Alaska GOP Candidates Clash on Immigration

Memorial Day 13Thousands of miles from the U.S-Mexico border, three Republicans vying for their party’s nomination for U.S. Senate in Alaska clashed on immigration Sunday night in a televised debate ahead of the Aug. 19 primary.

Both former Alaska Attorney General Dan Sullivan and Lt. Gov Mead Treadwell refused to sign a pledge offered by tea party favorite Joe Miller to oppose all efforts at “amnesty” for people here illegally if elected to the U.S. Senate, with Treadwell chastising Miller for sending out a mailer on immigration featuring menacing Hispanic gang members. Miller, in turn, noted that several of Sullivan’s backers, like GOP strategist Karl Rove, favor allowing many of the 11 million immigrants in the country to eventually become citizens.

“It’s because it’s the truth,” Miller said when challenged about the pictures on the flier. “This is real-world stuff.”

Today Joe Miller issued a challenge to his primary opponents to sign a no-amnesty pledge, blocking a pathway to citizenship for illegal aliens.

“My opponents have been unwilling to make a commitment on this crucial issue,” said Miller. “Ultimately, it goes beyond whether or not the folks crossing the border are rewarded for their illegal behavior. It is a matter of national integrity, security, the rule of law, and whether we have the will to survive as a sovereign nation.”

A signed copy of the pledge was delivered to the Anchorage headquarters of Dan Sullivan and Mead Treadwell this afternoon. Miller is calling on Sullivan and Treadwell to put America first and protect American workers.

Miller concluded, “It’s time to move beyond political posturing and special favors for special interests. This is an opportunity for Dan Sullivan and Mead Treadwell to show Alaskans that they’re listening. I hope they’ll stand up to the Democrat political machine and big corporate interests who are acting against the interests of the people.”

Republican U.S. Senate hopeful Joe Miller says the U.S. should bill the governments of people who enter this country illegally for policing, housing, food and transportation.

Miller’s campaign Wednesday released a seven-point plan for addressing illegal immigration.

The proposal also calls for immediate completion of a fence along the southern border of the U.S. and stopping benefits, like health care, for people who are in this country illegally.

Miller Outlines Seven-Step Plan to Address Border/Illegal Alien Crisis

Joe Miller outlined a seven-step plan today to address the growing crisis on our nation’s southern border.

“The crisis of illegal immigration we’re facing is not only unnecessary, it is being instigated by the Obama Administration,” said Miller. “It’s time we take some simple steps to ensure the integrity of our borders and the security of the American people.”

The seven-step plan consists of the following policies:

1. End all foreign aid to countries encouraging illegals to cross our borders.
2. Finish the border fence now.
3. Stop encouraging illegal entry with birthright citizenship.
4. Bill the governments of illegals for policing, housing, feeding, and transporting their citizens.
5. Implement E-verify now and fine companies for employing illegals.
6. End the Immigration and Naturalization Services (INS) lottery that gives citizenship to 55,000 random people every year.
7. Stop the endless benefits to illegals – healthcare, schooling, social services, etc. – which are a form of taxation on American citizens.

Earlier this week, Miller called on his Republican opponents to join him in calling for the President’s impeachment, in part due to Obama’s lawlessness on the amnesty issue. So far, his call has elicited no response.

Miller concluded, “With these seven, simple, common sense steps we could fix this problem once and for all. The crisis that the President and this Congress have essentially created is unconscionable. Promising a safe haven with many of the same benefits as citizens is unacceptable. It’s time for Congress not only to act with respect to fixing the problem, but also to hold Barrack Obama accountable.”

It is now all the fashionable rage in Washington, D.C., to proclaim solidarity with America’s working poor in front of the cameras — while stabbing them in the back behind closed doors.

Privileged Illinois Democratic Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky and others have taken to Twitter, posting photos of themselves eating tuna sandwiches and buying Ramen noodles to show how much they empathize with minimum-wage workers. On the other side of the aisle, GOP Rep. Paul Ryan has wrapped himself in a cloak of compassion, putting a cheesy Taylor Swift hand heart around conservatism by proposing government “life coaches” for those in poverty.

Message: They care! Reality: They fake. The cognitive dissonance on Capitol Hill is so thick you need a V8-powered chainsaw to slice it.

While cynical politicians prattle on about protecting the American Dream, they’re working together to destroy it. If these elected officials care so much about reducing poverty, why are they working so hard to import more of it from around the world? Leaders in both political parties have thrown struggling Americans under the bus to feed the cheap illegal alien labor machine.

The working poor are the biggest losers in D.C.’s amnesty game. U.S. Civil Rights Commissioner Peter Kirsanow has been a lonely voice warning about the impact of mass illegal immigration and perpetual amnesty on low-income black Americans. “The country’s economic woes have disproportionately harmed African-Americans, especially those with little education,” he warned this spring. “The economy has a glut of low-skilled workers, not a shortage,” which is driving wages down.

'Obama Will Take Care Of Us'

In an exclusive interview with WND and Rep. Steve Stockman, R-Texas, a 13-year Border Patrol veteran revealed many in the recent surge of illegal immigrants, including unaccompanied minors, are coming prepared to game the U.S. immigration system, even repeating the mantra, “Obama will take care of us.”

“I don’t usually get into the political part of it,” explained Chris Cabrera, now a vice president in the National Border Patrol Council Local 3307, “but I find it odd that their whole thing is, ‘We are going to get amnesty when we get here. Where is my permiso? Where is my permission to go north so I can get my medical care and my schooling and all that? President Obama is going to take care of us and make sure we’re all OK.’

“Whether it’s the adults or the young kids, one thing we consistently hear is, ‘Obama will take care of us,’” he explained.

He also suggested the tens of thousands of unaccompanied minors illegally entering the United States appear to have been coached on what to say when they cross the border.

“The ‘magic words’ are something along the lines of ‘asylum,’ or ‘political asylum’ or to say ‘fighting in my home country,’” Cabrera said. “They know these words … because we can’t send them home because it’s too dangerous back there.”

Violent transnational gangs ‘recruiting unaccompanied minors at Border Security facilities’

Members of some of the United States’ most notorious street gangs have infiltrated shelters housing illegal immigrant minors from Central America and are recruiting them, say Homeland Security sources.

An estimated 57,000 minors from Central America have flooded across the border from Mexico to the U.S. in recent months, and gang leaders are reportedly filling their ranks from among them.

Transnational gangs such as the Mara Salvatruca, also known as MS-13, and the 18th Street gang are using established juvenile members from Central America to cross the border and recruit other children to the cartels, say sources.

According to Fox News, Border Control agents have witnessed gang members using a Red Cross phone bank at the facility at Nogales, Arizona, to ‘recruit, enlist and pressure’ other minors into crossing the border.

Shawn Moran, vice president of the National Border Control Patrol Council, a union which represents border agents, says agents have witnessed the recruiting process.

Miller Blasts Begich on Border Crisis, Says Palin Right on Impeachment

Today Joe Miller blasted Alaska’s junior senator, Mark Begich, for his leadership failure relating to the illegal immigration crisis.

“Silence is consent,” said Miller. “Mark Begich has not even deemed the crisis on our southern border worthy of a press release. There is no doubt that he is complicit with the President in encouraging and empowering this illegal invasion, both from a policy perspective by voting for amnesty, and by virtue of his refusal to hold Barack Obama accountable for dereliction of duty and usurpation of Congressional authority.”

Joe Miller is the only candidate in the race for US Senate to take an unequivocal stand on amnesty and border security. Mead Treadwell has embraced limited amnesty for illegals, and Dan Sullivan has taken hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign cash from numerous big-monied pro-amnesty donors, including Paul Singer’s Friends for an American Majority, John McCain’s America First PAC, and Lindsey Graham’s Fund for America’s Future. He is also backed with independent expenditures from Karl Rove’s American Crossroads and the US Chamber of Commerce. Both favor amnesty for illegals.

According to the Federation for American Immigration Reform, ten thousand illegal aliens reside in Alaska, costing the state more than $138 million per year in public services.

Joe Miller is the only candidate to fill out the NumbersUSA candidate questionnaire. He has also been named a “True Reformer” for his strong stand for the rule of law and against amnesty for illegals.

While the illegal immigration crisis has very serious implications for the rule of law in America, other concerns exist as well, including public health–given recent reports of illness and disease among those crossing the border illegally–and national security. Many the Administration describes as “children” are actually teens who are affiliated with gang activity, and are connected to the Mexican drug cartels. The confirmed cases of Middle Eastern terrorists and Chinese nationals coming through our porous southern border are alarming.

Miller concluded: “The truth is, what we are facing with respect to the massive influx of illegals is not only a rule of law issue, it is a public health risk and a threat to our national security. There is no doubt President Obama and enablers like Mark Begich are responsible. Sarah Palin is right; it’s time to impeach this President for dereliction of duty, selectively enforcing the law, and usurping powers that the Constitution does not authorize. He is willfully undermining the rule of law and creating chaos.”

Tea Party Candidate Calls Out GOP Opponents In This Fiery Debate Read (+video)

joemillergiU.S. Senate candidate and Tea Party favorite Joe Miller made a name for himself as a hopeful in 2010. This year, he is facing fierce Republican competition by making sure voters recognize the differences between the candidates vying to take over Democrat Mark Begich’s seat.

A recent debate gave the Alaskan an opportunity to showcase his beliefs in contrast to those of his rivals.

He started with the hot-button issue of the day: amnesty.

Miller asserted that one of his opponents, Mead Treadwell, has a documented history of supporting a path toward citizenship for illegal aliens. He also noted that his other primary rival, Dan Sullivan, has received significant funding – hundreds of thousands of dollars – from organizations that support amnesty.

He also touched on global warming, explaining he is the only candidate with a proven track record of disputing the left’s assertion that man is to blame for changes in the climate.

“I am the only one standing on this stage that, at least consistently, stated that manmade global warming, the science on it, is inconclusive,” he said. “Both of my opponents have made statements that they support the belief in manmade global warming.”

Border Doctor: Previously-Deported Illegal Alien with Tuberculosis Ignored by Feds

A source told Breitbart Texas that an illegal immigrant from Guatemala is currently being treated for active tuberculosis (TB) at the University Medical Center (UMC) of El Paso.

Dr. Elizabeth Lee Vliet–a preventive medicine physician and former Director of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS)–has practices in Arizona and Texas. Vliet claimed that one of her patients, whose name can not be disclosed for confidentiality reasons, called her with fears that the TB-positive immigrant was putting other lives at risk.

Vliet said her patient informed her that ICE and DHS would not take the illegal immigrant–who was previously deported but is now back in the U.S.–into custody.

A representative at UMC El Paso told Breitbart Texas that information on the supposedly infected individual could not be released. “HIPAA prevents us from releasing any information about specific diagnoses,” the spokeswoman said.
She added, however, that “five El Paso hospitals are currently treating immigrants.”

Pro-Amnesty Protest: Would Obama Send His Kids 'Back to Kenya'? (+video)

Over 100 pro-amnesty activists from Southern California traveled to Naval Base Ventura County on Tuesday to stage a demonstration outside the gates to demand “humane treatment” for illegal aliens who have been transferred there from Texas by U.S. Border Patrol. The aliens, many of them unaccompanied children, are from Central America and crossed the U.S.-Mexico border as part of a massive recent migration.

The demonstrators represented a variety of backgrounds, from church and student organizations to left-wing political groups. They chanted, “No papers? No fear! Our children stay here!” and “All children matter! Let our kids stay!” Karen Gonzales, a senior at California State University Northridge, told Breitbart News: “As humans, none of us is illegal. The kids came here because their parents are already here, and to get away from violence.”

Oxnard native Robert Cruz, 57, who served as a U.S. Navy corpsman and U.S. Army medic, carried an American flag and told Breitbart News that he was at the protest to show “we’re a lot different than Murrieta.” He added: “I understand that many would love to come here legally, but they are running away from violence. They don’t have a say. This country was built by immigrants. Should we close our door? We stand for equality for all.”

Asked what he thought of President Barack Obama’s promise to deport children arriving illegally, Cruz said: “I think he should search deep inside his heart, and look at what he’s saying and what he’s doing. He’d be sending them back, possibly, to a death sentence.

The crisis on our border is the direct and predictable result of President Obama’s sustained effort to undermine America’s immigration laws. As the president’s previous director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), John Sandweg recently acknowledged: “if you are a run-of-the-mill immigrant here illegally, your odds of getting deported are close to zero.” Enforcement has collapsed.

Today President Obama says he needs $3.7 billion from Congress to handle the crisis his lawless policies are creating. Amazingly, the funding request further advertises his administration’s amnesty efforts and our fraud-riddled asylum programs, while explicitly omitting any request for expedited deportation authority. The request is also not paid for. The administration wants to borrow every penny.

President Obama has yielded to the demands of open borders groups, to whom he pledged amnesty in 2008. He has dramatically abandoned his lawful duty to the American people. Immigration enforcement for the world’s most powerful nation is now held hostage by a small band of radical immigration activists. That is why the administration still refuses to deliver the crucial message necessary to halt this flow: if you attempt to cross our border illegally, you will be apprehended and deported.
