Dark Money Has Bolstered Bernie’s Campaign From the Start

An outside dark money group has boosted presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders since announcing his campaign last February.

Sanders founded Our Revolution, a 501(c)(4) nonprofit group that can accept unlimited contributions without disclosing the identities of its donors, in 2016, and one campaign finance expert believes the group’s work to help Sanders achieve his presidential aspirations could be violating the law.

“Any entity established by a federal officeholder can only raise and spend money under federal contribution limits for any activities in connection with a federal election,” Paul S. Ryan, a campaign finance expert with the watchdog group Common Cause, told the Associated Press. “Our Revolution was undoubtedly established by Sen. Sanders, is subject to these laws — and is seemingly in violation of them.”

Campaign finance laws state that groups “directly or indirectly established” by federal officeholders such as Sanders can’t “solicit, receive, direct, transfer, or spend funds” for federal electoral activity that exceeds the limitations of the law, which in Our Revolution’s case would be $5,000 per election.

Our Revolution, however, has sent dozens of emails in recent weeks to its supporters touting the work it’s doing to get Sanders elected. The group’s chairman, Larry Cohen, detailed in an email Monday how he had spent a week in Iowa mobilizing 5,000 volunteers to caucus for Sanders. Bernie Sanders Compares Trump Order to Kill Soleimani to Putin Assassinating Russian Dissidents

Democratic socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders compared President Donald Trump’s decision to order an airstrike on Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani to Russian President Vladimir Putin having dissidents executed.

During an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Sanders said the killing of Soleimani will cause “chaos” and “instability.”

“This guy, you know, was, as bad as he was, an official of the Iranian government,” Sanders said of Soleimani. “And, you unleash—then, if China does that, you know, if Russia does that, you know, Russia has been implicated under Putin with assassinating dissidents. So, once you’re in the business of assassination, you unleash some very, very terrible forces. And, what I’m seeing now in this world as a result of Trump’s actions, more and more chaos, more and more instability.”

Whether one agrees with the Soleimani killing or not, Sanders’ comparison is objectively nonsensical. With the strike against Soleimani, the U.S. eliminated a military leader from an adversarial nation who was responsible for American deaths, which is obviously quite different than if the president had ordered the assassination of a domestic political opponent. Bernie Sanders Releases Letter Claiming He Is Healthy Enough for Office

The campaign for Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) released letters from three doctors on Monday, all claiming that the 78-year-old is fit enough to serve as Commander in Chief despite his heart attack and hospitalization three months ago. . .

Bernie 2020 touted statements from Sanders’ primary physician and two cardiologists purportedly “showing he is fit and ready to serve as president of the United States.” . . .

Dr. Philip Ades, director of Cardiac Rehabilitation at the University of Vermont wrote to that despite the medical episode from a few months back, “Mr. Sanders is more than fit enough to pursue vigorous activities and an occupation that requires stamina and an ability to handle a great deal of stress.’

Dr. Ades further noted that Sanders “was able to exercise to a level that is approximately 50 percent higher than other men his age with a similar diagnosis.”

Sanders’ primary physician, Dr. Brian Monahan — who is the attending physician of the United States Congress — wrote in a separate letter, “You are in good health currently and you have been engaging vigorously in the rigors of your campaign, travel, and other scheduled activities without any limitation.” (Read more from “Bernie Sanders Releases Letter Claiming He Is Healthy Enough for Office” HERE)

Bernie Campaign Offers ‘Family Persuasion Guide’ so Supporters Can Ruin Christmas

The Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) presidential campaign is struggling with voters over age 50. It turns out, those who’ve already made their money, paid off their student loans, and are eligible for actual Medicare, aren’t really up for voting for Bernie Sanders, and it’s starting to have an impact on his ability to win in states with early primaries.

So, The Wall Street Journal reports, Sanders is arming his young followers with “family persuasion guides” so that they can more effectively ruin Christmas by injecting politics into the conversation at every opportunity — and it starts by suggesting that students remind their non-socialist parents and grandparents that they’ll be dead one day.

“It’s up to us as students and young people to make the moral appeal to our older relatives to join us in voting for Bernie, because let’s face it: they won’t be around for as long to deal with the consequences of this election, but we will be,” the “Students for Bernie: Family Persuasion Guide” reads.

The campaign isn’t even waiting for young supporters to seek out the guide or offering the book through social media as a free download the way the Obama Administration often did when it wanted its own young supporters to talk about the Affordable Care Act or other legislative priorities at the holiday dinner table. Nope. The campaign actually mailed the guide to around 3,000 committed Bernie-acs before Thanksgiving and will be sending a follow up brochure right before Christmas.

Some parts of the guide build on existing Sanders communications software, like “BERN,” the official peer-to-peer Bernie Sanders canvassing app, but the “Family Persuasion Guide” actually has a very specific target — old people — and it’s part of a much larger strategy: a full-court press on the elderly in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina. WATCH: Bernie Sanders Has Outburst About Being White

2020 presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders was widely panned in the media for his outburst about being white during Thursday’s Democratic debate.

Politico correspondent and moderator Tim Alberta noted a comment made by former President Barack Obama Monday about old men who won’t get “out of the way” being to blame for many world problems.

When Alberta said that Sanders, 78, was the oldest candidate on stage, the Vermont senator interjected, yelling “and I’m white as well!” and an awkward silence followed. . .

Tom Namako, the news director at Buzzfeed News, highlighted the silence that followed Sanders’ comment. Washington Post reporter Amy B. Wang echoed this, tweeting out that his comment was followed by “some awkward silence.”

Culture editor at The Federalist Emily Jashinsky joked that “absolutely no one” had asked Sanders to comment about his race.

Bernie Takes Back Endorsement of Candidate Who Wanted to Legalize Bestiality

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders retracted his endorsement of Democratic congressional candidate Cenk Uygur just one day after announcing it.

Uygur, founder of the left-wing media outlet “The Young Turks,” has come under fire for past comments, including one where he said certain kinds of bestiality should be legal. Despite this and multiple videos showing crude comments about women, the Vermont senator endorsed the congressional candidate Thursday.

“As I said yesterday, Cenk has been a longtime fighter against the corrupt forces in our politics and he’s inspired people all across the country,” Sanders said in a statement announcing his retraction Friday. . .

Videos posted by M. Mendoza Ferrer on Twitter in November show Uygur making inappropriate remarks about women. He discussed a rating system for women, adding in what “score” the woman would have to be for her to “suck your dick.” Another video from 2013 shows Uygur discussing bestiality and talking about how “hot” women from the Dominican are.

“Here comes the controversial part I shouldn’t say,” Uygur said, according to one of the videos. “I believe that if I were the benevolent dictator of the world, I would legalize bestiality where you are giving, you are pleasuring the animal.” (Read more from “Bernie Takes Back Endorsement of Candidate Who Wanted to Legalize Bestiality” HERE)

Bernie Sanders Staffer Departs over Anti-Semitic, Homophobic Tweets

A staffer for 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders reportedly departed last week over anti-Semitic and homophobic tweets.

Darius Khalil Gordon, who joined the Vermont senator’s campaign in November, announced Wednesday his new position as deputy director of constituency organizing for the campaign, the Washington Free Beacon reported. A Sanders campaign spokesman told CNN the campaign no longer employed Gordon following the Thursday Free Beacon report that examined a variety of Gordon’s tweets. . .

Most of the tweets that brought Gordon under fire are from 2011 and 2010 and include slurs against Jewish people, gay people and women.

“I got a black mans body, white mans power, jew man money, and an asian man life span..lol,” Gordon allegedly tweeted in July 2011, according to a screenshot from the Free Beacon. Another screenshot shows a September 2010 tweet in which Gordon allegedly said, “Working hard so one day I can make that Jew money.” . . .

Now Hillary Thinks Bernie Sanders Is a Russian Asset

Hillary Clinton gave an interview to Howard Stern on Wednesday where she implicated Bernie Sanders into her Russian conspiracy theory that she credits with costing her the 2016 presidential election.

While elaborating on her conspiracy theory of how Russia stole the election from her, the two-time presidential loser told Howard Stern that the Russians also wanted to do everything they could to help elect Bernie Sanders.

“You know, basically, [the Russians] were like, hey, let’s do everything we can to elect Donald Trump,” Hillary explained to Stern. “Those are words. And they also said Bernie Sanders, but, you know, that’s for another day.” . . .

In October, Clinton accused Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard of being a “Russian asset,” who Clinton believes the Russians are now grooming to run as a third-party candidate in 2020. In the same interview, Hillary accused Jill Stein, the Green Party’s nominee for president in 2016, of being a Russian asset who helped cause Clinton’s loss to President Trump in 2016.

Not sure how implicating other candidates into her Russian collusion theory helps the Democrats “join forces,” or the fact that Clinton sees no path forward for Bernie Sanders to clinch the Democratic nomination. (Read more from “Now Hillary Thinks Bernie Sanders Is a Russian Asset” HERE)

Report: Obama Warned He Would Intervene to Stop Bernie, Had Cutting Words for Biden

Former President Barack Obama once warned he would intervene to stop Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., from winning the Democratic presidential nomination, according to a new report that sheds light on Obama’s personal views of the jam-packed primary field with no clear front-runner.

Obama has largely stayed on the sidelines to date, refraining from any endorsements though he has issued general warnings to the party to avoid calls for radical upheaval in their policy pitches. These warnings were seen as a swipe at candidates like Sens. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and Sanders.

But a new Politico Magazine report gives a clearer picture of what Obama is worried about — claiming he has said in private he’d speak out against Sanders if it looked like he could actually win.

“Back when Sanders seemed like more of a threat than he does now, Obama said privately that if Bernie were running away with the nomination, Obama would speak up to stop him,” the report says. An Obama spokesperson, however, reportedly noted that the former president has stated that he would get behind the Democratic nominee regardless of who it is. . .

“I can’t really confirm that,” the adviser said, regarding the possibility of Obama trying to stop Sanders. “He hasn’t said that directly to me. The only reason I’m hesitating at all is because, yeah, if Bernie were running away with it, I think maybe we would all have to say something. But I don’t think that’s likely. It’s not happening.” (Read more from “Report: Obama Warned He Would Intervene to Stop Bernie, Had Cutting Words for Biden” HERE)
