WATCH: Cuomo Refuses to Resign, Blames ‘Cancel Culture’ on Bombshell Sex Allegations

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) defied New York Congressional Democrats’ call for him to step down Friday, insisting that he is actually a victim of “cancel culture.”

“There are facts and then there are opinions. And I’ve always separated the two,” a defiant Cuomo told reporters during a conference call. “Politicians who don’t know a single fact, but yet form a conclusion and an opinion, are in my opinion reckless and dangerous.”

“The people of New York should not have confidence in a politician who takes a position without knowing any facts or substance. That, my friends, is politics at its worst,” the governor added. “People know the difference between playing politics, bowing to cancel culture, and the truth,” he said.

Cuomo, who has served three terms as governor and three years as New York attorney general, then attempted to paint himself as a political outsider who has become the target of the establishment.

“I am not part of the political club, and you know what? I am proud of it. I have been in the public eye my entire life. My entire life I have been under public scrutiny, since I was 23 years old and ran my father’s campaign. New Yorkers know me. Wait for the facts,” Cuomo said in reference to his father, Mario Cuomo, who served as New York’s governor between 1983 and 1994. Assembly Democrats Give Green Light for Cuomo ‘Impeachment Investigation’

Democrats in the state Assembly on Thursday gave a green light for an “impeachment investigation” of Gov. Andrew Cuomo by the Judiciary Committee — the first step toward potentially removing him from office.

Speaker Carl Heastie (D-The Bronx) announced the momentous decision following an afternoon meeting of the entire Democratic Assembly conference.

Heastie said he was “authorizing the Assembly Judiciary Committee to begin an impeachment investigation, led by Chair Charles D. Lavine, to examine allegations of misconduct against Governor Cuomo.”

“The reports of accusations concerning the governor are serious,” Heastie said. (Read more from “Assembly Democrats Give Green Light for Cuomo ‘Impeachment Investigation’” HERE)

Not Satire: Columnist Excuses Cuomo’s Alleged Harassment Because He Was ‘Perfect’ on COVID

. . .That COVID-era performance was so laudable, however, that a columnist for the New York Daily News thinks it’s enough that we should overlook the numerous charges of sexual misconduct the Democrat governor now faces. Seriously.

Either Linda Stasi really needs the Twitter hate-mentions or doesn’t read any newspaper, including her own, because not only was the whole “perfect man for our perilous pandemic times” thing a put-on, but Cuomo has now been accused of sexual misconduct by five women as of Wednesday morning. Don’t expect that number to remain static, either.

Yet, according to Stasi, those accusations represent a “hugging-kissing scandal” that shouldn’t distract us from the warm embrace Cuomo gave all of us when we needed it most: Last spring, when he was lying profusely about how effectively his state was dealing with the coronavirus. Another Woman Accuses Governor Cuomo of Sexual Harassment

A sixth woman has brought forth allegations of sexual harassment against Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D), claiming that the governor inappropriately touched her last year at the governor’s mansion, according to a Tuesday report.

The Times-Union reported:

An official close to the matter on Tuesday confirmed to the Times Union that the new allegation had been made. The governor’s office learned of the matter on Monday, an aide said. […] The complaint was reported to the governor’s counsel by other employees in the Executive Chamber. The information also was relayed by the governor’s office to the attorney general’s office, which is coordinating an investigation into multiple allegations of sexual harassment that have been made against the governor.

The Times-Union said that the alleged victim, whose identity has been withheld by the newspaper, is an Executive Chamber staff member. Their are no additional details known about the allegation at this time.

The development comes after New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) appointed independent lawyers to review allegations against Cuomo. Joon Kim, former acting U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, and employment lawyer Anne Clark will undertake the investigation. Another Aide Accuses Andrew Cuomo of Sexual Misconduct (VIDEO)

A former press aide of Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) has added her voice to the growing number calling for him to resign, claiming the politician invited her to his hotel room and embraced her after a work event in 2000, when Cuomo led the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and she was a consultant for the agency.
The woman, Karen Hinton, says she pulled away from Cuomo, but he pulled her back toward his body, holding her before she backed away and left the room, according to the report.

This comes amid multiple other allegations by females who say the governor sexually harassed them.

Cuomo held his first press conference on Wednesday since giving New York Attorney General Letitia James a referral to investigate claims that he sexually harassed at least two women in his administration.

Lawmakers Voting To Strip Cuomo’s COVID Powers Amid Recent Scandals

The Democratic-led New York state Legislature is expected to pass a measure today that will neuter Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s emergency powers — granted last year to manage the coronavirus pandemic — in a bid to take back some control from a governor facing spiraling twin scandals involving nursing home deaths and sexual harassment allegations.

The state’s top Democrats after Cuomo — state Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins (D-Westchester) and Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie (D-The Bronx) — scheduled a special session for Friday morning at 10 a.m. to pass a bill that will strip the governor of his ability to issue executive orders tied to the coronavirus state of emergency.

The legislation would ban Cuomo from creating any new directives without the Legislature’s OK, and would bar the extension of any existing directives unless deemed “critical to public health.

The measure would take effect immediately once Cuomo signs it — which he indicated he was willing to do during a Tuesday press conference where he signaled he “agreed” with the lawmakers’ plans. (Read more from “Lawmakers Voting To Strip Cuomo’s COVID Powers Amid Recent Scandals” HERE)

Alleged Sex Pest Andrew Cuomo Hires Lawyer Who Defended Harvey Weinstein, Woody Allen

Embattled governor Andrew Cuomo (D., N.Y.) has retained the services of a high-powered criminal defense attorney who defended Harvey Weinstein and Woody Allen against allegations of sexual assault.

Elkan Abramowitz, a former federal prosecutor with close ties to Manhattan district attorney Cy Vance, will serve as legal counsel to the governor and his top aides, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday.

New York attorney general Letitia James is investigating the Cuomo administration on several fronts. Three women have now accused the governor of sexual harassment. Allegations include unwanted kissing and touching, as well as inappropriate or suggestive comments, such as asking a 25-year-old female subordinate if she “had ever been with an older man” while the pair were alone in his office. . .

Abramowitz, who represented Cuomo during a federal investigation into the governor’s decision to prematurely dismantle an anti-corruption panel he created in 2013, will have his work cut out for him. The lawyer has certainly made a name for himself as the go-to legal counsel for celebrity sex pests.

In 2015, Abramowitz made a $2,100 campaign contribution to Manhattan district attorney Cy Vance after Vance dropped groping charges against his client, Harvey Weinstein. The charges were dropped despite a police recording of Weinstein apologizing to the alleged victim and promising he “won’t do it again.” (Read more from “Alleged Sex Pest Andrew Cuomo Hires Lawyer Who Defended Harvey Weinstein, Woody Allen” HERE)

Accused Andrew Cuomo Used to ‘Believe Women’ Who Allege Sexual Misconduct

. . .[Andrew] Cuomo previously claimed to value women who come forward with misconduct allegations. During the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who was subject to less credible allegations that could not be corroborated, Cuomo demanded that his confirmation be put on hold.

New York Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (R-NY) pointed out Cuomo’s “double standard,” when the governor said that the accused should be subject to a lie detector test. Thus far, Cuomo has given no indication that he will hold himself to the same vigorous standard to investigate these allegations from multiple women.

Cuomo Calls Sexual Harassment Allegations ‘Workplace Jokes’

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Sunday tried to explain away allegations of sexual harassment as “jokes” that were misinterpreted as “unwanted flirtation” — as his office caved on the state attorney general’s request to appoint an investigator to probe the claims.

“At work sometimes I think I am being playful and make jokes that I think are funny. I do, on occasion, tease people in what I think is a good natured way,” said Cuomo in a prepared statement.

“I now understand that my interactions may have been insensitive or too personal and that some of my comments, given my position, made others feel in ways I never intended,” he continued. “I acknowledge some of the things I have said have been misinterpreted as an unwanted flirtation. To the extent anyone felt that way, I am truly sorry about that.”

The statement came one day after former Cuomo staffer Charlotte Bennett, 25, alleged to the New York Times that the 63-year-old governor made a series of inappropriate remarks that left her convinced he “wanted to sleep with” her. Senator Claims Cuomo ‘Offered to Replace Staff Meetings With Strip Poker’

Gov. Andrew Cuomo came under attack Friday at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference — where a Republican member of Congress mocked him over sexual harassment allegations and ripped his handling of nursing homes amid the coronavirus crisis.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Florida) said that “the fake news media and their allies in Silicon Valley made Gov. Cuomo out to be some iconic cross between King David and Tom Brady.” . . .

Gaetz then brought up the sexual harassment scandal sparked earlier this week by ex-Cuomo aide Lindsey Boylan, saying, “According to former aides, Gov. Cuomo was offering to replace staff meetings with strip poker.”

“Meanwhile, they were stripping granny out of the COVID ward at the hospital and tossing her in the nursing home [for] just enough time to infect everybody and then go back to the hospital so the deaths could be recategorized for politics,” he said.

Those comments referenced a since-rescinded, March 25 directive for nursing homes to admit coronavirus patients transferred from hospitals and a report by state Attorney General Letitia James that found the state Health Department “vastly undercounted” nursing home deaths by not including residents who died in hospitals.
