Female Border Patrol Agent Assaulted by Illegal Alien

A migrant woman allegedly assaulted a female U.S. Border Patrol agent in Laredo, Texas. The alleged assault occurred as the agent attempted to place two migrant women into custody.

“On May 7, 2021, a female Border Patrol agent was assaulted by an undocumented individual as the agent attempted to place the individual under arrest,” Laredo Sector officials said in a statement on May 18. “The agent received medical treatment at a local medical facility.”

The incident took place at about 9:50 p.m. on May 7, according to the Laredo Morning Times. The agent observed suspicious activity near the HEB grocery store parking lot. The agent approached the two women who began to evade arrest, a criminal complaint published by the local newspaper revealed.

Border Patrol Arrests Two Illegal Aliens On FBI Terror Watch List

Two illegal immigrants from Yemen have been arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Protection near Calexico, California. Both men were included on the FBI’s Terrorism Watch List and No-Fly list, CBP reported.

A 33-year-old and 26-year-old, both males, were apprehended in the past few months who appeared on both government watch lists. The older man was arrested during the night of January 29, during which border patrol agents “found a cellular phone sim card hidden underneath the insole of his shoe.” He was transferred into the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The second illegal alien was arrested in late March and is in “federal custody pending removal.”

“Part of the Border Patrol’s mission states we will protect the country from terrorists,” Chief Patrol Agent Gregory K. Bovino said in a press release. “Today, like every other day, our agents did that. Twitter Suspends U.S. Border Chief for Celebrating Wall’s Protection From Illegal Aliens

Twitter suspended U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Mark Morgan for a post celebrating the success of the U.S. southern border wall keeping violent criminals from reaching American communities.

According to screenshots shared exclusively with The Federalist, Twitter locked Morgan’s account Wednesday afternoon for apparently violating platform rules governing “hateful conduct” after the commissioner attempted to tweet about the wall’s benefits.

“You may not promote violence against, threaten, or harass other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or serious disease,” Twitter wrote in an email explaining the suspension. As is clear from the banned post’s text, the commissioner did not threaten anyone based on race, national origin, or anything else. . .

In recent weeks, the commissioner had been free to publish content on the site touting the accomplishments of border agents keeping America safe. It’s not clear what has recently changed in Twitter’s algorithm or policing that resulted in this post’s shutdown of his account when other similar posts went unblocked. Stolen Weapons Cache Seized in California After Border Patrol Operation

El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents teamed up with local law enforcement officers to recover a stash of stolen firearms and ammunition near the California border with Mexico. The suspects, Mexican nationals, allegedly stole the weapons from Yuma, Arizona.

Imperial County Sheriff’s Office detectives began an investigation on April 29 into a large number of firearms and ammunition reportedly stolen in Yuma, Arizona. El Centro Sector Special Operations Detachment (SOD) Border Patrol agents and the Yuma Police Department assisted in the investigation, according to information provided by El Centro Sector Border Patrol officials.

The El Centro Sector SOD agents joined with the ICSO investigators to execute multiple search warrants in Calexico, California. During the searches, the investigators found 11 firearms and a large quantity of “military-grade ammunition,” officials reported. Border Patrol Catches Child Sex Offender Attempting to Illegally Enter the U.S.

Border Patrol agents on Thursday apprehended a 29-year-old Honduran national after he unlawfully entered United States territory via the Arizona-Mexico border.

Rudy Chirinos-Hernandez was arrested by agents patrolling the desert near Sells, Arizona, according to a press release by Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Following his apprehension, agents conducted a records check and discovered that Hernandez had been convicted of sexual assault against a minor — a felony offense — in 2012 in Dallas, Texas.

The Honduran national was handed a two-year prison sentence. It’s not immediately clear when he was deported out of the United States.

“Hernandez was initially brought to a mobile command center for expulsion under Title 42 authority,” the CBP press release read, noting how the records check revealed his past criminal activity. “Therefore, prosecution for re-entry of a convicted felon was sought instead of immediate expulsion to Mexico.”

CBP was referring to one of two different authorities the agency is utilizing: Title 42 and Title 8. Per Title 8, migrants who are apprehended between ports of entry are processed at a Border Patrol station and, if at all possible, are deported. Pentagon Sends Troops to Southern Border as SCOTUS Prepares to Decide on ‘Remain in Mexico’ Policy

By National Review. The Pentagon announced on Thursday that it will send a crisis force of 160 troops to two points on the U.S.–Mexico border as the Supreme Court prepares to decide whether to hear a case that could decide the fate of the Trump administration’s “Remain in Mexico” policy.

The “Remain in Mexico” policy requires asylum seekers to reside in Mexico as they wait to receive an asylum hearing in the U.S. On February 28, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in favor of a lower-court decision blocking the policy. A stay of the 9th Circuit’s ruling was issued hours later to give the Supreme Court time to decide whether to hear the case, and the Court is expected to announce its decision on Wednesday. Troops Forming Crisis Response Forces at U.S.-Mexico Border Checkpoints

By Military Times. About 160 soldiers deployed along the U.S.-Mexico border are forming crisis response teams at two points of entry, the Defense Department announced Friday.

Members of the 687th Engineer Construction Company and the 519th Military Police Battalion, both based at Fort Polk, Louisiana, will move to San Ysidro, California, and El Paso, Texas, to assist Customs and Border Patrol, according to a release.

There they will “emplace temporary barriers to restrict access through ports of entry and provide force protection for CBP personnel as they perform their federal functions,” Pentagon spokesman Lt. Col. Christian Mitchell said in a statement.

The soldiers are part of the roughly 5,000 active-duty and National Guard troops who have been rotating to the southern border since late 2018, in response to President Trump’s declaration of emergency due to the flow of migrants illegally crossing the border.

The Texas National Guard will also send members of the 136th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade to Brownsville, Texas, for quick reaction force training, Mitchell said. (Read more from “Troops Forming Crisis Response Forces at U.S.-Mexico Border Checkpoints” HERE)

Greyhound To Stop Allowing Border Patrol Agents To Conduct Immigration Checks On Buses

Greyhound said Friday it would prohibit U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents without a warrant from boarding its buses to conduct immigration checks as bus companies continue to face pressure from civil rights advocates over the practice.

The announcement comes after an Associated Press report said a Jan. 28 Border Patrol memo contradicted Greyhound’s stance that it had to allow the agents on its buses under federal law.

The company has maintained it didn’t agree with the checks but had no choice but to comply.

The memo addressed to all chief patrol agents and signed by then-Border Patrol Chief Carla Provost before her retirement said agents can’t board private buses without consent from bus companies.

“When transportation checks occur on a bus at non-checkpoint locations, the agent must demonstrate that he or she gained access to the bus with the consent of the company’s owner or one of the company’s employees,” the memo states. Border Patrol Just Released New Illegal Crossing Numbers and It’s Clear Trump’s Policies Are Working

By Townhall. U.S. Customs and Border Protection released new apprehension numbers Monday afternoon proving President Trump’s tough border security policies are working.

“During the month of August, CBP apprehended or deemed inadmissible a total of 64,006 people. For July, that number was 82,055. This represents a decline of approximately 22%. Moreover, the August number reflects a decline of 56% since the May peak, which was a staggering 144,255,” Acting CBP Commissioner Mark Morgan announced.

Morgan released the numbers from the White House and stressed that while new policies are working, there is still a crisis at the border. Congress, which is back in session today after August recess, must change weak asylum laws and stop catch-and-release.

“President Trump negotiated with Guatemala to have migrants apply for asylum there rather than making the journey to the U.S. Thanks to President Trump’s negotiating, Mexico agreed to step up enforcement at their own borders and stop the flood of migrants from reaching the U.S. Mexico has apprehended about 134,000 people in just the past few months since the U.S. and Mexico reached the agreement. We have expanded the Migrant Protection Protocols to allow more asylum seekers to wait in Mexico while their cases proceed. As of September 1st, CBP has returned more than 41,500 individuals to Mexico under MPP,” the White House released in response to the significant decline.
