Ocasio-Cortez Campaign Just Slammed With a Fine

Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s 2018 congressional campaign was fined by the state of New York for failing to provide the proper workers’ compensation coverage to campaign staffers.

“The employer did not have the required workers’ compensation coverage from March 31, 2018 to April 30, 2018,” Melissa Stewart, the spokeswoman for New York’s Workers Compensation Board, told The New York Daily News. “[It] was issued a final penalty of $1,500, which was paid.” . . .

The self-proclaimed Democratic socialist has been portraying herself as a champion for workers’ rights. During her campaign, she advocated for a $15-an-hour minimum wage and a Federal Jobs Guarantee because according to her website, “anyone who is willing and able to work shouldn’t struggle to find employment.” . . .

“Ocasio-Cortez’s desired ‘living wage’ of $15 an hour has been a living hell for many small business owners in New York, who’ve been unable to offset the cost through higher prices,” Employment Policies Institute Managing Director Michael Saltsman said in response to the closure. “It’s fine to mourn the impending closure of your former employer — it’s better to understand the misguided minimum-wage mandates that contributed to that closure.” (Read more from “Ocasio-Cortez Campaign Just Slammed With a Fine” HERE)

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s ‘Green New Deal’ Is Powered by Unicorns

The idea that conservatives are generally upset over a video of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez imitating the dance scene from “The Breakfast Club” may be a textbook example of fake news. In contrast, her proposal for a “Green New Deal” is real news, but fake policy.

In a “60 Minutes” interview that aired Sunday, the darling of democratic socialism proposed eliminating carbon emissions within 12 years. Ocasio-Cortez has previously avoided specifying how she would pay for her “Green New Deal.”

The “Frequently Asked Questions” section accompanying her draft resolution claims it could be funded in the “same ways that we paid for the 2008 bank bailout and extended quantitative easing programs, the same ways we paid for World War II and many other wars. The Federal Reserve can extend credit to power these projects and investments, new public banks can be created (as in WWII) to extend credit and a combination of various taxation tools (including taxes on carbon and other emissions and progressive wealth taxes) can be employed.” The war metaphor is among the classics of collectivism.

Ocasio-Cortez now falls back on the comforting myth that everything is affordable by soaking the rich with higher income taxes. She told Anderson Cooper that “once you get to, like, the tippy tops, on your 10 millionth dollar, sometimes you see tax rates as high as 60 or 70 percent. That doesn’t mean all $10 million are taxed at an extremely high rate, but it means that as you climb up this ladder you should be contributing more.” . . .

In a nutshell (where Ocasio-Cortez is dwelling, policy-wise), the problem is that our technological capacities are not quite what they are in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to Tom Pyle, president of the Institute for Energy Research: “One hundred percent renewable energy defies the laws of physics. It would be impossible to achieve.” There is no Tony Stark here with an Arc Reactor for everyone. Instead, we have Elon Musk, sparking up like Bob Marley after years of government subsidies. MELTDOWN: Ocasio-Cortez Explodes After Fact-Check, Doesn’t Want to Be Held to Same Standards as Trump

Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) exploded on Monday after multiple left-wing publications fact-checked her and criticized her defense of the numerous falsehoods she has told.

The former bartender claimed on CBS News’ “60 Minutes” on Sunday that people were too focused on being “factually” accurate, and not focused enough on being morally right, which drew widespread criticism.

That criticism carried over into news reports today from left-leaning publications, including The Washington Post and CNN, which published reports titled, “Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s very bad defense of her falsehoods” and “Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s very slippery slope on facts,” respectively. . .

Ocasio-Cortez then suggested that it was not fair that she was, in her own mind, being held to the same standards as President Donald Trump.

WATCH: Ocasio-Cortez Gets Asked How She’ll Pay for Her Programs. It Was a Disaster.

Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) was again unable to explain how she intends to pay for $40 trillion in far-left big government programs during a Sunday interview on CBS News’ “60 Minutes” with host Anderson Cooper.

This marks the second time that Ocasio-Cortez was unable to explain how she would pay for the programs that she wants the government to pay for, with the other instance occurring during an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper. . .

“We only ask how we pay for it on issues of housing, healthcare and education,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “How do we pay for it? With the same exact mechanisms that we pay for military increases for this Space Force. For all of these– ambitious policies.”

“There are Democrats, obviously, who are worried about your affect on the party,” Cooper responded. “Democratic Senator Chris Coons, said about left-leaning Democrats, “If the next two years is just a race to offer increasingly unrealistic proposals, it’ll be difficult for us to make a credible case we should be allowed to govern again.” . . .

“We pay more per capita in health care and education for lower outcomes than many other nations,” Ocasio-Cortez answered, as she still could not provide an answer about how to pay for her programs. “And so for me, what’s unrealistic is– is what we’re living in right now.” (Read more from “WATCH: Ocasio-Cortez Gets Asked How She’ll Pay for Her Programs. Ocasio-Cortez Claims GOP Thinks Her Dancing Was ‘Scandalous,’ Gets Roasted for Lying

Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) was widely criticized for lying on Friday about reaction that she received to a video that a random Twitter account posted earlier in the week. . .

That video was in response to a tweet from “@AnonymousQ1776,” who later deleted their account, which stated: “Here is America’s favorite commie know-it-all acting like the clueless nitwit she is…”

Ocasio-Cortez Must Have Missed Sunday School Because Even Her Account of Jesus’ Birth Is False

Congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the socialist darling from New York, never seems to take a break from political gaffes, even on Christmas. Instead, she used the day to push the false notion that Jesus was a refugee.

It wasn’t long before conservatives tore into her utterly false statements. After all, Ocasio-Cortez decided to use the biggest holiday in the world to push her own political agenda (but really, it’s not that surprising).

Ocasio-Cortez Says She Plans to Pay Her Interns. Here’s How Much per Hour.

By Townhall. A few days ago Congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D) said she believes it’s time for her colleagues to pay interns. She came to the realization when she visited a diner in Washington, D.C. for a late night dinner and most of the staff were Capitol Hill workers at their second job.

Now, she says she’s going to “walk the walk” by paying her interns at least $15 an hour. . .

‘Democratic Socialist’ Ocasio-Cortez to Pay Interns $15 per Hour

By Fox Business. Newly-elected New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez announced she will pay her interns $15 per hour, in what she calls an effort to “walk the walk” and have her policies match her political viewpoints. . .

A 2017 study by an advocacy group called Pay Our Interns found that 51 percent of Senate Republicans offered paid internships, compared with 31 percent of Democrats.

Meanwhile, young staffers in the House of Representatives had dismal pay prospects: Only 8 percent of Republicans – or 19 of 238 – paid interns, while 3.6 percent of Democrats, or 7 of 193, did so.

The study also concluded that internships in D.C. cost $6,000, on average.

A list of who was not paying young staffers included lawmakers like California Sen. Kamala Harris, Virginia Democrat Mark Warner and New York Democrat Chuck Schumer – all of whom have voiced support for raising the federal minimum wage. Ocasio-Cortez Threatens to Retaliate Against Trump Jr. over Meme, Twitter Explodes with Accusations of Ethics Violations

Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez threatened to use the powers of her elected office to retaliate against Donald Trump Jr. on Friday after the president’s son posted a meme trolling her on his personal Instagram account.

“I have noticed that Junior here has a habit of posting nonsense about me whenever the Mueller investigation heats up,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “Please, keep it coming Jr – it’s definitely a “very, very large brain” idea to troll a member of a body that will have subpoena power in a month.” . . .

Ocasio-Cortez Thinks Green Policies Will Create ‘Economic Justice.’ She Should Take a Look at Paris

Incoming Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., thinks that her climate policy agenda will bring more “justice” to disadvantaged communities. The yellow vest riots in France tell another story.

At Monday’s “Climate Change Town Hall” organized by Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., Ocasio-Cortez called the push for new environmental policies “the civil rights movement of our generation.”

She also said that fighting climate change is “the mechanism through which we can really deliver justice to communities that have been underserved.”

“We have injustices in this country. Those injustices are concentrated in frontline communities and indigenous, black and brown communities,” she said. “They’re the ones that experience the greatest depths of this injustice.”

“We can use the transition to 100 percent renewable energy as the vehicle to truly deliver and establish economic, social and racial justice in the United States of America,” Ocasio-Cortez also said.

Ah yes. That’s what struggling families and communities really need right now: Solar panels and electric cars.

Perhaps Ocasio-Cortez should take a look at what’s going on in France right now, where similar attempts to curb fossil fuel consumption to address climate change have led to violent riots all over Paris that have killed several people.

There, political leaders have been forced to postpone a proposed carbon tax and new emissions regulations that sparked the riots. The tax and regulations were meant to encourage people to swap out their diesel-powered vehicles for more eco-friendly modes of transportation.

Fuel taxes in France are already estimated to be 64 percent for unleaded gasoline and 59 percent for diesel. Currently, diesel costs around $6.50 per gallon in France, and the tax hike would have driven that price even higher.

As a New York Times report explains, while wealthier urbanites were fine with the proposal, it drew ire from those who have trouble making ends meet in rural areas and suburbs.

French PM Edouard Phillippe agreed with this assessment, saying that the anger in the streets came from “hard-working France, which has a hard time making ends meet.”

“This anger has its source in a profound injustice,” Phillippe added. “That of not being able to live decently from the fruit of one’s labor.”

It’s a simple reality: When government steps in with environmental regulations and new taxes on necessities, it gets a lot harder for regular folks to fill up their gas tanks, keep their families warm in the winter, and keep food on the table.

And where exactly is the “justice” in that? (For more from the author of “Ocasio-Cortez Thinks Green Policies Will Create ‘Economic Justice.’ She Should Take a Look at Paris” please click HERE)

Watch: Ocasio-Cortez Compares Election Victory to Something out of This World – Literally

Democratic Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez rambled on Friday that her election victory was on par with the United States landing on the moon, something that she falsely thinks was a political victory for the Democrats over the Republicans.

Ocasio-Cortez made the remarks at a press conference for the far-left Sunshine Movement in Washington where she made incoherent statements. . .

“Because in every moment when our country has reached the depths of darkness, in every moment when we were at the brink, at the cusp of an abyss and we did not know if we would be capable of saving ourselves, we have,” Ocasio-Cortez continued. “We’ve done it. We’ve dug deep and we’ve done what we thought was impossible.” (Read more from “Watch: Ocasio-Cortez Compares Election Victory to Something out of This World – Literally” HERE)
