AOC Says Capitalism Is an ‘Irredeemable’ System, but It Eradicates Global Poverty While Socialism Creates It

In an onstage interview at the South by Southwest Conference (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., jumped back into the headlines by calling capitalism “irredeemable.”

“Capitalism is an ideology of capital – the most important thing is the concentration of capital and to seek and maximize profit,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “So to me capitalism is irredeemable.”

The line pushes the 28-year-old self-described socialist’s message, of course; it’s the same gross mischaracterization of free markets that has been floating around since Karl Marx first decided to blame all of this fallen world’s problem on people with more money than him. (For a better understanding of how the profit motive guides human activity, read the landmark 1958 essay on trade and economics “I, Pencil.”)

But to describe free markets in moral terms, why don’t we just take a look at what they’ve done for the developing world and see how “irredeemable” things are?

According to numbers from the World Bank, between 1990 and 2010, despite the increased world population during the same period, the number of people living in extreme poverty, defined as an income of less than $1.90 per day, adjusted for inflation over time, worldwide was cut in half.

Even more remarkable, extreme poverty during the time period between 1970 and 2010 declined around 80 percent. During that time, the world certainly hasn’t grown more socialist by any measure. “It was globalization, free trade, the boom in international entrepreneurship,” said former AEI president Arthur Brooks in 2012. “In short, it was the free enterprise system, American style, which is our gift to the world.”

Looking specifically to the African continent, 2017 analysis from the Competitive Enterprise Institute found that not only have market-empowering innovations been crucial to increases in overall GDP, but that more economic freedom would be key to continued growth.

Historically, by contrast, case studies show that Ocasio-Cortez’s economic system of choice has been far more successful at creating widespread poverty than eradicating it. The most prominent currently is the ongoing man-made disaster in Venezuela.

“Economic growth has not eliminated all poverty, and it will never solve all the problems of the human heart,” explained Cato Institute executive vice president David Boaz in 2016. “But understanding the enormous increase in world standards of living over the past three centuries and the past 25 years should be a starting point for any discussion of further progress.” (For more from the author of “AOC Says Capitalism Is an ‘Irredeemable’ System, but It Eradicates Global Poverty While Socialism Creates It” please click HERE)

WATCH: Ocasio-Cortez Slams Americans, Calls Them Garbage

By The Blaze. Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said that “where we are” as Americans amounts to “garbage” during an appearance at the South By Southwest Conference & Festivals (SXSW). . .

“What’s really hard for people to sometimes see is that we are on this path of a slow erosion, and a slow slow slow just like — move away from what we’ve always been,” Ocasio-Cortez began by explaining how she feels that America has moved away from what it should be. “You won’t even realize that you’ve drifted a hundred miles.”

She then appeared to suggest that her Democratic Socialist policies represent core American values, arguing that we had just strayed so far from them that we couldn’t recognize them anymore. “So when someone’s talking about ‘our core,’ they’re like, ‘oh, this is radical,’ but it isn’t radical. This is what we’ve always been,” she said.

“I think all of these things sound radical compared to where we are,” she concluded, “but where we are is not a good thing. And this idea of like, ten percent better than garbage, it shouldn’t be what we settle for.” (Read more from “Ocasio-Cortez Slams Americans, Calls Them Garbage” HERE)

Ocasio-Cortez: In U.S., ‘If You Don’t Have a Job, You Are Left to Die’

By The Daily Caller. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said Saturday that in the United States, “if you don’t have a job, you are left to die.”

Ocasio-Cortez, who made the remark at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas, added that “we should not be haunted by” the possibility of automated workers replacing jobs, according to The Verge.

“We should be excited by that. But the reason we’re not excited by it is because we live in a society where if you don’t have a job, you are left to die. And that is, at its core, our problem,” added the congressman, whose Green New Deal proposal includes a federal jobs guarantee. BACKLASH: Ocasio-Cortez Gets Roasted for Promoting False Attacks on CPAC

Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) promoted completely false attacks on CPAC on Tuesday in an attempt to divert attention off of the continued anti-Semitism scandal that has engulfed fellow far-left Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN).

“Amid the string of anti-Semitic statements, House Democrats are now planning on formally rebuking Omar (though they may not end up actually naming her in the rebuke), which has triggered Omar’s fellow freshman and radical Democrat Ocasio-Cortez to come to her defense,” The Daily Wire reported. “The plan to call out Omar, Ocasio-Cortez suggested in tweets Tuesday, is “hurtful” because such reprimands supposedly aren’t consistently brought for other offenses against minorities.” . . .

Ocasio-Cortez promoted misleading content that featured Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. speaking at an event in 2015.

“‘I always thought that if more good people had concealed carry permits, then we could end these Muslims before they [unintelligible],'” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted, as she falsely quoted what Falwell said. “This was just this weekend at CPAC, the conference attended by the President and members, to 1000s. Where’s the resolution against Islamophobia?”

This entire tweet from Ocasio-Cortez is factually false and the fact that she refused to take it down after receiving intense backlash is an indictment of her character. (Read more from “BACKLASH: Ocasio-Cortez Gets Roasted for Promoting False Attacks on CPAC” HERE)

Could Ocasio-Cortez Be Facing Jail Time?

By The Daily Caller. Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her chief of staff Saikat Chakrabarti obtained majority control of Justice Democrats PAC in December 2017, according to archived copies of the group’s website, and the two appear to retain their control of the group, according to corporate filings obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation. If the Federal Election Commission (FEC) finds that the New York Democrat’s campaign operated in affiliation with the PAC, which had raised more than $1.8 million before her June 2018 primary, it would open them up to “massive reporting violations, probably at least some illegal contribution violations exceeding the lawful limits,” former FEC commissioner Brad Smith said.

Ocasio-Cortez never disclosed to the FEC that she and Chakrabarti, who served as her campaign chair, controlled the PAC while it was simultaneously supporting her primary campaign, and former FEC commissioners say the arrangement could lead to multiple campaign finance violations. The group backed 12 Democrats during the 2018 midterms, but Ocasio-Cortez was the only one of those to win her general election.

“If the facts as alleged are true, and a candidate had control over a PAC that was working to get that candidate elected, then that candidate is potentially in very big trouble and may have engaged in multiple violations of federal campaign finance law, including receiving excessive contributions,” former Republican FEC commissioner Hans von Spakovsky told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

And fellow former FEC commissioner Brad Smith told TheDCNF that if “a complaint were filed, I would think it would trigger a serious investigation.” He also noted that such a probe could potentially result in jail time for Ocasio-Cortez and her chief of staff, Chakrabarti. . .

Ocasio-Cortez and Chakrabarti could face prison if the FEC determines that they knowingly and willfully withheld their ties between the campaign and the political action committee from the FEC to bypass campaign contribution limits, according to Smith. Ocasio-Cortez Says She ‘Breaks Fourth Wall’ and Responds to Attacks to ‘Squash’ Them Early

By The Hill. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) says that she quickly responds to attacks she receives on social media because of the “bad-faith” charges once leveled at individuals like former President Obama.

“I grew up seeing these attacks on [Speaker] Nancy Pelosi. I grew up with these attacks on Barrack Obama. I grew up even with these bad-faith attacks on Hillary Clinton,” the freshman congresswoman said in an interview with Spectrum News NY1 released on Monday. “And so we know what’s going and I feel like what I’ve chosen to do is break this fourth wall a little bit and respond to them.”

Ocasio-Corteaz justified her argument by pointing to the “birther movement” that started as Obama became president.

BOMBSHELL: Ocasio-Cortez’s Top Aide Funneled $1+ Million in Political Donations

Saikat Chakrabarti, the brains behind socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) who also serves as her chief of staff, allegedly funneled over $1 million in political donations to his own private companies, according to a new complaint filed with the Federal Election Commission.

“Chakrabarti’s companies appear to have been set up for the sole purpose of obscuring how the political donations were used,” The Washington Examiner reported. “The arrangement skirted reporting requirements and may have violated the $5,000 limit on contributions from federal PACs to candidates, according to the complaint filed by the National Legal and Policy Center, a government watchdog group.” . . .

Tom Anderson, the director of the National Legal and Policy Center’s Government Integrity Project, told the Examiner: “It appears Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her associates ran an off-the-books operation to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars, thus violating the foundation of all campaign finance laws: transparency.”

This latest development comes after a report last week revealed that Ocasio-Cortez’s new “living wage” rule that she implemented for her staff allows her staff to “avoid public transparency laws that would require them to reveal outside income, gifts, and stock trading activity,” the Washington Examiner reported. . .

“She ended up moving into a luxury apartment building with a wide array of amenities where rent for even a studio apartment exceeds $2,000 a month,” the Free Beacon reported. “Her office pushed back against the notion that it was hypocritical for Ocasio-Cortez, who has made housing affordability one of her top policy concerns, to move into a luxury building. A spokesman pointed out that her office also uses a car with an ‘internal combustion engine that runs on fossil fuels,’ even though she thinks their use should be eliminated.” (Read more from “BOMBSHELL: Ocasio-Cortez’s Top Aide Funneled $1+ Million in Political Donations” HERE)

‘POMPOUS LITTLE TWIT’: Greenpeace Co-Founder Unloads on Ocasio-Cortez

Patrick Moore, the co-founder of Greenpeace, slammed socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) on Saturday for being a hypocrite over living a lifestyle that does not align with her extremist views on climate change.

Moore, who has a Ph.D. in ecology, called out Ocasio-Cortez after she mocked a New York Post article that highlighted her numerous flights and car travel — which are things she attacked in her Green New Deal.

“I also fly & use A/C Living in the world as it is isn’t an argument against working towards a better future,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “The Green New Deal is about putting a LOT of people to work in developing new technologies, building new infrastructure, and getting us to 100% renewable energy.”

Moore fired back: “The “world as it is” has the option of taking the subway rather than a taxi. option of Amtrak rather than plane, option of opening windows rather than A/C. You’re just a garden-variety hypocrite like the others. And you have ZERO expertise at any of the things you pretend to know.”

‘UGLY RACIST TWEET’: Ocasio-Cortez Slammed for Promoting Bigotry

Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez faced backlash this week after she came to the defense of fellow far-left Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) on Twitter following racial remarks that Tlaib made during a House Oversight Committee hearing. . .

“Just because someone has a person of color, a black person, working for them does not mean they aren’t racist and … the fact someone would actually use a prop, a black woman in this chamber, in this committee is alone racist in itself,” Tlaib said as she took aim at Meadows.

Ocasio-Cortez responded by tweeting: “Total bravery from @RashidaTlaib as she reminds the nation that tokenism *is* racism.”

The Reagan Battalion: “This is an ugly racist tweet. Assuming that a woman of color is too stupid to know what she wants and she is being used as a ‘token’ is racist.”

Ocasio-Cortez Hit With MASSIVE Complaint

The Coolidge Reagan Foundation filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) on Wednesday alleging that socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) may have illegally funneled money to her boyfriend through an allied PAC.

Fox News reports that the group alleges “in their complaint that when the Brand New Congress PAC (BNC) — a political arm of Brand New Congress LLC, a company that was hired by Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., to run and support her campaign — paid Roberts for marketing services, it potentially ran afoul of campaign finance law.”

The complaint highlighted a report from earlier in February by Luke Thompson, who “published an article entitled ‘The Congresswoman Loves the Swamp. Her Wealthy Chief of Staff Used a PAC to Pay Her Boyfriend,’ on Medium, which parses FEC records to reveal evidence Ocasio-Cortez funneled money from her official campaign account to her boyfriend, Riley Roberts.”

The complaint added: “The timing and amounts of these transactions, the use of two affiliated entities as intermediaries, the vague and amorphous nature of the services Riley ostensibly provided, the magnitude of these transactions compared to both the limited funds the campaign had raised at the time and the total amount of its expenditures, and the romantic relationship between Ocasio-Cortez and Riley collectively establish reason to believe these transactions may have violated campaign finance law.” (Read more from “Ocasio-Cortez Hit With MASSIVE Complaint” HERE)

Meat-Bashing AOC Lashes out at Man Who Took Pic of Burger-Eating Aide

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., lashed out at an anonymous shutterbug who “creepily” snapped a picture of her at a restaurant with an aide who was feasting on a juicy burger — an image that soon made the rounds on social media, as it was taken days after she questioned whether Americans needed to eat so much meat.

“Tonight a dude was creepily (and obviously) taking a picture of me while pretending he wasn’t and I had to break his imaginary fourth wall and say ‘Hi! I’m a person! This is weird!’” she tweeted.

The picture, posted by conservative social media strategist Caleb Hull, showed Ocasio-Cortez and Chief of Staff Saikat Chakrabarti eating at an unidentified restaurant. Notably, Chakrabarti was munching on a burger, just days after Ocasio-Cortez had warned against eating too much of America’s favorite dish.

In talking up her Green New Deal, which had initially come with an FAQ that talked (presumably tongue-in-cheek) about “getting rid” of “farting cows” to help combat climate change, Ocasio-Cortez said on a TV appearance that Americans may need to eat fewer burgers.

“In the deal, what we talk about, and it’s true, is that we need to take a look at factory farming, you know? Period. It’s wild,” Ocasio-Cortez said on Showtime’s late-night “Desus & Mero” last week. “And so it’s not to say you get rid of agriculture, it’s not to say we’re gonna force everybody to go vegan or anything crazy like that. But it’s to say, ‘Listen, we gotta address factory farming. Maybe we shouldn’t be eating a hamburger for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.’ Like, let’s keep it real.” (Read more from “Meat-Bashing AOC Lashes out at Man Who Took Pic of Burger-Eating Aide” HERE)

WATCH: Ocasio-Cortez Gets Compared to ‘Cash Me Outside’ Girl From Dr. Phil

Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) channeled her inner Danielle Bregoli on Friday — the “cash me outside” girl from Dr. Phil — during a talk at a “Girls Who Code” event in New York City.

During the talk, the 29-year-old politician slammed critics who raise serious concerns about her “Green New Deal,” saying that people are just being critical over “little minute thing[s].”

“Like I just introduced the Green New Deal two weeks ago, and it’s creating all of this conversation. Why?” Ocasio-Cortez said. “Because no one else has even tried. Because no one else has even tried.”

“So people are like, ‘Oh it’s unrealistic. Oh it’s vague. Oh it doesn’t address this little minute thing,'” Ocasio-Cortez continued. “And I’m like, ‘You try. You do it. Cuz you’re not. Cuz you’re not. So, until you do it, I’m the boss.’ How bout that?”
