care to everyone, and he never charged a leper a co-pay,” he added. . .

“Deliberate misreading of Biblical principles by DNC to promote socialism,” the freshman congressman tweeted. “The Bible teaches charity with one’s own time and money. Socialism teaches charity with other people’s time and money. So….not the same thing.”

Perhaps Rev. Barber, since he is interested in a moral debate, should be reminded of what Roman Catholic Pope John Paul II had to say on the subject. Socialism, the now-Catholic saint argued, disregards the sanctity of individual life. That’s why it’s truly evil and always leads to poverty, famine, and death. Census Could Reveal Electoral Extinction of the Republicans

The recent battle over a citizenship question on the 2020 census perked up ears and attention on both sides of the political aisle. Part of why there was the sharp division over this question comes from obvious partisan concerns. Governors of states with high numbers of illegal immigrants such as California and Texas realize that including the question would result in a loss of representation in Congress and the Electoral College, along with prospective federal funding changes. President Trump and his administration had wanted to return the historical question to the tally.

But there is also a fight over what the 2020 numbers tell us in terms of demographics and election results. The 2018 Texas Senate race and the stark transition of California into a Democratic stronghold intimates that changing immigration numbers could transform electoral politics for generations to come. Major alterations to immigration law since the 1960s have deprioritized migration from Europe and increased illegal entry at the border with Mexico. The Democrats are awaiting a majority minority nation, which could indeed become a reality over the next two decades.

Whites tend to vote Republican, while nonwhites tend to vote Democrat. This proved true in the 2016 election, when Trump carried white voters by 20 percent, while Hillary Clinton won 74 percent of nonwhite voters. With the number of Latinos living in the United States nearly doubling since 2000, it is not difficult to see why Texas could soon follow California, Colorado, and Nevada into the Democratic camp in the next 20 years.

Using the 2000 census and the 2010 census along with 2018 data, the electoral reality becomes more clear. The population of those under 18 will be majority nonwhite next year. Each of the major ethnic groups is expanding at different rates. By averaging the rate of annual population change between 2010 and 2018, we get an estimate of 2020 demographic figures. The number of Latinos will likely increase to nearly 63 million in 2020, an astounding 24 percent higher than in 2010. Latinos will comprise 19 percent of the overall population by 2020, up 50 percent from 2000. Finally, the proportion of whites as a percentage of the overall population will likely decline from 69 percent in 2000 down to 59 percent in 2020.

Should the demographic trends continue down the same path in future elections, there is a potential bloodbath for the Republican Party on the horizon. Due to the fact that the children of most recent immigrants are often under 18, modern elections actually underestimate the future voting potential of Latinos and other immigrant groups. In 2016, 29 percent of the electorate was nonwhite, but almost 40 percent of the country was nonwhite. Over the next decade, young nonwhites will reach the age of the majority of the electorate and begin their political participation. Court Orders State to Pay for Sex Offender’s Trans Surgery; Governor Refuses

Citing constitutional protections against inflicting “cruel and unusual punishments” on criminals, a panel of three judges on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled on Friday that the State of Idaho must pay for the male-to-female gender reassignment surgery of an inmate sentenced to 10 years in prison for sexually abusing a 15-year-old boy. In response, Republican Gov. Brad Little vowed to make sure taxpayer money is not diverted to the sex offender’s surgery, particularly because the treating physician and multiple mental health professionals maintain that it is not medically necessary.

The Eighth Amendment of the Constitution states that “[e]xcessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted” on criminals. That amendment, a three-judge panel ruled Friday, requires the State of Idaho to pay for the $20,000 to $30,0000 sex reassignment surgery for Adree Edmo, a biological male convicted of sexually abusing a 15-year-old at the age of 22 and who claims to identify as a female.

Edmo began serving time in a male prison in 2012. In 2017, Edmo sued the state, claiming the state’s refusal to pay for the controversial and costly surgery was “cruel and unusual punishment.”

Last December, Federal District Judge B. Lynn Winmill sided with Edmo, ruling that the state should fund the surgery, a ruling the state appealed. On Friday, the panel agreed with Winmill, concluding that prison officials were “deliberately indifferent to Edmo’s gender dysphoria, in violation of the Eighth Amendment,” as reported by Boise State Public Radio. Prison officials, the panel wrote, have not provided for what the judges say are Edmo’s “medical needs” due to the “extreme suffering” caused by gender dysphoria.

Edmo, who is due for release in early 2021, has been diagnosed with gender dysphoria, a condition in which a person identifies as the opposite of his or her biogical sex. NPR notes that Edmo reportedly twice attempted “self-castration.” (Read more from “Court Orders State to Pay for Sex Offender’s Trans Surgery; Governor Refuses” HERE)

Alyssa Milano: My Life Would Lack Its ‘Great Joys’ If I Hadn’t Aborted Two Children. This Pastor Has the Perfect Response.

A pastor who is the father of two young children came up with a scintillating response after actress Alyssa Milano stated that if she hadn’t had two abortions in 1993, her life would be “completely lacking all its great joys.”

Jarrid Wilson, an associate pastor at Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, California, tweeted a picture of himself, his wife, and their two young sons, and stated, “Everyone should post a picture of their kids and use the hashtag #greatjoys.”

Milano had said on her podcast, “Sorry Not Sorry,” “In 1993, I had two abortions. I was in love for the first time in the breathless way you can only be in love when you are young. It was huge — overwhelming even. It filled every part of living. It was a joyful and exciting and powerful time in my life.” After getting pregnant, she said, she was “not equipped to be a mother and so I chose to have an abortion. I chose. It was my choice. And it was absolutely the right choice for me.”

She continued, “A few months later I found out I was pregnant again. Once again I made the right decision to end the pregnancy.” Then, the clincher: “I would not have my children — my beautiful, perfect, loving, kind and inquisitive children — who have a mother who was so very, very ready for them. Fifteen years after that first love had fizzled, my life would be completely lacking all its great joys. I would never had been free to be myself — and that’s what this fight is all about: freedom.”

Wilson told FaithWire, “I don’t know Alyssa Milano personally, but I’m praying she really thinks about the totality of what she’s saying on public platforms, especially in regards to situations that encompass the reality of life and death … Children are our future, and a blessing from God, not a burden that so many people — specifically people who are only focused on their own achievement and goals — make them out to be … I believe our world needs to stop treating them that way. Whether she wants to admit it or not, she now has two children in heaven whom she will never experience the joy of parenting.” (Read more from “Alyssa Milano: My Life Would Lack Its ‘Great Joys’ If I Hadn’t Aborted Two Children. NASA Astronaut Accused of Committing the First Ever Crime in Space

Anne McClain is a decorated NASA astronaut who has spent more than 200 days in space. Now, she stands accused of committing the first ever crime in space.

McClain’s estranged spouse, former Air Force intelligence officer Summer Worden, has filed complaints with the Federal Trade Commission and NASA’s Office of Inspector General accusing McClain of identity theft and improperly accessing her private financial information, the New York Times reported. . .

Worden told the Times she learned McClain accessed her accounts because McClain had intimate knowledge of her spending. To confirm her suspicions, Worden had her bank locate computers that had accessed her account; one such access point came from a computer registered with NASA. . .

Instead, McClain claims she was doing what she has always done: checking her family’s finances to ensure there were sufficient funds in the account to pay bills and care for the son that McClain and Worden have raised together.

McClain and Hardin are in the midst of a heated custody battle over their 6-year-old son, who was conceived via in vitro fertilization and carried by a surrogate. Their divorce is set to be finalized in October, NBC News reported. (Read more from “Decorated NASA Astronaut Accused of Committing the First Ever Crime in Space” HERE)

New Twist: ‘Doctoral-Level Psychologist’ Had Recommended Epstein Be TAKEN OFF Suicide Watch; France to Investigate Pedophile Rape Charges; ‘Little Black Book’ Contacts Claim to ‘Not Really Know the Guy’

By Fox News. Disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein was taken off suicide watch after being examined by a “doctoral-level psychologist” days before he hanged himself in his prison cell, according to the Justice Department.

The disclosure was made in a letter addressed Thursday to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., and ranking member Doug Collins, R-Ga. The letter was obtained by Fox News on Friday.

“The Department can confirm that Mr. Epstein was placed on suicide watch in July,” Justice Department official Stephen E. Boyd wrote. “Mr. Epstein was later removed from suicide watch after being evaluated by a doctoral-level psychologist who determined that a suicide watch was no longer warranted.” . . .

Epstein’s ability to take his own life while incarcerated at one of the most secure jails in America ended the possibility of a trial that could have involved prominent figures and sparked widespread anger that he wouldn’t have to answer for his alleged crimes.

Since Epstein’s death, Attorney General William Barr has removed the director of the federal Bureau of Prisons and appointed a new director and deputy director. The jail’s warden has been reassigned to a desk post at a regional office and two guards who were supposed to be watching Epstein the night he died were placed on administrative leave. France to Investigate Rape Charges Linked to Jeffrey Epstein Case

By Fox News. France opened an investigation on Friday into the alleged rape of minors and a raft of other charges linked to the Jeffrey Epstein case, the chief Paris prosecutor announced.

A statement by prosecutor Remy Heitz said the decision to open a preliminary investigation was based on “elements transmitted” to his office and “exchanges with American authorities, competent in the so-called Epstein affair.” . . .

No details were provided about what “elements” led to the probe and whether it might concern in-person testimony from alleged victims of Epstein who had maintained an apartment at a luxury address near the Arc de Triomphe. Nope, Didn’t Really Know the Guy, Say Many Listed in Jeffrey Epstein’s ‘Little Black Book’

By Miami Herald. My sister knew his girlfriend. Maybe I handed him my business card once. We met at a party a long time ago.

Those are the kinds of answers offered by people listed in Jeffrey Epstein’s “little black book.” Asked why they’re in Epstein’s book and you’ll hear a lot of throat clearing, vague answers and head-scratching befuddlement.

That’s if you get any answer at all. . .

Alan Quartucci was surprised to be in the black book. He is a bloodstock agent, an expert at finding promising Thoroughbreds in New York and Kentucky for clients looking to purchase or partner in the ownership of a race horse.

“I never even met the guy. I think I had dinner once or twice with Ghislaine Maxwell,” he said, noting they had met in an airport. (Read more from “Nope, Didn’t Really Know the Guy, Say Many Listed in Jeffrey Epstein’s ‘Little Black Book’” HERE)

Rudy Giuliani Astonishes Legal Experts With Remarks on Ukraine-DNC Collusion Investigation

Rudy Giuliani, former mayor of New York City and President Donald Trump‘s most visible personal attorney during the Mueller investigation, confirmed on Thursday that he pushed the Ukrainian government, with help from the State Department, to search for evidence of collusion between Ukrainian officials and the Democratic National Committee (DNC). More specifically, he claimed he was looking to see if the DNC worked with Ukrainian officials to dig up dirt on twice-convicted felon and former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort to harm the 2016 campaign.

In a move that raised the eyebrows of legal experts, Giuliani openly acknowledged that he met Ukrainian officials in Madrid. Giuliani has reportedly been investigating Hunter Biden (Joe Biden’s son) and his investments in a Ukranian natural gas company.

Giuliani has also reportedly been speaking to Andriy Yermak, a lawyer for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. While it’s unclear how aware President Trump is of Giuliani’s activities, Giuliani has told the New York Times that “[Trump] basically knows what I’m doing, sure, as his lawyer,” with regard to his investigation. . .

“[The New York] Times completely turned a story about astounding allegations of serious crimes of state concerning Dems into a piece trying to suggest I did something nefarious except they can’t say what it is,” Giuliani said to NBC News, regarding reporting of his investigation. He also confirmed that the State Department helped him connect with Yermak.

Outside of his suggestion that the DNC colluded with Ukrainian officials regarding Manafort, Giuliani also spent time questioning Joe Biden’s call for Ukraine to remove Viktor Shokin, a prosecutor who was investigating Burisma Holdings, a company Biden’s son was on the board of. The Road Not Taken: Another FBI Failure Involving the Clintons Surfaces

. . .Thanks to the relentless investigative work of Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), we are learning that the Hillary Clinton email case may not really be settled.

A staff memo updating the two senators’ long-running probe discloses that the FBI — the version run in 2016 by the now-disgraced and fired James Comey, Andrew McCabe and Peter Strzok — failed to pursue access to “highly classified” evidence that could have resolved important questions.

The failure to look at the evidence back in 2016 occurred even though the agents believed access to the sensitive evidence was “necessary” to complete the investigation into Clinton’s improper transmission of classified emails — some top-secret — on her unsecure private email server, the memos show.

To make matters worse, the Trump Department of Justice (DOJ) has known about that decision since at least 2018, thanks to the work of the DOJ’s internal watchdog, Inspector General (IG) Michael Horowitz, who provided DOJ leaders and Congress with a classified appendix explaining what happened. . .

The inspector general’s “appendix raised a number of serious questions because, as explained on page 154 of the unclassified DOJ IG report, the FBI decided not to seek access to certain highly classified information potentially relevant to the investigation despite members of the FBI case team referring to the review as a ‘necessary’ part of the investigation,” the Senate staff wrote.
