Nancy Pelosi Takes a Shot at Ocasio-Cortez — Here’s What She Said

By The Blaze. House Speaker took a jab at Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and her popularity on social media and elsewhere in an interview published Monday.

The powerful Democratic leader mocked the upstart Socialist Democrat by making reference to her social media following, which is expansive.

“While there are people who have a large number of Twitter followers,” Pelosi said to USA Today, “what’s important is that we have large numbers of votes on the floor of the House.” (Read more from “Nancy Pelosi Takes a Shot at Ocasio-Cortez — Here’s What She Said” HERE)

Nancy Pelosi on Dems, Trump Administration

By USA Today. Democrats in competitive districts run as far as they can from the socialist label. They want to focus on what they campaigned on: lowering health care costs, bolstering infrastructure and spurring jobs growth. They are willing to work with Republicans. Rep. Josh Gottheimer, D-N.J., who co-chairs the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus, said that in divided government, “the key is actually moving the ball forward, which requires us working with both sides.”

Pelosi is trying to bridge those viewpoints. In a nod to each wing of the party, she said Democrats should fight for the “boldest common denominator.”

“While there are people who have a large number of Twitter followers, what’s important is that we have large numbers of votes on the floor of the House,” Pelosi said. Ocasio-Cortez has almost 4 million followers on Twitter.

When USA TODAY asked how more liberal members responded when she told them they needed legislation that could pass, she responded, “They’re fine.” (Read more from “Nancy Pelosi on Dems, Trump Administration” HERE)

Bombshell: House Intelligence Is Going After ‘Intelligence Leakers’ and Conspiracy Pushers

By Townhall. House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Devin Nunes (R-CA) on Sunday told Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo that the Committee plans to submit eight criminal referrals to Attorney General William Barr.

“We’re prepared this week to notify the attorney general that we’re prepared to send those referrals over and brief him if he wishes to be briefed,” Nunes said. . .

“So you’ve got eight referrals you’re going to send over the AG this week. Go through those referrals. These are criminal referrals. Two of them I know are about conspiracy,” Bartiromo said. “What can you tell us? Tell us as much as you can, in terms of breaking this news this morning, that you are prepared to send over eight criminal referrals ext week. What are they, Congressman?” . . .

“Five of them are what I would call straight up referrals so just referrals that are, that name someone and name the specific crimes. Those crimes are lying to Congress, misleading Congress, leaking classified information,” Nunes said.

“There are three that I think are more complicated. So you mentioned conspiracy. So the question on conspiracy is what, there’s the conspiracy statute, and then what do they need to look at under that statute. So on the first one, is FISA abuse and other matters we believe there is a conspiracy to lie to the FISA Court, mislead the FISA court by numerous individuals that all need to be investigated and looked at,” Nunes said. “The second conspiracy one is involving manipulation of intelligence. That also could [involve] many Americans and we are, so that’s kind of the second one. As you know, we’ve had a lot of concerns with the way intelligence was used.” (Read more from “Bombshell: House Intelligence Is Going After ‘Intelligence Leakers’ and Conspiracy Pushers” HERE)

Nunes to Send Eight Criminal Referrals to DOJ Concerning Leaks, Conspiracy Amid Russia Probe

By Fox News. House Intelligence Committee ranking member Devin Nunes exclusively told Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” that he is preparing to send eight criminal referrals to the Department of Justice this week concerning alleged misconduct from “Watergate wannabes” during the Trump-Russia investigation, including the leaks of “highly classified material” and conspiracies to lie to Congress and the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court.

The dramatic step comes as Republicans have pushed for the release of key documents to uncover the origins of the now-discredited narrative that the Trump campaign colluded improperly with the Russian government. President Trump recently told Fox News he would release the entirety of the FISA applications used to surveil one of his top aides, and other related documents. . .

It was not immediately clear whom Nunes would specifically refer. Both Democrats and Republicans have said former Trump fixer Michael Cohen is likely to face new charges of lying to Congress in the wake of his recent explosive testimony, which seemed to contradict his previous statements on a variety of matters, including whether he had sought a job in the Trump White House. Obama’s Confession About Assimilation May Land Him in Hot Water With Fellow Dems

During a town hall in Berlin for the Obama Foundation, former President Barack Obama defended the idea of immigrants assimilating to the American way of life. He believes that “some form of assimilation” is necessary and even refuted the idea that “assimilation of newcomers to the existing culture is somehow betrayal or a denial of people’s heritage.”

“And so some of the assimilation that inevitably takes place is gonna take a little bit longer, but some of those principles still apply, and I worry sometimes as we think about how to deal with the immigration issue we think that any moves towards assimilation of newcomers to the existing culture is somehow betrayal or a denial of people’s heritage or what have you,” Obama told the audience. “The truth of the matter is that if you’re going to have a coherent, cohesive society then everybody has to have some agreed upon rules, and there’s gonna have to be some accommodations that everybody makes, and that includes the people who are newcomers.”

What’s interesting is Obama said something many people have said for years: assimilation doesn’t mean losing who you are, where you came from or the culture you grew up with. It means having respect for the nation you’re coming to and the people who are born, raised and currently reside there.

“The question is, are those fair? Should we want to encourage newcomers to learn the language of the country they’re moving to? Of course. Does that mean they can never use their own language. No,” Obama said. “Of course it doesn’t mean that, but it’s not racist to say if you’re gonna be here then you should learn the language of the country you just arrived at, because we need to have some sort of common language in which all of us can work and learn and understand each other.”

Terrifying: This Is Now the Largest Religion in America

For the first time in history, atheists constitute the largest religious group in America. According to the General Social Survey, the number of Americans who have no religion has increased 266% over the past three decades and now account for 23.1% of the population, just barely edging out Catholics and Evangelicals as the nation’s dominant faith. Mainline Protestant churches have suffered the greatest collapse, declining 62.5% since 1982 and now comprising just 10.8% of the U.S. population.

As religiosity has declined, social ills have abounded. Nearly one in five American adults suffers from anxiety disorders, which now constitute the most common mental illness in the country. One in six Americans takes antidepressant drugs, a 65% surge over just 15 years. The problem is particularly acute among younger Americans. While depression diagnoses have increased 33% since 2013, that number is up 47% among Millennials and 63% among teenagers. Coincidentally, suicide rates among American teenagers have increased by 70% since 2006. American life expectancy declined again last year, as Americans continue to drug and kill themselves at record rates.

Social scientists have long since established the link between religiosity and life satisfaction. As social psychologist Sonja Lyubomirsky observes, people who attend religious services several times each week are nearly twice as likely as those who worship less than once a month to describe themselves as “very happy.” Such psychologists simply state the obvious: the belief that God loves you and that you will live with him in eternity offers greater consolation than the view of death as a dirt nap that stiffens you into worm food.

Religious people are also significantly more likely to engage in happy-making behaviors, such as getting and staying married. A study released in 2017 affirmed what countless others had already shown: married couples report higher life satisfaction than their single, divorced, and widowed neighbors. That satisfaction tends to last beyond the honeymoon and well into old age. (Read more from “Terrifying: This Is Now the Largest Religion in America” HERE)

After This Onstage Remark, Joe Biden 2020 Should Be Canceled

By Townhall. Does Joe Biden think the several allegations of touching women inappropriately are a joke? I mean, how else could you explain this incident at a union conference? The former vice president has begun laying the groundwork for his 2020 campaign. It’s happening. It’s in the works, but Me Too drama has struck. He’s a handsy kind-of-guy, Joe Biden. And for more than a few women, his displays of affection crossed the line into creep city. . .

At the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Conference at the Washington Hilton, Biden brought up some kid, put his arms around him and said, “He gave me permission to touch him all right?…Everyone knows I like kids better than people.”

Biden Walks Into Trump’s Punchline

By The Hill. President Trump mocked Joe Biden on Friday, saying he didn’t see the former vice president as a threat because he’s “only a threat to himself.”

Hours later, Biden may have proved the president’s point.

Seeking to move on from the controversy over allegations of unwanted touching and kissing from women, Biden offered jokes and a non-apology in front of a union crowd in Washington, D.C.

The performance received mixed reviews at best, with some commentators questioning whether Biden, a politician with a long history of gaffes, was taking the criticism of his behavior seriously.

Former Democratic Staffer Who Doxxed Republicans Pleads Guilty — Here’s the Punishment He’s Facing

By The Blaze. A former staffer for a Democratic congresswoman has pled guilty to several counts related to his revealing personal information of several Republican members of Congress during the debate over Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination.

Jackson Cosko was arrested in October 2018 over his hacking that amounted to “an extensive computer fraud and data theft scheme,” according to prosecutors. . .

He could face up to two years in prison.

Cosko admitted that he stole information from congressional computers because he was angry over being fired by Democratic Senator Maggie Hasan (N.H.).

He burglarized her office several times in order to gain access to proprietary computer information, including personal information of several members of Congress. (Read more from “Former Democratic Staffer Who Doxxed Republicans Pleads Guilty — Here’s the Punishment He’s Facing” HERE)

Former Democratic Aide Arrested, Suspected of Leaking GOP Senators’ Personal Info

By The Blaze. Capitol Police have arrested the man suspected of releasing the personal phone numbers and home addresses of Republican senators during last week’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, according to The Hill.

Jackson A. Cosko, a former aide who has been employed by several Democratic congresspeople recently, was arrested and charged with making public restricted personal information, witness tampering, unauthorized access of a government computer, identity theft, second degree burglary, unlawful entry, and threats in interstate communication.

Last week, someone made anonymous edits to the Wikipedia pages of Sens. Lindsey Graham, Orrin Hatch and Mike Lee, as well as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, while Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh was testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Some of the information was inaccurate, according to The Washington Post. (Read more from “Former Democratic Aide Arrested, Suspected of Leaking GOP Senators’ Personal Info” HERE)

Terrifying Times: Nation of Islam Leader Claims to Be Jesus

Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, who has reportedly led a chant of “death to America” and recently called for a separate state for black Americans, has made more controversial comments, claiming to be Jesus and clarifying his “anti-termite” statement.

Farrakhan made many shocking claims during NOI’s Saviours’ Day keynote address in February at the United Center arena in Chicago. He told Rep. Ilhan Omar “you have nothing to apologize for,” and he praised her fellow colleague freshman, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. . .

“Some of you do today reject because the white man told you I’m an evil man, I’m a hater, I’m an anti-Semite. I hate Jewish people, I hate gay people. Here I am in front of you. I represent the Jesus that saves. I don’t represent somebody that came to judge you and me for our errors and mistakes…Everywhere I went I found myself rejected. My black people, they accepted me. But now white people are frightening the hell out of black people. College presidents are punished for allowing me or anyone that represents me to come on the college campus because they fear what’s in my mouth from my teacher the Honorable Elijah Muhammad.” . . .

Farrakhan has a long history of anti-Semitic comments. Last year, he lost his verified status on Twitter after posting a video in which he asked: “I wonder, will you see the Satanic Jew and the Synagogue of Satan, which has many races in it because Satan has deceived the whole world?” Farrakhan has also said that he is not an anti-Semite, but rather “anti-termite,” and led a “Death to Israel” chant during a visit to Iran in November. FBI Director Christopher Wray Has a Shocking Admission About the Mueller Report

By Townhall. During a hearing about the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) budget on Thursday, FBI Director Christopher Wray was asked about Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report during a House Appropriations subcommittee hearing on the 2020 FBI budget.

“Have you had an occasion to read the Mueller report?” Rep. Charlie Crist (D-FL) asked Wray at the beginning of the hearing.

“I have not,” Wray replied.

What’s interesting about this: Mueller turned in his report almost two weeks ago. During his almost two-year investigation, Mueller utilized three dozen agents from the FBI, which falls under the Department of Justice, The Hill reported.

Attorney General William Barr provided Congress with a summary of Mueller’s report on March 24th, at which time no further indictments were brought forth against President Donald Trump’s campaign team. Barr and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein also concluded there was not sufficient evidence to say Trump obstructed justice. FBI Director Says He Hasn’t Read the Mueller Report

By The Hill. Mueller delivered the confidential report concluding his 22-month investigation to Attorney General William Barr two weeks ago. The report’s contents have remained closely held within the Justice Department as officials review it for public release.

The FBI is part of the Justice Department, and Mueller’s team was assisted by more than three dozen agents from the bureau.

In a four-page letter to Congress on March 24, Barr revealed that Mueller did not charge anyone associated with President Trump’s campaign with conspiring with the Russian government to meddle in the election. Barr and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein also concluded after reviewing Mueller’s report that there was not sufficient evidence to accuse Trump of an obstruction of justice offense, despite the special counsel not making a judgment one way or another.

House Democrats are pressuring Barr to release Mueller’s report in its entirety, without any redactions. Barr has indicated he plans to restrict details that could impact ongoing investigations, grand jury information, classified material and “information that would unduly infringe on the personal privacy and reputational interests of peripheral third parties.” (Read more from “FBI Director Says He Hasn’t Read the Mueller Report” HERE)

Major Upset: Conservative Supreme Court Candidate Shocks Liberals With Surprise Victory

It was a statewide race that only the nerdiest of political nerds were following at the national level, but suffice it to say that we’d be hearing a lot about it if the expected outcome had come to pass. By way of background, Wisconsin’s Supreme Court has been decidedly conservative for years, but when a liberal justice won a resounding 12-point victory last fall (Badger State voters choose Supreme Court members in nominally “non-partisan” elections), the Left immediately set it sights on the 2019 contest. If a left-leaning candidate had defeated another right-leaning jurist — as was widely anticipated by political experts — liberals believed they’d have a very real shot at wresting ideological control of the state’s high court in 2020. But a funny thing happened on the way to that liberal judicial renaissance. Voters intervened:

Appeals Judge Brian Hagedorn held a narrow lead early Wednesday in the race for Wisconsin Supreme Court, according to unofficial tallies that were so close both sides were bracing for a recount. In an early morning tweet and statement to supporters, Hagedorn claimed victory. “The people of Wisconsin have spoken and our margin of victory is insurmountable,” the statement read…Hagedorn led fellow Appeals Judge Lisa Neubauer 50.2% to 49.8% with nearly all of Tuesday’s votes unofficially counted — at a margin that allows a recount. A win by Hagedorn would defy the predictions of prominent groups that typically back conservative judicial candidates but counted him out and wouldn’t spend on his behalf during the race.

Hagedorn, the conservative, was seen as such a long-shot underdog that some deep-pocketed conservative groups decided not to spend money in the race, resulting in a large disparity that favored the left-wing message machine. But a concerted push by grassroots activists, and an eleventh-hour blitz by former Governor Scott Walker, helped secure what appears to be a major upset. Conservative groups closed the race with an ad reminding voters of the Kavanaugh fight, while liberal organizations (like Eric Holder’s) tried to tie their opponent to President Trump. Also, you night think that Hillary Clinton’s 2016 loss would’ve helped Democrats internalize the lesson that, contra their own talking points and hilarious posturing, money does not necessarily “buy” elections. This outcome should reinforce that reality:

HILARIOUS: President Trump BURNS Joe Biden Over Media Scrutiny

By Breitbart. President Donald Trump ridiculed Joe Biden on Tuesday after the former Vice President received scrutiny for inappropriately touching women and children.

“It looks like the only non-sort of heavy socialist, he’s being taken care of pretty well by the socialists. They got to him,” Trump said. . .

The president commented on the controversy during remarks at the NRCC spring dinner in Washington, DC.

“I was going to call him, I don’t know him well, and say, ‘Welcome to the world, Joe. Are you having a good time?’” Trump continued. (Read more from “HILARIOUS: President Trump BURNS Joe Biden Over Media Scrutiny” HERE)

Trump taunts Biden amid misconduct allegations: ‘You having a good time, Joe?’

By The Hill. President Trump on Tuesday taunted Joe Biden after two women came forward in recent days to detail interactions with the former vice president they said involved inappropriate or unwanted touching.

Trump, speaking at a National Republican Congressional Committee dinner, sought advice from the crowd of GOP lawmakers and conservatives about his 2020 campaign slogan as he prepared to face a Democratic challenge.

“We’re going into the war with some socialists,” Trump said of the field of prospective Democratic candidates. “And it looks like the only non sort of heavy socialist, he’s being taken care of pretty well by the socialists. . .

Later in his speech, Trump again took a shot at Biden as he recalled hearing good news from a general about efforts to eliminate the Islamic State (ISIS).

“I said, “General come here. Give me a kiss.’ I felt like Joe Biden,” Trump said, prompting laughter and applause from attendees. “But I meant it.” (Read more from “Trump Taunts Biden Amid Misconduct Allegations: ‘You Having a Good Time, Joe?'” HERE)
