New York Senator Gives Cuomo a Pass on Sexual Harassment Allegations

New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) is giving her state’s governor, Andrew Cuomo, a pass on recent allegations of sexual harassment. Cuomo is accused, in graphic detail, of workplace harassment by a former aide. Lindsey Boylan, a former staffer to Cuomo, detailed unwanted sexual advances and harassment at work by the Democratic governor.

Gillibrand led the charge to oust former Democratic Senator Al Franken (D-MN) in 2017, after the former lawmaker was accused of sexual harassment by a host of women. . .

Gillibrand was the first in the Senate Democratic caucus to call for Franken’s resignation, but appears to be unconcerned with allegations of misconduct committed by her state’s governor. She said that an investigation was under the jurisdiction of the state legislature, but did not endorse the launch of such a probe. WATCH: White House Refuses to Condemn Cuomo’s Fatal Nursing Home Decision

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki on Sunday refused to condemn New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s fatal policy that sent patients infected with COVID-19 back into long-term care facilities in close contact with the most COVID-vulnerable population during the height of the pandemic.

While New York state Attorney General Letitia James found that Cuomo, his administration, and the state’s Health Department severely undercounted the number of COVID-related deaths in nursing homes by as much as 50 percent and his top aide admitted the state’s top office purposefully hid the nursing home COVID-19 death toll out of fear of a federal investigation, Psaki still defended him.

“Does President Biden still consider Andrew Cuomo the ‘gold standard’ when it comes to leadership on the pandemic?” the ABC News’ “This Week” host Jon Karl asked after playing a clip of Biden in April 2020 praising Cuomo’s COVID-19 response.

Psaki evaded the question, choosing to praise Cuomo for his leadership and position as chair of the National Governors Association.

“We work with Gov. Cuomo just like we work with governors across the country,” she said. “…He plays an important role in ensuring that we’re coordinating closely in getting assistance out to people in his state and to states across the country and we’ll continue to do that.”

WATCH: Democratic Assemblyman Details Threatening Phone Call From Andrew Cuomo

Democratic New York Assemblyman Ron Kim gave details Thursday about the threatening phone call he said he received from the governor.

Kim told MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough that Democratic New York Governor Andrew Cuomo called him at home, demanding that he issue a new — false — statement about a meeting he attended with six other lawmakers. During that meeting, Kim said that Cuomo aide Melissa DeRosa conceded that the administration had hidden the real nursing home coronavirus numbers.

Kim said that Cuomo called him while he was at home with his family, demanding that he issue a statement contradicting what he had seen in that meeting.

“For 10 minutes he berated me. He yelled at me. He told me that my career would be over,” Kim said, adding that Cuomo gave him only until that night to issue a new statement. “He has been biting his tongue for months against me. And I had tonight — not tomorrow, tonight — to issue a new statement essentially asking me to lie. I heard and saw a crime the other day. And he’s asking me [to say] that I did not see that crime.”

State Senators Say Time Is Right to Revoke Andrew Cuomo’s Emergency Powers

Some of New York’s Democratic state senators have joined their Republican colleagues in saying that the time is right to revoke Governor Andrew Cuomo’s expanded emergency powers, which were put in place last spring in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Republicans in the state legislature have been asking for Cuomo’s expanded emergency powers to be revoked for months, but their calls to do so recently received support from a handful of Democratic lawmakers. Fourteen Democratic state senators released a joint statement on February 12 calling for an early revocation of those emergency powers, which they said were “no longer appropriate” for Cuomo to possess.

“While COVID-19 has tested the limits of our people and state–and, early during the pandemic, required the government to restructure decision making to render rapid, necessary public health judgments—it is clear that the expanded emergency powers granted to the Governor are no longer acceptable,” the senators’ joint statement said. Cuomo Coverup: Aide Admits They Intentionally Hid Nursing Home Data From Feds

Andrew Cuomo’s Aide Admits NY Hid COVID-19 Nursing Home Deaths To Avoid Federal Investigation

By Breitbart. Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s (D-NY) top aide admitted that her team withheld the number of deaths related to COVID-19 in New York’s nursing homes to shield the Cuomo government from federal investigation and political scrutiny. . .

In a recorded call with state Democrat lawmakers, DeRosa said Cuomo’s team feared a federal investigation in the context of former President Donald Trump’s highlighting of coronavirus-related deaths in New York’s nursing homes. This fear motivated Cuomo’s government to suppress the statistics against requests for such information from the state’s government and citizens’ organizations. . .

Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) called for an obstruction of justice investigation into Cuomo and New York’s executive branch.

Rep. Steve Scalise (D-LA) told Breitbart News in August that New York families who had loved ones die from COVID-19 asked him for help in obtaining information from Cuomo related to nursing home deaths.

In June, Breitbart News reported that Cuomo neglected to use medical resources made available to him by the Trump administration as part of the Empire State’s coronavirus response. (Read more from “Andrew Cuomo’s Aide Admits NY Hid COVID-19 Nursing Home Deaths To Avoid Federal Investigation” HERE)

Cuomo Coverup: Aide Admits They Intentionally Hid Nursing Home Data From Feds

By New York Post. Governor Cuomo’s top aide privately apologized to Democratic lawmakers for withholding the state’s nursing-home death toll from COVID-19 — telling them “we froze” out of fear the true numbers would “be used against us” by federal prosecutors, The Post has learned.

The stunning admission of a cover-up was made by Secretary to the Governor Melissa DeRosa during a video conference call with state Democratic leaders in which she said the Cuomo administration had rebuffed a legislative request for the tally in August because “right around the same time, [then-President Donald Trump] turns this into a giant political football,” according to an audio recording of the two-hour-plus meeting.

“He starts tweeting that we killed everyone in nursing homes,” DeRosa said. “He starts going after [New Jersey Gov. Phil] Murphy, starts going after [California Gov. Gavin] Newsom, starts going after [Michigan Gov.] Gretchen Whitmer.”

In addition to attacking Cuomo’s fellow Democratic governors, DeRosa said, Trump “directs the Department of Justice to do an investigation into us.”

“And basically, we froze,” she told the lawmakers on the call. (Read more from “Cuomo Coverup: Aide Admits They Intentionally Hid Nursing Home Data From Feds” HERE)

Twitter Troll Replaced ‘Trump’ With ‘Cuomo’ in Maxine Waters’ Infamous Call to Violence and Democrats Lost Their Minds

Blue checkmarks and Democrats took to Twitter on Thursday to condemn a call for violence against Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the people in his administration. The quote in question, however, was actually a call to violence against former President Donald Trump and his supporters from U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., that a Twitter troll account called “Cuomo Watch” satirically modified to say “Cuomo.” . . .

Soon after the tweet was shared, prominent New York politicians, blue checkmarks, and Democrats in other states took to Twitter to condemn the call to action.

“This is appalling and dangerous. Encouraging violence must never be tolerated. Shame on whoever is behind this kind of garbage,” the speaker of the New York State Assembly wrote.

Governor Bans the Sale of Confederate Flags in New York

[Andrew Cuomo] can take other measures out for a spin, like banning the sale of the Confederate flag and other “symbols of hate” in the state. It’s a free speech nightmare waiting to happen. It’s a First Amendment minefield, but he doesn’t care. Robby Soave of Reason has more and notes how the bill his royal highness signed into law this week is a legal trainwreck. I’ll take what is unconstitutional for $1000, Alex* (via Reason):

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, signed legislation on Tuesday prohibiting the sale of Confederate flags on public property, including at state and local fairs.

Cuomo was well aware that such legislation is likely to fail a First Amendment test, but this did not deter him.

[…]

Cuomo noted that “certain technical changes are necessary” to make sure the ban is compliant with the First Amendment, which protects free expression—including the expression of hateful ideas.

Those changes should probably involve scrapping most of the bill, which is a mess. It prohibits the sale of “symbols of hate,” which it defines as “including, but not limited, to symbols of white supremacy, neo-Nazi ideology, or the battle flag of the Confederacy.” Keep in mind that we live in a world where some people think the OK hand gesture is a white supremacist signal…

Andrew Cuomo Accused of Sexual Harassment by Former Adviser

One of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s former advisers on Sunday accused the New York Democrat of sexually harassing her “for years,” saying, “I *know* I am not the only woman.”

“Yes, @NYGovCuomo sexually harassed me for years,” Lindsey Boylan tweeted Sunday morning. She did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s requests for comment. . .

“Not knowing what to expect what’s the most upsetting part aside from knowing that no one would do a damn thing even when they saw it,” she continued. “No one. And I *know* I am not the only woman.” . . .

Boylan did not provide additional details about the alleged sexual harassment. She prefaced the allegations with a Saturday tweet criticizing announcements that President-elect Joe Biden is considering Cuomo as his potential attorney general.

Andrew Cuomo Wants To ‘Deck’ President Trump (VIDEO)

. . .Of course there’s weightlifting CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, who in 2019 threatened to throw a guy down a flight of stairs for calling him “Fredo” — a reference to the weak brother in “The Godfather.”

. . .Naturally, folks far and wide piled on since then and repeated the “Fredo” slight — including President Donald Trump earlier this year:

. . .Well, that apparently didn’t sit well with Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who told radio host Howard Stern on Monday he wanted to punch Trump’s lights out over his “Fredo” dig directed toward his younger brother.

“If I wasn’t governor of New York, I would have decked him. Period,” the elder Cuomo told Stern, according to USA Today. “I mean he was attacking me, he was attacking my family, he was anti-Italian. Every nasty thing.”

The governor added, “Take away that word ‘governor’ for 24 hours, I would have had a field day with him,” the paper said. (Read more from “Andrew Cuomo Wants To ‘Deck’ President Trump” HERE)
