GOP House Leadership Joins Obama’s Appeasement of Iran, Ostracizes Conservatives [+video]

Boehner and McCarthy APLast week, I noted that the House would be the last line of defense against passage of the Corker-Cardin Iran bill, which will grant Obama full cover and de facto authority to continue his dangerous appeasement of Iran. Sadly, it appears that not only will the House leadership decline to stand athwart to history and yell STOP, as Bill Buckley always suggested, they will silence conservatives from having a debate and offering amendments to at least improve this ill-conceived bill. It’s important to note, the average Liberty Score™ of the current House GOP leadership team stands at a solid 53% (F).

In other words, it is now clear that conservatives are just as marginalized even in the body of Congress that is completely controlled by Republicans with a simple majority as they are in the Senate.

The House plans to bring up the Corker-Cardin Iran bill under “suspension,” which means that there will be almost no debate and absolutely no amendments offered to this Democrat cover bill.

What are “suspension bills?”

“Suspension bills” are typically reserved for non-controversial issues that don’t require debate, such as non-binding resolutions and the naming of post offices, for instance. Leadership coerced the House Rules Committee to waive the rule against bringing up suspension bills at the end of the week (they are typically reserved for the beginning of the week) just so they can cram through this Iran bill without any input from conservatives.

There is nothing controversial in this bill. Nothing?

What is so jarring about this decision is that it comes on the heels of four years of GOP control without any debate over Iran. The Iran appeasement is the “Obamacare” or “executive amnesty” of Obama’s foreign policy in terms of its importance, yet the House has refused to move any significant legislation through committee, much less on the floor, that would draw a sharp contrast with Obama and hold Iran accountable for its terrorism, aggression against our allies and naval vessels, holding Americans hostage, and killing hundreds of U.S. soldiers in Iraq. But the minute Obama asks for a cover vote on the issue, they have no qualms about slamming it through the House without a committee process, debate, or amendments.

The GOP capitulation and appeasement of Obama’s appeasement comes a day after Iranian officials formerly rejected demands from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that Iran open its military installations to inspection. This runs counter to Obama’s own longstanding demands as well as the fact sheet the White House published on the preliminary framework of the deal allegedly forged on April 2. It is quite evident that Iran will only allow access to sites that have already been discovered and dismantled while continuing their program on their covert sites. Yet, in return for this “agreement,” they will receive an immediate $50 billion signing bonus in sanctions relief.

This means that beyond a shadow of a doubt, no preliminary agreement was struck at the end of March to satisfy the public demands of 10 Senate Democrats. In January of this year, Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and 9 other Senate Democrats (Schumer, Blumenthal, Peters, Casey, Cardin, Coons, Manchin, Donnelly, and Stabenow) sent a letter to Obama stating their intention to re-impose sanctions on Iran if the regime fails to agree to “a political framework that addresses all parameters of a comprehensive agreement” by March 24.

Well, March 24 has come and gone, yet Iran has rejected any semblance of a framework.

But instead of holding these Democrats accountable for their red line and passing a sanctions bill through the House, GOP leaders are silencing conservatives and passing a bill that will give these Democrats full cover. It will also ensure that Republicans will never have the votes to overturn the deal but retain a degree of responsibility for giving the public the perception that there is legitimate congressional oversight.

Folks, this is deceitfulness at its worst. You can’t make this stuff up.

Coupling this with Boehner’s betrayal on so many issues, it’s becoming harder and harder for conservative members to justify their reluctance to vacate the chair and throw Boehner out as Speaker. What is it going to take? (See “House Leadership Blocking out Conservatives on Iran Deal”, originally posted HERE)

Conservatives laugh at Charlie Sheen’s ‘Republican’ revelation: ‘Can we throw that one back?’ [+video]

By Nicole Haas. Just when the wacky antics of actor Charlie Sheen seemed to be dying down, he announced that he could run for president – as a Constitutional Republican!

Michael Loftus, the host of “The Flipside,” interviewed Sheen and asked him to name three laws he would pass if he were ‘King of America’ . . .

“Skilled vets in front of our schools, 10 percent tax across the board,” he started with.

“Flat tax? … I’m down with that,” said Loftus . . .

“The third would be, to just stop it, everybody relax. … Put the Constitution back into place. … I’m a Constitutional Republican, I believe in the Constitution, ya know? (Read more on why Conservatives laugh at Charlie Sheen HERE)

Charlie Sheen: Brian Williams ‘Victim’ of Vile Witch Hunt

By Elizabeth Vanmetre. Charlie Sheen proved to be a big fan of the NBC anchor who was suspended Tuesday night without pay for six months.

Sheen took to Twitter and tweeted, what seems to be some sort of letter in poem form beginning with, “Dear Mr. Williams.”

His tweet, which he had to use the app “TwitLonger” because of its length, thanked the “Nightly News” anchor for his “24 years of inimitable professionalism and top shelf brilliance, as a stone cold passion drive and perfectly fact based journalist.”

“You good sir, are a hero in my “Entire Library,” the actor added.

Maybe the strangest part of the tweet was when he called Williams a “victim of a transparent and vile witch hunt.” (Read more from this story HERE)

Study Shows Liberals More Likely Than Conservatives to "Unfriend" Someone Over Politics

Photo Credit: TownHallA new study by the Pew Research Center has found that people who identify as “liberal” in their political beliefs are more likely than conservatives to have unfriended someone (either in the online or real-life sense) over a disagreement in political leanings.

According to the study, while self-described “consistent liberals” were more likely than conservatives to have friends who have differing political opinions, they were also more likely to block those person’s posts from social media or to unfriend them altogether.

Consistent liberals were the most likely group to block or unfriend someone because they disagreed with their political postings, with 44 percent saying they had “hidden, blocked, defriended, or stopped following someone” on Facebook due to their political postings. Only roughly one-third (31 percent) of consistent conservatives had done the same — although this might be attributable to lower levels of ideological diversity in their online ecosystem.

Citizens Jailed on Trumped Up Charges a Foretaste of Coming Woes?

Photo Credit: abardwellSeveral trusted friends with significant contacts in the federal government have reported that they personally know of many citizens who are sitting in jail on trumped up charges, all the result of retaliatory actions on the part of the federal government. The reason? The only reasonable explanation is that the current administration and its enablers in Congress seem determined to punish those who run afoul of what the Washington elitists deem to be the politically correct manner of speaking and behaving in the new world order.

While many of these citizens are being held in prison on trumped up charges, others are “guilty” of obscure laws that are rarely enforced. But federal attorneys with an agenda can use these laws to put away an unsuspecting citizen who is not only unaware that they committed a crime(s) but unaware that such laws exist at all.

A report was issued last year in a book which indicated that the average citizen in the United States commits an average of three crimes per day, most if not all of which are felonies. These citizens are unaware of problems with their actions due to the fact that so many laws are on the books that it is impossible to keep up with them all. It is even difficult for lawyers to keep up with them. But in this day and age under an oppressive government such as the Obama regime, woe be unto you if you show up on their radar screen as a troublemaker for the political goals and ideology of the Administration. You could find yourself in trouble with the law, even federal prosecutors, the most dishonest of which will find a rationale, any rationale, using obscure laws, to create a legal nightmare for the unsuspecting citizen.

Once a citizen demonstrates to the Washington political elitists that he may be a significant threat to the goals of the current government and thus shows up on the radar screens of the Obama Administration, the elitist leadership in Congress, and the Justice Department in particular, it is easy enough for that citizen to become a target. The purpose is to silence their voices and discredit them. How better to do that than to bring false charges against these citizens, many of whom lack the funds, time, and resources to mount a successful defense? So, it’s off to prison they go for crimes they did not commit.

Mark Levin’s Simple Plan to Put a Conservative in the White House

Hard-charging radio commentator Mark Levin is sick of waiting for the Republican Party to nominate a conservative for president, and today he outlined his plan to accomplish just that.

Speaking at the Values Voter Summit in Washington, the talk radio giant and bestselling author issued a call to action to the crowd of social conservatives, prescribing a grassroots movement to elect a conservative to the White House in 2016.

Levin lamented that Americans under age 50 haven’t yet had the chance to vote for a true conservative such as Ronald Reagan for president and called on conference attendees to spend the next six months laying the groundwork for the 2016 election.

“From an election perspective, it keeps happening,” Levin said. “The Republican establishment picks off conservatives.”

To prevent this from happening during the presidential primaries, Levin called on conservatives to rally behind one or two candidates who are “articulate, intelligent, charismatic.”

Ted Cruz: ‘Conservatives Are Winning’

Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) laid out a seven-point argument for how he knows “conservatives are winning” that almost doubles as the case for his presidential candidacy.

“What I’m going to talk to you about this afternoon is how we can win. And let me tell you something that is not getting a whole lot of coverage in the mainstream media: Conservatives are winning,” Cruz said Friday evening during a speech at the 2014 RedState Gathering in Fort Worth, Texas. (In his brief pause after that remark, one audience member asked, just audibly, “Really?”)

“The grassroots are winning fight after fight after fight,” he continued, citing “seven victories all together.” Cruz’s listed five completed victories and two that he said were “fixin’ to be” won.

In the five: 1) Stopping the gun legislation that followed the Newtown shooting. “I was proud to stand with my friends Rand Paul and Mike Lee and say we would filibuster any legislation [against the Second Amendment,” Cruz said. “That gave the opportunity for y’all to engage . . . suddenly all the folks that were getting wobbly on guns started having their phone lines melt down.”

Lerner Emails: Conservative 'Crazies' and 'A–holes' will 'Take Down' America

By Guy Benson.

Lois Lerner — faithful, impartial public servant:

BtzUmO-IgAAsW1H

That screen grab comes from an email exchange between retired IRS official Lois Lerner and a colleague just after the 2012 election. Ms. Lerner describes overhearing some women discussing the state of the nation in dire terms, prompting her correspondent to blast “whacko” and “scary” right-wing radio shows. Lerner posits that America may be “through” if “that many a–holes” exist, later adding that the US shouldn’t worry about foreign terrorists because “our own crazies” will “take us down.” Granted, certain quarters of the conservative radio universe are too conspiratorial and apocalyptic for many people’s taste. But the same holds true at the other end of the ideological spectrum. Lerner and her friend weren’t talking about the Left, though. They were hand-wringing over, and insulting, conservatives — whom Lerner clearly despises…

Lois Lerner Called Conservatives ‘A–holes,’ Fantasized About Working At Obama Group

By Chuck Ross.

New emails released by the House Ways and Means Committee on Wednesday provide more evidence that ex-IRS official Lois Lerner is not fond of conservatives.

“So we don’t need to worry about teRroists [sic]. It’s our own crazies that will take us down,” Lerner wrote in a Nov. 9, 2012 email exchange with an IRS colleague.

Ways and Means Committee chairman Dave Camp revealed the emails in a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder.

Lerner’s disdain for the right is central to an investigation into whether she targeted conservative groups who were seeking tax-exempt status. Republicans have accused the former director of the IRS’s exempt organizations division of possible criminal wrongdoing in targeting the groups.

“This email shows that Ms. Lerner’s mistreatment of conservative groups was driven by her personal hostility toward conservatives,” Camp wrote.

FEC Chair Warns of Chilling Regulations, Book Ban On Conservative Publishers

The chairman of the Federal Election Commission today blasted Democratic colleagues opposed to his effort to protect conservative media after they imposed rules on the publisher of Rep. Paul Ryan’s new book, opening the door to future book regulations — or even a ban.

“By failing to affirm this publisher’s constitutional right, statutory right, to disseminate a political book free from FEC conditions and regulations, we have effectively asserted regulatory jurisdiction over a book publisher,” warned Chairman Lee E. Goodman, one of three Republicans on the six-person FEC.

“That failure reveals a festering legal uncertainty and chill for the free press rights of books and book publishers to publish and disseminate political books free from government regulation,” he added.

His comments after the FEC OK’d Republican Ryan’s request to promote his new book, The Way Forward, were immediately and sharply rebuked by Democratic Commissioner Ellen L. Weintraub. “No one is banning books,” she said.

Weintraub also hit Goodman for suggesting “that we are motivated by partisan bias, which is really not appreciated and untrue. I want to categorically deny that.”

The Establishment’s Conspiracy to Silence Conservatives Could Destroy Our Country

Photo Credit: APThe establishment – defined less by party than by power – is using every weapon it has to shut you up, to marginalize you, and to beat you into submission. In the short term it may work. In the long term it promises disaster.

The key to any democratic republic is legitimacy. If the system allows a full and fair airing of different views before a decision is made, groups that lose the debate will accept the decision. You are disappointed if the other side won fair and square. But you are furious if the other side cheated.

And all the other side does today is cheat. Worse, it does so with a mindless cynicism, having discovered that if other elements of the establishment play along – like a mainstream media that refuses to perform its accountability function – then there are no immediate consequences. Over time, this risks of alienating nearly half of our citizens.

Sometimes the establishment cheats subtly. It can take the form of mockery, like when the President tried to belittle into silence the millions of Americans who doubt the climate change scam for believing that if the globe was really warming then the globe would actually be getting warmer.

IRS Backs Off Proposal Critics Warned Would ‘Silence’ Conservative Groups

Photo Credit: Fox News The IRS has agreed to overhaul a controversial proposal that Republican lawmakers warned would revive the agency’s “harassment and intimidation” of conservative groups, after receiving a record number of comments on the proposed regulation.

The new rules have been in the works ever since the IRS came under fire for its targeting of Tea Party and other conservative groups. In the wake of that scandal, the agency said it wanted to clarify for everybody how tax-exempt groups can engage in political activity — by reining in the political work those groups do.

But Republicans, as well as some on the left, worried the new rules would only exacerbate the kind of targeting that stonewalled Tea Party groups in the first place.

For months, they’ve urged the IRS to scrap the proposal entirely, saying it would stifle free speech.

Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, among those senators, called Thursday’s decision a “long overdue step in the right direction.”
