Conservative Activist Charlie Kirk Fatally Shot at Utah University; No Arrests Made (VIDEO)

Charlie Kirk, the prominent conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed Wednesday during a speaking event at Utah Valley University (UVU). He was 31 years old.

The fatal incident occurred during the opening stop of Kirk’s “American Comeback Tour.” The event, held under a white tent on the UVU campus, was open to the public and had drawn both supporters and critics. According to witnesses and video footage, a single gunshot rang out as Kirk addressed the crowd. He was seen reaching for his neck before collapsing, as panicked attendees fled the scene.

Kirk was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries. Officials have not yet confirmed the shooter’s identity, and no suspect is currently in custody—despite initial reports from the university suggesting an arrest had been made.

Former President Donald Trump confirmed Kirk’s death on Truth Social, calling him a “great” and “legendary” figure.

“No one understood or had the heart of the youth in the United States of America better than Charlie,” Trump wrote. “He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me… Melania and my sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika and family. Charlie, we love you!”

Kirk had long been a close ally of Trump, championing his policies on college campuses and becoming one of the most recognizable faces in conservative youth politics.

The FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) have launched a joint investigation. UVU campus security is working in coordination with federal authorities.

According to law enforcement sources, the shot may have come from a distance, possibly from a nearby building. No weapon has been recovered as of Thursday morning.

Kirk’s appearance on campus had stirred tension in the days leading up to the event. The UVU Review, the university’s student-run newspaper, reported student opposition to his presence. Despite those protests, the event proceeded with an open invitation to the public.

In the hours following the attack, lawmakers from both sides of the political aisle issued statements condemning political violence and calling for unity.

“We may not agree with one another, but violence is never the answer,” said Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN). “This was a cowardly act against a young man exercising his right to free speech.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) called the shooting “a tragedy and a threat to civil discourse in America.”

Charlie Kirk rose to national prominence after founding Turning Point USA in 2012 at just 18 years old. The organization aimed to promote conservative values among young Americans, particularly on high school and college campuses. He later became a vocal supporter of Donald Trump and was known for hosting high-energy campus events, debates, and podcast appearances.

Over the past decade, Kirk became a polarizing figure in American politics. Supporters praised him as a bold defender of conservative values.

Sick People On Internet Mock Charlie Kirk

Charlie Kirk was shot at a Utah Valley University event in the afternoon of Sept. 10. Most offered prayers. Others, mockery.

“He fought so hard for the guns. Thoughts and prayers,” wrote Pablo Manríquez, an editor at Migrant Insider.

“Do not be bullied, cowed, or shamed by bad-faith right-wing actors and MAGA that are blaming ‘liberals’ and everyone who isn’t MAGA for Charlie Kirk,” wrote writer Wajahat Ali. “Call them out for their hypocrisy. Go on offense. They are fine with political violence and mass shootings when it’s against the rest of us.”

MSNBC aired a segment where Mathew Dowd responds to the shooting by suggesting Kirk may have inspired the violence against him.

“You can’t stop with these sort of awful thoughts you have, and then saying these awful words, and then not expect awful actions to take place, and that’s the unfortunate environment we’re in.”

Dear MSNBC: Refer to the First Amendment. Americans have the liberty to say whatever “awful thoughts” they might have, free from fear of physical retaliation.

Turning Point Action Identifies 4.5 Million ‘Disengaged’ GOP Voters Across 10 Battleground States

Turning Point Action, the political arm of conservative movement leader Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point USA, has identified more than 4.5 million so-called “disengaged” Republican voters in several battleground states around the country, enough to more than swing the 2024 presidential election’s results from 2020.

The group is holding its first-ever Restoring National Confidence event at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip on Monday and Tuesday, flying in county GOP chairs from 75 of the top 100 battleground counties across the country. The event—contrasting the Republican National Committee (RNC) winter meetings, which will happen from January 30 to February 3 in the same city—is designed, as Breitbart News has reported, to show things the event organizers, which include some of the 168 members of the RNC, should be doing. The counter event’s name—Restoring National Confidence—even trolls the RNC with the same acronym as the national Republican Party committee.

“It’s a turnout game,” Kirk, who leads Turning Point, told Breitbart News. “It’s the exact opposite of what people would have believed. I’m very, very focused and have been for quite some time and will continue to be on these numbers. I believe it’s all going to come down to three states. Trump is going to win Iowa. He’ll win Ohio. He’ll win North Carolina by a little bit—it’s not going to be a blowout. He’ll win Florida by a million votes, so I don’t think Trump should even actively campaign in Iowa, Ohio, and Florida. It’s got to be all in on Arizona, Georgia, and Wisconsin. Georgia, I’m feeling better and better about. Republicans are really coming home. They’re outpacing Democrats 1.5 to one in voter registration. Arizona, I think we’re beginning to get our act together. We’re headquartered there. We have a great new state party chair who really knows what she’s doing. Wisconsin, I’m worried about. The problem is, when I talk to some of these people, they say, ‘Oh my goodness, maybe Pennsylvania.’ I’m not that bullish on Pennsylvania. It’s a big state. If Pennsylvania falls, that means Wisconsin also falls. Look, it’s a turnout election. I really believe that, and it comes down to: Can we really turn out another 50,000 to 60,000 more Republican voters?”

Interestingly, here on Monday morning, the county-level GOP chairs from around the nation were provided with binders that include precinct-specific data in their counties as well as state-level data on what Turning Point Action’s Tyler Bowyer—also the Republican National Committeeman from Arizona—has deemed “low propensity GOP voters.” The definition, loosely applied, is basically voters who have been identified as likely to vote for the Republican for president who did not vote in the 2016 or 2020 presidential elections.
