Ann Romney: Government Breach of Trust ‘Deeply Troubling’

In her first solo interview since the 2012 presidential election, Ann Romney says the recent scandals have created a “breach of trust” in the country right now that is “deeply troubling.”

“There’s this breach of trust that we as all Americans feel right now with our government,” Romney said Thursday on “CBS This Morning.” “If we look at the three scandals that are going on right now — in particular I saw the polling numbers with how people are upset with the IRS scandal — we have to trust in our government. … When we feel like they’re breaking our trust, it’s deeply troubling.

“It’s hard for the American people to sort through [the negativity],” she said. “How do they know who’s telling the truth? And that’s what I’m talking about, this breach of trust that’s going on. Who do we trust?”

Ann Romney Opens Up on the Campaign Trail About Her MS: “I Can’t Keep Up the Pace”

Ann Romney opened up about her struggle with Multiple Sclerosis during a surprise visit to a Cuban restaurant in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Saturday.

‘I was very coordinated and athletic, and all of a sudden I’m falling and tripping and losing my balance and being so weak,’ Romney, the 63-year-old wife of Republican presidential nominee, told diners. ‘And I was like, “Something’s wrong!”‘

Romney was diagnosed in 1998 with the incurable neurological disease, which attacks the central nervous system and immobilizes many of its victims.

At the time, her husband was still working at Bain Capital, the venture capital firm he founded.

Ms Romney said she was an avid tennis player when she first started noticing her symptoms, which primarily affected her balance and coordination.

Video: Ann Romney Says She’s Prolife but Mitt was a Prochoice Governor

By Hugo Gye and Meghan Keneally. The wife of the Republican presidential candidate gave a passionate defense of the pro-life stance held by her and her husband during an appearance on daytime talk show The View.

Ann Romney said she will not be the one making the decisions but her husband, who is now running as a pro-life candidate in spite of serving as a pro-choice governor of Massachusetts.

‘The good news is, I’m not running for office and I don’t have to say what I feel. But I am pro life. I’m happy to say that,’ she said.

‘He could not have, on his conscience, creating human life for experimentation,’ she said in reference to Mr Romney’s decision against stem cell research during his time as governor.

‘That’s when he came out saying he was pro life. I think we all have to understand this is an issue that is so tender and there are people on both sides of the issue, with very good conscience, coming with a different opinion.’ Read more from this story HERE.

Obama beats Romney… Michelle, that is, in Battle of the Cookie Recipes

Barack Obama and Mitt Romney [went] head-to-head tonight in the first live presidential debate of the election season.

But the pair’s wives have already been battling it out in a quadrennial recipe contest run by Family Circle magazine. Since 1992 the publication has asked potential First Ladies to submit their ultimate cookie dough formula.

And after testing both submissions, 51.5 percent of readers opted for Michelle Obama’s white and dark chocolate chip cookie over Ann Romney’s colorful M&M and oatmeal offering.

But Family Circle magazine admitted that it was a tight contest, stating: ‘Just 287 votes separated the two women, our smallest margin ever.’

Mrs Obama credited her wining recipe to her daughters’ godmother and close family friend, Mama Kaye.

Romney’s 1968 message of devotion written in the sand to his future wife: “I Love Ann”

Mitt Romney may have travelled to France in the 1960s to spread the word of the Mormon church – but it appears religion was not his only mission.

An image reveals how he was also intent on romancing his soon-to-be wife by scrawling ‘I LOVE ANN’ in an enormous heart in the sand.

Romney, who made sure there was also enough room in the heart for him to stretch out next to his message of devotion, then sent the photograph to Ann.

The image was taken by a group of his friends in 1968 when Romney, then 21, was working as a missionary in France, and has now resurfaced in the new issue of TIME magazine.

As he campaigns across Ohio, the presidential candidate has continued to profess his love for Ann. ‘I’m happy in life as long as I’ve got my soul mate with me,’ Romney says of Ann in a video shown at tour stops. ‘She’s gorgeous – absolutely beautiful.’

Ann Romney Claims She “Walked In” on George Bush

If Mitt Romney wins the presidency, he won’t be the first commander in chief whom his wife has seen in a compromising position.

During a taping of “Live! With Kelly and Michael,” potential first lady Ann Romney said she once walked in on former President George W. Bush receiving a massage in the White House, according to a pool report.

“We had the unbelievable pleasure of spending the night at the White House and the next morning I was like, exploring everywhere,” Romney said when asked to name the most embarrassing thing she had ever done. “And I was supposed to be at meetings and Mitt was like, ‘Ann, you’re supposed to go,’ and I said ‘No, I’m exploring.’ I went into one door, I was with Anita Perry, by the way. I’ll put blame on her. And Anita and I were like ‘We wonder what’s behind this door?’ It was George Bush having a massage.”

Anita Perry is the wife of Texas Gov. Rick Perry, whom Mitt Romney defeated in the Republican presidential primaries.

“He was covered up,” Ann Romney said. “But I was so embarrassed that the next time I did see him, I didn’t know what I was going to say to him. We were going down the elevator from the White House going to an event together, and I walked up to the elevator and am just blushing, blushing, blushing. And he looks at me and he winks as he does and says, ‘I look pretty good, don’t I?’”

Democrats refuse to take down ad making fun of MS patient Ann Romney

Last week, LifeNews reported on a Democratic Party ad that essentially made fun of a patient with multiple sclerosis, the wife of presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

The Democratic National Committee unveiled a video featuring footage of Ann Romney’s dancing show horse as a way of mocking Mitt Romney for “dancing” around the issue of his taxes and whether he would make public additional tax returns that the IRS has certified are legitimate. The video was meant to be the first in a series of videos on the topic and the first featured the horse, owned jointly by Ann and Mitt Romney.

However, Ann Romney owns the horse in part because she relies on the animal, and other show horses she trains, to help her with therapy for her multiple sclerosis, a debilitating disease. Ann Romney, in an interview with Robin Roberts on “Good Morning America,” took offense to the ad.

That eventually led DNC spokesman Brad Woodhouse told ABC News to issue an apology of sorts.

“Our use of the Romneys’ dressage horse was not meant to offend Mrs. Romney in any way, and we regret it if it did,” he said. “We have no plans to invoke the horse any further to avoid misinterpretation.”

Spouse appeal: Wives help Obama, Romney campaigns

It’s no coincidence that Michelle Obama and Ann Romney are showing up a lot more as the tight presidential race barrels into the final few months.

The rival campaigns are rolling out their top assets in a big way. The first lady is the public face of a new grass-roots mobilizing effort for Team Obama. And Mrs. Romney’s recent interviews have put her on display cutting through the campaign din – including her blunt statement Thursday that her husband has provided everything that “people need to know” and won’t be releasing more tax returns.

Although Mrs. Romney is still largely unknown to a large swath of the public, both women are well regarded by voters in their own parties, and the campaigns are going all-out to use their appeal in ways that go well beyond the traditional presidential cookie bakeoff.

“They really do appear to be in it to win it, both of them, and sincerely in it to win it,” says Anita McBride, who served as Laura Bush’s chief of staff in the White House.

Mrs. Obama on Thursday made her debut as the leader the Obama campaign’s new “It Takes One” program, which asks supporters to do one thing to promote the campaign – and to engage someone else to do likewise.
