Sanders Says He Would ‘Absolutely’ Consider Imposing Sanctions on Brazil Over Amazon Rainforest Fires

By The Hill. Presidential contender Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) said he would “absolutely” consider imposing sanctions on Brazil over the raging wildfires in the Amazon rainforest if he became president.

“What is going on in Brazil is extremely dangerous,” Sanders told Hill.TV, noting that that the region serves as a vital oxygen source for the rest of the world.

“We would use all of the tools at our disposal … to try to make sure that we stop the burning of the Amazon, and in fact, that we work with the entire world to move forward to protect the planet,” he added. . .

Trump has offered praise for the far-right leader amid the heightened criticism.

“He is working very hard on the Amazon fires and in all respects doing a great job for the people of Brazil – Not easy. He and his country have the full and complete support of the USA!” Trump tweeted on Tuesday. Brazil’s Bolsonaro says he will accept aid to fight Amazon fires

By CBS News. A day after Brazil rejected aid from G-7 countries to fight wildfires in the Amazon, the Brazilian leader has said Tuesday that his government will accept all foreign aid from organizations or countries — as long as it can decide how to use the assistance. President Jair Bolsonaro originally said he would only accept help if French President Emmanuel Macron apologized to him personally for perceived insults first.

“Brazilian sovereignty is not negotiable,” said Bolsonaro’s spokesperson, according to the Reuters news agency. The president also said dialog with France isn’t off the table. (Read more from “Brazil’s Bolsonaro Says He Will Accept Aid to Fight Amazon Fires” HERE)

Bernie Tries to Praise Communist China, Accidentally Praises Capitalism

Socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who is one of the leading Democratic presidential candidates, attempted to praise communist China on Tuesday during an interview with The Hill and accidentally ended up promoting capitalism.

“China is a country that is moving unfortunately in a more authoritarian way in a number of directions,” Sanders told Hill.TV’s Krystal Ball. “But what we have to say about China in fairness to China and it’s leadership is if I’m not mistaken they have made more progress in addressing extreme poverty than any country in the history of civilization, so they’ve done a lot of things for their people.”

What Sanders did not acknowledge was that free-market principles are what allowed China to lift millions of its citizens out of poverty. Forbes reports:

…never before in history have so many people escaped poverty in such a short time as in the past decades in China. According to official World Bank figures, the percentage of extremely poor people in China in 1981 stood at 88.3%. By 2015 only 0.7% of the Chinese population was living in extreme poverty. In this period, the number of poor people in China fell from 878 million to less than ten million…

…China’s success provides clear evidence of the power of capitalism. Under Mao, the state had an omnipotent grip over China’s economy. What has happened over the past few decades can be summed up in a few sentences: China has progressively embraced the tenets of free-market economics, introduced private ownership, and gradually reduced the influence of the once all-powerful state over the Chinese economy. That the state still plays a major role today is simply because China is in the midst of a transformation process that began with complete state dominance of the economy.

Bernie Sanders Unveils Most Extreme Climate Change Plan of All 2020 Dems

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (Vt.) released a climate change plan Thursday that far exceeds the plans of other Democrats in both ambition and cost, according to the New York Times.

Sanders, who supported the infamous Green New Deal posted by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), gave his plan the same title and wants to eliminate fossil fuel use completely by 2050.

The Sanders plan carries a price tag of $16.3 trillion, including $200 billion committed to assisting poor nations in dealing with climate change and its impacts. . .

Sanders said his plan will pay for itself in 15 years by imposing fees on the fossil fuel industry and eliminating subsidies, scaling back military spending, and increasing tax revenue through new renewable energy jobs. Sanders claimed that the plan would create 20 million jobs. . .

Sanders’ plan does not embrace nuclear energy, instead calling for a moratorium on nuclear power plant license renewals and referring to nuclear energy as a “false solution.” For some, that undermines the value of the plan. Watch: Sen. Bernie Sanders Trashed ‘Third World’ Baltimore Years Before Trump Did

. . .Before diving into issues like Sanders’ Medicare-for-all plan, [CNN’s Jake] Tapper asked the senator and 2020 Democratic presidential candidate about President Trump’s recent remarks regarding Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) and the city of Baltimore:

TAPPER: I know you want to talk about issues, but I do also want to talk about what President Trump said about your former colleague in the House Elijah Cummings and his district being “a disgusting rat and rodent infested mess that no human being would want to live in.” What’s your response?

SANDERS: Jake, it’s unbelievable that we have a president of the United States who attacks American cities, who attacks Americans, who attacks somebody who’s a friend of mine. Elijah Cummings is one of the most decent and outstanding members of the House of Representatives. He fights every day to improve life in his community.

. . .

Also on Sunday, the official “Trump War Room” Twitter account released a video from 2015 in which Sen. Sanders disparages West Baltimore:

But anyone who took the walk that we took around this neighborhood would not think you’re in a wealthy nation; you would think that you were in a Third World country. … But today, what we’re talking about is a community in which half of the people don’t have jobs. We’re talking about a community in which there are hundreds of buildings that are uninhabitable. We’re talking about a community where kids are unable to go to schools that are decent.

Bernie Sanders Campaign Hit With Unfair Labor Practice Complaint

Senator Bernie Sanders’ 2020 presidential campaign has been hit with an unfair labor practice complaint, the National Labor Relations Board made public late Monday night. The complaint was filed on July 19 by an individual in Indiana who claims that the Sanders campaign took part in illegal employee interrogation and retaliation against staffers.

According to Bloomberg Law, “A copy of the charge has not yet been made public, but the agency’s July 22 docket lists five potential violations of the National Labor Relations Act.” . . .

The complaint is just more embarrassing news for the self-identified democratic socialist. Over the weekend, as reported by The Daily Wire, Sanders had to cut staffers’ hours to accommodate his routinely-advocated $15 minimum wage. . .

Sanders additionally blasted leaks to the media before his Iowa trip: “We are disappointed that some individuals have decided to damage the integrity of these efforts. We are involved in negotiations. And some are individuals that have decided to damage the integrity of that process before they were concluded,” he said. . .

As noted by Bloomberg Law, it’s unclear if the National Labor Relations Board will find any merit to the complaint, since “any person” is allow to file, per the board’s site. “The charge filing will initiate a preliminary investigation by the labor board’s Indianapolis office to determine if there is merit to the allegations,” the outlet reported. “The board’s lawyers will then decide whether to move the case forward or dismisses it.” (Read more from “Bernie Sanders Campaign Hit With Unfair Labor Practice Complaint” HERE)

Bernie Sanders Single-Handedly Exposes the Democrats’ EXTREME Minimum Wage Fraud

Bernie Sanders has some well-earned egg on his face after he cut campaign employees’ hours in order to meet their demands for a $15 an hour wage.

The move isn’t surprising to anyone with a basic grasp of how economics works. Mandating a higher wage doesn’t mean that the resources to pay for it are magically going to appear. It’s the same reason why the Congressional Budget Office predicted that the recent $15 minimum wage bill passed by the House could kill almost 4 million jobs. (It also might just be why a 2017 report found that pro-wage-hike politicians still like using unpaid intern labor.)

But this debate isn’t just theoretical or contained to Washington, D.C.; jacked-up forced minimum wages have cost people their jobs all over the country in recent years. Here’s just a small sample of the mountain of evidence that could have saved Sanders from this latest embarrassment:

Earlier this month, Restaurants Unlimited filed for bankruptcy, citing new wage costs.

Back in March, an upstate New York bartender said that Hollywood actresses “need to butt out” of New York’s wage debate while another explained that “immigrant support staff will be the first to be fired” if wages go up.

In 2018, Red Robin fired all of its busboys in order “to address the labor increases we’ve seen.”

When Seattle’s minimum wage went up to $13 per hour, a report found that it actually lowered low-wage earners’ income. A Seattle pizza guy loved the new $15 wage, right up until it cost him his job.

It’s already expensive to eat out in New York City. It got more expensive when they hiked up the minimum wage.

Walmart responded to the minimum wage campaign by adding a fleet of robots.

McDonald’s announced that it’s increasing kiosk use at its restaurants while giving up lobbying to keep wage costs low.

A former McDonald’s CEO warned back in 2016 that “it’s cheaper to buy a $35,000 robotic arm than it is to hire an employee who’s inefficient making $15 an hour bagging French fries.”

Back in 2016, then-California Governor Jerry Brown admitted that raising the minimum wage to $15 “may not make [economic] sense,” given the evidence against it.

“Unfortunately, the real minimum wage is always zero, regardless of the laws,” economist Thomas Sowell famously explained in “Basic Economics,” “and that is the wage that many workers receive in the wake of the creation or escalation of a government-mandated minimum wage, because they either lose their jobs or fail to find jobs when they enter the labor force.”

Then again, if self-described socialists were to heed the economic lessons of history, they probably wouldn’t be socialists in the first place. (For more from the author of “Bernie Sanders Single-Handedly Exposes the Democrats’ Minimum Wage Fraud” please click HERE)

WATCH: The Question from MSNBC’s Kasie Hunt That Made Bernie Visibly Agitated

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) sat down with MSNBC’s Kasie Hunt to talk about the 2020 race. One of the questions Hunt asked was simple: “If it’s clear that you are not going to be the Democratic nominee, will you leave the race before the convention?”

Sanders refused to say what he would do. . .

“Some people say that if maybe that system was not rigged against me [in 2016], I would have won the nomination and defeated Donald Trump. That’s what some people say. So I think we’re going to play it out,” he explained. “So our goal right now is to win it, and by the way, as you may know, poll after poll shows what against Trump? It shows me beating Trump by 8, 9, or 10 points. We’re going to beat Trump, we’re going to win the Democratic nomination.”

Bernie faced backlash from Democrats back in 2016 when his campaign continued through the Democratic National Convention, even though it was apparent he didn’t have enough delegates to secure the Democratic nomination.

Bernie Sanders Proposes Plan to Wipe out College Debt for About 45M Americans

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) announced on Monday that he will introduce legislation that would eliminate the estimated $1.6 trillion worth of student debt held by around 45 million U.S. citizens.

Sanders claimed that this massive expenditure can be funded by a 0.5 percent tax on all stock trades, a 0.005 percent fee on derivative trades, and a 0.1 percent tax on bond trades. According to the Washington Post, Sanders believes these taxes would raise $2 trillion over a 10-year period. He did not indicate whether or not his plan included research on if this would have an impact on the stock market or stock trading itself.

The proposed plan would also make community colleges and public four-year colleges free. It is not clear at this point what the full cost of Sanders’ plan would be, when subsidies for public colleges is factored in. The debt forgiveness portion of this legislation would necessarily also have some degree of administrative costs. The plan to cancel student debt appears to be a a one-time offer, and not something that would apply to all holders of student debt in the future.

This bill is in line with other proposals for massive government intervention from Sanders, a self-proclaimed democratic socialist.

Sanders called the plan “truly a revolutionary proposal.”

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) will introduce similar legislation in the House of Representatives. The legislation also has the support of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who joined Sanders at a news conference Monday morning to announce the proposal.

Fellow presidential hopeful Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) has also proposed a similar plan for student debt forgiveness. However, unlike Warren’s plan which would eliminate only a percentage of student debt based on the household income of the person holding that debt, Sanders’ plan would eliminate all of the debt for every student in the country. regardless of personal wealth or household income level.

Sanders introduced a similar bill, the “College For All Act,” in 2016. (For more from the author of “Bernie Sanders Proposes Plan to Wipe out College Debt for About 45M Americans” please click HERE)

Bernie’s Medicare for All Plan Just Got More Radical

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) claimed on Friday at the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) Presidential Candidate Forum in Miami that healthcare is a human right that should extend to everyone in the nation including illegal aliens.

Sanders discussed his view that everyone in the nation has a right to healthcare and his goal of establishing Medicare for All.

“Now to answer your question, I will not deny that every country on earth that has a national healthcare program all have problems, that’s the nature of healthcare and a changing technology,” Sen. Sanders said.

“But what I want everybody to understand, is literally starting yesterday, the insurance companies and their drug companies are starting to spend tens and tens of millions of dollars to fight against Medicare for All,” he continued. “And we will organize the American people around the concept that all people in this country have the right to healthcare. And at the end of the day, we are going to win that struggle.” . . .

“We need the best-educated population in the world, and that means we’re gonna make our public colleges and universities tuition-free and open that to the undocumented as well,” the 2020 presidential candidate said.

Bernie Sanders Claims Americans ‘Will Be Delighted to Pay More in Taxes’ but Refuses to Himself

On Wednesday, Democratic Socialist Bernie Sanders spoke with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, demonstrating not only how out of touch he is with what Americans want, but also his blatant hypocrisy.

When asked by Cooper if enough Americans know what socialism looks like, Bernie Sanders went into a laundry list of socialist talking points about what other countries have that we don’t that makes them so much better. Cooper actually pressed him on this point, noting that “the taxes in many of those countries are much higher than they are—individual and personal tax are—much higher than they are in the United States.” . . .

It’s bad enough that Bernie pretends to believe Americans want to pay more in taxes, but it’s even worse that he makes this claim when he personally chooses not to pay more in taxes. When he released his 2014 tax returns during the 2016 presidential elections, he paid an effective tax rate of 13.5 percent on a joint income of $205,271, which is lower than the average income tax rate for that income.

Bernie Sanders has also been called out for accepting tax breaks that he campaigns against, and, once he became a millionaire after writing his bestselling book, not voluntarily paying the tax rate he says millionaires should pay. Bernie Sanders is the epitome of why socialism doesn’t work. He knows that as part of the elite he won’t have to live under the same rules as non-one-percenters will in a socialist system. Socialism for thee, not for me. (Read more from “Bernie Sanders Claims Americans ‘Will Be Delighted to Pay More in Taxes’ but Refuses to Himself” HERE)
