U.S. Airstrike Takes Out ‘Imminent ISIS-K Threat’ Targeting Kabul Airport

A US drone strike took out multiple suicide bombers as part of an “imminent ISIS-K threat” to the Kabul airport Sunday as officials raced against the clock to wrap up evacuation efforts in Afghanistan, US officials said.

The strike successfully knocked out a vehicle packed with a “substantial amount of explosive material,” Capt. Bill Urban, spokesman for the US Central Command, said in a statement.

“U.S. military forces conducted a self-defense unmanned over-the-horizon airstrike today on a vehicle in Kabul, eliminating an imminent ISIS-K threat to Hamad Karzai International airport,” Urban said. “We are confident we successfully hit the target.”

“Significant secondary explosions from the vehicle indicated the presence of a substantial amount of explosive material,” he added. (Read more from “U.S. Airstrike Takes Out ‘Imminent ISIS-K Threat’ Targeting Kabul Airport” HERE)

House Republicans Introduce Articles of Impeachment Against Secretary of State Blinken

Two Republican congressmen have introduced articles of impeachment in the House of Representatives against Secretary of State Antony Blinken, citing “failures of planning, execution, and leadership in Afghanistan.”

Reps. Andy Harris (R-Md.) and Ralph Norman (R-S.C.) on Friday blamed Blinken for the “loss of American lives” and endangerment of “countless other American and allied lives” after a suicide bomb attack at Kabul’s international airport killed 13 U.S. service members and dozens of Afghans. An Afghanistan affiliate of ISIS took credit for the blast, which killed more than 100 people in total.

The terrorist attack and American casualties were the latest developments in what Harris called an “unmitigated catastrophe” in Afghanistan after President Joe Biden’s administration began withdrawing U.S. troops from the region. Biden’s officials were caught by complete surprise on Aug. 15 when the Taliban seized the capital Kabul and the Western-backed Afghan government and army collapsed, placing the Islamic militants in control of the country. . .

The articles of impeachment single out the State Department for promising in April that the American Embassy in Kabul could be kept open and operational for more than 1,400 American citizens in Afghanistan after U.S. troops completed their planned withdrawal, and then failing to keep that promise.

“Secretary Blinken has failed to faithfully uphold his oath and has instead presided over a reckless abandonment of our nation’s interests, security, and values in his role in the withdrawal of American forces and diplomatic assets from Afghanistan,” the articles of impeachment state. Pompeo Responds to Biden’s Attempt To Blame Trump for Afghanistan Failure

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Friday pushed back on the Biden administration for blaming the Trump administration’s Taliban deal for the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan. Pompeo said the Trump administration had a “conditions-based” agreement with the Taliban which was not the same as the plan pursued by President Biden.

MIKE POMPEO: We were clear with the Taliban that we had this understanding–but you were going to live up to it. And we had a conditions-based withdrawal plan and we executed that. We were down from about 15,000 to a little over 2,500. And for the last 13 months of our administration, we didn’t have a single American attacked or a single American killed.

U.S. Marine Jared Schmitz, 20-Years-Old, Killed in Kabul Terrorist Attacks

United States Marine Jared Schmitz, 20-years-old, has been named as one of 13 U.S. service members who was killed in Thursday’s terrorist attacks in Kabul, Afghanistan.

As Breitbart News reported, the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISIS-K) claimed responsibility for two suicide bombings in Kabul that killed 10 U.S. Marines, one U.S. Navy medic and another two service members, along with at least 90 others and has left at least 150 others wounded.

Among those killed was Schmitz of Wentzville, Missouri, who had been deployed to Kabul from Jordan on his first deployment as a Marine. Schmitz recently graduated high school in 2019 and became a Marine in 2020.

Schmitz’s father, Mark Schmitz, told FOX2 Now that his son always wanted to join the U.S. Armed Forces to defend his country.

President Biden Crumbles Under Pressure From Reporter After Tough Talk on Terrorists; Biden Admits Americans Will Be Left Behind; Report: U.S. Provided Taliban With List of Americans and Afghan Allies

By Breitbart. President Joe Biden tried to sound tough to the terrorists who killed 13 American soldiers on Thursday but crumbled in real time when challenged by White House Fox News reporter Peter Doocy.

“We will not forgive. We will not forget. We will hunt you down and make you pay,” Biden said, reading his speech from his teleprompter.

After his speech, Biden took questions, calling on a list of preapproved reporters given to him from his staff. He ultimately called on Doocy, describing him as “the most interesting guy in the press.”

Doocy ask Biden if he would take responsibility for the deaths of the 12 American troops and his chaotic and deadly exit from Afghanistan.

Biden said he did take responsibility but pointedly noted to Doocy that it was former President Donald Trump who made the withdrawal deal with the Taliban. (Read more from “Biden Crumbles Under Pressure From Reporter After Tough Talk on Terrorists” HERE)

Joe Biden Admits Americans Will Be Left Behind in Afghanistan After Withdrawing Troops

By Breitbart. President Joe Biden tacitly admitted Thursday that some Americans in Afghanistan would remain in the country even after troops were withdrawn on August 31.

“We will continue, after our troops are withdrawn, to find means by which we find any American who wishes to get out of Afghanistan,” Biden said.

The president said his military commanders told him the mission to get Americans and Afghan allies out of Afghanistan by the deadline would succeed. (Read more from “Joe Biden Admits Americans Will Be Left Behind in Afghanistan After Withdrawing Troops” HERE)

Report: U.S. Provided Taliban With List of Americans and Afghan Allies

By Washington Examiner. U.S. officials reportedly provided the Taliban with a list of people to grant entry to at Hamid Karzai International Airport — a decision with potentially deadly consequences.

With the U.S. military relying on the Taliban to conduct the outer security of the airport where evacuations have been taking place for the last two weeks, officials provided the militant group with a list of American citizens, green card holders, and Afghan allies approved for evacuation, according to Politico .

The Pentagon declined to comment. The goal behind sharing the names with the Taliban was to expedite the process at the airport.

The decision could ultimately cost lives, as the Taliban have a history of murdering Afghans who have worked with the United States and Western countries. The militant group has already begun going door to door looking for Afghans who worked with the U.S. or the former Afghan government.

“Basically, they just put all those Afghans on a kill list,” one defense official told the outlet. “It’s just appalling and shocking and makes you feel unclean.” (Read more from “Report: U.S. Provided Taliban With List of Americans and Afghan Allies” HERE)

Trump Releases Statement on Loss of U.S. Service Members

Twelve U.S. service members and at least 60 Afghans were killed in the terrorist attacks near the Kabul airport on Thursday. Former President Donald Trump declared that the loss of service members “should never have been allowed to happen.”

Trump released a statement on the suicide attacks near Hamid Karzai International Airport in Afghanistan that also wounded 15 U.S. service members and 143 Afghans.

“Melania and I send our deepest condolences to the families of our brilliant and brave Service Members whose duty to the U.S.A. meant so much to them,” Trump said. “Our thoughts are also with the families of the innocent civilians who died today in the savage Kabul attack.

“This tragedy should never have been allowed to happen, which makes our grief even deeper and more difficult to understand,” the former president added. “May God Bless the U.S.A.” . . .

Trump said the Biden administration made “some horrible, stupid decisions” in the past week and a half during the U.S. withdrawal, the worst being “allowing our military to leave before the civilians and before we get all of our equipment back, $83 billion dollars. GOP Demands Biden Resign

Republican lawmakers quickly reacted to the reports of terror outside the Kabul airport in Afghanistan, where thousands of American citizens and allies remain stranded as the Biden administration aims to stick to the Taliban’s August 31 deadline, concluding President Biden’s “incompetence has now cost American lives.”

Pentagon press secretary John Kirby confirmed an explosion outside the Hamid Karzai International Airport on Thursday morning, affirming that the attack resulted “in a number of US & civilian casualties.” . . .

Republican lawmakers flooded social media, offering their prayers as well as sharp critiques of Biden, whom many blame for the chaos that led to the tragic display of violence Thursday morning, costing American lives.

“As a veteran who served in Afghanistan, my heart breaks for the families of the American servicemembers and the Afghan people who are learning this morning that their loved ones have been harmed or killed in a terrorist attack. My wife Amanda and I are praying and grieving with them,” Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) said in a statement.

You Don’t Need To Go to Kabul To See the End of American Order. It’s Right Here Among Us

The nation’s attention these past two weeks has focused nearly exclusively on Kabul, and rightly so given that the city has become the scene of the largest hostage situation in American history and a vivid image of the decline of Pax Americana abroad.

But Americans don’t need to travel 7,500 miles to get a first-hand glimpse of the end of American order. In many of our own country’s major cities, gangs of masked thugs and criminals do what they please — and our far-better-armed police aren’t allowed to stop them and protect the rest of us.

Take one August Sunday in Portland, Oregon, where two days ago political gangs roamed freely, beating people, including women, and even opening fire downtown. Meanwhile the police, who have been threatened with government action if they intervene, were nowhere to be seen.

The breakdown of law and order was crafted in the offices of politicians, and its results are as immediate as they are sickening: A beautiful port city is now a frequent host to pitched battles between masked and helmeted left- and right-wing mobs spanning across city blocks; paintballs, pepper spray, fireworks, and beatings in broad daylight; and while innocent civilians flee the violence under a cloudy gray sky, the only sounds audible are of rioting — with nary a police siren in the distance.

It’s long not been safe to be a reporter in Portland: Just Sunday, Antifa targeted independent journalist and photographer Maranie Staab. “You f-cking endangered people by flying to f-cking Colombia and endangering everyone by opening them up to COVID, you little slut,” one masked and armored man screamed at Staab, referring to her June reporting on violence in South America.

The Afghanistan Debacle Is Exposing President Biden’s Descent Into Unreality; ISIS Poses New Threat in Afghanistan

By The Federalist. Americans are stranded in Afghanistan. That’s a fact. You don’t have to have special military clearance to know it, or access to classified information, or be in contact with Americans in Kabul or elsewhere in Afghanistan. All you have to do is follow the news. . .

So when White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki “called out” Fox News’s Peter Doocy on Monday for asking about these stranded Americans, and said there are no Americans stranded in Afghanistan, she was lying. And everyone knows it.

This kind of blatant dissimulation has become a disturbing pattern. By any measure, President Biden’s Afghanistan withdrawal has devolved into an unprecedented and embarrassing disaster that seems to get worse by the day. But instead of acknowledging what news reports and social media clearly show — Americans stranded, deadly chaos at the airport, Afghans rushing the gates — the Biden administration is displaying an inability or unwillingness to answer questions or even talk about the evacuation in a way that’s tethered to reality. . .

It remains unclear, too, whether the Taliban can retain adequate control over Kabul over the next seven days to prevent attacks on U.S. troops or civilians from other armed groups, including ISIS, which is reportedly in the area.

If they can’t, and Americans are attacked and killed in Kabul or elsewhere, will Psaki stand before the cameras and claim otherwise? Maybe, but it’s more likely she and every other White House official will emphasize how well the evacuation went off, how many people they flew out in however many hours, and what a smashing success, really, this whole thing has been. ISIS in Afghanistan Poses Threat Against Crowds Outside Kabul Airport

By CNN. Concerns about security around Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul have increased based on “a very specific threat stream” from ISIS-K about planned attacks against crowds outside the airport, a US defense official has told CNN.

The US believes ISIS-K, which is a sworn enemy of the Taliban, wants to create mayhem at the airport and has intelligence streams suggesting it is capable and planning to carry out multiple attacks, according to the official.

The US Embassy in Kabul advised US citizens at a number of gates at the airport to “leave immediately,” noting “security threats outside the gates.”

“Because of security threats outside the gates of Kabul airport, we are advising U.S. citizens to avoid traveling to the airport and to avoid airport gates at this time unless you receive individual instructions from a U.S. government representative to do so,” the alert said. CNN: Biden ‘Should Be Congratulated’ for Doing ‘Extremely Good Job’ on Afghanistan Evacuations (VIDEO)

CNN guest and political commentator Matthew Dowd has been one of the growing liberal voices to say President Joe Biden should be praised for his handling of the chaotic and last-minute evacuations from Kabul in the aftermath of the Taliban taking over Afghanistan.

According to Dowd, Biden was given a difficult situation to begin with and he has handled it well, despite the multiple deaths at Hamid Karzai International Airport and the increasing prospect American citizens will be left behind after the U.S. military withdraws from the city on August 31.

“He was dealt a horrible situation and as of today, he’s done an extremely good job in the situation. There were many people over the last seven days that said there is no possible way he could get 50,000 people out. No possible way and that was the number of people who thought had to get out. He’s got 70,000 people in the last eight days. 70,000 people out of Afghanistan in the last days and I actually think the President from what he was dealt and done over the course of the last week, should be congratulated on the way this was done,” Dowd, who used to be a Republican strategist, said.
