Al Sharpton Rejects Buttigieg Claim That Being Gay Is Like Being Black

Al Sharpton credited Sen. Kamala Harris for her criticism of Mayor Pete Buttigieg’s claim that he can better understand black Americans because he is gay.

Buttigieg, 37, has struggled to earn support from black voters in key early states like South Carolina during his presidential campaign. He has argued, however, that his sexuality helped him to understand the feeling of oppression often felt by black Americans because gay men have not always had equal rights either.

“While I do not have the experience of ever having been discriminated against because of the color of my skin, I do have the experience of sometimes feeling like a stranger in my own country, turning on the news and seeing my own rights come up for debate, and seeing my rights expanded by a coalition of people like me and people not at all like me,” Buttigieg said during the CNN debate earlier this month.

That argument has been destroyed by many prominent black Americans, including his 2020 Democratic competitor Harris. After the debate, she told CNN, “What he did on the stage, it’s just not productive, and I think it’s a bit naive.”

Sharpton, a racial activist and MSNBC host, commended Harris’s response, telling the Washington Post this week, “I think Kamala had a point, and I understood what she was saying.” He said he appreciates the effort Buttigieg is making in the black community and admitted that he is “evolving,” but said the South Bend, Indiana, mayor still has a long way to go. Al Sharpton Turns Aretha Franklin’s Funeral Political, Steals Limelight Like Only He Can

By Conservative Tribune. As the world mourned the passing of a great American musical icon, Aretha Franklin, Al Sharpton used the opportunity to turn her funeral into a political spectacle. And, of course, the target of his comments was President Donald Trump. . .

He continued, “When word went out that Ms. Franklin passed, Trump said she used to work for me. No, she used to perform for you. She worked for us. Aretha never took orders from nobody but God.” . . .

Trump’s apparent gaffe came on Aug. 16, the day Franklin died from pancreatic cancer at the age of 76.

“I want to begin today by expressing my condolences to the family of a person I knew well. She worked for me on numerous occasions. She was terrific — Aretha Franklin — on her passing,” Trump said during a cabinet meeting.

“She’s brought joy to millions of lives and her extraordinary legacy will thrive and inspire many generations to come. She was given a great gift from God — her voice, and she used it well. People loved Aretha. She was a special woman. So just want to pass on my warmest best wishes and sympathies to her family.” (Read more from “Al Sharpton Turns Aretha Franklin’s Funeral Political, Steals Limelight Like Only He Can” HERE)

Aretha Franklin funeral eulogy slammed; pastor stands firm

By AP. A fiery, old-school pastor who is under fire for saying black America is losing “its soul” at Aretha Franklin’s funeral stands firm by his words with the hope critics can understand his perspective.

Rev. Jasper Williams Jr. told The Associated Press in a phone interview Sunday he felt his sermon was appropriate at Franklin’s funeral Friday in Detroit. He felt his timing was right, especially after other speakers spoke on the civil rights movement and President Donald Trump.

“I was trying to show that the movement now is moving and should move in a different direction,” he said. “… What we need to do is create respect among ourselves. Aretha is the person with that song ‘R-E-S-P-E-C-T’ that is laid out for us and what we need to be as a race within ourselves. We need to show each other that. We need to show each other respect. That was the reason why I did it.” (Read more from “Aretha Franklin funeral eulogy slammed; pastor stands firm” HERE)

Al Sharpton Misspells Famous Aretha Franklin Song: ‘R-E-S-P-I-C-T’

By The Daily Caller. Rev. Al Sharpton accidentally botched the spelling of Aretha Franklin’s famous song “Respect” while paying tribute to the late singer during his MSNBC show on Sunday.

Sharpton, the host of “PoliticsNation,” was criticizing President Donald Trump for calling former White House staffer and “Apprentice” contestant Omarosa Manigault Newman a “dog,” asserting that “sometimes the dog bites back.” . . .

Sharpton closed the segment by quoting perhaps Franklin’s most well-known song, 1967’s “Respect,” but he didn’t echo Franklin’s correct spelling of the song’s title. . .

“So in the words of my late friend Aretha Franklin, show some R-E-S-P-I-C-T, and the next time you get a black woman and a beagle confused, remember this: I got you,” Sharpton said proudly. (Read more from “Al Sharpton Misspells Famous Aretha Franklin Song: ‘R-E-S-P-I-C-T’” HERE)

Al Sharpton Misspells Aretha Franklin’s ‘Respect’ in Swipe Against Trump

Here’s the Weird Reason Michael Cohen Asked to Have a Meeting With Al Sharpton

Al Sharpton told MSNBC’s Ali Velshi about his meeting with Michael Cohen, the former lawyer of President Donald Trump, on the day that it was leaked that he had record tapes of Trump talking about payments to a Playboy model. . .

In the interview on MSNBC, Sharpton said that he had known Cohen for a long time because he had often reached out to Donald Trump about civil rights issues before he became president.

“I had happened to run into him several weeks ago,” Sharpton explained, “we just spoke to each other, because I’ve known him down through the years, whenever we’ve had differences with Mr. Trump on social justice issues and have different, I would say combative kind of meetings, Michael Cohen who was the one who would arrange the meeting, he was the one who would try to get all sides together. Usually unsuccessfully, but he always was a straight honest kind of person.” . . .

“He was very very adamant that he was opposed to some of the things Mr. Trump was doing,” he added, “like attacking the media, he felt that that was wrong. And it was a very very serious Michael Cohen that I met with this morning, about he was in a situation he feels, he was unfairly thrust upon.”

Sharpton said that the very fact that Cohen could have met with countless other people but reached out to him was a signal to President Trump. He also said that Cohen wanted to make it clear that he was acting independently from the president, and that he wanted to do the right thing for the country and for his family. Sharpton Just Put out a Shocking Call to Black Churches Nationwide – It Could Be His Most Dangerous Work Yet

downloadIf the Rev. Al Sharpton has his way, black American Christians will help Iran and President Obama get what they want.

“I am calling on ministers in black churches nationwide to go to their pulpits Sunday and have their parishioners call their senators and congressmen to vote yes on the Iran nuclear plan,” Sharpton said last week in his weekly Saturday rally in New York City.

Sharpton claimed black churches have a unique interest in the agreement.

“We have a disproportionate interest, being that if there is a war, our community is always disproportionately part of the armed services, and that a lot of the debate is by people who will not have family members who will be at risk,” Sharpton said. Despite Sharpton’s claim, official documents report that, as of 2014, the U.S. armed forces are 30.7 percent non-white.

Sharpton’s latest call continues a strong pro-treaty position on the part of black lawmakers. In July, Israel’s ambassador to the United States, Ron Dermer, met with more than 30 members of the Congressional Black Caucus in an effort to get them to oppose the Iran deal. The responses were not positive.

“Is that the Republican guy from Florida?” Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., reportedly laughed when asked if he had met with the ambassador. “We had a long talk.” (Read more from “Sharpton Just Put out a Shocking Call to Black Churches Nationwide – It Could Be His Most Dangerous Work Yet” HERE)

Pastor Calls Sharpton out When He Asks for Money in Church: ‘You’re Nothing but a PIMP!’

A black pastor fed up with charlatan Al Sharpton called out the race hustler as a “pimp” during anti-violence rally Saturday in Connecticut.

And oily Al promptly proved the man’s point by acting just like one, according to news reports.

According to CT News Junkie and Fox CT, the scene unfolded at Shiloh Baptist Church in Hartford where an overwhelmingly black crowd had marched in an anti-violence rally following the deaths of four people in a spate of shootings since mid-May . . .

In the church, Sharpton was challenged from the pews by the Rev. Marcus Mosiah Jarvis, pastor of Christ the Cornerstone Praise and Western Tabernacle church, CT News Junkie reported.

“How dare you ask the people of Hartford to give you their money?” Jarvis shouted. “You’re nothing but a pimp!” (Read more from “Pastor Calls Sharpton out When He Asks for Money in Church: ‘You’re Nothing but a PIMP!'” HERE)

Celebrations Begin in Baltimore as Some React to Officers’ Charges [+video]

celebrationsBy CBS Baltimore. Cheers erupted as City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby announced that charges were being filed against the six officers involved in the apprehension, arrest and death of Freddie Gray. That feeling of elation reverberated through the streets of Baltimore, and especially the Penn-North neighborhood that was the scene of Monday’s riots, as residents applauded the decision to indict.

The scene of Pennsylvania and North avenues was much different than it was Monday, with crowds gathering in joy as opposed to disgust. There was jubilation at almost all four corners of the street, and at times some of the celebrants have taken over the eastbound roads of North Avenue.

People could be seen giving each other high-fives and hugging, while others simply lined the sidewalks to take in the chorus of car horns that blared repeatedly.

One Baltimore resident named Joe was overcome with his elation as he told WJZ’s Mike Schuh why he came to the intersection at North and Pennsylvania Avenue to celebrate.

“The city is phenomenal right now. Right now, it’s like Baltimore, thank you for listening, thank you for everyone constantly protesting for the betterment of the good. Everyone that’s being negative needs to stop being negative, it’s so simple as smiling at a baby, to let go of the nonsense,” he said. “It’s awesome, it’s super great.” (Read more from “Celebrations Begin in Baltimore as Some React to Officers’ Charges” HERE)

Watch: Al Sharpton Gets In Physical Confrontation With Fox News Reporter

download (1)Fox News reporter Leland Vittert got into a heated — and eventually physical — confrontation with activist and MSNBC host Al Sharpton, when the latter tried to keep him from questioning Democratic Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake.

“We can’t ask questions?” Vittert challenged her. “You are a public official and we can’t ask questions?” . . .

At the press conference, we will answer all questions,” Sharpton said. But as Vittert kept tailing them, a second man stepped between the reporter and the mayor and began pushing him away . . .

Ironically, Vittert said later that one question he didn’t get to ask Rawlings-Blake was whether or not she ordered Baltimore police not to respond to Monday’s riots with force. (Read more from “Watch: Al Sharpton Gets In Physical Confrontation With Fox News Reporter” HERE)

12-year-old-owns-al-sharpton-youCJ Pearson, a young black conservative making a name for himself online, has a message for Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and the nation’s other professional race baiters: “If you really care about black people, you would empower black people.”

“You’re only in this business to make money, to achieve fame,” the young man says. “But we don’t want you, Al. We don’t want you, Jesse Jackson. We don’t want any of you because you’re not for us, and you’re not right.”

Pearson goes on to chide Sharpton, Jackson, et al. for characterizing tragedies such as the murder of Walter Scott as racially motivated when the events should be universally recognized as miscarriages of justice.
