Who is Behind Stormy Daniel’s Lawyer? Questionable Past Emerges With Investigation, Such as Disbarment, Questions over Funding, Finances

By The Daily Caller. Much of the developments surrounding Stormy Daniels’ lawsuit again President Donald Trump have focused on the business dealings of attorney Michael Cohen, but an investigation by The Daily Caller News Foundation reveals that Daniels’ counsel, Michael Avenatti, has his own questionable history.

Avenatti’s past is littered with lawsuits, jilted business partners and bankruptcy filings. People who have worked with the lawyer described him to TheDCNF as ruthless, greedy and unbothered by ethical questions.

Dillanos Coffee CEO David Morris claimed last Tuesday that Avenatti never paid him for over $160,000 worth of coffee that Dillanos supplied to Avenatti’s company. “So @StormyDaniels hot shot lawyer Michael owes my small company @Dillanos $160,179 for coffee,” Morris wrote on Twitter. “He talks a big talk about integrity. We trusted him.”

“Michael Avenatti owned Tully’s coffee. They were a large chain of coffee shops. We are a wholesale roaster. We supplied his coffee. The $160,000 represented only a few weeks worth of beans. We cut him off when he wouldn’t pay, he had to close,” Morris explained in a subsequent tweet.

The Daily Caller News Foundation on Thursday interviewed Avenatti over the phone on several topics including Morris’s accusations, which Avenatti denied. “I don’t owe Dillanos coffee anything. I personally don’t owe them anything,” he said. “So that’s nonsense.” (Read more from “With Avenatti in the Spotlight, His Own Questionable past Emerges” HERE)

Michael Avenatti Tweets, Then Deletes, Fox News Booker’s Phone Number

By The Hill. Michael Avenatti inadvertently tweeted out a Fox News booker’s phone number on Saturday, as he sought to hit back at the network’s Tucker Carlson for an on-air rebuke.

The tweet from Stormy Daniels’s attorney came after Carlson claimed on the Friday night taping of his show, “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” that Avenatti had refused to appear on the program.

“We invited the creepy porn lawyer onto this show,” Carlson said. “We called his office — or what he said was his office. It may have been a booth at a Wendy’s in Passaic, maybe a White Castle — you never know. In any case, he turned us down flat. Too bad.”

That prompted a response from Avenatti on Saturday, who tweeted out a screenshot of an email exchange with Fox News booker Kelly McNally, according to the Observer. (Read more from “Michael Avenatti Tweets, Then Deletes, Fox News Booker’s Phone Number” HERE)

Stormy Daniels’ Attorney Faces Disbarment Complaint, Questions over Funding, Finances

By The Blaze. Stormy Daniels’ attorney Michael Avenatti is finding himself on the hot seat over a disbarment complaint and questions about who is funding him and how he obtained bank records for Trump attorney Michael Cohen, ZeroHedge reported . . .

According to the report: “Questions have emerged over who’s funding Avenatti, how he was privy to Trump attorney Michael Cohen’s bank records – and how exactly did he obtain banking transactions for two men also named Michael Cohen, who he wrongly accused in a seven-page ‘dossier’released this week.” . . .

Other questions have come to light over a bankrupt coffee chain Avenatti allegedly left with $5 million in unpaid taxes to the IRS, dozens of filed in connection with the failed venture, and $160,000 allegedly owed to a coffee vendor.

The legal complaint seeking Avenatti’s disbarment alleges that he “bought a company out of bankruptcy and then used it for a ‘pump and dump’ scheme to deprive federal and state taxing authorities of millions of dollars,” which left over $5 million in unpaid taxes to the IRS,” according to the report. The War on Cash Accelerates: This Western Nation Becomes One of the First to Ban Large Cash Transactions

The Australian government announced that it will soon be illegal to use more than $10,000 cash to purchase anything, forcing individuals who wish to buy more expensive items to use a cashier’s check or electronic transfer, ostensibly in the name of fighting organized crime and money laundering.

The move reportedly comes in response to the government’s Black Economy Standing Taskforce. In addition to the cash purchase ban, the government has allocated a $319 million package to the Tax Office to develop new strategies to target the black economy.

Treasurer Scott Morrison said the Black Economy Standing Taskforce will include a rigorous identification system and “mobile strike teams,” in an effort to detect people making suspicious cash transactions, as well as a black economy hotline for citizens to report anyone suspected of engaging in illegal transactions.

“Cash provides an easy, anonymous and largely untraceable mechanism for conducting black economy activity,” the response said. “Cash payments make it easier to under-report income and avoid tax obligations. This allows businesses transacting in cash to undercut competitors and gain a competitive advantage.”It said the task force had identified examples of “large undocumented cash payments being made for houses, cars, yachts, agricultural crops and commodities,” which contribute to the $50 billion black economy and “hurt honest businesses.”

Revenue Minister Kelly O’Dwyer said the ban on cash purchases of more than $10,000 would begin on July 1 of next year.

“This cash payment limit will capture high-value transactions and help stamp out opportunities for criminals to launder the proceeds of crime into goods and services, or for businesses to hide transactions to reduce their tax liabilities,” she said.

This of course is not a phenomenon unique to Australia, as there is an ongoing international “war on cash.” In the United States, Larry Summers, a former U.S. Treasury Secretary and Harvard president, pushed and effort during the Obama administration to abolish $50 and $100 bills. There has also been talk within the EU of doing away with the €500 note. India has already made such moves.

While the publicly stated reason for these policies is to fight criminals, terrorists, money launderers, drug dealer, etc., by making it more difficult for them to move cash, the actual reason for the international “war on cash” is to give government more control and power.

A report in The Atlantic explains that while some believe that a cashless system would be “simple and elegant,” there are ominous implications about further centralization of power that must be considered:

Federal, state, and local law enforcement, as well as tax authorities, want to bring as much of the economy under their direct supervision as possible. … Forget folks who like cash. Never mind worries about forcing us all to run all spending through a corrupt corporate-banking system. Never mind the resilience of having a medium of exchange in the non-digital world that works when the power grid is down, when one’s smart phone is dropped in water, when one’s identity is stolen by hackers, or one’s account frozen by Visa or Bank of America because a purchase on vacation was deemed suspicious.

Friedersdorf goes on to clarify how the elimination of cash could dramatically erode financial privacy; pointing to Supreme Court case U.S. v. Miller:

There is no legitimate “expectation of privacy” in the contents of the original checks and deposit slips, since the checks are not confidential communications, but negotiable instruments to be used in commercial transactions, and all the documents obtained contain only information voluntarily conveyed to the banks and exposed to their employees in the ordinary course of business.

In a report for Forbes magazine, founder Steve Forbes elaborates on this line of thinking:

The real reason for this war on cash–start with the big bills and then work your way down–is an ugly power grab by Big Government. People will have less privacy: Electronic commerce makes it easier for Big Brother to see what we’re doing, thereby making it simpler to bar activities it doesn’t like, such as purchasing salt, sugar, big bottles of soda and Big Macs.

The movement against cash is clearly about centralized control of the economy, as international bureaucrats believe they can control the global economy better than the free market.

Forbes goes on to explain:

The move to destroy cash feeds into the economic commissars’ fantasy that they can better control the economy. Policymakers in Washington, Tokyo and the EU think the reason that their economies are stagnant is that ornery people aren’t spending and investing the way they should. How to make these benighted, recalcitrant beings do what they’re supposed to do? The latest nostrum from our overlords is negative interest rates. If people have to pay fees to store their money, as they do to put their stuff in storage facilities, then, by golly, they might be more inclined to spend it. To inhibit cash hoarding—when Japan announced it was imposing negative interest rates, the sale of safes soared—the authorities will want to do away with large notes.

Of course, one of the primary purposes of the Australian government’s movement against black markets and large cash purchases comes down to lost revenue for the state. In fact, the government reported that the package against black markets could potentially net the state billions of dollars more in revenue.

So, while governments like to use fear mongering about terrorism and drugs as a means of eliciting support for policies restricting the use of cash, the real motive behind these laws is clearly to give government more power. The ability to track every transaction provides an invaluable asset to a global spying apparatus (Five Eyes) that aims to sweep up all available information with no regard for the existence of individual privacy. This is the moment a gunman’s attempted robbery on young children and families waiting outside a school in Sao Paulo was foiled by a mother who turned out to be an off-duty armed policewoman.

Security cameras outside the private school in Sao Paulo caught the dramatic moment on Saturday morning around 8am.

Military police officer Katia da Silva Sastre, 42, rounded on the gunman, identified as Elivelton Neves Moreira, 21, and surprised him by whipping out her weapon and firing three times.

David Hogg Humiliated Again After Trying to Win a Fight with NRA Spokeswoman

Another attempt by Stoneman Douglas High School mass shooting survivor David Hogg to serenade the world with his know-it-all wisdom (or the lack thereof) has epically failed.

It happened Friday after NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch smacked down a claim by late night comedian Jimmy Kimmel’s wife that there are loopholes in the federal government’s background check system:

Unwilling to just mind his business, Hogg of course injected himself in the conversation by issuing a false claim about the NRA. . .

Except that the compensation of a non-profit’s CEO has no bearing on its status as a non-profit, and plenty of non-profit CEOs earn far beyond $4.5 million annually, particularly in the healthcare industry. . .

Other non-profit CEOs earn big money as well, including Cecile Richards, the CEO of the baby-murdering factory known as Planned Parenthood:

Billboard: Get Your Guns, Pro-Impeachment Liberals

By Indy100. A pro-Trump billboard that tells liberals to ‘get their guns’ if they try to impeach President Trump has kicked off a storm on social media.

The sign, which is posted on private property in Maryland, around 30 miles from Washington, reads:

Hey liberals, better get your guns if you try to impeach President Trump. From all of your deplorables in Calvert County.

. . .

Residents of the area have had a mixed response to the sign’s message. Speaking to AB7 News, Michelle Rinker said: “I love the billboard. We’re conservative and there’s a lot of corruption that’s happened in this country and I don’t think it’s threatening.”

Other people have been less enthusiastic: “I hate that billboard,” a woman said. “I think it’s very threatening. I don’t like it at all.” (Read more from “Billboard: Get Your Guns, Pro-Impeachment Liberals” HERE)

Muslim Nations Cheer U.S. on Iran Decision

Iranian politicians burned U.S. flags and chanted “death to America” this week while Barack Obama and former members of his administration lashed out at President Trump when he announced his decision to drop the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, aka the Iran nuclear deal. . .

However, Trump is getting huge support from a coalition of Muslim nations.

That’s because the divide between the radical Muslim hierarchy in Iran and the West is not significantly larger than the divide between the radical Muslim hierarchy in Iran – and large parts of the rest of the Muslim world.

According to research from the Middle East Media Research Institute, the president’s announcement “won broad support from Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries. Saudi Arabia officially stated that it welcomed the announcement, calling it vital in light of the flaws inherent in the agreement and in light of Iran’s taking advantage of it to develop its ballistic missile program and to support terror organizations in the Middle East. The Saudi announcement also expressed hope that the international community would take a similar firm position vis-à-vis Iran.” . . .

It was the Saudi government daily Al-Riyadh’s May 9, 2018 editorial, titled “Washington Has Had Its Say,” that stated: “The announcement by the American president Donald Trump of his country’s withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal is an important historic event on the international level. Following this announcement, the agreement … became in effect a thing of the past, with the most important country’s and largest superpower’s withdrawal from it.” (Read more from “Muslim Nations Cheer U.S. on Iran Decision” HERE)

Sarah Palin Responds to John Mccain Saying He Regrets Choosing Her as VP

By The Daily Wire. On Thursday, former Alaska governor Sarah Palin responded to a New York Times report that claimed Senator John McCain said he regretted choosing Mrs. Palin as his vice presidential pick during the 2008 presidential election.

Palin told The Daily Mail the report was surprising and that it felt like a “perpetual gut-punch” every time she read it.

“That’s not what Sen. McCain has told me all these years, as he’s apologized to me repeatedly for the people who ran his campaign – some who now staff MSNBC, the newsroom there, which tells you a lot,” claimed the former governor . . .

Earlier in the week, the Times reported that McCain’s new book, “The Restless Wave,” says he regretted choosing Palin as his number two on the ticket and wished he had gone with Senator Joseph Lieberman, an Independent.

It’s possible McCain’s ghostwriter added the claim, said Mrs. Palin, since it’s so far off from what he’s told her privately. “I attribute a lot of what we’re hearing and reading regarding McCain’s statements to his ghostwriter or ghostwriters,” she said. “I don’t know all the details of his condition right now. It happens to me also where people speak for me and a bell is rung, and you can’t un-ring the bell.” (Read more from “Sarah Palin Responds to John Mccain Saying He Regrets Choosing Her as VP” HERE)

That’s Not What He Told Me! Sarah Palin Says Hearing John Mccain Say He Regrets Picking Her as His Running Mate in 2008 Is a ‘Perpetual Gut-Punch’ – and Claims He’s Told Her the Opposite

By Daily Mail. . .The onetime Alaska governor spoke to DailyMail.com in Washington before headlining a fundraising event for a Trump-friendly political action committee.

McCain’s recurring apology for her treatment at the hands of the Republican Party elites who turned their noses up at her ‘going rogue’ style, she insisted, ‘has almost been a running joke between the two of us over these years.’

‘I stop him all the time and say, “Please don’t apologize.”

There’s nothing to apologize for anyway, Palin said, since former president Barack Obama’s victory over her and McCain was basically written in the stars.

‘There were elements of a perfect storm for Barack Obama to have been elected. It worked out the way that it was supposed to work out,’ she said. (Read more from “That’s Not What He Told Me! Obama, Hillary and Kerry Rip Trump over Iran. Sarah Sanders Flattens Them with One Statement.

By The Daily Wire. On Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders took aim at the three most prominent Americans who have slammed President Trump’s decision to pull out of the Iran deal: former President Barack Obama and former Secretaries of State Hillary Clinton and John Kerry. After Obama had released a long statement filled with prevarications, Clinton had declared America’s “credibility is shot” and Kerry had intoned Trump’s decision “weakens our security, breaks America’s word” and “isolates us from our European allies,” Sanders had had enough.

Sanders fired back, “I think based on each of those individuals’ lack of success in this entire process on foreign affairs, they would probably be the last three people that we would look to for advice and counsel, and whether or not we had made the right decisions.” . . .

Kerry: “Instead of building on unprecedented nonproliferation verification measures, this decision risks throwing them away and dragging the world back to the brink we faced a few years ago. The extent of the damage will depend on what Europe can do to hold the nuclear agreement together, and it will depend on Iran’s reaction.”

Iran Warns Trump: ‘You’ve Made a Mistake’ over Nuclear Deal

By BBC. Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has addressed US President Donald Trump directly, telling him he “made a mistake” in deciding to leave a multi-country nuclear deal.

Mr Khamenei said: “I said from the first day: don’t trust America.”

He urged his government to get guarantees from European powers before agreeing to continue with the deal.

The 2015 agreement curbed Iran’s nuclear activities in return for the lifting of UN, US and EU sanctions.

It was signed by Mr Trump’s predecessor, Barack Obama, between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council – the US, UK, France, China and Russia – plus Germany. (Read more from “Iran Warns Trump: ‘You’ve Made a Mistake’ over Nuclear Deal” HERE)

Here’s How Many Americans Are Now Saying Mueller’s Investigation Is ‘Politically Driven’

By The Blaze. The CBS poll says that 53 percent of Americans now say that the Mueller investigations are “politically motivated,” a charge that President Trump has made repeatedly to discredit the probe. . .

This is a significant change from the same poll questioned administered in December, when 48 percent of Americans called it “politically motivated,” and 46 percent said it was “justified.”

In the intervening months, the offices and residence of the president’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen have been raided after a criminal referral by Mueller. Paul Manafort, the former manager of the Trump campaign, was also raided by the FBI.

A majority of Americans, (53 percent) believe Trump should be questioned, while 42 percent believe he shouldn’t. But, even in this measure, fewer Americans believe in the validity of the Mueller probe. . .

Earlier Tuesday, Stormy Daniels’ lawyer Michael Avenatti released an astounding accusation against Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen, saying that he had received money from a Russian oligarch after he made the payment to the adult film star. Lawyer Sentenced in Mueller Probe Reports to Prison: Report

By The Hill. A Dutch lawyer who pleaded guilty to lying to investigators examining Russia’s role in the 2016 presidential election has reported to a federal prison to serve out his sentence.

Alex van der Zwaan, 33, arrived at a low-security federal prison near Allenwood, Pa., according to a Politico report.

He was sentenced last month to a $20,000 fine and 30 days in prison, and is expected to be released on June 4, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons’s website.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons did not immediately respond to The Hill’s requests for comment, nor did the prison, FCI Allenwood Low, where van der Zwaan is serving out his sentence.

In reporting to prison, van der Zwaan becomes the first person charged in special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe to be incarcerated. (Read more from “Lawyer Sentenced in Mueller Probe Reports to Prison: Report” HERE)

Farmer Charged with Shooting Intruder… Floored by Unexpected Surprise in Courtroom

According to CTV News, a farmer from a rural area near Calgary fired a shotgun at intruders who were prowling on his property in February. It worked: The suspects fled, and one was later found with a non-life-threatening shotgun injury to his arm. . . .

Government officials want to make an example out of the farmer, but when he arrived at court Friday, he was faced with something neither he nor prosecutors likely expected: a crowd of residents who came to support the landowner and his right to protect his family . . .

“Why do the criminals have all the rights? It doesn’t seem fair to me,” explained one supporter. “They’re telling us that if we live in the country that we should get gates and lock them. We become prisoners on our own land because of criminals.”

In an increasingly litigious time, Americans — and Canadians, for that matter — must know what the law in their area says about the use of force. There are many misconceptions and myths about defense law, and the time to become educated is before a self defense situation arises.

We cannot comment on Canadian law, but many states in the U.S. stipulate that there must be an imminent threat of bodily harm or death for a firearm to be used in self defense. Though Maurice may have been morally right to defend his property from prowlers, the jury is still out — if you’ll pardon the expression — on whether he was legally justified.
