Pro-Life Advocate Abby Johnson Responds to Rating for Film

Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood clinical director who is now a well-known pro-life activist, is reportedly “unconcerned” that the controversial new movie about her life, “Unplanned,” has received an R-rating from the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA.)

“We are pushing the boundaries of what has never been before on such a wide scale by showing America exactly what abortion is — and abortion is disturbing. It’s violent,” 38-year-old Johnson told Fox News in a written statement.

“In my opinion, one of the most impactful films of our time is ‘The Passion of the Christ.’ It was rated R. So I feel like ‘Unplanned’ is in good company. An R rating from the MPAA isn’t going to slow this movie down. I believe people are ready for the truth.”

Pure Flix is the company responsible for the production and distribution of the anti-abortion film, which is scheduled to be released on March 29. Though the filmmakers admit to having been initially surprised by the MPAA’s rating of the film, they also told Fox News that they’re not too concerned about it. . .

“I feel the fix is in,” [Investor Mike] Lindell told Fox News. “Whoever rated this movie must not be watching TV or videos on social media! I have a cameo in this movie and do not appreciate the R-rating. I got involved to get a message out to everyone with this true story. What a shame that some might be blocked by an R-rating from getting the truth. I hope millions of Americans will ignore this attempt at moviegoer suppression and flood the box office on opening day.” (Read more from “Pro-Life Advocate Abby Johnson Responds to Rating for Film” HERE)

Democrats Block Republicans From Saving Infants BORN ALIVE From Botched Abortions

By Daily Wire. On Monday evening, Senate Democrats blocked their Republican counterparts from protecting infants born alive after botched abortion procedures. The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which is sponsored by Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE), failed to pass the Senate with a vote of 53-44, seven votes shy of the required 60. . .

“This bill amends the federal criminal code to require any health care practitioner who is present when a child is born alive following an abortion or attempted abortion to: (1) exercise the same degree of care as reasonably provided to any other child born alive at the same gestational age, and (2) ensure that such child is immediately admitted to a hospital,” reads the legislation.

“The term ‘born alive,'” the bill explains, “means the complete expulsion or extraction from his or her mother, at any stage of development, who after such expulsion or extraction breathes or has a beating heart, pulsation of the umbilical cord, or definite movement of voluntary muscles, regardless of whether the umbilical cord has been cut.” . . .

DeSanctis noted: “All six of the Democratic senators currently running for the 2020 presidential nomination voted against the bill: Cory Booker (N.J.), Sherrod Brown (Ohio), Kirsten Gillibrand (N.Y.), Kamala Harris (Calif.), Amy Klobuchar (Minn.), and Elizabeth Warren (Mass.), along with Independent Bernie Sanders of Vermont.”

Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski, representing Alaska, declined to vote on the bill. According to DeSanctis, Republican senators Tim Scott (SC) and Kevin Cramer (ND) did not vote on the bill due to flight delays, per their communications directors. Dems Block ‘Born Alive’ Bill to Provide Medical Care to Infants Who Survive Failed Abortions

By Fox News. Senate Democrats on Monday blocked a Republican bill that would have threatened prison time for doctors who don’t try saving the life of infants born alive during failed abortions, leading conservatives to wonder openly whether Democrats were embracing “infanticide” to appeal to left-wing voters.

All prominent Democratic 2020 presidential hopefuls in the Senate voted down the measure, including Bernie Sanders of Vermont, Kamala Harris of California, Cory Booker of New Jersey, Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts. The final vote was 53-44 to end Democratic delaying tactics — seven votes short of the 60 needed.

Three Democrats joined Republicans to support the bill — Joe Manchin of West Virginia, Bob Casey of Pennsylvania and Doug Jones or Alabama. Three Republicans did not vote, apparently because of scheduling issues and plane flight delays — including Kevin Cramer of North Dakota, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Tim Scott of South Carolina. . .

The bill, which exempted the mother involved in the birth from prosecution, also would have required practitioners to “ensure that the child born alive is immediately transported and admitted to a hospital.” It prescribed a possible term of imprisonment of up to five years for violations, not including penalties for first-degree murder that could have applied. 13 States Plus D.C. Where a Teenage Girl Can’t See an R-Rated Movie About Abortion — but Can Get One by Herself

There are actually places in the U.S. where teenagers not old enough to see an R-rated pro-life movie by themselves can get abortions without parental involvement.

Pro-lifers have been pushing back against the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) since it gave a surprise R rating to the upcoming film “Unplanned” last week. The movie’s story focuses on Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood clinic director who became pro-life after being confronted with the truth while assisting with an ultrasound-guided abortion. The MPAA cited “some disturbing/bloody images” as the reason for the restrictive rating.

The R rating means that children under the age of 17 across America will not be able to see the movie in their local theater by themselves. But according to Planned Parenthood’s own website, there are 13 states (and one district) where a teenage girl could get an abortion by herself after being turned away at the box office:

Alaska

California

Connecticut

The District of Columbia

Hawaii

Maine

Nevada

New Jersey

New Mexico

New York (where a girl could now also get an abortion right up till birth)

Oregon

Vermont

Washington

Of course, abortion is a gruesome, violent act. In this video (warning: Disturbing content may be unsuitable for some audiences), a former abortionist describes (with diagrams and illustrations) a second-trimester surgical abortion. A movie that discusses the taking of an innocent child’s life in utero (especially through a graphic, ultrasound-guided procedure) isn’t exactly something you’d take younger kids to see.

But if a staged abortion is too violent and “disturbing” for a teenager to see by herself, then why in the world would our laws let her get the real thing without talking to their parents first? That’s the brave new world of “reproductive freedom” for you. (For more from the author of “13 States Plus D.C. Film Industry Gives R-Rating to ‘Unplanned’ Film About Pro-Life Conversion

The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) gave the soon to be released film “Unplanned” an R rating, citing “some disturbing/bloody images.” MPAA states on its website that the R-rating (Restricted) means that the film cannot be viewed in theaters by anyone under the age of 17 unless there is an “accompanying parent or adult guardian.” The film tells the story of former Planned Parenthood manager Abby Johnson’s pro-life conversion.

“UNPLANNED is an ‘R’ rated film which has no MPAA cautions for profanity, nudity, sex or violence … except for violence directly associated with the abortion process,” said writers/directors Cary Solomon and Chuck Konzelman, reported Movieguide.

“Ironically, the MPAA seems to be indirectly endorsing the pro-life position: namely that abortion is an act of violence,” they added. They do not plan to contest the rating. . .

“Even more ironically, as a result of the MPAA’s decision to give us a ‘Restricted’ rating, many teenage women in this country who can legally obtain an actual abortion without parental permission will be prohibited from going to see our film containing simulated images of abortion, without obtaining parental permission,” they said.

“We are pushing the boundaries of what has never been before on such a wide scale by showing America exactly what abortion is — and abortion is disturbing. It’s violent,” said Abby Johnson, whose life and true story the film is based upon. “No one will walk away from seeing this movie and say ‘I didn’t know.'”

House Passes a Staggering Abortion Bill – Here’s What It Says

By The Blaze. The Vermont House voted to pass a staggering bill that would allow abortion at any stage of pregnancy and for any reason whatsoever.

Critics say the legislation is more expansive of abortion rights than the extremist bills passed in New York and Virginia.

“Every individual who becomes pregnant has the fundamental right to choose to carry a pregnancy to term, give birth to a child, or to have an abortion,” the bill reads. . .

The bill would also strip unborn children of any rights or recognition of their personhood by the state.

“A fertilized egg, embryo, or fetus shall not have independent rights under Vermont law,” it reads. (Read more from “House Passes a Staggering Abortion Bill – Here’s What It Says” HERE)

Vermont House Passes Bill Legalizing All Abortion

By National Review. The Vermont House voted this evening to pass H57, which would legalize abortion at any stage of pregnancy and for any reason. “Every individual who becomes pregnant has the fundamental right to choose to carry a pregnancy to term, give birth to a child, or to have an abortion,” the bill states.

The bill was co-sponsored by 90 Democratic legislators and passed by a vote of 106-36.

This legislation is far more radical than the recent expansion of late-term abortion in New York, as well as the proposed expansions in Virginia and Rhode Island. Those bills allow abortion for any reason up to viability and essentially allow for abortion up to birth, creating “health” exceptions that are often loosely interpreted to permit abortion on demand after viability as well.

Rather than crafting health exceptions like these that amount to tacit permission for post-viability abortion, the Vermont bill offers a blanket permission slip for any and all abortion, throughout pregnancy, and for any reason. And not only that, but the bill text contains a provision dehumanizing unborn children: “A fertilized egg, embryo, or fetus shall not have independent rights under Vermont law.” (Read more from “Vermont House Passes Bill Legalizing All Abortion” HERE)

Watch: Abortion Worker Reveals Chilling Way Baby Will Die If Born Alive

A horrific undercover video released by the pro-life group Live Action this week reveals an abortion clinic worker telling a woman that her baby would be drowned in a jar of “solution” if it were born alive during the procedure.

According to LifeNews, Live Action filmed the video as part of an undercover investigation in 2013 and circulated it once again this Wednesday as Congress debates a bill to protect newborn babies from infanticide.

“Our investigators exposed this New York abortion facility, which says they will put a born-alive baby in a jar of ‘solution’ to drown her,” Live Action founder Lila Rose tweeted Wednesday. “They also say to ‘flush’ the baby down the toilet, or ‘put it in a bag’ if she’s born alive.”

The 2013 investigation had an undercover activist seek an abortion at 23 weeks of pregnancy at Emily’s Women’s Center in the Bronx. This was before New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed into law legislation that allowed women to obtain an abortion for any reason up until birth. See video:

The abortion worker tells the undercover woman in the video that abortion on a six-month-old fetus would be a two-day procedure; if the baby were born alive at any point, it could be drowned, suffocated, or poisoned. Louder With Crowder Goes Undercover to Get the Gruesome Truth About Late-Term Abortion in America

The Louder with Crowder team went undercover to expose the realities of late-term abortion in America.

In the episode titled “UNDERCOVER: Late-Term Abortion Clinic Exposed!,” Mariel, a woman in her 25th week of pregnancy, and her unborn daughter, Rose, go into an abortion clinic in Colorado, where late-term abortions have been legal for years.

While there, Mariel meets Patient X, a woman who says she has come in for an abortion in her eighth month of pregnancy. In the waiting room, the two discuss Patient X’s reasons for seeking the abortion. Then they discuss what the clinic staff has told Patient X about the procedure.

“Well, you essentially walk around for three days with a dead baby in your stomach,” Patient X relays at one point during the conversation.

“What if you get sepsis?” she continued. “I wrote like my concerns and I kind of asked the doctor and he kind of like, kind of shoved it off like it was no big deal.”

How New York’s Radical Abortion Law Will Hurt Preemies and People With Down Syndrome

Last week, a spokesperson for the Queens district attorney’s office announced that a New York man accused of stabbing his pregnant girlfriend to death repeatedly in the abdomen and neck would not be charged with second-degree abortion due to the repeal of that statute in the recently passed Reproductive Health Act (RHA), which expanded abortion access to the point of birth in the state.

Not an ounce of the justice due to the unborn child of Jennifer Irigoyen will be sought, all because pro-death officials elected by New Yorkers have succeeded in their mission to define all pre-born human life in their state as disposable non-persons.

Pro-lifers often criticize pro-choice language as myopically, disingenuously focused on “a woman and her doctor.” We assert that a child is involved, too––a child who is being killed. We point out the value of pre-born life and “the mother-child bond,” but in our zeal for saving pre-born babies from abortion, we often unwittingly restrict our focus to what happens in the surgical room of abortion clinics and the doctors’ offices that prescribe abortifacients. . .

Women have been pressured to abort babies with abnormalities or difficult pregnancies to the point of others scheduling the abortion without their express consent and trying to scare them with all the potential problems their child may face. They face this pressure because abortion has become the first “solution” to the problem of a difficult pregnancy, simply because it is legal and ostensibly more convenient and less expensive than giving birth and trying to potentially raise a disabled child, or trying to balance cancer treatment with preserving the baby’s health.

The tragedy doesn’t even end at the deaths of pre-born babies with abnormalities––the effect of killing off the vast majority of certain populations, as Denmark and the Netherlands have done with Down Syndrome, is a drastic decrease in quality of life for the few who are allowed to live due to scarce resources and an ever-increasing pressure for women to abort a baby with that diagnosis. If nearly every baby of a certain diagnosis is aborted, there is little incentive to develop treatments and therapy for those conditions, much less make them affordable. These are the consequences of legal abortion. (Read more from “How New York’s Radical Abortion Law Will Hurt Preemies and People With Down Syndrome” HERE)

Doctors Called Mom ‘Inhumane’ for Refusing to Abort Her Twins. Now They’re Thriving.

By Life Site News. A mother has spoken out about how doctors called her inhumane when she ignored numerous attempts to get her to abort her twin boys.

Hannah Morris was urged to terminate her pregnancy when her waters broke at just 16 weeks. She was diagnosed with preterm premature rupture of the membranes (PPROM), and told that neither baby had any chance of survival. . .

She describes being pressured to have an abortion. “They said, ‘no, there was a 100 per cent chance that this baby won’t survive, you need to have to have some medicine to induce labour, it’s your only option’. I didn’t want to do that. My gut was telling me not to follow the advice. . .

At a follow-up appointment at the hospital, a doctor told her that if the babies got to 24 weeks, their limbs would be stuck together and their vital organs wouldn’t be functional. “[They said] I was only causing them more pain by carrying on with the pregnancy,” Ms Morris says. “We were considering at this point terminating the pregnancies because this was coming from top consultants.” . . .

Despite the negative medical advice, Ms Morris made it to 34 weeks and had a c-section. George was born first weighing 5lb 4oz and Alfie followed at 4lb 1oz. They both spent four days in the NICU, but despite Alfie being born with holes in his heart and George suffering a weakened immune system due to his premature birth, both toddlers are now healthy and thriving. Doctors Told Me I Was Inhumane for NOT Aborting My Boys – but My Instinct Was Right, I Have Healthy Twins

By The SUN. . . .Against all medical advice, Hannah made it to 34 weeks and had a c-section.

George was born first weighing 5lb 4oz and Alfie followed at 4lb 1oz – both spending four days in NICU.

Despite Alfie being born with holes in his heart and George suffering a weakened immune system due to his premature birth, both toddlers are now healthy and thriving.

Hannah said: “Taking our boys home was amazing. Just to know that we were right and that we had made the right decision by our children.

“They had defeated all the odds and they were strong, healthy little boys. They are now so cheeky and you look at them and think, wow, you nearly weren’t here. (Read more from “Doctors Told Me I Was Inhumane for NOT Aborting My Boys – but My Instinct Was Right, I Have Healthy Twins” HERE)

The Senate Will Vote on Ben Sasse’s Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act

On Thursday night, Senator Ben Sasse, R-Neb., announced that the Senate will hold a roll call vote for the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act on Monday, February 25.

The bill is a response to the recent law passed in New York, which allows late-term abortions up to the point of delivery. Sasse’s bill would require physicians to provide medical care to infants born alive despite abortion procedures — to “fight for the little guy,” Sasse said — as Conservative Review has previously reported.

On January 30, Virginia Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam defended a bill similar to New York’s, going so far as to say that the mother and physician would have a “discussion” post-delivery to determine whether or not the baby would be saved. His remarks sparked huge backlash from many conservatives for endorsing infanticide and motivated Sen. Sasse to present this legislation.

The seven-page bill has been berated by Senate Democrats for overstating the issue. They claim infanticide is already illegal and blocked Sasse’s initial request for unanimous consent to pass the bill.
