Bernie ‘Courageously’ Talks Population Control; Is Joe Biden Okay? (VIDEO); Trump Blasts CNN for Ignoring ‘Facts’ on Climate

By Breitbart. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) told CNN’s climate change town hall attendees Wednesday night that he is willing to talk about population control, suggesting that abortion is key to addressing the climate crisis.

“Human population growth has more than doubled in the last 50 years,” an attendee told Sanders, adding that the planet cannot sustain such growth.

“I realize this is a poisonous topic for politicians but it’s crucial to face. Empowering women and educating everyone on the need to curb population growth seems a reasonable campaign to enact,” the attendee continued. . .

“The answer is yes,” Sanders said, arguing that population control – in the form of abortion and birth control, specifically – is something he “very, very strongly” supports. . .

“So I think especially in poor countries around the world, where women do not necessarily want to have large numbers of babies and where they can have the opportunity to birth control to control the number of kids they have is something I very, very strongly support,” he added. Joe Biden’s Eye Fills with Blood While Onstage During Climate Town Hall

By Breitbart. Former Vice President Joe Biden’s left eye filled with blood while he was onstage Wednesday during a CNN town hall on climate change, apparently from a burst vessel.

Biden was in the middle of speaking when his eye appeared to fill with blood, and he seemed not to notice.

The incident instantly gained attention on social media.

Trump Blasts CNN for Ignoring ‘Facts’ on Climate Ahead of 2020 Forum

By The Hill. President Donald Trump blasted CNN Wednesday afternoon just ahead of its climate-focused Democratic presidential forum, arguing it would likely ignore key “facts.”

“8 FACTS that #FakeNewsCNN will ignore in tonight’s ‘Climate Forum,'” Trump said in a series of tweets.

The president went on to list points defending the role his administration has played in cleaning the country’s air and reducing emissions, echoing similar talking points he made during his July White House speech on America’s energy leadership.

“1. Which country has the largest carbon emission reduction? AMERICA! 2. Who has dumped the most carbon into the air? CHINA! 3. 91% of the world’s population are exposed to air pollution above the World Health Organization’s suggested level. NONE ARE IN THE U.S.A.!” he said in the thread. . .

He also warned that the Democrats’ various climate plans would all lead to increases in energy bills and gasoline costs. (Read more from “Trump Blasts CNN for Ignoring ‘Facts’ on Climate Ahead of 2020 Forum” HERE)

Top Trump Aide Says THIS Candidate Poses Biggest 2020 Threat; Women Voters Spell Trouble for Trump in 2020

By Fox News. Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., was the scariest would-be opponent for President Trump’s reelection bid, one of the president’s top campaign officials has reportedly said.

“The one who scares me the most in the general is Kamala Harris,” the official said. Described by The Washington Times as a “key player” in Trump’s campaign, the official said Harris was the “least flawed” Democratic hopeful in the crowded field of presidential aspirants,

“The top candidates are all flawed candidates, but the least flawed is Kamala Harris,” the official reportedly said. . .

August polling has shown Harris trailing at least a few other candidates, including Biden, but she has consistently ranked among the top contenders and was floated as a potential choice for vice president.

She’s also shown that she’s willing to call the former vice president out in her race to the top. The former prosecutor saw a bump in the polls after she made Biden’s controversial comments about race personal at the first Democratic primary debate. Women Voters Spell Trouble for Trump in 2020

By The Hill. Polls show President Trump losing women voters by huge margins, presenting his reelection campaign with a massive hurdle to overcome as he seeks a second term in office.

Perhaps most alarmingly for Trump, the president is losing support from the white women who were pivotal to his electoral success in 2016.

Exit polls and post-election studies found Trump outperforming Democrat Hillary Clinton among white women in 2016, a statistic that the president cites on the campaign trail to combat the notion that he’s struggling with a widening gender gap in support.

But recent polling indicates that the same white female voters who propelled Trump to victory in 2016 might send him to defeat in 2020 if current trends hold.

A Quinnipiac University survey released Wednesday found Trump trailing the top five Democratic contenders by between 9 points and 16 points overall, with each leading the president by 23 points or more among all women. (Read more from “Women Voters Spell Trouble for Trump in 2020” HERE)

Another 2020 Candidate Just Dropped Out; Trump Mocks: ‘She was the one I was really afraid of’

By Daily Wire. On Wednesday afternoon, Democratic New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand announced that she has dropped out of the 2020 presidential race.

“Today, I am ending my campaign for president,” Gillibrand said in an announcement posted on Twitter and first reported by The New York Times. “I am so proud of this team and all we’ve accomplished. But I think it’s important to know how you can best serve. To our supporters: Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Now, let’s go beat Donald Trump and win back the Senate.”

“I wanted you to hear it from me first, that after more than eight incredible months, I’m ending my presidential campaign,” the senator says in the video announcement. “I know this isn’t the result we wanted. We wanted to win this race. But it’s important to know when it’s not your time, and to know how to best serve your community and country. I believe I can best serve by helping to unite us to beat Donald Trump in 2020.”

Gillibrand’s decision to drop out of the race comes amid a series of polls showing her trailing far behind the front-runners, failing to earn above 1% of the Democratic vote in many recent primary surveys. (Read more from “Another 2020 Candidate Just Dropped Out” HERE)

Trump Mocks Kirsten Gillibrand as She Exits 2020 Race: ‘She Was the One I Was Really Afraid of’

By Fox News. President Trump had some fun at the expense of Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., after she announced on Tuesday that she was withdrawing from the 2020 presidential race, suggesting that she was the candidate he’d feared most.

Gillbrand exited the Democratic primary after the latest batch of polls did not help her qualify for the September debate. She was among several candidates who fell short of the 130,000-donor threshold and failed to reach 2 percent in four separate polls. . .

Joe Biden Falls: National Poll Has Bad News for the Democrat

A Monmouth University Poll released Monday revealed a massive shift in the Democrat primary race, showing Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), and former Vice President Joe Biden (D) in a statistical three-way tie.

The poll, taken August 16–20 among 800 U.S. adults, shows both Warren and Sanders tying with 20 percent support, followed by Biden – the longheld frontrunner – who dropped to third place with 19 percent support. With a +/- 5.7 percent margin of error, the three are statistically tied. This spells trouble for the Biden campaign and signals, as Monmouth suggests, that the “2020 presidential nomination process may be entering a volatile stage”:

The poll finds a virtual three-way tie among Sanders (20%), Warren (20%), and Biden (19%) in the presidential nomination preferences of registered Democrats and Democratic-leaning voters across the country. Compared to Monmouth’s June poll, these results represent an increase in support for both Sanders (up from 14%) and Warren (up from 15%), and a significant drop for Biden (down from 32%).

The poll did not show any major shakeups among the remaining candidates. Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) maintained her fourth place position with eight percent support, followed by Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), Mayor Pete Buttigieg (D), and Andrew Yang, (D) with four percent, four percent, and three percent, respectively. Julián Castro (D), Beto O’Rourke (D), and Marianne Williamson (D) all garnered two percent. The remaining candidates saw once percent support or less.

The biggest takeaway from Monmouth’s poll, of course, is Biden’s fall. According to the survey, the former vice president is losing ground among key demographics, including black voters, white voters, and women. Much of his lost support is evenly distributed between Warren and Sanders. (Read more from “Joe Biden Falls: National Poll Has Bad News for the Democrat” HERE)

‘Unfit Con Man’: Ridiculous Hypocrite Joe Walsh Challenges President Trump for 2020 GOP Nomination

Conventional wisdom holds that when a sitting president is running for re-election and faces a challenger from his own party, that president is in trouble. So, of course, the pundits and anti-Trump political activists are thrilled that Joe Walsh, a conservative talk radio host and former Republican congressman, announced his candidacy for the GOP 2020 presidential nomination over the weekend, declaring President Trump “unfit” for office.

It’s true that incumbent presidents who face primary challenges tend to lose re-election. When LBJ faced two strong primary challengers in 1968, he saw the writing on the wall and withdrew his candidacy. Ronald Reagan challenged President Ford in 1976, and though Ford won the primary, he lost the general election. Democrat Ted Kennedy primaried President Carter in 1980, and Carter lost to Reagan. Should President Trump be worried about this one-term congressman with a history of controversial remarks who was a fierce Trump supporter in 2016 but now describes the president as an “unfit con man” who “spews hate virtually every time he opens his mouth”?

In a word, no. Past one-term presidents had credible primary challengers. Trump does not.

Joe Walsh is not a serious candidate for president, and no serious person thinks he has chance to beat Trump. The Joe Walsh most Americans are familiar with played guitar on the 1977 smash Eagles hit “Hotel California.” Joe Walsh the politician and radio host is perhaps best known nationally for posting provocative messages on his Twitter account. Some of those more controversial remarks are drawing new scrutiny from the leftist media, because running for president exposes more filth than a colonoscopy. The Washington Post describes Walsh’s past comments with the harshest, most condemning word in the paper’s rhetorical arsenal: “Trumpian.”

All this from a guy who told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos over the weekend that Trump is “nuts,” “erratic,” and “cruel” and that he “stokes bigotry.” And to disarm inevitable accusations of hypocrisy, Walsh apologized for his own tweets and his prior outspoken support for the president.

“I helped create Trump, there’s no doubt about that, the personal, ugly politics,” he said. “I regret that and I’m sorry for that.”

Is this an apology of convenience now that Walsh is running for president? Republican primary voters will decide. But don’t expect Walsh to put a dent in President Trump’s 79 percent approval rating among the GOP loyal by repeating mainstream media talking points about how orange man is bad and says mean things. Walsh has no base of support to launch a challenge to Trump that might be even slightly annoying, let alone viable, using that tactic. The voters who are persuaded by arguments about Trump being a “racist” or Trump encouraging “hate” are voting for the other team. Twenty other people over in that clown car Democratic primary have already said everything Walsh said in his opening salvo against the president, not to mention that’s the narrative force-fed to Americans by the mainstream media every day since Trump announced his candidacy in 2016. Republican voters hate hearing about it, and one more Republican agreeing with the Left’s attacks on Trump won’t persuade any of them.

Walsh and the NeverTrumpers expressing support for the idea of a primary challenge argue Republicans are loyal to Trump mostly because they don’t have an alternative. Walsh’s message fails on its face, because on the one hand he says, “I’m the alternative to a man unfit for office because he constantly says ridiculous things,” and on the other hand, Walsh is someone who is unfit for office because he constantly says ridiculous things.

Who, exactly, is the “unfit con man?” (For more from the author of “‘Unfit Con Man’: Ridiculous Hypocrite Joe Walsh Challenges President Trump for 2020 GOP Nomination” please click HERE)

Here’s Why 2020 Dems Are Dropping Like Flies

On Friday, Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.) — Seth who? — will become the fourth candidate to drop out of the race for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination. In fact, three candidates dropped out in the past two weeks: former Gov. John Hickenlooper (D-Colo.), current Gov. Jay Inslee (D-Wash.), and now Moulton. Americans can expect to see more Democrats throw in the towel as August 28 approaches. . .

The top three candidates: former Vice President Joe Biden and Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) have qualified for the September debates, along with seven others. Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) has taken a tumble in the polls and now ranks with Pete Buttigieg, mayor of South Bend, Ind., in a middle tier above the lower tier of candidates. . .

Some 2020 Democrats have left the race for greener pastures or to shore up their current positions. Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), the first too drop out back in July, faced a serious primary challenger for his House seat. Moulton faces three Democratic challengers. Hickenlooper jumped into Colorado’s U.S. Senate race a mere week after dropping out of the presidential race.

People don’t just run for president because they want to sit in the Oval Office. A presidential run gives an ambitious politician — or non-politician — a tremendous public platform. Millions of Americans watch the debates, candidates receive a great deal of media coverage, and many of them ink lucrative book deals. Former candidates often score cabinet positions or ambassadorships — or jobs in the media. These ulterior motives help explain why the Democratic primary is packed to the gills. . .

Most likely, Moulton won’t be the last candidate to drop out before the September debates. In fact, he likely won’t be the last to drop out before August 28. At this point in the race, it’s more costly to stay in than to drop out. (Read more from “Here’s Why 2020 Dems Are Dropping Like Flies” HERE)

Tea Party Republican Mulling Primary Challenge Against President Trump; 2020 Candidates Starting to Drop; The Thrill Is Gone? Dems Seem Bored with Their Presidential Candidates

By The Blaze. Tea Party Republican and former Illinois congressman Joe Walsh is considering a primary challenge against President Donald Trump, and the now-talk radio host says if he does announce a run, “it’s going to be before Labor Day.” . . .

The New York Times reported Wednesday that Walsh “is expected to announce he is running for president as early as this weekend.” He told The Times, “If I do it, it’s going to be before Labor Day.”

Walsh went from passionately supporting President Trump’s candidacy in 2016 to regularly — and adamantly — speaking out against the president and calling him “unfit” for the office. The former congressman from Illinois told WTTW-TV this week that the turning point for him came when President Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2018. . .

(Interview begins at 4:45):

But Walsh has a tough row to hoe in presenting any significant threat to President Trump according to the current political landscape, where the president enjoys strong polling numbers from Republican voters and the “undivided” support of the Republican National Committee. . .

So far, one Republican is formally challenging President Trump in the primary. Former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld threw his hat in the ring earlier this year, after running as the Libertarian Party’s vice presidential nominee in the 2016 election. Climate Alarmist Candidate Jay Inslee Drops Out of 2020 Presidential Race

By PJ Media. Gov. Jay Inslee (D-Wash.) announced he was dropping out of the 2020 presidential race on Wednesday. Having decided to make his presidential campaign all about climate change, Inslee found himself in a race packed to the gills with far-left climate activists just as radical as he is. He made many desperate gambits for attention, like calling President Trump a “white nationalist” (fact check: false) and hinting that he would prosecute fossil fuel executives for murder.

“This show has been so good to me, this has been sort of the bookends of my campaign,” Inslee told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow. “It’s become clear that I’m not going to be carrying the ball. I’m not going to be president, so tonight I’m withdrawing from the race.”

Inslee insisted he would keep fighting climate change like he had been doing for 25 years, and he did not endorse a fellow candidate in the race. (Read more from “Climate Alarmist Candidate Jay Inslee Drops Out of 2020 Presidential Race” HERE)

The Thrill Is Gone? Dems Seem Bored with Their Presidential Candidates

By PJ Media. It’s a long way down from “Hope and Change” to “Succumb to the Inevitable,” but that’s the level of excitement generated by the 2020 Dem contenders. Sad!

Jonathan Easley writes for The Hill that “soft levels of support mark this year’s Democratic primary” and is the defining feature of this year’s frontrunners, “even after an intense focus on the race by the national media.” You can shine a light on Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, and Elizabeth Warren, but it seems you can’t make any of them shine. . . .

What does all this voter confusion mean for the candidates themselves? Kamala Harris, once thought to be the youngish/intersectional/progressive alternative to Biden, now faces a “crossroads” in a campaign that has “lost steam” in recent weeks. Bernie Sanders, whose support seems to have softened since his electrifying (well, if you’re into that kind of thing) 2016 effort? He’s now punching down, as it were, at Harris, and also at Elizabeth Warren. Edward Hardy writes for The Independent that “the increase in attacks clearly reveals that Sanders and his campaign team are concerned” with softening poll numbers. . .

If electability is the goal, then where is the money, the oil that fuels every campaign? The Daily Caller reported yesterday that DNC chair Tom Perez “will hold three fundraisers for American ex-patriots [sic] in Mexico, as Democrats struggle to keep pace with Republicans in fundraising.” Just make sure they’re all genuine Americans, Tom, because taking campaign funds from foreigners is wrong… and something Democrats would never, ever do. Wink-wink, nudge-nudge. . .

So who passes the electability test? I know it’s early, but if I had to put my money on just one candidate, it would have to be Donald Trump. (Read more from “The Thrill Is Gone? Dems Seem Bored with Their Presidential Candidates” HERE)

New Poll Shows Clear Winner of Second Democratic Debates — and a Very Big Loser

A new poll from Quinnipiac University shows one candidate clearly gaining from her performance at the second Democratic debates, while another losing a lot of support.

The poll released on Tuesday showed that Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) got a jolt in support from the debate, with an increase of 6 percentage points from 15 percent to 21 percent, putting her in second place.

Former Vice President Joe Biden lost 2 percentage points of support, but still retains the top spot with 32 percent in the Quinnipiac poll.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) also did well, with an increase of 3 percentage points from 11 percent before the debate, to 14 percent after the debate.

The big loser, according to the poll, was Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), who slipped to fourth place after losing 5 percentage points from 12 percent to 7 percent. (Read more from “New Poll Shows Clear Winner of Second Democratic Debates — and a Very Big Loser” HERE)

Revealed: Google’s Agenda to Beat Trump in 2020

By Fox News. A former Google engineer who claims he has been blacklisted by the tech giant says he believes the company will try to influence the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.

“They really want Trump to lose in 2020. That’s their agenda,” Kevin Cernekee said Friday on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight.” . . .

Cenekee was fired in June 2018 after Google told him he was terminated for misuse of the company’s equipment, including its software system for remote access. However, Cernekee, who describes himself as a whistleblower, maintains he was terminated for his outspoken conservative views.

The former Googler told the Wall Street Journal that, after his posts to the tech giant’s internal message boards in early 2015 annoyed some of his colleagues, he received an official warning from Google’s human resources department. His conduct had reportedly been deemed “disrespectful and insubordinate.” . . .

Cernekee spent the next three years fighting the Mountain View, Calif.-based firm over the alleged violations and arguing that conservative employees were being treated unfairly, according to the report, which cites interviews, documents and copies of posts on the company’s internal message boards. Begala: Democrats Setting Themselves up to Lose to Trump by Running Far to the Left in Primary

By Real Clear Politics. Democratic operative, Clintonworld insider and CNN political contributor Paul Begala said Thursday that Joe Biden should have defended the Obama administration’s record on deportations and Sen. Kamala Harris shouldn’t have been afraid to defend her record as a prosecutor and an attorney general at the Democratic presidential primary debate on Wednesday.

“When Bill de Blasio said this about deportations, the vice president should have said, ‘some people need to be deported,'” Begala advised. “In the Obama administration, the president targeted people who were violent, people who committed felonies while they’re here and, yes, some people who lied on their applications but that’s a crime too.”

Begala warned that Democrats are moving to the left to win the primary only to set themselves up for a general election loss against President Donald Trump.

“I believe many of these candidates seeking to win the nomination are setting themselves up to lose the presidency to Donald Trump,” Begala told CNN host Jake Tapper. (Read more from “Begala: Democrats Setting Themselves up to Lose to Trump by Running Far to the Left in Primary” HERE)

Dem Debate: Biden Does Better, but He Really Isn’t Very Good at This

Two days and nearly six hours of live coverage later, we are finally through with July’s round of the Democratic debates. Republicans’ first televised forum of the last cycle came toward the end of the first week of August 2015. As we enter that same month in the current cycle, Democrats have already had four debates. It’s all too early, both debates were too long, and there were far too many candidates involved. That will all finally start to change before the next battle arrives in September, thanks to more stringent qualification thresholds. As for last night, my quick reactions were as follows:

Joe Biden is, and will remain, the frontrunner — at least for the time being, and perhaps for the distance. He was flat-out bad in Miami, but was better prepared last evening, helping him survive quite a lot of incoming fire. He counter-punched here and there, blunting and parrying certain attacks more effectively than he did last time. But I’m just going to say it: To me, he really reads like a genial old man who’s past his prime, and might be on the verge of being well past his prime. He is not sharp. He is not quick. He uses filler words and labors to organize his thoughts and sentences. He stops talking mid-sentence when his time has expired, almost as if he’s relieved that he doesn’t have to keep going. It’s entirely conceivable that he will be considered the safest and most viable choice for the Democrats, will lead wire to wire, and will be nominated. It’s also conceivable that he could be underwhelming as a general election candidate in some significant ways, yet still win.

But once again, despite his relative improvement, Biden’s overall performance — setting ideology completely aside — would not give me confidence about entering a bruising general election slog with him at helm. It’s a feeling I had watching him last month, and I just felt it again. Even the flubs during his closing statement (“eight more years” of Trump, and the text message debacle) invoked images of an aging actor who couldn’t remember his lines, and a grandparent who doesn’t understand texting. It feels a bit mean and unseemly typing those words, frankly, but it’s right in front of us, yes? I’m not alone in seeing these things, right?
