Poll: Most Arizona Republicans Believe Audit Will Show Trump Won State

A poll released by OH Insights on Monday shows that most Arizona Republicans believe the forensic election audit of Maricopa County being conducted by the Arizona State Senate will show that former President Donald Trump, not President Biden, won the state’s 2020 election.

The OH Insights Poll found that 61 percent of Republican registered voters surveyed agreed with the statement, “Evidence has been uncovered which shows that the election was stolen from President Trump in a number of states that the media and election officials have called for Joe Biden.”

In contrast, 24 percent of Independent registered voters surveyed in the state agreed with that statement, and only 15 percent of Democrat registered voters surveyed in the state agreed with it.

When asked later in the survey, “After the [Maricopa County] audit is completed, who do you believe will have received more votes in the 2020 presidential election, in Arizona?” 62 percent of Republicans answered Donald Trump, while only 21 percent answered Joe Biden, with 16 percent unsure.

Among Independents, only 25 percent answered Donald Trump, while 54 percent answered Joe Biden and 21 percent were unsure. (Read more from “Poll: Most Arizona Republicans Believe Audit Will Show Trump Won State” HERE)

Report: 2020 Election Audit’s Ballot Count Differs From Maricopa Tally

Ballots counted in the Arizona Senate’s audit of the 2020 election differs from the tally by Maricopa County officials.

That’s what Senate President Karen Fann said in an interview on Tuesday, in which she also noted the discrepancy prompted the state Legislature to acquire new machines — “not Dominion’s, separate ones” — to recount the ballots.

A canvass report released by the county, which includes Phoenix, said 2,089,563 ballots were cast in November’s election. Fann said she did not know the size of the discrepancy.

“They haven’t released a number yet,” Fann told conservative radio host Mike Broomhead on KTAR. “However, we do know that those numbers do not match with Maricopa County at this point.” . . .

The remaining count of ballots in Maricopa County will not be a recount of the election contests. A hand recount of votes in the presidential and U.S. Senate races, all won by Democrats, has already been completed, and officials involved in the audit have predicted a report will be released later in the summer. Supreme Court Upholds Arizona Voting Rules, Including Ballot Harvesting Ban

The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld two Republican-supported Arizona voting laws they say are intended to ensure election integrity.

The decision, delivered by a 6-3 court split on partisan lines, found that neither law violated Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act and that they were not enacted with racially discriminatory intent. Justice Samuel Alito wrote the court’s majority opinion. Justice Elena Kagan led the liberals in dissent.

The laws require two things. The first is that a ballot be thrown out if it was cast in a precinct other than the one matching the voter’s home address. The second is a ban on “ballot harvesting,” a practice in which third-party carriers collect absentee ballots and deliver them for counting.

Alito wrote in his opinion that because the laws gave voters an “equal opportunity” to vote, they were not discriminatory. He criticized the dissent for taking another tack, which focused on the fact that after the laws were enacted, they had a “disparate impact” on minorities, many of whom were voting in the wrong district or participating in ballot-harvesting.

Alito warned that Kagan and anyone opposing the laws were advancing a “radical” project, in which the only thing that a state takes into account when making voting laws is “the size of any disparity in a rule’s impact on members of protected groups.” And while that is an interest, Alito wrote, it is impossible to make laws that will not have some effect on how many people of any particular group vote. Arizona AG Defends Maricopa Audit Against ‘Hysterical’ Criticism

Arizona’s attorney general today warned the Biden Justice Department to back off its criticism of the state Senate’s audit of the Maricopa County 2020 vote, charging that it was giving into “hysterical” liberal Trump haters.

“My office is not amused by the DOJ’s posturing and will not tolerate any effort to undermine or interfere with our State Senate’s audit to reassure Arizonans of the accuracy of our elections,” wrote Attorney General Mark Brnovich to Attorney General Merrick Garland.

“We stand ready to defend federalism and state sovereignty against any partisan attacks or federal overreach,” he added.

Garland last week mocked election audits like those in Maricopa County. “Many of the justifications proffered in support of these post-election audits and restrictions on voting have relied on assertions of material vote fraud in the 2020 election that have been refuted by law enforcement and intelligence agencies,” he said. State Plans To Kill Death Row Inmates With Same Gas Used at Auschwitz

Arizona is preparing to use hydrogen cyanide, the same poison gas used by the Nazis at Auschwitz, to kill its inmates on death row, documents show.

The state’s corrections officials have rehabilitated a gas chamber that has gone unused for 20 years, and have begun to make the deadly gas, according to partially redacted public documents first reported by The Guardian. The documents show that the state has purchased potassium cyanide, sodium hydroxide pellets and sulfuric acid, all of which are ingredients for the poison gas. The documents also show that the state has taken steps to make the chamber “operationally ready.”

“You have to wonder what Arizona was thinking in believing that in 2021 it’s acceptable to execute people in a gas chamber with cyanide gas,” Robert Dunham, executive director of the Death Penalty Information Center, told The Guardian. “Did they have anybody study the history of the Holocaust?”

The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry said it was “prepared to perform its legal obligation and commence the execution process as part of the legally imposed sentence, regardless of method selected,” in a statement to The Washington Post. The department also said that it gave defendants 20 days to choose whether they wanted to die by lethal gas or lethal injection. AZ State Senate Asks Maricopa County To Address ‘Serious Issues’ Found In Audit

The president of the Arizona State Senate asked the chairman of the Maricopa Board of Supervisors in a letter on Tuesday to address “three serious issues that have arisen in the course of the Senate’s ongoing audit of the returns of the November 3, 2020 general election in Maricopa County. “

Arizona State Senate President Karen Fann identified those three issues in her letter to Maricopa County Supervisors Board Chairman Jack Sellers as: (1) ongoing non-compliance with legislative subpoenas, deleted data bases (2) chain of custody and ballot organization anomalies, and (3) deleted data bases.

As Breitbart News reported on December 16:

Arizona Senate Republicans on Tuesday issued subpoenas to the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors for a scanned ballot audit and ‘full forensic audit of ballot tabulation equipment, the software for that equipment and the election management system used in the 2020 general election.’

The audit of Maricopa County’s November 2020 election results began on April 23 and may continue into the summer. (Read more from “AZ State Senate Asks Maricopa County To Address ‘Serious Issues’ Found In Audit” HERE)

Campaign Against 2020 Presidential Ballot Recount Escalates

The Associated Press has characterized the Arizona state Senate’s audit of 2020 presidential election ballots in Maricopa County as an effort prompted by the “fraud fantasies” of Republicans.

The AP said the audit is “ground zero for former President Donald Trump and a legion of his supporters who have refused to accept his loss in Arizona or in other battleground states.”

But libertarian activist and political commentator Wayne Root argued the “over-reaction” by media and Democrats is a sign that they know something was amiss in an election in which Joe Biden’s victory in six battleground states has been contested.

“The fix is in. It’s crystal clear to me now, not only was the election rigged, but so is the post-election. It’s simple psychology,” he said.

“Just look at the absurd reaction, or over-reaction by Democrats. Would anyone dare ban the right to discuss a possible racist police killing? Can you imagine the reaction by liberals, black activists and the ACLU? What if the Minneapolis police permanently banned any discussion of the George Floyd death? What if every black American who tried to give their opinion on Twitter, Facebook or YouTube was banned for life? (Read more from “Campaign Against 2020 Presidential Ballot Recount Escalates” HERE)

DOJ Claims Arizona Audit Is Potentially Violating Election Law

By Daily Caller. The Department of Justice expressed concern that the ongoing audit of 2020 election results in Arizona may violate election law and lead to voter intimidation.

The Department notified Republican State Senate President Karen Fann on Wednesday that it was monitoring the state’s audit of 2.1 million ballots cast in Maricopa County, Arizona, in 2020, according to the Associated Press. DOJ specifically worried that outsourcing the audit to a third-party contractor may violate federal election law that requires elections officials to control ballots for 22 months after an election.

The contractor’s intent to contact voters may also result in future illegal voter intimidation, the DOJ said, the AP reported. Such intimidation may also violate federal statutes on elections.

“Past experience with similar investigative efforts around the country has raised concerns that they can be directed at minority voters, which potentially can implicate the anti-intimidation prohibitions of the Voting Rights Act,” Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Pamela Karlan wrote in the letter, according to the AP. Arizona Democrats, GOP Settle Over 2020 Ballot Review, but Audit Will Continue

By NBC News. Arizona Democrats won concessions Wednesday in settling their challenge to Republicans’ unprecedented audit of 2.1 million ballots cast in the 2020 election, but they failed to block the review as they had sought.

The state Democratic Party had sued the Republican Party and Cyber Ninjas, the Florida-based cybersecurity company it hired to conduct an audit of ballots in Maricopa, the state’s most populous county. . .

The agreement orders Arizona Senate Republicans and Cyber Ninjas, which is run by a supporter of Trump, to allow independent elections experts to observe the process, take aggressive measures to secure personal voter information, turn over details about audit policies and procedures and make those documents public. If there is a breach of the agreement, Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, a Democrat, can take the company and the Senate GOP to court for breach of contract. Arizona Declares State Of Emergency, Deploys National Guard Over Border Crisis

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey (R) has issued a Declaration of Emergency and the deployment of National Guard troops to the state’s southern border to assist local law enforcement with the overwhelming influx of illegal immigrants pouring into the U.S. from Mexico.

Ducey’s office announced the state of emergency Tuesday, saying that “the State will provide up to $25 million in initial funding for the mission” that entails up to 250 guardsmen assisting at border communities by providing medical care in detention centers, installing surveillance cameras, and other services.

The media release noted that U.S. Customs and Border Protection saw more than 170,000 apprehensions at the U.S. southern border in March, nearly 19,000 of which “were unaccompanied children — more than four times the number of kids apprehended in March 2020.”

“The situation in our border communities is just as bad—if not worse—than the coverage we’ve been seeing,” the governor said in a statement. (Read more from “Arizona Declares State Of Emergency, Deploys National Guard Over Border Crisis” HERE)

Arizona Passes New Law Banning Outside Money To Help Run Elections

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey has signed significant election integrity legislation into law.

“With public confidence in our elections in peril, it’s clear our elections must be pristine and above reproach—and the sole purview of government,” Ducey said Friday in a signing letter.

Arizona’s new law prevents private funding from going into elections, such as the $419 million in donations made by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan.

The Zuckerbergs gave a total of $350 million to the Center for Tech and Civic Life, a left-leaning technology group, that in turn issued grants to 2,500 election offices in 49 states. The spending included $5 million for Arizona, according to preliminary data from the Foundation for Government Accountability, The Daily Signal reported March 23.

In a statement to The Daily Signal, Arizona state Rep. Jake Hoffman said that “the passage and signing of House Bill 2569 makes Arizona the first in the nation to fully ban billionaires from influencing the administration and management of Arizona elections.”

Hoffman, a sponsor of the bill, referred to donations such as those made by the Zuckerbergs before the presidential election.

“In 2020, our nation saw a concerning new political tactic wherein big tech billionaires spent nearly half a billion dollars influencing the administration of the general election through a series of nonprofits operated by Democrat political operatives,” Hoffman said, adding:

Arizonans don’t want Democrat billionaires or Republican billionaires influencing the process of our elections.

We have sent a clear message that it doesn’t matter how much money you have, Arizona elections are not for sale.

State Sen. Juan Mendez, D-Tempe, said outside funds are used because Arizona does not have adequate funding for elections, The Associated Press reported.

“It’s easy to make a boogeyman out of billionaires. I don’t like them either. But we put ourselves in this situation,” Mendez said of the Legislature’s budgeting decisions. “Our elections are so underfunded we’ve got counties out there asking for money to do voter outreach.”

In a statement provided to The Daily Signal, Jessica Anderson, executive director of Heritage Action for America, said the new Arizona law will help keep the state’s elections free of outside influencers.

“Arizona lawmakers, including Gov. Doug Ducey and [state] Rep. Jake Hoffman, have been hard at work securing Arizona’s elections,” Anderson said, adding:

The latest bill signed into law, HB 2569, will prevent outside groups and individuals from pouring private money directly into Arizona’s election systems. Arizonans deserve elections free from outside interference, and this law will help restore voters’ trust in their state’s elections.
