The House GOP Member Pushing Obama’s ‘Prison Break’ Bill

“Please remember to arm the alarm before you leave, honey,” I told my wife as I left the house yesterday morning. With the rash of car thefts, vandalism, and home burglaries of late in our suburban Baltimore neighborhood, it feels just like it did when I was a kid in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s.

Although Baltimore is particularly bad, undoubtedly countless millions of Americans who will be casting ballots next year are feeling the same apprehension. Last year, Americans were victims of 1.17 million violent crimes and 8.3 million property crimes. Who is speaking for this silent majority as Obama busts open the prisons and intimidates state and local law enforcement?

Certainly not House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA).

Last month, the Senate Judiciary Committee passed the prison break bill (S. 2123), which would accelerate Obama’s agenda to retroactively release tens of thousands of violent criminals from federal prison. With Mitch McConnell, being the best Senate Majority Leader the Democrats ever had, committed to bringing this bill to the Senate floor, Goodlatte is looking to run the ball into the end zone for Obama by passing it in the House. Instead of using the House as the bulwark against this bill, as was the case with the Gang of 8 amnesty bill, Goodlatte is looking to become the best House Judiciary Committee Chairman the Democrats ever had. He plans to mark up his bill, H.R. 3713, next week.

Sensing some blowback from conservatives, Goodlatte is defending his bill as an improvement of the Senate version, claiming that it contains more limitations on retroactive releases, even though his bill retains most provisions, including the retroactive release of heroin dealers. Most egregiously, he is positing an argument reminiscent of those pushed by Senator Rubio (R-FL) during the amnesty debate in 2013 – that we must respond to Obama’s executive prison break… by implementing a legislative prison break!

How about not giving Obama any tailwinds to push his last remaining priority of his presidency, and instead use his leverage to combat and oppose the prison break?

During the Gang of 8 amnesty bill, proponents first denied the most appalling provisions in their bill. Then, when the evidence against them was too compelling, they dropped a few of the worst provisions. But they missed the broader point that we should not head in this direction during the Obama presidency at all.

The same dynamic is playing out with criminal justice “reform,” which by the way, would result in the release of thousands of criminal aliens – something Goodlatte fails to mention. Moreover, just like the original House Gang of 8 on immigration, the goal with a criminal justice bill in the House is to turn a few provisions into shiny objects enough to pass that chamber and go to conference with the Senate, transmogrifying into something much worse.

As Chairman of the committee, Goodlatte has a front row seat watching the train wreck of Obama’s criminal alien release, his general prison break, and his war on law enforcement. As Obama’s own FBI Director, James Comey, warned “something deeply disturbing is happening all across America.” Even liberal Montgomery County Police Chief Tom Manger, who recently testified in defense of sanctuary cities, noted the danger in release of repeat offenders. “There is a likely chance that they will become our problem again … whether it’s a violent crime, a theft to support a drug habit, or an overdose.”

It truly is a tragedy that there are over 2 million people in prison (although mostly in state prisons). But it’s an even bigger travesty that we have so much violent crime – to the point that only a small percentage of violent crimes result in arrest and incarceration. It’s time to address the root societal problems instead of complaining about the symptoms.

At the core of the social compact and the entire purpose of creating government is the protection of the citizenry against threats to their life and property. Policing domestic violence is primarily the function of local governments, but Obama has violated federalism by intimidating police departments with racially motivated investigations. This is what Goodlatte and the Judiciary Committee should focus on for the remainder of Obama’s presidency. Be part of the solution, not the problem. Promised Bipartisanship, Obama Adviser Found Disappointment

When President Obama first won the White House, he recruited Ray LaHood, a Republican congressman, to join his cabinet. The appointment, Mr. Obama said, “reflects that bipartisan spirit” that would distinguish his presidency.

Seven years later and now out of office, Mr. LaHood has concluded that the opposite turned out to be true. Rather than reflecting the bipartisan spirit of the Obama presidency, Mr. LaHood said his appointment as secretary of transportation came to reflect its failure.

Despite the glowing words, Mr. Obama abandoned his promise to govern across the aisle, Mr. LaHood said in an interview. The only elected Republican in Mr. Obama’s original cabinet, Mr. LaHood said the president never made a sustained effort to reach out and gave up too easily. As a result, he became isolated and reliant on a group of like-minded advisers.

That assessment from a man who served under Mr. Obama for four years punctuates Mr. LaHood’s new memoir, “Seeking Bipartisanship: My Life in Politics,” published last month by Cambria Press. While he expressed warm feelings toward Mr. Obama and approval of many of his policies, Mr. LaHood lamented the partisan fever that characterized his time in office.

“I do not believe the White House ever committed fully to a genuine bipartisan approach to policy making, despite the president’s words to the contrary,” Mr. LaHood wrote in the book, which he produced with Frank H. Mackaman. (Read more from “Promised Bipartisanship, Obama Adviser Found Disappointment” HERE)

Obama ‘Proudly’ Made the Cover of This Disgusting Magazine

President Obama has made history by becoming the first sitting U.S. president to pose for the cover of an LGBT magazine.

Obama is on the cover of Out magazine’s latest Out 100 issue as the publication’s “Ally of the Year.”

“The 44th President of the United States is our Ally of the Year—a president who came to office on a wave of euphoria, appeared to lose momentum halfway through, and has since rallied, helping us secure marriage equality, among other landmark initiatives that are transforming our place in America,” the editors of Out wrote in an article accompanying the cover.

Obama granted a wide-ranging interview to the LGBT publication, weighing in on his administration’s focus on LGBT rights, the “generational difference” in his daughters’ attitudes toward homosexuality and the role the United States could play in challenging the human rights records of more restrictive regimes in Middle Eastern countries.

Obama told the magazine his fight for equality began “from when I was a kid, because my mom instilled in me the strong belief that every person is of equal worth.” (Read more from “Obama ‘Proudly’ Made the Cover of This Disgusting Magazine” HERE)

Obama Asks People to Read TPP Deal Themselves

President Obama on Tuesday morning asked people to make their own judgment about the 12-country Trans-Pacific Partnership trade pact by reading it themselves online.

“Along with the text of the agreement, we’ve posted detailed materials to help explain it,” Obama wrote in an op-ed for Bloomberg. “It’s an unprecedented degree of transparency — and it’s the right thing to do.”

“Not every American will support this deal, and neither will every member of Congress. But I believe that in the end, the American people will see that it is a win for our workers, our businesses and our middle class. And I expect that, after the American people and Congress have an opportunity for months of careful review and consultation, Congress will approve it, and I’ll have the chance to sign it into law,” Obama added.

On Monday, Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., tweeted out a picture showing just how hard it might be for the average person to read the deal. His tweet showed a pile of paper about three feet high on his desk.

Still, Obama defended the agreement as one that would grow the U.S. economy and help the middle class. “That’s why I believe the Trans-Pacific Partnership is so important. It’s a trade deal that helps working families get ahead,” he wrote. (Read more from “Obama Asks People to Read TPP Deal Themselves” HERE)

Common Core Text Portrays White Voters as Obama-Hating Racists

A biography of Barack Obama designed for fourth graders and approved under the new federal Common Core curriculum standards portrays white voters as racists, hell bent on preventing Obama from becoming president.

The book in question, entitled “Barack Obama,” is published by Scholastic, and is now being read by elementary school students under the Common Core program, Red Flag News reports.

The book tells the story of Obama’s historic campaign to become the nation’s first black president. So far so good. But along the way the text paints white voters in a rather unflattering light: “Some people said Americans weren’t ready for that much change. Sure Barack was a nice fellow, they said. But white voters would never vote for a black president,” the book reads.

The book then mentions Obama’s former minister Jeremiah Wright: “Obama’s former pastor called the country a failure,” it reads. “God would damn the United States for mistreating its black citizens, he said.”

The text makes no mention of the fact that millions of white voters did, in fact, vote for Obama. Nor does it mention that Obama distanced himself from Wright during his campaign. (Read more from “Common Core Text Portrays White Voters as Obama-Hating Racists” HERE)

Obama Just Got Bad News Straight From the American People- His Response Will Say It All; Obama Leading Us to War in Syria

By F. Peter Brown. Barack Obama recently announced plans to move up to 50 American special forces troops into Syria to function as advisers to rebels who are fighting ISIS.

However, a recent poll indicates that the American public is becoming more and more displeased with Obama’s Middle East strategy.

According to an Associated Press-GfK poll, more than 6 in 10 Americans now oppose Obama’s handling of ISIS in Iraq and Syria.

One Obama administration official stated in August that ISIS remains “as strong as it was a year ago” when U.S. airstrikes against the group began . . .

Patty Watson, a Democrat from Portland, Oregon took a different view. She said: “I feel concerned that we’re getting pulled into that quagmire that just never seems to end.”

Obama had hoped to disentangle the U.S. from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, but will most likely leave three military conflicts ongoing when he leaves office. (Read more from “Obama Just Got Bad News Straight From the American People- His Response Will Say It All” HERE)

Obama Is Leading Us to War in Syria

By Pat Buchanan. “The United States is being sucked into a new Middle East war,” says The New York Times. And the Times has it exactly right.

Despite repeated pledges not to put “boots on the ground” in Syria, President Obama is inserting 50 U.S. special ops troops into that country, with more to follow.

U.S. A-10 “warthog” attack planes have been moved into Incirlik Air Base in Turkey, close to Syria. Hillary Clinton, who has called for arming Syrian rebels to bring down Bashar Assad, is urging Obama to establish a no-fly zone inside Syria. Citing Clinton and Gen. David Petraeus, John McCain is calling for a no-fly zone and a safe zone in Syria, to be policed by U.S. air power. “How many men, women and children,” McCain asks, “are we willing to watch being slaughtered by the Russians and Bashar al-Assad?”

Yet, if we put U.S. forces onto sovereign Syrian territory, against the will and resistance of that government, that is an act of war.

Would we tolerate Mexican troops in Texas to protect their citizens inside our country? Would we, in the Cold War, have tolerated Russians in Cuba telling us they were establishing a no-fly zone for all U.S. warplanes over the Florida Strait and Florida Keys? Sheriff: Obama Is Hallucinating If He Thinks He Improved Race Relations in America [+video]

As for President Barack Obama’s claim that his presidency has helped “mobilize America on behalf of issues of racial disparity,” Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr. said the opposite is true and Obama is “hallucinating if he thinks he has improved race relations in Ameirca.”

On Hannity on Tuesday, part of the discussion focused on race relations in America under Obama. The host, Sean Hannity, and guests Sheriff Clarke and Geraldo Rivera agreed that race relations had become worse under the current administration.

“But as for President Obama, he is hallucinating if he thinks he has improved race relations in America,” said Sheriff Clarke. “The polling shows otherwise. He’s delusional if he really believes that.”

“Look, race relations have always been tenuous in America,” said the sheriff. “Slavery and discrimination have left an ugly scar on the soul of America, but that scar has been healing over the years.”

“President Obama came along with sandpaper, rubbed it raw, and then poured salt in it to inflame it for political gain,” said Sheriff Clarke. “He doesn’t believe that and neither does anybody else.” (Read more from “Sheriff: Obama Is Hallucinating If He Thinks He Improved Race Relations in America” HERE)

Donald Trump Burns Obama’s Debate Critique; Meanwhile, All of Obama’s ‘Achievements’ Are Failing

Trump Shrugs off Obama’s Debate Critique: ‘He Can’t Handle the Country’

By Jeremy Diamond. Donald Trump dismissed Tuesday President Barack Obama’s mocking of the the GOP presidential candidates’ criticism of the CNBC moderators in the last debate.

Trump, whose campaign decided to continue dealing directly with the TV networks rather than forming a united front with other presidential campaigns, said he “doesn’t care too much” about the debate format, instead knocking Obama’s handling of the country.

“They’ve been hitting me one way or the other. I just want to have the debates. I like the debates. They can ask tough questions. … I just want to answer the questions and be done with it, frankly,” Trump said on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

Of Obama’s criticism, Trump added, “He can’t handle the country. He’s doing a terrible job running the country.”

Obama ripped into the GOP’s field of 2016 hopefuls on Monday night, noting that while they’ve knocked him for being “weak” on the international stage, “it turns out they can’t handle a bunch of CNBC moderators.” (Read more from “Donald Trump Burns Obama’s Debate Critique: ‘He Can’t Handle the Country'” HERE)

All of Obama’s ‘Achievements’ Are Failing

By Jennifer Rubin. President Obama’s biggest domestic “accomplishment,” Obamacare, and his biggest foreign policy objective, extracting the United States from the Middle East and redesigning our alliances (Iran in, Israel out), are now Exhibits A and B in the argument for jettisoning the Democrats from the White House. At the very least these issues, combined with a lackluster economy, suggest Hillary Clinton will have trouble running for a “third Obama term.”

On the Obamacare front, CBS News reports, “Sign-up season started Sunday for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, now in year 3. Premiums are going up an average of 7.5 percent, but they could be much higher depending on where you live.” It is not hard to see that if this keeps up we are headed for the infamous “death spiral,” as Sally Pipes, a health-care expert and critic of Obamacare explains . . .

If the domestic scene looks less than attractive for Democrats, the foreign policy front is abysmal. The president’s latest, cynical move to send just 50 Special Operations forces to Syria — but not into combat! — encapsulates the absence of a coherent strategy that will leave the region bloodier, less stable and more violent than when Obama took office.

His latest move on Syria has unsurprisingly been poorly received. Fred Kagan of the American Enterprise Institute writes:

The situation is now beyond dire and all anyone can do is offer first steps that might start to drive it in a more positive direction. But any such steps must begin from the understanding of what this conflict is really about and who must actually resolve it: the Sunni Arabs and the non-Assad Alawite community. Those are the groups that will have to decide to put down their weapons and work out a mutually-acceptable deal. Defeating ISIS will still be hard in that context, but at least it might be both feasible and meaningful.

Leaked DHS Memo Shows Obama Might Circumvent DAPA Injunction

A newly leaked internal DHS memorandum produced for an off-the-record agency conclave reveals that the Obama administration is actively planning to circumvent a federal court injunction that suspended part of last November’s deferral-based amnesty initiative. The document, apparently prepared as follow-up from a DHS “Regulations Retreat” last summer, appears sure to re-ignite concerns in Congress as well as federal judges in the Fifth Circuit. The Administration has already been criticized from the bench for handing out work permits to hundreds of thousands of deferred action beneficiaries, in direct violation of a district court’s order. With the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals deciding any day now whether to deny the Administration’s request to reverse that injunction, this public leak has come at a critical juncture for U.S. enforcement policy.

Last June, four months after Texas federal judge Andrew Hanen’s order to freeze President’s DAPA and Expanded DACA programs—disclosure: the Immigration Reform Law Institute has filed briefs in these cases—DHS’s immigration policy makers apparently held a “Regulations Retreat” to discuss “different options” for “open market Employment Authorization Document (EAD) regulatory changes.” EAD is the statutory term for work permits. From a memo recording these discussions, we now know that the Obama DHS has, rather than pausing to allow the courts to assess the constitutionality of its enforcement nullification initiatives, been gearing up to roll out one or more of four plans drawn up at the meeting, each one designed to provide EADs to millions of nonimmigrants, including those lawfully present and visa overstayers, crippling the actual employment-based visa system on the federal statute-book.

The internal memo reveals four options of varying expansiveness, with option 1 providing EADs to “all individuals living in the United States”, including illegal aliens, visa-overstayers, and H-1B guest-workers, while option 4 provides EADs only to those on certain unexpired non-immigrant visas. Giving EADs to any of the covered individuals, however, is in direct violation of Congress’s Immigration & Nationality Act and works to dramatically subvert our carefully wrought visa system. Obama Admin Split Goes Public: FBI Director and President Disagree on Ferguson

President Obama and his FBI director are sparring over whether the so-called “Ferguson Effect” is real, complicating the president’s push to loosen the nation’s sentencing laws.

The dispute could threaten the growing bipartisan momentum behind a criminal justice reform effort that Obama sees as a top second-term priority.

The question of whether police are reluctant to enforce the law because they are afraid of being videotaped has become the subject of fierce debate, as experts struggle to explain an uptick in violent crime in some U.S. cities.

FBI Director James Comey, a Republican, amplified the argument twice over the past week, suggesting anti-police sentiment fueled by the killings of unarmed black men in places such as Ferguson, Mo., has resulted in a crime spike.

“Some part of the explanation is a chill wind blowing through American law enforcement over the last year. And that wind is surely changing behavior,” Comey said in an October 23 speech at the University of Chicago Law School.
