Rumors of U.S. Secretly Harboring Top China Official Swirl; Pushing Against China, U.S. Lawmakers Plan Pro-Taiwan Bill

By The Daily Beast. Chinese-language anti-communist media and Twitter are abuzz this week with rumors that a vice minister of State Security, Dong Jingwei defected in mid-February, flying from Hong Kong to the United States with his daughter, Dong Yang.

Dong Jingwei supposedly gave the U.S. information about the Wuhan Institute of Virology that changed the stance of the Biden administration concerning the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dong is, or was, a longtime official in China’s Ministry of State Security (MSS), also known as the Guoanbu. His publicly available background indicates that he was responsible for the Ministry’s counterintelligence efforts in China, i.e., spy-catching, since being promoted to vice minister in April 2018. If the stories are true, Dong would be the highest-level defector in the history of the People’s Republic of China.

Dong’s defection was raised by Chinese officials last March at the Sino-American summit in Alaska, according to Dr. Han Lianchao, a former Chinese foreign ministry official before defecting after the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre. In a Wednesday tweet, Han, citing an unnamed source, alleged that China’s foreign minister Wang Yi and Communist Party foreign affairs boss Yang Jiechi demanded that the Americans return Dong, and U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken refused. Pushing Against China, U.S. Lawmakers Plan Pro-Taiwan Bill

By Reuters. Democratic and Republican members of the U.S. House of Representatives will introduce legislation this week seeking to boost U.S. support for Taiwan, part of an effort in Congress to take a hard line in dealings with China.

Representatives Ami Bera and Steve Chabot, the Democratic and Republican leaders of the House Foreign Affairs Committee’s Asia subcommittee, will introduce the “Taiwan Peace and Stability Act,” a measure “to support the diplomatic, economic and physical space” of the self-governing island.

“Hopefully we’re able to pass something in a bipartisan way on the House floor,” Bera said in a telephone interview. “I think this is an area where we can hopefully speak with one voice.”

Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry expressed thanks for the show of support, and said it would pay close attention to the bill’s progress. (Read more from “Pushing Against China, U.S. Lawmakers Plan Pro-Taiwan Bill” HERE)

Defecting Officer: China Uses Genital Torture on Uyghurs, Breaks Limbs With Hammers

A witness at this week’s Uyghur Tribunal in London, identifying himself as a former Chinese law enforcement officer, testified that his colleagues regularly used torture devices and severely brutalized victims in the nation’s Uyghur concentration camps, the human rights magazine Bitter Winter reported on Thursday.

The tribunal concluded on Monday, featuring over 30 witnesses, both former officers and former inmates in the concentration camps, detailing their experiences under the Chinese Communist Party. China is believed to be running over 1,000 concentration camps in Xinjiang, its westernmost region and home to the majority of the nation’s Uyghur ethnic minority. In addition to Uyghurs, who are majority Sunni Muslim, individuals belonging to other Muslim ethnic minorities, primarily Kazakhs and Kyrgyz people, have also disappeared into the camps.

In 2019, the Pentagon estimated that as many as 3 million people were trapped in Chinese concentration camps. Since then, China has moved thousands of Uyghurs into factories throughout the country to engage in slave labor and moved some into Xinjiang’s cotton fields to pick cotton by force. China has also implemented a massive forced sterilization campaign to prevent the growth of the Uyghur ethnic group. Both the administrations of Presidents Donald Trump and Joe Biden have deemed the evidence regarding the treatment of Uyghurs in Xinjiang to constitute the international crime of genocide.

The former police witness at the Uyghur tribunal used the pseudonym “Wang Keizhan” and said he worked in the camps in 2019. He has since fled the country for Germany, from which he testified. He stated he believed that he was among 150,000 rookie law enforcement officers Beijing flooded Xinjiang with to staff the prisons.

While there, he said, superiors encouraged the recruits to use as many types of egregious torture on those in the camps as possible. Among the types of torture described were a form of pseudo-drowning in which “their limbs were tied, and waterpipes were inserted in their mouth to force water into their lungs.” Some had their limbs hammered into pieces. The officer also confirmed the use of electric devices on men’s genitals to torture them, corresponding to testimonies from women trapped in the camps who have previously said that officers raped them with electric batons. Similar to the water torture, some victims had a plastic bag tied around their heads to suffocate them to near-death, he said. Heinous Senate Bill Enables Splicing Murdered Babies With Animals

The U.S. Innovation and Competition Act, or so-called “Endless Frontier Act,” has been lauded as a force against China’s technological dominance, but it’s turning into a giant pile of special-interest pork that increases taxpayer outlays for grotesque medical research that splices the bodies of animals with those of aborted human babies.

After weeks of Senate floor debate and more than 600 proposed amendments, the Senate will vote on the bill, first introduced by Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and Sen. Todd Young, R-In., this Tuesday. Growing concern from Senate Republicans over its ethical and practical effectiveness and its $250 billion spending surge has undercut support for the bill.

The bill’s purpose has been watered down by special interest groups undergoing a feeding frenzy on a rare bill that seems likely to pass a narrowly divided Congress. . .

In May, Senate Republicans proposed an amendment that would prohibit the use or development of human-animal chimera, The Federalist reported. Chimera are essentially human-animal hybrids Frankensteined together in labs.

Under this bill, the scandal-plagued National Institute of Health (NIH) would receive billions of dollars for relatively unprotected research. According to guidelines that the NIH will most likely adopt, set by the International Society for Stem Cell Research, “in vitro culture of chimeric embryos (human cells into non- human embryos),” is permitted and allowed, and such research is “reportable, but not typically reviewed by a specialized oversight process.” (Read more from “Heinous Senate Bill Enables Splicing Murdered Babies With Animals” HERE)

Who Is the Nonprofit Exec Who Sent U.S. Taxpayer Money to Wuhan Lab?; Report: NIH-Funded Military Scientist Filed Patent for COVID Vaccine Just After Contagion Emerged

By New York Post. The nonprofit exec whose organization sent nearly $600,000 in US taxpayer money to a Chinese lab that may have been the source of COVID-19 masterminded an effort near the start of the pandemic to squelch the notion that the coronavirus was man-made, a new report reveals.

Peter Daszak, president of the New York City-based EcoHealth Alliance, secretly organized a statement issued by the influential British medical journal The Lancet in February 2020, according to Vanity Fair.

A total of 27 scientists — including Daszak, 55, who trained as a zoologist — signed the statement, which expressed “solidarity with all scientists and health professionals in China.” . . .

The nonprofit, which says it’s “dedicated to protecting wildlife and public health from the emergency of disease,” has received as much as $15 million a year in grant money from various federal agencies, Vanity Fair said.

EcoHealth has used those grants to fund controversial “gain-of-function” research — which can increase the infectiousness and virulence of viruses — at facilities that include the Wuhan Institute of Virology, according to Vanity Fair. Report: NIH-Funded Military Scientist Filed Patent for COVID Vaccine Just After Contagion Emerged

By New York Post. A Chinese Communist Party military scientist who got funding from the National Institutes of Health filed a patent for a COVID-19 vaccine in February last year — raising fears the shot was being studied even before the pandemic became public, according to a new report.

Zhou Yusen, a decorated military scientist for the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) who worked alongside the Wuhan Institute of Virology as well as US scientists, filed a patent on Feb. 24 2020, according to documents obtained by The Australian.

The patent — lodged by the “Institute of Military Medicine, Academy of Military Sciences of the PLA” — was filed just five weeks after China admitted there was human-to-human transmission of the virus, and months before Zhou died under mysterious circumstances, the report noted.

“This is something we have never seen achieved before, raising the question of whether this work may have started much earlier,” Prof. Nikolai Petrovsky from Flinders University told the paper.

Adding to the intrigue, Zhou later died under mysterious circumstances in May last year — something being looked into as part of the international investigation ordered by President Biden, the paper insisted. Google Pushes Chinese Propaganda About South China Sea – With Wikipedia’s Help

A discussion at the Wikipedia Reddit community yesterday noted that Google searches asking if China owns the disputed South China Sea prominently featured a result from the online encyclopedia parroting the Chinese government position that it “enjoys indisputable sovereignty” over the sea. Reddit users noted the line appeared to be taken from a Chinese Foreign Ministry statement quoted in the article, a fact not included in the Google snippet. The line was removed after the Reddit discussion brought it to attention.

This is only the latest case where Google’s prioritizing of Wikipedia for prominently displayed information has spread propaganda or falsehoods.

Numerous territorial disputes exist regarding the South China Sea, most significantly the dispute over the Spratly Islands. Several Southeast Asian countries as well as the communist Chinese government and the government on Taiwan (who each officially claim the islands as governments representing China) dispute control over some or all of the islands. China’s claims in the sea incorporate other islands and together are cited by the government as the basis for its “nine-dash line” territorial claim, which asserts nearly the entire sea is under Chinese sovereignty. Other countries have criticized the claim as overly broad and vague.

The opening post of the discussion on the Wikipedia Reddit community showed a screen-cap of a Google search asking “Does the South China Sea belong to China?” where the “featured snippet” from Wikipedia’s article on “territorial disputes in the South China Sea” seemed to uncritically recite the mainland government’s stance by stating: “China enjoys indisputable sovereignty over the South China Sea and the island. China’s stand is based on historical facts and international law. China’s sovereign rights and positions are formed in the course of history and this position has been held by Chinese Government for long.” Other searches for variations of the question displayed the same snippet.

Such “featured snippets” are reportedly produced by Google’s search engine based on its algorithm determining what “will help people more easily discover what they’re seeking” with the search. Users noted the Google snippet matched a quote on the Wikipedia page from Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Jiang Yu, who was responding to an oil exploration deal India’s oil exploration company had signed with Vietnam’s state oil firm, a deal involving parts of the South China Sea. Clinton Administration Invited the Chinese Army into Sensitive U.S. Military Biodefense Centers

The infiltration of critical Department of Defense and related civilian research programs by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and People’s Liberation Army (PLA) scientists began in the 1990s.

The infestation is now extensive.

Some returned to China with the most advanced knowledge and techniques, but many are still in the United States funded by U.S. taxpayers.

The following is only the tip of the iceberg.

Some of those invited into U.S. military facilities, like Liang-Ming Liu and Dai-Zhi Peng were clearly identified as PLA officers, other CCP scientists and PLA officers hid their backgrounds.

But no one in the Clinton Administration bothered to check.

Jing-Ning Huan, aka Jing-Ning Xun, lists his educational institution as the Shanghai Second Medical University. It is actually the Second Military Medical University of the People’s Liberation Army.

Jing-Ning Huan eventually landed in the laboratory of Dr. Allan Z. Zhou at the University of Pittsburgh. We do not know the full background of Dr. Zhou, but he has since returned to China at the School of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Guangdong University of Technology.

The educational background of Guo-Ping Li is unclear, but she held a permanent position with Bell-Northern Research Ltd. in Canada before accepting a temporary research position studying advanced laser technologies under the same U.S. Army program that brought the PLA officers to the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command.

It is also unclear why Guo-Ping Li is wearing a U.S. Army uniform while studying advanced laser technologies at the U.S. Army Medical Research Detachment in San Antonio, Texas, or what happened to her afterward.

There is a Guo-Ping Li now working for the Chinese space program using laser technologies for radio telescopes.

Under the same Pentagon program, the Clinton Administration recruited Chunyuan Luo and Chunsheng Xiang.

Immediately prior to becoming an employee of the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, Chunyuan Luo worked at the Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Academy of Military Medical Sciences in Beijing, an element of China’s chemical warfare program.

For more than ten years at Walter Reed, Chunyuan Luo studied issues related to chemical warfare including direct collaboration with the US Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland.

After leaving Walter Reed in 2012, Chunyuan Luo became a patent examiner for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office covering the areas of his expertise.

Chunyuan Luo appears on a talent database some consider as an indication of the CCP’s interest or friendship.

Chunsheng Xiang, a citizen of the People’s Republic of China and a CCP member, lied about his nationality being Canadian.

Nevertheless, he was assigned to the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, where he studied the highly pathogenic and potential biological warfare agent, the Ebola virus.

Chunsheng Xiang is now a professor at Zhejiang University and well-connected to the higher echelons of the CCP and the PLA.

It was during the Clinton Administration that the “scientific chain migration” of CCP and PLA scientists began, which has led to a massive infiltration of U.S. research programs and, no doubt, has contributed to China’s biowarfare program.

China Debuts Three-Child Policy To Fight Dramatic Decline in Births

The Communist Party of China announced on Monday it would allow couples to have a maximum of three children, an expansion of the recently imposed “two-child” policy and apparent response to its dismal, and worsening, national birth rates.

China published its 2020 national census this month, finding a modest increase in the population but an extremely low number of annual births. Since 1979, the Communist Party banned married couples from having more than one child, a law that resulted in mass infanticide, forced abortions, and a disproportionately high number of men in the population due to families’ preferences for baby boys.

Dictator Xi Jinping first eased the policy in 2016 to allow two children, but a lack of interest in having children on the part of young couples and a shortage of women of child-bearing age resulted in declining birth rates even after this modification. The policy applies only to ethnic Han women, the majority of the population, but China has implemented a widespread campaign of forced sterilizations of ethnic minority women, particularly Uyghurs, that undercuts its de jure looser permissions for minority families. . .

The “one-child policy” resulted in the killing of 400 million children, or, in Communist Party terminology, it “averted an estimated 400 million births.” (Read more from “China Debuts Three-Child Policy To Fight Dramatic Decline in Births” HERE)

Warning Sounded: China Soon Could Patrol U.S. East Coast

China’s military soon could be patrolling the Atlantic Ocean, not far from some of America’s major population centers, warns China expert Gordon Chang, a Gatestone institute distinguished senior fellow.

The Communist regime “is scouting for a naval base on the west coast of Africa,” he explained in a column at Gatestone.

“In the near future, therefore, Chinese ships could be regularly patrolling off America’s East Coast.”

He cited recent testimony from Gen. Stephen Townsend, commander of U.S. Africa Command.

He revealed that right now, China’s only offshore military base is in Djibouti, on the Horn of Africa. (Read more from “Warning Sounded: China Soon Could Patrol U.S. East Coast” HERE)

Biden: China Believes It Will ‘Own America’ Within 15 Years

President Biden dropped an ominous note into his remarks to American service members at a Virginia military base Friday, telling them that his Chinese counterpart believes Beijing will “own America” inside the next 15 years.

“We’re in a battle between democracies and autocracies,” Biden told troops at Joint Base Langley Eustis in Hampton. “The more complicated the world becomes, the more difficult it is for democracies to come together and reach consensus.

“I’ve spent more time with President Xi [Jinping] of China than any world leader has — for 24 hours of private meetings with him with just an interpreter, 17,000 miles traveling with him in China and here,” the president added. “He firmly believes that China, before the year [20]30, ’35, is going to own America because autocracies can make quick decisions.”

The president did not elaborate on what was meant by “own America.” He made no other mention of China during his 23-minute remarks. (Read more from “Biden: China Believes It Will ‘Own America’ Within 15 Years” HERE)

Top U.S. General Blasts China for ‘Cover-up’ of COVID-19 Origins

The U.S. military’s top general said late Wednesday the evidence for the origins of COVID-19 remains “inconclusive” but blasted the Chinese government for its efforts to “cover-up” the investigation into the virus’ origins.

Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told Fox News while aboard a military aircraft while returning from the Air Force Academy that his opinion on the origins of COVID-19 “hasn’t changed” in the past year. He had previously said during an April 2020 press briefing that the “weight of evidence seems to indicate” the virus originated naturally, Reuters reported. . .

He also told Fox News that the reason investigators have been unable to conclusively determine the virus’ origins is because of the Chinese government’s “cover-up” of evidence and its “lack of transparency.”

“Once this virus started appearing, there seems to have been a fair amount of activity or cover-up or lack of transparency, probably the best way to put it, and all of that is disturbing,” Milley said. “So we need to get to the bottom of it. That’s clear.”
